Chapter 7: My Three Favorite People, part 2
Some time later, Lake Szelezon
They landed just a few feet away from the lake and Mirabel cast a spell around Manic and Sonia's heads, incasing them in air bubbles so they can breath underwater. Mirabel tried to do the same to Sonic, but he categorically refused, reminding her of his inability to swim.
Mirabel: But you'll have an air bubble around your head Azul, even if you can't swim you can still walk at the bottom without drowning.
Sonic: Where i will be as slow as a snail on sleeping pills, thus little to no use in a fight and worst a dead weight to you all. Don't insist Mira, you'll do way better without me on this.
Manic: *In a distorted voice because of the head bubble* Hate to say it, but bro's right, an underwater quest would be safer without than with him.
Sonia: *Nods*
Mirabel: *Sigh* Alright, *Turns to Sonic with a small glare* but one of these days my Amigo Azul, I'm going to drag you to the nearest body of water and teach you how to swim once and for all. *Conjures up her own bubble helmet and gestures for the two others to follow her before they all dove in*
Sonic: *Sigh in relief, then smirks* Maybe one day Mira, but not today *Chuckles*
Meanwhile Underwater
Mirabel, Manic and Sonia are shown swimming deeper and deeper down the lake, until they reach a large pile of gold and jewels, the dead witch's treasure they've been looking for.
Mirabel: I'll go search the pile for the Ruby, you guys keep watch for the lake knights.
They nodded and Mirabel quickly swam for the pile to search. Moments later, a group of lake knights showed up and the fight started.
Sonia, using a decently thick tree branch she grabbed before coming down there managed to fend off a few with some well placed wacks on the face while Manic used a few boxing moves to knock the lights out of a few other.
A few broke off from the others to attack Mirabel at the pile, but she quickly spotted them and retaliated with magic bolts that shock them out good, she even managed to hit a few of those Manic and Sonia were fighting while continuing to search. Suddenly, Mirabel eye spotted what look like to be their prize a little further away in a pile of diamonds and emeralds.
She zapped one last knight before swimming towards it. After examinating it to be sure it's the genuine thing, she gives a thumbs up to Manic and Sonia. Manic returns her thumbs up when the lake starts rumbling. Mirabel is shocked when hundreds more knights begin surrounding her from the crevasse surrounding the treasure. They seemingly overcome Mirabel to the horror of the 2 hedgehogs, but it shortly turned to relief when suddenly, a yellow colored twister forms at the center of the knight pile to blow them away in all directions, revealing Mirabel riding the top of the twister straight up, grabbing the 2 hedgehogs on the way before popping out of the lake and landing butts first on the shore grounds, shouting in victory.
Sonic: *Runs to the others* Guys, are you Ok? Did the Lake Knights hurt any of you? Did you find the Ruby?
Mirabel: We're fine, not as much as we hurt them, *reveals the ruby with a smile* and you betcha.
all 3 Hedgehogs: *Screaming Joyfully with the 2 brothers high fiving and Sonia jumping in place in her excitement* So what are we waiting for, add the ruby to the choker and give it to Sonia, Girl.
Mirabel: You got it Azul *Summons the wooden box on the ground, opens it and takes out the unfinished chocker, to slip the ruby inside the ring. The stone and the ring's runes glowed a crimson red for a few seconds before stopping, meaning that the magic is now stable and the chocker ready to be used.* Come over here Sonia, i'll put it on for you.
Sonia: *Walks to Mirabel, who carefully ties the chocker around her neck, making sure the stone is as close to her adams apple as possible* Annnnd done. Look's good on you Sonia, want to say a few words.
Sonia: *In Spanish* Quiero decir muchas palabras, pero por dónde em...
The 2 brothers faces were a mixture of serious confusion and a little joyous, the chocker was working, but not at the right language.
Mirabel: *Laughs Sheepishly* Guess i must have mixed up the languages while carving the runes somewhere, but don't worry *Conjures a golden carving needle* I can fix this.
While Sonia continued to babel away, Mirabel carefully took the pendant in her left hand and with her right one, used the carving needle to switch over the ''Linguistic'' runes from Spanish to English.
Sonia: *In English*... But most of all i'm grateful that you've given me a new voice to express myself with *Gets closer and hugs Mirabel* thank you so much.
Mirabel: *Returns the hug with a smile*
Sonic: *Walks over and pats her back* Knew you could do it girl.
Mirabel: *Lets go of Sonia* Thanks, but to be fair with you Azul, i wasn't sure if any of this was going to work at all, thank Glob that it did and my hard work wasn't for nothing. *Shifts into giant butterfly mode* Now then, what do you all say i fly you all home now.
Sonia: Only if you agree to stay with us for lunch, i'll make you what ever you want as a token of gratitude for my new voice.
Sonic: *Smirks* 'All according to plan' Sounds like a great idea sis, you game Mira?
Mirabel: *Stomach growls, making Mirabel laugh sheepishly* My stomach is in any case, and i wouldn't say no to some Ajiaco and a couple of arepas con queso
Sonia: Oh *Looks down sadly* i'm not at all familiar with those recipes.
Mirabel: Aw don't worry, i'll gladly share the recipe with you, i'll even conjure up the ingredients if you don't have them.
Sonia: *Perks back up* Then what are we waiting for *Climbs on Mirabel's back* lets get home so i can cook us all lunch.
Manic: Whatever you say sis *Climbs on behind her sister* i can't believe we get to hear you talk again, *Looks behind Sonia's shoulder to Mirabel* you are awesome Mirabel.
Mirabel: Oh stop it, you'll make me blush. *Spreads her wings* Now hold on everyone.
Mirabel then took to the air, fast enough for Sonic, who's at the back to almost loose balance and fall, but managed to catch himself in time. But the back of a flying vehicle, or creature in this case, is the most turbulent spot and easy to loose ones balance if they're not holding on tight. For several more minutes, Sonic struggled with staying firmly seated, but could feel his grip sleeping.
Sonic: Mira! It's a little rocky in the back seat here! Mind slowing down a bit.
But Mirabel couldn't hear a word of what her friend said, do to a strong wind blowing in her ears, or what counts as ears for a butterfly. Not long after, they were flying over a forest where it looked like the local forest wizard was throwing a party and giving away gifts.
Mirabel: *Breaks in the air, causing Sonic to fall off his ''Seat'' and hold on for dear life on Mirabel's ''Tail'' but hasn't noticed yet* Oh look guys, the forest wizard is giving away free power rings.
Manic: *Looks down* Cool, what do those rings do.
Sonic: *Holding on for dear life* Heu guys.
Mirabel: Depends on the ring, each one of them allows the wearer to cast one specific spell.
Sonic: *slipping further* Guys
Sonia: Oooh, let's go grab a few, i've always wanted to do magic.
Mirabel: Alright then, hold on *Mirabel dives down towards the clearing, but it caused poor Sonic to finally loose his grip and fall in the forest*
Sonic: MIIIIIIIIIIRA *A tree's leafage broke his fall, so he didn't injure himself, and he carefully climb down the tree* Mira! Manic! Sonia! Y'all around here? *Looks around, but doesn't see them. Suddenly, fireworks coming from the trees accompanied by the sounds of Mirabel and his sibs having fun with the rings were heard, so he headed for that direction.*
At the Wizard's Party
Mirabel, Manic, Sonia and a few animals were cheering the wizard on while extending to hands to grab the rings he throws in the air.
Sonia: *Grabs one with a flower shaped stone and tries it on, causing a small patch of flowers to instantly grow at her feet* Whoa! Did you see that!? I can totally do magic now!
Sonic: *Burst through the trees with a mini sonic boom, scaring everyone away* There you are! Where were you guys?
Sonia: Sonic!? What are you doing there brother? You didn't fly down with us?
Mirabel: We thought you were behind us the whole time!
Sonic: Noooo! *Looking sad* the wind made me fall off your tail end! *Now looks mad* I was shouting your name as i fell, but you didn't even look in my direction!
Mirabel: *Comes up and hugs him, looking guilty* Ooh! I'm so sorry Azul, we probably couldn't here you because of the wind in are ears.
Manic: Sonic, bro! Check out these power rings! *The rings each expel some sort of magical display*
Sonic: Whoa. That's cool! You got a lot of them?
Manic: Yeah! Sonia got one too.
Sonic: *Sonia shows her brother her flower ring, which sprouts a real flower from the gemstone* Oh, that's cool.
Manic: Uh, You want one of mine? I've got so many.
Sonic: Yeah! Thanks bro!
Manic: *Tries to remove a ring, but can't* Oh. Wait, I can't take them off.
Sonia: *Tries to remove her's, but she can't either* Me neither.
Mirabel: *Frowns* They must be cursed
Manic: *Shoots blue flames from his fingertips* Still pretty cool though.
Sonic: Yeah, they're awesome. *Looks depressed*
At Manic and Sonia's House, a few hours Later.
After they had lunch prepared by Sonia and Mirabel, where Sonic was pretty much excluded from the conversation between his sibs and Mira, they all gathered in the living to play some video games. Sonic is sitting on the couch while Mirabel and Manic play a racing game, with Sonia cheering them on.
Manic: *Sonic takes a sip of his drink while Manic and Mirabel laugh* Alright this time I'm gonna destroy you Mirabel Madrigal.
Mirabel: In your dreams Verde *Sonic starts walking up from behind them*.
Mirabel: Oh I got the sword!
Sonic: Hey, Manic, Sonia you wanna go play music together or somethin'?
Manic: Oh, oh. Uh, I would bro, but I-I'm in the middle of this game.
Sonia: And i'll be playing against the winner any second now.
Sonic: Oh. *Goes over to Mirabel* Hey Mira. After this next game do you wanna go adventurin' with me?
Mirabel: Love to but can't, we've been invited to a party in the Cloud Kingdom tonight. * Sonic looks startled* why don't you come with us.
Sonic: Humph! Humph Humph Humph! *sighs and looks sad. Then sighs and grumbles*
Manic: Bro stop sighing you're messing up my game! *Sonic sighs again* Sonic! *Manic looks away from the screen* What's goin' on with you!
Sonic: Mmmm, Nothin'!
Manic: Awww dang it! Man, Mira, you're too good at this! Hey, It's time to party with clouds! Sonic, you comin'?
Sonic: No! *Walks outside, leaving the others confused by his outburst*
Sonia: *Looks Worried* What's wrong with big brother?
Manic: Haven got a clue. You don't think he's still upset about the falling off Mirabel's back incident, don't you?
Mirabel: *Says nothing as she gets up and walks outside to talk to him* Azul, what's wrong?! I thought you wanted to spend more time with me and your sibs together? Are you still upset about me not hearing you fall earlier?
Sonic: I do, and no i'm over that. *Looking hurt and sad*
Mirabel: Then come on and let's go party.
Sonic: No YOU go ahead! *In a harsh tone* And YOU have fun with MY Siblings!
Mirabel: *Startled by his harsh tone* Sonic?... *Sonic just sighs and turns away* Ok we'll go without you, but you should meet us there once you've cooled down a bit. *Mirabel walks away*
Sonic: *Sees Manic and Sonia flying away outside the window on Mirabel's butterfly form back, and sighs*
Some Time Later, at the Treefort
Sonic returned not long after Mirabel and his sibs went to the cloud party, and is now sitting at the kitchen table looking at pictures of himself and either Mirabel or he sibs together with him, while Amy Rose sits at the opposite end, giving her friend a sympathetic, yet stern look.
Amy: So if i understand correctly, you've been working and bringing Mirabel and your siblings closer together so you can spend more time with all of them.
Sonic: *Nods absentmindedly* Yeah.
Amy: But it backfired, and now you're spending even less time with either of them than before while they have fun together.
Sonic: *Nods absentmindedly again*
Amy: *Sighs* Can't blame you for trying, but don't you think you're reaction to it all is a bit childish?
Sonic: *Raise his head and glares at Amy* You don't get it Amy, it was all going according to my plan, better than what i've hoped, until they all started neglecting my presence and having fun without me.
Amy: But they insisted you come at the cloud party with them.
Sonic: Yeah, and they'll be ignoring me like they've been doing all afternoon, no thanks, i rather be here talking to a friend that remembers i exist.
Amy: *Sighs and gets up* I'm sorry you're having such a hard time Sonic, but don't let this get between you, your family and best friend. Go talk to them, tell them what they've been doing and how it makes you feel, they'll understand, at least i know Mirabel will *Walks out of the kitchen*.
Sonic: *Thinks for a few minutes, then sighs* Maybe your right Amy *Then looks over at the kitchen clock, it is 20:50.* They should bee back by now!
He then speeds out of the fort door and back to his siblings house, deciding to take Amy's advice and talk to them. But when he reached the house, it was still empty, no signs of anyone inside. Surprised and a bit worried, he went for the phone and dialed the Cloud Kingdom number
Cloud man: *Rings a couple of times, then he answers* Hello Cloud Kingdom.
Sonic: Uh, yes, hello. Um, I'm lookin' for Mirabel Madrigal and 2 Hedgehogs: A Green male and a Pink female. *Cloud man throws a soda to someone* Hello, can you hear me? Hello.
Cloud man: Yeah, they left a while ago.
Sonic: A while ago?! What do y-
Suddenly, rock music can be heard from the backyard. In dread, Sonic drop the phone and quickly went for the backyard door. what he saw when he opened the door was Mirabel and his sibs having a jam session without him, with Mirabel playing on a golden acoustic guitar she must have conjured herself.
Mirabel: *Finishing the song they were playing, then whips her forehead* Few! Now that's what i call a jam session *The 3 friends laugh tiredly while Sonic gasps.* Hanging out with you guys is the best!
Sonia: I also think hanging with you is amazing Mira.
Manic: Yeah, we should do it all the time.
Sonic: Nooo *Backs away and runs fast out of the house to the hills nearby and collapses on his knees, looking betrayed* oooooo! My own Best Friend... replacing me in the eyes of my sibs! *Betrayal now replaced with anger, he takes out his phone* Well, TWO can play at that game, Amigos! *He scrolls through his contacts* Let's see... "Amy definitely not, Rouge, Blaze, Honey, Bunnie, Marine, Jewel, Lanolin, Perci, Mina, Sonar... *gasp* Surgggggge! *In an evil tone* PERFECT! Muhuhaha! *Calls Surge.*
Back with Mirabel, Manic and Sonia
Mirabel: *Laughs with Manic and Sonia* Hombre (Man), I wish Sonic was here having fun with us.
Sonia: Agreed, as fun as it is right now, it's always better with big brother around.
Manic: Yeah, wonder where he is right now?
Mirabel: *Hears electric guitar and Drums playing* Hey, where's that music coming from?
Manic: *Listens* Yeah, sounds like its coming from the front of the house.
The 3 friends all walk back up front to Sonic and a purple hooded figure on the drums playing music together.
Sonic: Yeah, yeah, louder.
Manic: *Sees Sonic and the unknown figure play and gasps* Bro, what are you doing?
Jake: Oh, hey guys. I'm just sharing an awesome jam sess with my best pal Surge.
Mirabel: *frowns* Well stop it right now Azul! You're making your brother jealous!
Sonic: A great start, and i'm trying to make all 3 of you jealous!
Sonia: *Looks sad and a little betrayed by her brother's action*
Mirabel: Why would Sonia and I be jealous of Surge to?
Sonic: Becaaause, Surge's a Girl!
Surge: *Removes her hood to show her black and green tenrec face to the camera and Laughs evilly* Sonic's MY best friend now! FOREVER!
Mirabel and Sonia: *Both Look extremely startled* *Sonia's eyes start to water while Mirabel growls and leaps towards Surge with a conjured golden hammer* Yaaaaaaahhh! *Pounds Surge out of view and they both fight with Surge pulling out a knife on her, but Mirabel zaps it away* Home wrecker! *They continue fighting until Mirabel landed a magic bolt powerful enough to shock the Tenrec into unconsciousness, then turned around and angrily walked to the blue hedgehog*
Mirabel: Que demonios (what the Heck) is going on with you Sonic?
Sonic: *Takes a step back from her outburst, but then retorts just as angrily* What's going on is that my best friend likes to hang out with my sibs more than me.
Mirabel: *Looks shock now* But I'm hanging out with them because you wanted us to get to know each other better.
Sonic: I know. Gaah, and it was so perfect to, you guys were getting along great and i could finally spend time with everyone i loved without cutting my times. But then you had to start acting like your family and cut me out of it so you can have them to yourself. Well go ahead and see if i care *Turns around, arms crossed angrily*
Both siblings gasp at their brother's awful words, how could he say that about his own BFF.
Meanwhile Mirabel was froze in shock. He's wrong, she's nothing like her family, she'd never do that to him, would she?
Sonia: *Frowns Sadly* How can you say that big brother after the great time we had today.
Sonic: *Glares at his sister* Yeaaaah, so great that you left me fall off Mira's tail and into the forest bellow.
Manic: That was an accident bro, none of us heard you fall, if we did we would have catch you, Mira would have catch you.
Sonic: Then there's all those conversations you barred me from, all the times you ignored me when i tried to talk to you guys, going to the Cloud Kingdom party without me...
Manic: *Shouts* We invited you to come with us, but you refused...
Sonic: *Turns to glare at his brother* And finally, you replaced me, in are Jam session, with my best friend, without even telling me.
Manic: It was just 1 session Sonic, we didn't replace you...
While the 3 hedgehog siblings were arguing, Mirabel was still in shock at what Sonic just told her, and the more Sonic vent out what they have done to him all day, the less and less she can deny it because its true, it was the same thing for her back home, being ignored by the villagers and most of her family except for her parents. Sure its only been 1 day, less then a full day really, but she's pretty sure that if Sonic haven't shouted out his grievances, this behavior would have continue on for a good while longer and damage their friendship beyond repair, she can't let that happen, she refuse to sink to her village and her family's level,
Mirabel: Guys, stop it, Sonic's r... *She tried to make them stop fighting, but she was cut off by a blow to the head from behind her that sent her flying forward and hit the ground between the 3 hedgehogs, head first*
All 3 of them: *Gasp* MIRABEL *Sonic kneels at her side and gently takes her head in is hands* Mira, Mira are you ok? Say something girl.
Mirabel: *Can only groan in pain*
Surge: *Laughs Evilly while holding Sonic's discarded and now broken Guitar* That i'll teach you not to mess with me Witch Bitch.
Sonic: *Looking furious* WHAT THE HECK SURGE, YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HER.
Surge: To bad that hit didn't, then you'd be mine, forever.
Sonic: 'What's with these crazy girls and there obsession to make me there's' *Sets Mirabel's head gently back on Sonia's lap before facing his sibs* Take care of her guys, i have a psycho chick to take care of *Spin Dashes at Surge, sending her flying backwards and drop his broken guitar*
Mirabel: *Still groans in pain, but managed to open her eyes* Ooooh, ¿Qué diablos me acaba de golpear? (what the Heck just hit me?)
Sonia: *smiles in tears* Oh Mirabel, thank Glob you're Ok. It's that crazy Tenrec Surge, she hit you from behind with Sonic's guitar.
Mirabel *Winces* Surge? Azul's Guitar? *Winces even more and groans* Si, that feels about right *Reaches behind her head and brought it back to reveal blood on her hand*
Manic: Oh my Glob Mirabel, you're bleeding! We need to get you to a doctor right away.
Mirabel: *Tries to set up* I got a better Idea, use the healing ring you got from the forest wizard. The one with the red cross, it should be strong enough to heal the worst of it.
Manic nodded before reaching into his jacket pocket to take out the red cross ring that Mirabel uncursed, put it on, then applies his ringed hand to her head injury and willed it to heal her. A second later, the ring glowed red and slowly worked its way to close the wound.
Sonia: *In tears* Oh Mirabel i'm so sorry, this is all are fault, if we've haven't treated big brother like we did...
Mirabel: *Grabs Sonia's hand in reassurance* Only i'm to blame for it all Sonia. Sonic was right, i treated him like my family treated me back home and i didn't even notice, grrrr i disgust myself.
Manic: *Sweating from fatigue* We're all guilty of the same sin Mira. But we can still fix this, if bro can get ride of that psycho.
Sonic: *Spin Dashes Surge one last time before standing over her fallen form, a cold look in his eyes* Beat it Surge! I don't to see you ever again! Go on! Get!
Surge: *Struggles to stand up* You're only delaying the inevitable! Someday you will be my best friend! And that Witch Bitch will be taking a permanent nap in her gra- *Was cut off by a magic bolt that teleported the Tenrec away*.
Sonic: *Turns around to see Mirabel sat up with her hand outstretched* MIRA *Runs to her side* Oh thank Glob you're alright, and i'm so sorry, i was being a jealous idiot and that got you hurt, please forgive me.
Mirabel: *Grabs Sonic in a hug* Only if you can forgive me and your sibs for the neglect we've shown you.
Manic: *Joins in the hug* Yeah, sorry bro.
Sonia: *Joins in to* We promise, it won't happen again.
Sonic: Great, cause if it does happen again, i'll cut off everyone's hair while you all sleep *Smirks*
Everyone laughs
