Chapter 14: Pup-nappedEverest woke up the next day from the deepest, most peaceful sleep ever. She yawned and stood up and stretched her legs. She then began to remember the night before the memories flooding in like a sweet aroma in the air, the sunset, the flowers, the warmth of Marshals paw on hers.
"Was that all real or just a dream, huh, well it was lovely ether way." Everest said.
Everest walked into the bathroom and washed her face and then went down for breakfast. Jake was cooking bacon and eggs for breakfast.
"Yo Everest, did you and Marshal have fun last night," Jake asked.
"Yeah, you know, I can't tell if it was real or just a dream," Everest said.
"Oh it was real alright, you were fast asleep when Marshal carried you too your bed last night," Jake said.
"Oh, Marshal carried me up last night, wow, I'm shocked, I mean you know how heavy I am right," Everest said.
Jake and Everest laugh and sit down and start eating.
"Oh and by the way, Marshal said that he was going to go on a hike and invited you to go with him after breakfast if you want." Jake said.
"Of course I'll go with him, I'd give my tail to be with Marshy again," Everest said finishing up her breakfast.
After breakfast Everest went up to her room and saddled her pup pack and packed some extra hiking gear. A little bit later after Everest was done packing for the hike, the door bell rang. Jake answered it and Everest could hear him talking with Marshal. She walked down the stairs and smiled at him.
"Hi Evey you ready to go," Marshal said.
"yup, are you okay Marshal your voice sounds a little bit deeper than normal," Everest asked with concern.
Marshal coughed a couple of times.
"Oh, maybe I'm catching a cold or something, ugh screw it, well shall we go, maybe the fresh air will help." Marshal said.
"Yeah let's do this Marshy," Everest said.
"Bye Everest, oh and Marshal, please take care of her." Jake said.
"Oh don't you worry, I'll take great care of her," Marshal said with a freakishly evil grin on his face.
Jake watched the two head off.
"Hehe, those two are so cute together." Jake said.
Jake then started to get ready for his work. 15 minutes later right before Jake was about to leave, his phone began to ring.
"Hello, Jake here," Jake said answering his phone.
"Hi Jake It's Marshal, I'm just letting you know that I'm about ready to leave the lookout to come pick Everest up for our hike." Marshal said over the phone.
"Wait, what you're still at the lookout, then who was it that came and picked up my baby Everest," Jake panicked!
"What, oh no, Everest is in trouble, don't go anywhere, I'm coming strait there." Marshal said.
Marshal starts franticly looking for his revolver, Ryder sensed that something wasn't right.
"Marshal is everything alright," Ryder asked with concern.
"No, My Evey is in trouble," Marshal said, loading his revolver.
"I'll go get the other pups," Ryder said.
"No, time" Marshal said cocking his gun and racing to his fire truck.
"But Marshal, we're stronger together as a team." Ryder said.
"I'm going to find my girlfriend, and you can't stop me," Marshal said with an angry scowl.
Marshal slammed on the gas and raced off, sirens blaring. Ryder went and called the other pups to help.
Meanwhile Everest and Evil spot where walking down the trail farthest from civilization. Everest had no idea of the danger she was in. eventually the two stopped on a cliff overlooking the entire mountain. The view was so pretty, and Everest looked so innocent, that spot almost felt bad for what he was about to do to her.
"Oh, Marshy you are just full of little surprises like this, I love you," Everest said.
"I guess I am full of surprises aren't I," Spot said with an evil grin.
Everest sat down on the cliff edge, from the cliff she could see Jakes cabin. She let out a sigh of contentment. Spot looked behind him into the trees, and he could see Butch and Ruben, ready to unleash their evil plan. Spot smiled with an evil smile, he walked up and sat down next to Everest.
"Hay Everest, can I ask you something," Spot asked.
"Sure Marshy, anything," Everest replied innocently.
"Are you afraid of the dark," Spot asked with a hint of darkness in his voice.
"Uh, yeah a little, why do you ask that?"
Spot then grew a bone chilling grin on his face. Everest was a little freaked out, so she looked back towards Jakes cabin. Everest though she saw something down at the cabin, She rubbed her eyes and looked again. Everest was shocked at what she saw, Marshal rushing up to the cabin door. Everest whipped around towards spot, who had now put on a dark cloak around his body. He had an evil, blood curdling smile on his face, he lunged at Everest and ripped her pup tag of her neck and smashed it on the ground.
"What you're not Marshal," Everest said, backing away in fear.
"Ha, ha, my brother told you a lot about himself, but he didn't tell you everything," Spot said with a menacing laugh.
Suddenly a burlap bag was thrown around Everest head. She screamed at the top of her dog lungs. The gang laughed and threw her into their truck that was hidden in the brush. Meanwhile Marshal was talking with Jake.
"What did the dog look like," Marshal asked.
"Exactly like you dude, almost like an identical twin," Jake said.
"Identical twin, uh, oh no," Marshal said with a horrified expression on his face.
"Who do you think did this," Jake asked.
"I have an idea, and if I'm right, then Everest life could be in danger, we need to find her, and fast." Marshal said.
Suddenly, Marshals ears picked up the faint sound of Everest screaming.
"Everest, EVEREST," Marshal yelled.
Marshal bolted towards the sound of her screams, even though she was about half of a mile away. Jake tried to follow him, but he lost Marshal pretty quickly, so he went back to the cabin to wait for the rest of the pups. Meanwhile Marshal ran as fast as his dog legs would carry him. He ran through the brush, thorns and Branches slashing him across his face, drawing blood. But he didn't care, he had one goal, find Everest.
Back at the cabin the other pups arrived to help search for Everest. Since Chase couldn't climb through the thick brush with his wheels, he stayed with Jake at the cabin and used his drone to search for Everest. The team searched for hours and no sign of Everest or Marshal. They keep on searching until Chase's drone finds Marshal high up on the mountain. The pups and Jake and Ryder rush up to where Marshal was. He was sitting down on the ground; his head hung low to the ground. Marshal lifted his head; his eyes were stained with tears. In his trembling paws was Everest broken pup tag.
"Oh no, Marshal, I'm so sorry," Chase said.
"This is all my fault," Marshal sobbed, clutching Everest pup tag like a sacred relic.
"Oh, no Marshal, don't you dare start that, this is not your fault." Rocky said.
"b-but it i-is, lo-o-k," Marshal said handing rocky a note left by spot. "She-e was t-taken for re-revenge on me-e." Marshal sobbed.
Rocky read the note aloud, it read Marshal, I never thought I would see you again after you left me with that drunkard. I have taken you precious Evey, as pay back for what you did do me, and I will be back for the rest of you, every single one of you, signed Spot. Rocky looked up at Marshal as did the rest of the pups.
"Marshal," Rocky said.
"If only I had been here sooner," Marshal sobbed, ignoring Rocky.
"Marshal."
"If only I hadn't delayed in getting here."
"Marshal," Rocky said with annoyance.
"If only I had" Marshal started.
"MARSHAL," Rocky yelled.
"What," Marshal cried.
"Who, Is Spot," Rocky
Marshal was silent as fear overtook him.
"Marshal don't make me ask again, who is spot, what are you not telling us," Rocky said.
Marshal lowered his head and his voice, the pups all leaned closer to hear him.
"He, He is, my twin brother," Marshal said, shuttering with fear.
Whoa, Everest, Pup-napped and Spot is Marshals twin brother, what, Now what will happen, what did Marshal do to Spot to make him want to do this, will Everest be okay, Find out next week on Adventures of the PAW Patrol
