"Systems are green none of the trucks or the cities are reporting any problems sir, but we do have an issue."
"What is it?" I ask the communications officer.
"Atlas is asking to be allowed to send a team of Huntsmen and Huntresses. The Schnee Dust Company is offering a large amount of Dust so that we can." the woman pauses for a moment and I can hear her say this can't be right.
"The Schnee Dust Company is offering a large amount of Dust and Faunus in exchange for us to help them and the Kingdom of Mantle create a new settlement"
"We don't do that" I say to her, I can see her hesitate but she continues to read.
"They are offering their only male and inheritor to the company as collateral, so if anything goes wrong we will be allowed to do with him as we, please.
"There is one more thing, sir, his mother Willow Schnee will be coming with him, but only to help him train."
That was strange, not because the Schnees were offering their only Heir, but because he would be bringing his mom with him, Jacques Schnee was a man who had to rule over everything and everyone.
The man wasn't the kind of person to just let something or someone useful to him simply leave without a reason.
"Who signed off on this?" I ask her.
"Nicholas Schnee."
"Is that all?" I ask her.
"Vacuo is offering a large amount of merchandise and by that, they mean faunus in exchange for us agreeing to trade with them again."
"They are also offering maps to the areas where their people used to live as a peace offering. It looks like they are suffering from a drought that."
I nod at her words but reopening trade with a kingdom that attacked us in the past is something that everyone needs to agree with.
There didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary until I noticed that she stopped talking.
I finally turn to look at her and I find that she is mumbling to herself as she reads something on her screen before she moves the page down and reads everything again.
She did this over and over again until she finally stopped when she saw that there was nothing wrong with what she was looking at.
I watch as she tries to tell me what she just found but I can tell that something inside of her is stopping her from doing so.
"The Kingdom of the Faunus wants to start trading with us, but they are only offering money and Huntsmen." she says to me.
I can't help but smile cruelly when I hear that.
"Tell them that we will agree in exchange for extra hands, meaning that we need people."
"Tell them that we will only open trade with them if they agree that once those people arrive they have no say in how they are treated or what we do to them."
"It's done, sir." she says to me.
"Tel me why do you think that they keep offering us the Faunus? I mean it's not like we want more of them." I say to the girl who shrugs and doesn't say anything.
The Menagerie is the Kingdom of the Faunus, unlike Atlas or Mantle who believe in the supremacy of Humans over Faunus, it's a place where the animal people can live without Humans.
It is also the place where the founding members of the White Fang live and are the rulers of the place. They may not have the title of King and Queen but everyone treats them that way.
Menagerie if it was up to me, I would take all of our cities and destroy the kingdom.
I have no reason to keep the damm place alive.
I've been in this world long enough to know that there isn't a place in this world that's safe, I've seen enough ruins to learn that lesson.
I can't help but lean back on my chair and let out a breath, how many times have I stared at this metal ceiling?
"Sir, I know that you haven't slept and that you are tired but please try to look more professional." she says to me.
I can't help but laugh quietly, she hasn't changed since the first day and still acts as if appearances are important in a place like this.
"How far are we from Location Z?" I ask her and everything on the bridge falls silent, no one dares to say anything not even the ones that were using their scrolls to talk to the people in the other trucks.
I watch as everyone looks at me with shocked expressions, as the beeping sounds along with the static noises from the various devices are the things that make any noise.
"Location Z is about four hours from here but it's." she says to me but she stops talking when I stand up.
"Tell the councils that it's time that we get back what was taken from us." I say to her as I walk out of the bridge.
As the doors closed behind me, I heard everyone start to panic as they asked each other if I was serious.
Location Z is where city Z was abandoned after the White Fbag destroyed its engines, the place is covered with Grimm and wild animals.
The only reason why none of the Kingdoms have tried to take it is because they would have to use all of their military power to take it, and then they would have to repair everything, while fighting the wildlife and the Grimm.
It's the perfect place to strip any pity that the newcomers would have for the Faunus. We weren't able to save everyone and a lot of people were left behind.
"Attention all citizens we will be at the edge of the Kingdom of Vale in five minutes, if you wish to explore please have all of your paperwork ready."
"If you lose your documents or if they are stolen just find a Hunter and explain to them the situation, then show them your mark."
