Disclaimer: I own nothing to do with Destiny or My Hero Academia, I am just putting my own spin on things and having some fun.
You know, everybody has been real quiet in the comments section ever since Aizawa shattered the fourth wall. Are y'all okay over there? Surely it wasn't that big of a surprise... Right?
Anyways, yep Mori has unlocked 'Vortex grenades' and 'Child of the old gods'
They work a little differently to in-game but hey, I thought this way made more sense.
Oh and this will be the way he gets all his abilities, via experimentation with his light!
Anyways, Now that I actually have time to write I'm gonna try power through this chapter and #5. Get ready for a - - between – and maybe a... oh right. Spoiler blockers...
Meh, Enjoy reading!
Guardian's Academia
Chapter Four: Striking and Discovery
/"To all guardians in the field, this is Cayde-6 Hunter Vanguard. We have located a Vex experimentation site. Or the portal to get to it. Unsure of the class of Vex on the other end, initial reports state that four hydra class and one Timeless mind were guarding the outside alongside a Gate Lord. Scans are not getting through so be careful in there. Cayde out"/
The communication finished off and Solasi stared at her guardian blankly, unmoving. Her blue eye was unfocused, it was obvious to Morimitsu that she was thinking hard enough to not notice as he reached out and held her shell carefully between his hands. He gave his ghost a questioning look and tapped the top of her shell with his index finger to get her attention. At the sudden touch she looked up at him and whispered "I didn't think they would ever find us..."
'Who' Mori asked. "The vanguard, other guardians, people from my timeline" The guardian cocked his head sideways looking at the ghost as he let her go. 'Can you track the signal's location?' he asked. "Obviously, already have. Its in the middle of the red zone, vex territory. We would be taking the fight to them if we wanted to get there" Solasi's shell spun nervously as she replied "But I don't think we are ready for them quite yet, even with this new gear"
'New gear?' Morimitsu questioned, excitement making his ears twitch as his tail unfurled from below his shirt. Solasi bobbed once before turning to the bed and dropping a light chest-plate and a shotgun onto the bed. "Some light armour and a shotgun called Perfect Paradox" the armour was coloured black with a double green stripe extending down over the right breast, it was connected to a back plate by two thin armoured straps over the shoulders and plates of armour that curved around the chest under the arms. There was also a knife in a sheath sat strapped to the armour above the right collarbone. It was made to be lightweight and not restrict movement while still providing good defence for vitals around the upper chest.
The shotgun was also fairly smooth along the main body with a very basic stock shaped like a ice spike, there was a second spike under the barrel at the very front of the weapon, it was silver with some bronze accents and an 'XIV' written on the side near the insertion flap above the priming handle.
Morimitsu picked up the weapon first and checked it for ammo, weight and balance. "Do you like it?" Solasi asked while she adjusted the armour slightly to fit her guardian perfectly. "This will bring our defence and damage output up a ton!" Mori paused and looked over the armour then glanced at his ghost and nodded, his tail swishing behind him in excitement. "Good, because this is ready for you to try on, arms out wide" the ghost said as the chest piece glowed and disappeared in a flash of blue light and reappearing on Mori once he raised his arms. Solasi was right, it fit perfectly. It was comfortable, not too heavy and didn't stop him from moving as he twisted around to get used to the feeling.
Mori smiled and nodded to his ghost as he placed the Shotgun on his back, the weapon magnetising to his armour. 'Shall we go and scout the location? No, I don't plan on attacking it just yet. Mori cut his ghost off before she even spoke, having known what she would say. 'I know how dangerous it will be, but we need intel. And we need to strike back and put them on the back foot' the feline boy said as he punched his left palm, grinning at Solasi. The ghost spun her shell and glared at her guardian "We aren't ready to take them out yet, it's too dangerous" she huffed 'Then we don't fight them, but we need to get close to lock onto that signal and send a reply. Right?' Solasi stopped moving and stared at her guardian in disbelief "You aren't taking no for an answer are you?" 'Nope' came the reply, Mori giving her a shit eating grin. "Fine, but the moment things start looking dangerous we leave. And I'm not taking no for an answer either" Solasi said sternly, her guardian giving her a mock salute in reply. 'I really hope this is worth it' Solasi thought to herself while watching Mori tie his combat boots. 'You'd better be there to contact us Cayde'
Once ready the pair found that getting out of the house was easy, Mr Aizawa was out of the house. Either doing hero work or shopping, either way they only had a few hours so once out of the house the pair made a beeline for the red zone.
'The signal came from underneath a large structure, a shopping mall if my intel is correct, it's near the centre of the zone. Not too far from where they first dropped me' Solasi informed her guardian as they moved quietly through the ruined city. Mori nodded as he peeked around the corner of the street and checked for any sign of Vex activity. He held the Perfect Paradox at the ready, loaded up with 7 rounds of void buckshot. There had been one round sitting in the weapon, too old to be used safely but it was enough for Morimitsu to have a template to make his own rounds based off of.
As the shopping mall came into view around a corner Solasi suddenly spoke up 'SNIPER! Stay down and out of sight' Morimitsu immediately dropped back into cover behind the corner he had just rounded. He peeked out cautiously and spotted a pair of Hobgoblins patrolling the rooftops looking for intruders, a group of 6 Goblins were walking in formation in the street around the mall. There were also a pair of Minotaurs at the entrance to the building and Harpies flew around in the air around the street and surrounding buildings.
'I count 28 hostiles... that I can see. There could still be more and based on the way those Goblins are patrolling there will be many other groups of them circling in the same fashion' Solasi said as she took stock of the situation 'You don't have ammo for that many, or the range to deal with the Hobgoblins' Mori nodded and dashed from the corner to a destroyed car a little way out in the road.
'The hell do you think you are doing? We can't take them' Solasi hissed at her guardian 'Moving to a less guarded entrance, there must be a backdoor right?' Morimitsu questioned as he moved from cover to cover without being noticed. 'Let me check' the ghost responded with a huff as she pulled up the building layout she had found. 'Alright, there is a back entrance a few hundred meters down the road to the right, get across to that alleyway' she said as the feline boy looked around for where she was looking. Just across the road was a small alleyway between two buildings that led to the next street over. Mori raised his eyebrows questioningly 'Yes, that one' The guardian set a determined smile on his face and dashed out making it into the alleyway without issue.
The feline boy crept down the alley keeping an eye out for any sign of movement, he could hear the soft whirring of a Vex's core somewhere nearby but couldn't see it. He kept moving until he reached the next street, he stopped and peeked around the corner slowly before instantly pulling his head back in and raising the shotgun to the corner while he took a few steps backwards. 'Calm down, it wasn't even looking at us' Solasi said, Mori took a deep breath and placed the shotgun on his back, opting to draw his knife instead. It was a solid black metal blade with a backwards facing barb on the back of the blade and a brown leather wrapping around the handle. Mori held the blade reverse in his right hand and approached the corner once again, he peeked around the corner and saw the Goblin standing guard facing away from him. He crept up behind it until he was able to touch it, then he reached underneath its arms and pulled backwards with both hands driving the blade deep into the core. The glass shattered and collapsed beneath the blade and the Vex dropped limply into the guardian's arms. Mori caught the dead machine and with a bit of effort managed to drag its limp corpse around the corner and hide it inside an old skip bin in the alleyway.
Mori cleaned his knife blade and re sheathed it before drawing his shotgun once again and moving out into the street, dashing between cars and piles of concrete that had fallen off the building during whatever attack had happened here years prior. As Mori ducked behind a burned out minivan that was left at the intersection he heard some clanking and dropped to the ground for cover. He took a peek underneath the vehicle and saw the legs of six more Goblin class Vex, they came to a halt and turned toward where Mori took out the guard. The lead two moved toward the empty guard post while the other four held position in the middle of the intersection. Morimitsu kept still and slowed his breathing, holding the shotgun in his right hand he turned his head to watch the feet of the two that were moving. They were going to pass right behind him in his blind spot, having realised this the guardian very quietly rolled over and aimed the Paradox where they would be passing, steadying the front with his left hand on the charging handle.
The two Goblins walked around the vehicle looking away from the guardian, he hovered his finger over the trigger but didn't touch it. The two Vex walked past and behind some more rubble on their way to the alley, Mori got up slowly and moved between the minivan and another vehicle that was abandoned beside it. He moved from one vehicle to another making his way up the line until he was past the four that were standing guard. Now behind them he moved a bit faster until he was around the corner and onto the main street. He quickly re positioned behind a telephone box and checked the road for any sign of movement, there were a few harpies gathering in the area but they were all going to search for the missing unit by the alley. Morimitsu could see the side door just across the road. The problem was that there was no cover whatsoever, so it would be a mad dash to get across without being seen. 'I don't like this' Solasi said 'It's been far too easy to avoid them, and based on what Cayde said they should have far more powerful Vex guarding this place' Morimitsu agreed, it was too easy. But he still had to do it, so he steeled his nerves and bolted across the road at top speed towards the door.
Mori ran as fast as he could and made it to the door without a problem, though after reaching the door he realised a problem. The Vex had modified the locking system, the door would need to be hacked if they wanted to get inside. Solasi materialised and got to work splicing into the door controls. 'Keep an eye out, they may have sensors around the door. So they might know we are here now' Mori turned around and kept himself between his ghost and any possible threats, but to his surprise the Vex either didn't know or were totally ignoring him. Solasi cracked the door controls and got it to open, she then disappeared and her guardian moved in to find the source of the signal.
The two of them traversed the inside of the building, moving through hallways and wide open rooms. But they found no sign of Vex activity until they reached the centre, the ground curved downward in the centre of the mall, there were tall pillars of Vex design holding up the ceiling and keeping this whole thing hidden. Morimitsu's eyes widened as he observed the sight from his vantage point. He could see the ground sloping downwards into a circular pit made of Vex stonework, it was massive. Around 500 meters to the other side by Solasi's guess, there were twenty small Vex gates dotted around the pit, some were near the bottom while others were spread between the slope and the top of the ridge. Around 40 in total, but in the middle stood one massive gate, three to four stories tall, It stretched from the floor to the roof and had a massive wall erected behind it so only one side could be accessed. As Morimitsu stared at it in wonder, all the gates started to power up. One by one they all lit up, then the big one powered on and suddenly the signal that Solasi had received earlier was back, and much stronger.
/"All guardians keep on ya toes, that big portal just powered up! Keep an eye on those big guys"/
'That was Cayde!' Solasi said before she sent a signal of her own. /"Cayde! This is ghost Solasi, my guardian and I are on the other side of that portal, It's not an experimentation site, It's a gate to a new timeline! We are currently trying to gather the strength to shut down the vex on our side but we need help"/
/"Solasi? So that's where you disappeared to, I was wondering why I hadn't seen you around the tower in a while"/
/"Sundance? Is that you?"/
/"Yep, been awhile. We are gearing up to... wait, RUN!"/
Morimitsu held his shotgun up at the gate as it geared up to teleport something massive.
/"What's wrong?"/ Solasi questioned anxiously.
/"Vex Gate Lord is going into the portal! It's coming to you!"/
Morimitsu cocked his head sideways. 'What's a Gate Lord?' he asked his ghost. As if in answer to his question the Vex portal flashed a bright light and a three story tall Vex Minotaur appeared before them. The massive Vex made the ground shake as it landed back on its feet, It was massive. The weapon alone looked as big as a car, it was coloured differently to most of the Vex Mori had encountered so far. This one was bronze in colour with white stripes down its chest and shoulder pads. As soon as the massive machine landed it activated the rest of the gates, sending out a massive pulse of energy.
Morimitsu shook his head and dashed back the way he had come. Making a run for the exit he got into one of the hallways just as the Gate Lord noticed him, a ear splitting roar was heard from the gate room as the guardian just kept running with a look of pure terror on his face. 'Calm down, it can't reach us once we leave the gate room. Gate Lords guard their gate and never leave. We are fine here' Solasi said as her guardian came to a halt near an intersection. He collapsed to his knees shaking uncontrollably. 'That's what we are up against?' the feline boy thought, panic evident in his message. 'What in the fuck am I meant to do againt THAT!' he said as he tried to catch his breath. 'That thing is a problem for another time, we got a message through to the vanguard. Mission complete, lets get home and think about this after you get some rest' the ghost reassured him, trying to get him to keep moving. They needed to leave, now. This was still enemy territory and they needed safety so Mori could think.
The feline guardian got back to his feet and shook his head to clear it. He needed to move forward, that monster was tomorrow's problem. With his decision made he took a step forward in the direction of where they had entered, but immediately froze as a Praetorian class Minotaur stepped around the corner, it was twice his height and shared the same patterning as the Gate Lord. As soon as it saw the guardian it lifted its empty hand and opened it, releasing a beam of energy at the young boy. The beam made contact with Morimitsu's chest-plate and instantly he felt his light vanish, all his ammo disappearing with it as he lost control. His strength disappeared and he fell back to his hands and knees, struggling to get back up the young guardian glared up at the machine that had stopped him in his tracks.
Was this it, was he going to die here? No, Morimitsu is the name of a Guardian. Someone who stands to defend those who cannot fight. Morimitsu would not fall, not to some machine. If something was going to take him down, it would need to be one hell of allot stronger than this!
Morimitsu lifted his left hand and in one swift motion, grabbed his knife from it's sheath and threw it. The blade embedded itself into the focusing lens of the suppression beam and it cut out. Morimitsu felt his light return, it was overflowing, boiling and he could feel it moving to his will. The guardian formed two shotgun shells and loaded them before pumping the slide, he infused light into all his muscles and supercharged them as much as he could. Then he ran forward straight at the machine, it appeared to move it slow motion and he got inside its guard before it even moved to block him. To the Praetorian it seemed like the feline boy glowed and then teleported toward it leaving trail of light in his wake. Morimitsu pressed the barrel of Perfected Paradox to the core of the oversized Minotaur and pulled the trigger, the machine shuddered and stepped backwards. Mori just racked the second shell into the chamber and pulled the stock back into his shoulder, took aim and pulled the trigger once more.
The shot tore the Vex apart, the core detonating and the armour plates falling to the ground in a heap. It also tore apart the weapon it was fired from, the slide slamming backwards and jamming in place while molten metal joined the void light being propelled from the barrel of the weapon.
Morimitsu stared at the gun in shock, it was broken. After two shots. 'Solasi, switch please, I need the SI-2' he thought as he charged past the dead vex, picking up an engram on the way past and stuffing it in his pocket. The shotgun vanished in a burst of blue light and his trusty sidearm replaced it in the palm of his hand. Mori grabbed the magazine from the weapon and formed fifteen void rounds in it before slamming it back into the weapon and pulling the slide back.
The young guardian burst out the unlocked door to see a patrol of Vex Goblins turn to face him. He just snapped his fingers and formed a Vortex grenade in his left hand while he ran at them. Mori threw the grenade into the middle of the group before they could open fire and the lot of them were dragged into the centre and crushed to scrap as he jumped high over them, using solid light to jump again in midair to gain height.
Once he landed the guardian bolted for the safety of the back alleys, taking shots at a Harpy that had spotted him. Two shots put it out of commission before it even opened fire, the machine falling to the floor and exploding in a ball of fire. Morimitsu just kept running, he didn't look back as he made his way out of the red zone, Solasi taking his weapon and armour back as he kept running through the streets. He ran past heroes who were patrolling and civilians as he made his way home. Some people looked at him like he was crazy, others just avoided him while others still tried to get him to stop. He ignored them all and kept running, tears starting to form in his eyes.
After a half hour of running Morimitsu burst in the front door of Aizawa's apartment, said man dropping into a combat stance as he turned away from his coffee machine to face the threat. He recognised Mori and dropped his defensive stance "Mori, kid, what are you doing up? You hav..." he spotted the tears staining his adopted son's face. "What happened?" he asked sternly. Morimitsu just dashed at him and crashed into his chest, hugging him around his waist.
Shota realised that the kid was scared, so he just held him and rubbed circles on his back while he waited for the kid to calm down. "You're okay kiddo, you're alright. Let's go take a seat, okay?" he said calmly. He felt Mori's head nod against his chest and the young man let him go slowly and let the hero guide him into the lounge and to the couch. "I won't ask you to tell me what happened, you tell me when you feel like it. For now I'm going to get you and I a hot drink and something to eat" he said as he sat the boy down. He wrapped a blanket that he had on the back of the couch around Mori's shoulders and gave him a pat on the shoulder as he walked back to the kitchen.
Shota closed the front door and locked it, then finished making himself a coffee and made a second for his terrified son. Then he grabbed some chopsticks for them both and a plate of sushi he had made earlier off the bench. Shota put them all onto a serving tray and took them to the table in the lounge and set them down. He sat beside the shivering boy and turned the TV on. 'He needs time to process and something to distract him, not to mention sleep. But I doubt he could rest in that state, this is going to be a long night' Shota thought to himself as he grabbed the mugs and handed one to Mori, the feline boy accepting it and taking a sip.
After drinking down most of his coffee Mori grabbed the TV remote and flicked through the channels until he found a channel that was playing pre-quirk era cartoons. Shota looked at the kid as he wrapped his arms around his chest and stared at the screen, he sighed and reciprocated the hug with his right arm around the boy. After a few episodes he realised that the feline boy was finally asleep, his chest rising and falling in a constant rhythm. He slowly removed the boy's arms from around his waist and laid him down on the couch with the blanket covering him, after a last glance at the boy he headed to bed.
Mori awoke to Solasi talking to Mr Aizawa, he opened his eyes and yawned. The movement alerted the two to the fact that he was now awake, both of them turning to look at him. "Mori, you finally woke up" Solasi said, relief audible in her robotic voice. "Solasi was just telling me about what you two got up to last night, do I really have to tell you how dangerous that place is?" Shota stated while giving Morimitsu a glare, he then pointed to the ground in front of where he was standing. "Come here young man" the feline boy got up slowly and moved to where he was told, his head hanging in shame. Then Aizawa hugged him, it was so unexpected that he took a few second to click onto what was happening. "Don't ever think of going in there again without letting me know, understood? I'll be damned before I let some machine get you" Morimitsu didn't know how to respond so he just returned the hug until Aizawa tapped his back and let go. "I have to go to work, two of your friends messaged to ask if they could come around after they finished school. Make sure you have your training finished before they get here, I'll be checking to see if you are working hard. Don't let me catch you slacking off" he warned as he undid a knot in his scarf and turned toward the door. "See you tonight kiddo, take care of him Solasi" and with that he was gone.
Morimitsu was doing his last sets of pull ups in the house gym when Chikara and Kanohi arrived, announcing their presence as they entered the house. "Hello!" Chikara called out "Anybody home?" Kanohi yelled a second later. "I'll go get them" Solasi said as she flew off into the lounge to greet the pair. Mori just kept going while waiting for them to enter, he only had 8 more to go to complete his entire training routine for the day. He pulled up again '43' he thought as he let himself down, '44, 45, 46' the two girls walked in following the ghost as he pulled himself up once again. Kanohi whistled as she watched him, he rolled his eyes and kept going until he finished.
After finishing his last set Mori dropped to the ground and grabbed his towel and bottle, he took a drink and draped the towel over his shoulder. Turning to face the two he signed to them "I need to go take a shower, feel free to watch something on the TV while I'm in there" Chikara nodded and stepped aside "Yea you go clean up, we will be waiting for ya!" she said.
Mori walked down the hall and got himself a quick shower, dressing in his dark grey shorts and a red T-shirt with his combat boots once he was done.
The feline boy walked back into the lounge to see the two talking with Solasi. For some reason she couldn't keep a secret while he wasn't around and the two girls jumped up and rushed to him asking if he was alright and making sure he wasn't injured. Mori held his hands in front of him and tried to get them to back off, after realising they wouldn't he overcharged his muscles with light and blinked past them, appearing on the other side of the room. "What the hell was that?" Chikara said with a stunned look on her face. Kanohi just walked back over to him and tapped her knuckles against his shoulder "That was pretty cool, not gonna lie. But make sure you talk to us if you need to, okay?" Mori nodded with a grateful smile on his face.
The three of them decided to track down the missing member of their little crew, luckily for them Mori had already run into him at his training spot so he led them to the beach that was now looking considerably cleaner than the last time he had been there. Even if it was only a small area, there was now a clearing of sand visible. And in the clearing was one green haired Midoriya, currently trying to drag a fridge whilst a tall skinny man with long blonde hair encouraged him. Mori led the two girls down to where the green teen was straining against the weight of the fridge. He waved at the tall man with a smile on his face and sat down in the sand to watch.
Once Midoriya finished dragging the white box that was the current bane of his existence towards a white truck he spotted his friends giving him smiles and a thumbs up from Mori. "O-oh hey guys! What are you doing here?" he asked while glancing at All Might who was walking back from the passenger side of the truck with some water. "We tracked you down to see why you couldn't hang out today, but I guess this is a fair reasoning as to why you would be unable to join us. Training is important!" Chikara said with a clap and a mischievous grin. "After all, being chosen by THE All Might... you gotta work hard" she said quietly so only the four of them could hear. "Please keep that quiet, he doesn't know that you know" Midoriya hissed back before turning back to talk to his mentor. "Thanks All M... Mr Yagi" he said as he was handed the water. "No problem kid" Mr Yagi replied before turning to the three newcomers "I see you all know each other, you must be the three the kid talks about all the time. Nice to meet you all, I'm Toshinori Yagi. I'm helping train Midoriya for the UA entrance exams" Mori tapped Chikara on the shoulder and pointed to his throat, the lavender haired girl nodded and turned back to Mr Yagi. "I'm Chikara, but you can just call me Kara. And this is Morimitsu, we call him Mori" she said before pointing to the silver haired girl as she started to introduce herself as well "And I'm Kanohi, Nice to meet ya" she finished with a small wave.
"Nice to meet you all, now... from what I've heard you are all aiming for UA too. How would you like to join in on our training?" Mr Yagi said with a massive grin on his face.
Author's notes
Hope you enjoyed!
Hehe, yea so you know how Solasi said that our main boi was able to wield far stronger light than most guardians? She wasn't kidding... and he just realised his own strength.
Also yea there is a Gate Lord now and I thought that Praetorians needed a bit of an upgrade, something that makes them different from a Minotaur other than size. So now they can act as suppressors for both light and - … oh, wait. Yea nah that is a spoiler. Kinda.
Thanks for reading and see ya next time!
