Pacey's face was pure shock. There was no way she was asking. "What? Jo? Marry you…were 16."
"And I can't be without Pace." Joey breathed her eyes misty from all her tears. "Every time something happens my heart seizes in my chest, and it hurts…until I see those beautiful blue eyes." She heaved cupping his cheeks staring into those beautiful eyes. "And I feel alive again. You make me feel alive…and I want to be with you…forever…as your wife."
Overwhelmed Pacey shook his head staring deep into her hazel eyes. "Jo…"
"I never thought I could be in love with something or someone so much…you are my whole world Pacey Witter."
Pacey could hear the words, feel the love that radiated off her for him, he could even see the sincerity in her eyes, and he knew this was real. "I love you Joey…yes I'll marry you."
She grinned biting her lip before pressing closer capturing his lips.
"Good lord." Dr, Tiale exclaimed stepping in the room, his eyes bugging seeing the pair thoroughly engaged…again. "Do you two ever take a break?"
"Normally yes but we were celebrating." Joey explained burying her grinning cheeks into Pacey's neck.
"Celebrating?" Dr. Tiale asked walking up to the bed, his eyes tracing the clipboard in his hand.
"Joey…Joey just proposed." Pacey stuttered still awestruck by the events, pulling Joey closer to him.
"Congratulations." Anthony smiled but it dropped as he looked at his clipboard again. "Now to somber news. Were in the process of administering a medicine to replicate your stem cells Pacey." He looked to Joey knowing she already knew all of this. "But if that doesn't work, we will have to look for a transplant…also we will be starting you back on chemo tomorrow…it will be a more aggressive treatment so you may feel worse off than before."
Pacey nodded listening to the words. Even with the euphoria of Joey's proposal he could still feel the weight of Dr. Tiale's words.
Stronger chemotherapy.
Stem cells.
Possible transplant.
All he could do was nod as Dr. Tiale or Joey spoke, his mind turning to fear.
Would he live this time, or would the cancer take him?
