It didn't take long before Ace and her crew got comfortable on the moby dick and became more well acquainted with Whitebeard and his commanders. Marco, Thatcher, Izo, Namur, Jozu, and Vista were the ones who the fiery logia got along with the best. Also before long she started to call Whitebeard her pops. But once they everything got settled is where the real fun began.
Yamato made it her personal mission to teach Ace all three forms of haki. Leo heard about this and decided to help with it also because he was excited for another battle. And so did Ace begin her training from hell.
Both mythical zoans trained the black haired girl the same way Rayleigh taught them. Blindfolding and hitting Ace with a stick to improve her observation haki. Fighting against both beasts to awaken and strengthen the effectiveness of armament haki. Finally withstanding continuous blasts of conquers haki and even pushing back against.
After just a few months of training bore fruit. Ace's strength was on a whole new level in combat and just continued on growing. She sparred with Leo on a regular basis to further her haki and try to injure him. Yamato also showed her some new ways she could use her flame flame fruit powers. But Leo made sure to teach Ace that even though she is a logia that she mustn't let it go to her head and have delusions of being invincible. A certain croc came to mind for one.
Also it didn't take till Leo, Yamato, and Ace formed a solid bond of friendship. Fighting, training, eating, and going on numerous adventures together will do that. Also, Sora had grown very attached to the black haired D. So much so that she even let Ace sleep on his cloud bed sometime. The four of them grew so close that the young Portgas decided to tell her two friends and her pops about her biological father and her little brother name Monkey D. Luffy.
When Leo and Yamato learned that Ace's father was Gold Roger they lost it. They were so excited they bombarded the fiery logia with so many questions that Whitebeard had to punch their heads to get them to shut up. Eventually Ace answered and told three everything about her past.
Her mother's sacrifice to keep her safe.
Being raised in the mountains by bandits because her grandpa Monkey D. Garp thought it would be a good idea.
Her two brothers Luffy and a boy named Sabo who died later on.
And finally beleving that she doubted her own existence because of what others said about Gold Rogers bloodline being evil.
After hearing all of that both Leo and Yamato gave Ace a hug and told her that she didn't have to worry about that stuff anymore. Because she now had a family that believed in her. A few tears escaped her eyes after hearing that.
After hearing Ace's backstory, both mythical zoans decided to tell her their own backstories.
Leo's childhood on Fafnir and Onigashima.
Yamato being inspired by Kozuki Oden and escaping from her former father Kaido.
Reading Oden's logbook and learning Leo's father sailed with her father.
Making their way to Sabody and meeting her father's vice captain Slivers Rayleigh.
And finally training for years on Eden island to joining Whitebeard on this journey.
After hearing all of that made the logia's jaw drop to the floor. She was shocked by how much her two friends had been through. Ace appreciated them for their honesty and promised to be their friend for as long as she lived.
Ace had been a member of the Whitebeard Pirates for only half a year until she decided to get the tattoo. She got the symbol big on her back, from shoulder to shoulder showing her pride as a member of an emperors crew and a sign of gratitude towards her new father.
However, just after being with the crew for only one year something else happened.

(Leo's POV)
"Come on Ace we gotta hurry." I said excitedly as me and Yamato pushed our friend down one of the hallways towards the deck.
"Yeah come on let's go!" Said the wild oni just as excited as me.
"(This is gonna be good!)" Sora said as he floated along side me in his cloud form, though only I could hear him.
"Calm down you three. Will you two just tell me what's got you and Sora so stir crazy." She said curious about our motives. Over the last year Ace hadn't really changed that much other than wearing a red beaded necklace like me and a red sake gourd on her belt.
"You'll see once we get there. So let's hurry up matchstick." I told her jokingly.
Finally we reached the door to the main deck and opened it with gusto. Ace was shocked to see everyone already there having a blast.
"Well look who's finally here. The guest of honor." Marco said to Ace as we made our way to the middle of the party.
"Alright boys simmer down." Uncle White said as everyone went quiet. "Go ahead Marco." He told his second in command.
"You got it pops." The phoenix zoan said as he stood before everyone while me and Yamato grabbed some mugs of beer. "Listen up everyone, as of today Fire Fist Ace will henceforth be the 2nd division commander of the Whitebeard pirates. CHEERS!" He finished as the sons and daughters of the crew cheered as well.
"CHEERS!!!" Bellowed the crew.
"Wha, really?" The shocked logia responded as I handed her a drink.
"Of course you flame brain. You deserve it, from all that you have done for the past year this is a great achievement. Now come on." I said to her as I jumped up into the air as Sora turned into a cloud and caught me midair. "LETS PARTY!!"

"Oh believe me Ace, he did. I can't even count the number of time Uncle White tried to make me take up my father's seat. But I never had the desire to be a division commander, and I probably never will. All I wanted is defeat Kaido, open the borders of Wano, live as freely as possible, and to become the greatest beast in the world." I told her as I drank some sake.
"Pops even tried to offer the job to me also but I turned him down." Yamato said as she bit into a piece of meat and swallowed it. "Don't get me wrong it would be a great honor to take up the position that Kozuki Oden once had. But that's not what I wanted either. My reasons are the same as Leo's apart from being the greatest beast, I want to defeat Kaido, open Wano to the world, and live as free as Kozuki Oden did." She finished as she also downed her gourd of sake.
Ace didn't say anything as she smiled and listened to us. But then Uncle White stood up in front of his family and began to speak. "Alright my children listen up, this celebration is for Ace becoming the second division commander but there is another thing to celebrate also." He said as everyone present had looks of confusion on their faces as to what he was talking about. All except me and the white haired beauty next to me.
"We are also celebrating my nephew and Yamato's departure from the whitebeard pirates." My uncle finished as everyone turned to us with shocked expressions.
"Seriously?" Asked Jozu.
"Well this is interesting." Said Teach as me and Yamato gave him a questionable glance.
"Heh, well this is a surprise." Thatch said with a smile.
"So you two are finally ready." Marco said with a smirk.
"Why is this the first time I've heard of this?" The logia asked loudly as she rose to her feet and glared at us. "What is the meaning of this?" She questioned both of us with a look of sadness in her eyes.
"We already talked about this with uncle last night. Me and Yamato decided that it was time to leave and begin our own journey." I told Ace straight up as I continued. "We have been sailing with the whitebeard pirates for 9 years and we are strong enough to handle ourselves."
"Me and Leo also realized that if we stay any longer with the pops and you all that we will never want to leave." Yamato said as she and I rose to our feet and gazed around at our family.
"Everyone here knows how much me and Yamato love this crew. All of you guys are all our family and nothing will ever change that." I said to my brothers and sisters as they all started to get a little teary eyed.
"Though me and Leo are leaving, just know that if you guys should ever need our help we will come running." Yamato finished as she raised her sake gourd to the sky as I did the same. Soon the whole crew, even Uncle White raised their cups.
"Cheers to the whitebeard pirates and our family!" Me and my best friend said together.
"CHEERS!!!" Roared everyone.
"Now with that out of the way." I said as I put down my sake gourd and picked up a big barrel of alcohol and transformed into my hybrid zoan form.

But thankfully Namur rescued them all even though he was also wasted.
By the end of it, not a single pirate was sober. Leo and Yamato woke up together noticing they were cuddling rather closely with Sora in between their bodies. Causing them to quickly back away from each other with bright red faces.
After they both calmed down they made their way to the drunken emperor. Newgate was barely conscious as his nephew smacked him across the face to wake him up. Which caused the strongest man in the world to chase Leo all over the deck swinging his Murakumogiri. This commotion caused the other hungover pirates to rouse from slumber and stop their captain from killing his nephew.
With all that settled, Whitebeard told his sons to set sail for Eden Island. He even added that a few people will be there waiting for his nephew and daughter. Both mythical zoans couldn't wait to see Ava, Shakky, and Rayleigh again. Sora was also excited to meet his masters mother and trainer.
Ace however was a little bittersweet about her two friends leaving. She tried to persuade them to stay but Leo and Yamato were adamant about their decision. Both mythical zoans told the fiery girl that even though they had to part ways, nothing will sever the bond they shared.
The journey to Eden Island took a whole week. But when the island came into view, Leo and Yamato jumped with excitement. They were home.

(Yamato's POV)
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the island came over the horizon. Mine and Leo's home, Eden Island. My excitement was through the roof as was my redhead crush. Even Sora was ecstatic even though he had never been here before.

("You be master. Should I carry you and Yamato to the island?") Sora asked his master even though I couldn't hear him.
"Na, let's just sail there." Leo said as he patted the cloud fixed head.
"You guys sure are excited to be back home." Said Ace as she walked next to us looking at the approaching island. "Can't say I wouldn't be in the same boat if I went back to the east blue or saw my little brother."
"Yeah, we know Ace. You talk about Luffy almost Ji every day. From all of the stories you told us about him I think we know him better than you at this point." I said in a monotone voice, because for the love of god there is only so much you can listen to Ace go on and on about her little brother.
"Ain't that the truth." Leo said as he pulled out his scope to get a closer look at Eden. "Man, the island is the same as ever." He said before pausing for a few seconds before a large D shaped smile appeared on his face and passing the scope to me. "Well look who's here."
Curious about what he saw I raised the scope to my eye and looked through. It took me a few second to find the beach before I had a smile on my face as well. On the beach were two people we knew. "Listen Ace, just because they knew your biological father doesn't mean they will except you to be exactly like him. You are the only one who can decide who you are." I said as I sat next to her and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah Yama is right. Besides, mom and grandpa Ray are very understanding people. If you just talk with them for a little bit I'm sure you will get along fine." Leo said while sitting down and patting Ace's head.
"Ok fine. I'll talk to them if they want to. Thanks you guys." She said as she held out a fist before the three of us did a fist bump.
It only took about ten minutes before we were dock on the beach of Eden island and the stairs were lowered to disembark. Me and Leo chose not to take the stairs and jumped from the deck landing on the sand. In front of us were Ava and Rayleigh with large smiles on their faces.

Rayleigh said as he looked past us at a certain black haired girl that looked familiar to him. "Are you two gonna introduce us to your friend there."
I motioned Ace to step forward to greet them. "H-Hello there, my name is Portgas D. Ace. It's a pleasure to meet the both of you, dark king Rayleigh and red beast Soul D. Ava." She said in the most polite and nervous voice I had ever heard Ace speak with.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you too Ace." The dark king said as he looked up and down at Ace. He could tell that she was beyond nervous right now but he knew how to help. "Why don't you, Ava, and myself have a little chat amongst ourselves." He said to her as he started to walk towards the jungle. The red beast and fire fist soon followed after.
Me and Leo looked at the three walking away as we turned towards each other and smiled. "Ok let's get the food prepared before they get back." I told Leo as he nodded and turned to the Moby dick before inhaling a good amount of air.

"Yeah, we will miss you all as well. Next time you guys see us is when we take down Kaido and free the land of wano." Yamato said with pure confidence.
"KAHAHAHA. Ain't that the truth." Leo said as he had a small smile on his face and walked in front of his uncle and held out his hand. "Until we meet again uncle." Leo said as his uncle's eyes widened with surprise.
Whitebeard couldn't talk or move for a few seconds because when he looked at his nephew he saw someone else. The person Newgate saw had an orange kimono with a purple and white nio-dasuki tied around his waist, wild black hair with a large flat top that looked like a plate, and finally a smile that no doubt belonged to his little brother.
("Oden... Heh, you would be so proud of the man your son is becoming.") The emperor thought to himself as he grabbed Leo's hand and gave it a firm shake. "I can't wait for the day that Wano is free and open to the world. Farewell for now my nephew." He said as he let go of then nemean zoans hand and turned to the other three beside him.
"Yamato, I love you as my daughter and wish for nothing but the best for you." He told Yamato as a single tear fell down the wild oni's cheek and a massive smile appeared on her face.
"Red Beast, you raised a fine son and a man destined to do amazing things." Whitebeard said to Ava as she just smiled and nodded at her captain's rival.
"Dark king, make sure you don't croak before we meet again." He told Rayleigh as turned back to his ship leaving Ace by herself.
"Well guys this i-." She tried to speak as she was pulled into a hug by Leo and Yamato.
"We'll miss you Ace." They both said together as the floodgates opened for the second division commander. She buried her face into the white haired oni's bosom and cried for half a minute. Before I could finish, an earthshaking roar and a wave of conquers haki hit us both like a to of bricks. This shocked the three of us as knew who this haki belonged to. "Leo?" I said before running back home with Ava and Sora right behind me. He showed it off to the crew before going to bed but then it happened. Late at night Teach snuck into Thatch's room, killed him in his sleep and escaped with the devil fruit. Ace was beyond furious and she left yesterday telling us she would find Teach and make him pay." He finished explaining everything to me and Ava.
I couldn't believe this, Teach killed Thatch. Me and Leo never liked that guy from day one but I never thought he would kill his crew mate for a power. Before I could speak again Leo stood up, transformed back to normal, wiped the tears from his eyes and grabbed the transponder snail. "Thank you for telling us this Marco, I appreciate it." Leo said in a voice that was outwardly clam but we all could feel the anger behind it.

"But you already know what I'm going to do so I'm just gonna say it. I'm going to hunt down Teach and make him pay for what he did to Thatcher." He told Marco as I stood up looking at him with tear stained eyes. Quickly I wiped them away and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"No, we are going to hunt Teach and make him pay for what he did to Thatcher." I said as a smile appeared on his face.
"Now hold on you two, Pops and me just-. Ka-lick." The second division commander of the whitebeard was cut off at my nemean boyfriend hung up on him.
"Yamato get all the supplies we need for a two week trip by Sora's soaring cloud. There's something I need to do." After he said that he walked off to his cabin and a few seconds later walked out with his oden pot filled with ingredients with his sake gourd on top. Realizing what he was about to do I rushed off to my cabin and then quickly exit with my own oden pot, ingredients, and sake gourd.
"He wasn't just your friend Leo, he was also my friend and brother on Pop's ship. We're gonna send him off together." I told him with a smile on my face.
He looked at me for a few seconds before smiling and nodded in agreement. We then walked off to the beach and began cooking our farewell oden for Thatch. As we waited Leo swung his swords at a tree cutting log off and transformed his finger to scratch something into the log. The log said 'Thatch loving brother, friend, and damn good cooking buddy'. I laughed a little seeing that. He placed the log right on the edge of the grass by the beach looking out to sea.
Once the oden was done we began eating the whole pots broth and all. Sake poured down our throats to quell the burning sensation. Finally the oden was finished and we then poured the remaining sake over the log.
"Thatch I'm sorry this happened to you my friend. The next time we share a drink it will be in the afterlife." Leo said in a calm and solemn tone.

"We swear to you Thatch, Teach will pay for what he has done to you. That is our promise." Both of us said together as we then placed incense sticks in front of the log and got up.
Once we got back to camp we saw Ava standing next to a big orange cloud with supplies stuffed inside it. "I know that there is nothing that I can say that will stop you two from going. So I decided to get all the stuff you both would need for your journey." She said as she walked forward and brought me and Leo into a group hug. "No matter what you two face out there just make sure to stay alive and have each other's backs got it." The red beast of the roger pirates told us which we both nodded in agreement.
"I promise mom, we'll be safe. I mean we were trained by you, grandpa Ray, aunt Shakky, and uncle White. Together there's nothing that can bring us down." He said which can see me to blush.
"Ok, I believe you. Oh and one more thing. Try not to make me a grandma anytime soon." Ava said innocently but both me and my nemean lover blush like crazy.
"Mom really?!" Leo exclaimed loudly not hiding his embarrassment.

"Okay, see you later mom. LETS GO SORA!!" Leo yelled as he grabbed me bridal style and jumped on top of the cloud that sped off very quickly. Before long Eden island was out of view and I turned to Leo.
"So where are we going to start our search for Teach?" I asked him.
He looked at me with a D shaped smile then patted the cloud as Sora's head popped up and Leo petted him. Then he answered me
"Our first destination is the city of water and the ship building capital of the world. Water 7."
