A/N: Heyy :D this is chapter two! I hope you enjoy!
disclaimer: I don't own avatar (sadly)
The next thing I remember, I was awake, still sitting on Appa's saddle. I quickly got up.
"Am I dead?" I wondered in my thoughts, remembering the events that had happened prior to my waking.
"Kiri! You're awake!" Aang happily said, pulling me into a big hug.
"Aang?" I groaned, "w-what's going on?"
"We were found by these two!" Aang replied, pointing to two children behind him. The older looking one, a boy, looked shocked, his blue eyes seemingly about to pop out of his head. The younger one, a girl, looked shocked but less animated than her brother.
"Katara, Sokka, this is my little sister Akira!" Aang said, "Akira, these are Katara and Sokka," I waved, giving the pair a soft smile. I quickly hopped off of Appa using airbending, and looked at my surroundings. The land was filled with snow and ice.
"I am definitely not in the Southern Air Temple anymore," I thought.
"You're an airbender too?" Katara asked with a gasp. I nodded with a smile.
"Okay, but what is that?" Sokka asked, pointing at Appa.
"This is Appa, my flying bison!" Aang responded. The boy gave my brother an exasperated look.
"Right, and this is Katara, my flying sister," he sarcastically said, making me giggle. I didn't know what it was about this boy, but he made my heart flutter and my cheeks grow hot. Suddenly, Appa began to wind up for a sneeze.
"Look out!" Aang shouted, ducking. Unfortunately, Sokka did not duck, and ended up getting Appa's snot all over him.
"Don't worry, it'll wash out," Aang said with a smile. Sokka looked disgusted, and began to try and rub the snot off of his clothes by rubbing his body against the snow. I giggled again.
"So, do you guys live around here?" My brother asked Katara and Sokka.
"Don't answer that!" Sokka exclaimed, pointing at Aang, "did you see that crazy bolt of light? They were probably trying to signal the fire navy,"
"The Fire Navy?" I asked,"But we're airbenders, how could we signal them?" Sokka glared at me, which for some reason made my heart skip a beat.
"You don't know who you can and can't trust these days," Sokka replied.
"These days? What does he mean?" I thought.
"Calm down Sokka," Katara sighed, "Do those faces look like that of Fire Nation soliders to you?" Aang and I both gave them smiles.
"Giant light beams, flying bison, airbenders," Sokka sighed,"I think I've got midnight sun madness, I'm going home to where stuff makes sense," Suddenly, the boy was stopped in his tracks. There was no mode of transportation to be seen anywhere.
"Are you guys stuck?" I asked, "because if you are, Aang and I can take you home,"
"That's a great idea Kiri!" Aang exclaimed, hopping on to Appa's head using airbending.
"We'd love a ride!" Katara said with a smile,"Thanks!" I hopped on to Appa's saddle and watched as Aang began to help Katara up.
"Oh no, I am not getting on that fluffy snot monster!" Sokka exclaimed, crossing his arms.
"Are you hoping some other kind of monster will come along and give you a ride home?" Katara asked sarcastically, getting onto the saddle, "you know, before you freeze to death?"
"Ah-" Sokka started before sighing. He slowly walked over and Aang helped him onto the saddle too.
"This is great!" I exclaimed, "we're going to have so much fun!" I felt like every worry I had disappeared from meeting Katara and Sokka.
"Okay, first time flyers, hold on tight!" Aang exclaimed, looking back at the pair.
"Appa, yip-yip!" My brother said. The bison began to fly, but only for a second. We plopped onto the water.
"Why didn't he fly?" I asked, looking around Appa's body, "Do you think he's sick Aang?"
"I'm sure he's alright," Aang replied, giving me a reassuring look, "he's probably just tired from traveling for so long,"
"Wow, this is truly amazing," Sokka said sarcastically. Katara gave him a glare.
"Appa's just tired, a little rest and he'll be soaring through the sky," Aang responded,"you'll see!" I gave Sokka a long glance, blush forming on my cheeks.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" He asked. I collected myself, clearing my throat.
"Sorry, I kind of spaced out," I lied.
A few hours later…
I tossed bun-bun up and down repeatedly, occasionally looking to see how Sokka was doing. The boy had fallen asleep, and I had been taking this time to look at him and take in his cuteness.
"I wonder if I'll date him someday," I thought as I tossed bun-bun and caught her again. I watched as Katara crawled over to Aang, who was lying on top of Appa's head.
"Hey," She said.
"Hey, what are you thinking about?" Aang asked.
"I guess I was wondering, you being an airbender and all," Katara started, "if you had any idea what happened to the avatar," my head perked up at this, wondering if my brother was going to tell Katara the truth.
"Uh…no," Aang lied, "I didn't know him,"
"Why would he lie?" I thought, giving Aang a glare, "I understand he doesn't want to be the avatar, but he doesn't have to lie about it!"
"Okay, just curious," Katara sighed, lying down, "good night!"
"Sleep tight!" Aang said before turning to face the vast ocean in front of us. Once I knew that Katara had fallen asleep, I crawled onto Appa's head and sat next to Aang.
"Why did you lie to her?" I asked with a whisper. Aang sighed before giving his response.
"Akira, you know I don't want to be the avatar," he told me.
"Well that doesn't mean you have to lie about it!" I whisper-shouted, crossing my arms.
"Just go to sleep," Aang said, turning to face me, "we'll talk about it in the morning,"
"You promise?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I promise," Aang replied.
"Aang, Akira, wake up!" Katara exclaimed. I slowly lifted my head, rubbing my eyes. Looking around, I noticed that I was no longer in Appa's saddle, but a tent.
"We're in the village now," Katara said looking at us, "come on, get ready! Everyone can't wait to meet you!" Aang quickly began to put his shirt on, while I got up and walked out of the tent. Katara pulled my brother by the arm and dragged him out to the middle of the tiny village. I noticed that there was a whole bunch of tents, and one igloo.
"There should be more stuff than this!" I thought, "aren't there waterbenders who live here?"
"Aang and Akira, this is the entire village," Katara said, "entire village, Aang and Akira," everybody was staring at us, making me feel awkward.
"Why are they staring at us?" I whispered to Aang. he shrugged before looking at Katara.
"Well, no one has seen an airbender in 100 years," an old woman from the crowd said, stepping up to my brother and I, "we thought they were extinct,"
"How could the airbenders be extinct?" I wondered,"and 100 years? How long were we out?"
"Extinct?" Aang asked worriedly.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked the old woman. But before she could answer, Katara chimed in.
"Guys, this is my grandmother," Katara said.
"Call me gran-gran," the old woman said. I gave a soft smile and a wave.
"This is so awkward," I thought. Suddenly, Sokka walked over.
"H-hi Sokka," I said, feeling flustered.
"Uh, hello?" Sokka replied before turning to Aang.
"What is this, a weapon?" He asked, grabbing my brother's staff, "you can't stab anything with this!"
"It's not for stabbing, it's for airbending," Aang replied, snatching the staff back with airbending. He turned the staff into a glider, causing Sokka to yelp.
"Magic trick, do it again!" A little girl called out from the crowd.
"Not magic, airbending!" Aang exclaimed, "it's lets me control the air currents around my glider and fly,"
"You know, last time I checked," Sokka said,"humans can't fly!"
"Check again!" My brother said, getting on his glider.
"He's going to show off, isn't he," I thought to myself, rolling my eyes. And I was right. Aang began to use his glider to fly high in the sky, before crashing into a building made of snow.
"My watchtower!" Sokka exclaimed. Katara walked over to my brother and helped him up.
"That was amazing!" She said. Sokka quickly ran over to his fallen watchtower and tried to bring it back up, only to be pummeled by a bunch of snow.
"Great," he sighed, "you're an airbender Katara's a a waterbender, together you can just waste time all day long!"
"Katara's a waterbender?" I thought.
"You're a waterbender!" Aang exclaimed excitedly.
"Well, sort of," Katara replied, "not yet,"
"All right, no more playing," Gran gran said, "Come on, Katara, you have chores," the old woman pulled Katara away. I walked over to Aang, whose face was tomato red.
"You like her, don't you?" I said with a grin.
"W-what?" Aang gasped, "n-no!" But his red cheeks betrayed him.
"Ooo, Aang's got a crush!" I teased, causing him to turn even redder.
"Stop it!" My brother yelled, causing me to laugh.
A few hours later…
"Hey Sokka, have you seen Aang and Katara?" I asked.
"They went penguin sledding an hour ago and haven't come back," he responded,"I bet they're kissing somewhere or something," He made a fake gagging noise, causing me to laugh. Suddenly, we heard an explosion.
"What was that?!" I asked.
"There," Sokka responded, pointing to a big bolt of light in the distance.
"That's coming from the Fire Nation ship!" Sokka exclaimed, "everybody get ready for battle, Aang sabotaged us!"
"Is he saying my brother sabotaged his tribe!?" I wondered, a glare on my face.
"Hold on," I said, grabbing Sokka by his arm,"Aang is not a traitor! Whatever happened with that ship was an accident,"
"How can we be sure that you aren't a traitor too," Sokka said, glaring at me, "as soon as he comes back, you and your brother are banished!" I couldn't believe this. What happened with the ship was an accident, and now Aang and I were going to get banished for it?
"I really thought we could've been friends, Sokka," I said sadly. Even though I was mad at him, my heart couldn't help but flutter every time I looked into Sokka's crystal blue eyes.
Finally, Katara and Aang were back from penguin sledding. Little children began to crowd around Aang, but they stopped when Sokka spoke.
"I knew it! You signaled the Fire Navy with that flare," The boy exclaimed,"you're leading them straight to us, aren't you?" I gave him a scowl.
"Aang didn't do anything," Katara stated, her arms crossed,"it was an accident!" I was so glad that she understood that Aang was not a traitor.
"Yeah, we were on the ship and there was this booby trap," Aang said,"And, well-we boobied right into it,"
"See, it was a mistake!" I exclaimed, "Aang and I are not trying to sabotage your tribe!"
"Katara, you shouldn't have gone on that ship," gran gran said,"now we could all be in danger!"
"Don't blame Katara!" My brother said, "I brought her there, it's my fault,"
"No it's not, Aang! You didn't know that the trap was there!" I exclaimed.
"Aha! The traitor confesses!" Sokka exclaimed, pointing at Aang, "the foreigner is banished from our village," he looked at me, "as well as his sister,"
"It's not our fault! We didn't do anything wrong!" I yelled, anger boiling in my body.
"Banishment is banishment," Sokka replied coldly. I scowled and stomped off to grab my bag and glider.
When I came back, Aang was sitting on Appa's head, and Katara was sadly watching him.
"Come on Kiri, let's go," Aang sighed. I hopped onto Appa's saddle.
"It was nice meeting everyone," Aang said, a sad look on his face.
"Let's see your bison fly now, airboy," Sokka called out sarcastically.
"Oh he's gonna fly! He's gonna fly so high that you won't even be able to see him anymore!" I yelled, tears forming in my eyes, "you'll see!"
"Kiri, it's okay," Aang said, trying to calm me down, "come on Appa, yip-yip!" Appa got up and began to walk away.
"Why is he not flying?" I wondered.
"Yeah, that's what a thought!" Sokka yelled. Suddenly, a little girl started to cry and ran up to Appa.
"Aang, don't go!" The little girl cried,"I'll miss you!"
"I'll miss you too," my brother replied before looking at Katara, "come on, boy"
A/N: Akira has a crush on Sokka :0 we'll see how that'll work out. Chapter three coming next week ;)
