Chapter 39 Route 6

After arriving at Docking Port, Ash, Alice, Mark, and Delia decide to take a well-deserved rest at the Pokémon Center. Once they've settled in, they head up to the quest floor, where they encounter a worker standing by one of the tables.

"Hey there!" the worker greets them with a friendly smile. "My name's Kirk. I'm a worker from Jewel Mine. I love my job, but during breaks, there's nothing I enjoy more than drinking some Baawool Milk... But my stock has run out. If you could bring me 5 Baawool Milk, I'll give you a Pokémon as a reward."

"Baawool Milk...?" Alice repeats, her brow furrowing in confusion. "Where can we get some Baawool Milk?"

Delia steps in, offering some insight. "Baawool Milk used to be available at the Battle Café in Coralite Town, but I think I have some stored at the castle."

With that, Delia heads off to retrieve the milk, leaving Ash and Alice to explore the quest floor further. They move to the next table, where a young girl is waiting, looking anxious.

"Hey!" the girl exclaims as they approach. "I'm waiting for a Trainer who can help me. I have a Weedsea, but while I was training it, it ran away because it saw a Shrubsea—its favorite Pokémon. I think it's in love with Shrubsea... Can you help me find my Weedsea?"

Mark, feeling sympathetic, immediately nods. "Sure, we'll help out."

"I've heard that Weedsea often live on beaches," the girl suggests, her eyes bright with hope.

Taking her lead, Ash, Alice, Mark, and the girl head to the nearby beach. After some searching, they spot the Weedsea nestled among the sand and gently coax it back. The girl beams with joy as she rushes to her Pokémon.

"Oh! That's my Weedsea! Thank you so much! You're awesome Trainers!" she exclaims, clearly relieved. To show her gratitude, she hands Ash a Big Root. "Take this for your efforts. It boosts HP-stealing moves so they restore even more health."

With the quest completed, the group returns to the Pokémon Center, where Delia has just arrived with five bottles of Baawool Milk in hand.

"Oh, WOW! You got the Baawool Milk!" Kirk, the worker, says excitedly as he spots the bottles. "Can I have it now?"

Delia nods with a smile. "Of course, you can have all of them. We don't need that much."

"Thank you so much!" Kirk replies gratefully. "As promised, here's the Pokémon I mentioned. I don't have the time to train it properly, so I'd feel better knowing it's in good hands."

To everyone's surprise, the Pokémon Kirk offers is a Feva. Since Ash already has a Feva and Delia was the one who provided the Baawool Milk, Ash decides to let his mother take care of the little one.

"Why don't you keep it, Mom?" Ash suggests with a smile. "You're the one who gave the milk, after all."

Delia smiles warmly, accepting the Pokémon. "Thank you, Ash. I'll make sure to take good care of it."

To celebrate the long and challenging journey across the Battle Bridge, Ash decides to let out Dracubat for some well-deserved fun. As soon as Dracubat is released, it swoops down towards Ash, trying to mimic a playful glide. Ash catches the mischievous Pokémon mid-air and chuckles, "Did Gliscor teach you that trick?"

Dracubat struggles playfully in Ash's grip, trying to break free but without success. Ash gently places him back on the ground, a smile on his face. "I have something for you, Dracubat," Ash says, reaching into his bag. "Since it's nighttime, I think you're ready to evolve with this item."

Ash pulls out a Razor Fang and hands it to Dracubat. The Pokémon takes it eagerly, and soon after, begins to glow brightly, evolving into its final form.

Countula: The Vampire Pokémon. Dark and Flying Type. Evolved from Dracubat with a Razor Fang at night. Countula are known as "Terrors of the Night." Hiding in the shadows, they are capable of draining life from other Pokémon without their victims even noticing.

As soon as Countula finishes evolving, it immediately tries to sneak up on Ash, using its newfound abilities to blend into the shadows. But Ash, already familiar with his Pokémon's tricks, sighs and says, "I already saw you, Countula. You don't need to sneak up on me."

Countula, slightly disappointed at being caught, pouts and flaps its wings in a playful protest. Ash laughs softly and recalls the pouting Pokémon back into its Poké Ball. With a satisfied smile, he heads back to the Pokémon Center, ready to rest after a long and eventful day.

The next day, after a restful night, everyone is ready to leave the Docking Port. As they prepare to set off, Ash turns to the group and asks, "So, how much further do we have to go to reach the fifth gym?"

Mark points toward a distant mountain, towering above the landscape. "Just look at the mountain over there," he says. Ash and Pikachu's eyes widen in shock at the sight of the massive peak. "The city is on top of that mountain."

"That sure is a long way..." Alice remarks, feeling the challenge ahead. "But I remember there's a cable car that goes up there, right?"

"Unfortunately, it's closed," Delia informs them. "It's under repair, and it's expected to be down for several days."

Ash sighs in resignation. "I guess that means we'll have to keep moving by walking..."

As they discuss their plans, a sailor approaches them, catching their attention. "Are you headed to Highpoint City?" he asks with a friendly smile.

Delia steps forward, curious. "Um... and you are?"

"My name is Sammy, but most folks around here call me Sailor Sammy," the man explains. "I usually take people across the water to Waytide City whenever they need, but I've got a bit of a problem. I left the keys to my boat back at my house in Highpoint City. Would you be willing to do me a favor and grab them for me?"

Ash, always eager to help, immediately agrees. "Sure, just give us the directions to your house."

Sammy beams with gratitude. "You'll do that? Awesome!" He quickly gives them detailed directions to his house in Highpoint City. As Ash and his friends continue their journey, they suddenly spot Rick waiting for them on the path.

"So, you made it. That's a surprise," Rick sneers. "Let's battle now. I'll show you that I'm always better."

Ash, unfazed by Rick's taunts, responds coolly, "Sure, you keep saying that."

Rick wastes no time and sends out his first Pokémon, Stegron. Ash counters by sending out Kelpula. The battle begins, and Rick's Stegron manages to land a Charge Beam on Kelpula, but Kelpula retaliates with a powerful Aqua Slam, taking Stegron down.

Rick, frustrated but determined, sends out his second Pokémon, Oriture. Ash sticks with Kelpula, who uses Grass Knot to trip Oriture, making it crash to the ground. Before Oriture can recover, Kelpula finishes it off with a swirling Leaf Tornado.

Rick's third Pokémon is Casspring. Ash switches tactics and sends out Golemo. Golemo uses Rock Slide, but before it can land a decisive blow, Casspring cleverly uses U-Turn, switching out for Dinomite. Dinomite hits Golemo hard with a Submission attack, dealing significant damage, but Golemo, barely holding on, responds with a Self-Destruct, knocking itself out along with Dinomite.

With Golemo down, Rick sends Casspring back out, but Ash is ready. He calls upon Pikachu, who quickly uses Quick Attack to strike Casspring before it can react. As Casspring attempts to bounce into the sky, Pikachu finishes the battle with a well-timed Thunderbolt, knocking it out of the air. Rick's final Pokémon, Paraful, is also swiftly defeated by Pikachu's Electro Web.

"Luck was on your side again!" Rick snarls, clearly frustrated. "It doesn't matter!... Highpoint City is next for me. I've heard of a sailor on the pier who sails to Route 9, but I don't want help from anybody... I think that's more for some weakling like you. Haha!"

"Excuse me?" Mark snaps, anger flaring up as he tries to punch Rick. But Delia quickly stops him, placing a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

Rick, smirking, just waves them off. "Catch you later, loser," he says, before turning and walking away.

Alice watches him leave, then turns to Ash. "It's true that we can surf across the water using our Pokémon, but helping others isn't weak."

"I agree," Ash nods. "Speaking of which, I just remembered something. Rocco gave me a King's Rock back at Fallrock Valley. Maybe it's time to use it on Golemo."

Ash takes out the King's Rock and places it on Golemo. As the sun shines down on the Pokémon, it begins to glow and evolve into its final form.

Golossus: The Golem Pokémon. Rock and Fighting Type. Evolved from Golemo with a King's Rock in the daytime. Created by ancient rulers to protect their tombs, Golossus can sense disturbances to their master's well-being and will not stop until the threat is gone.

"Golossus sure looks cool," Mark says, impressed by the evolution.

"Yeah," Ash agrees with a smile. "Now that it's evolved, let's continue our journey, shall we?"

With that, the group heads toward Route 6, ready for the next part of their adventure.

As they make their way along Route 6, the group suddenly hears a loud rumbling noise. Alice looks around in concern and asks, "What is that?"

"Let's go check it out," Ash suggests, and they all rush toward the source of the sound. As they approach, they notice a group of moose-like Pokémon engaged in intense headbutting contests.

"They're Moostone," Delia explains as they watch. "It looks like they're doing some kind of training."

"That's really strange..." Ash mutters, intrigued by the sight. But as they observe the scene, they notice one Moostone hiding behind a tree, looking nervous and out of place.

Curious, Ash approaches the timid Pokémon. "Why are you hiding here?" he asks gently.

The Moostone timidly explains that it's scared of training with the others. Ash nods in understanding, feeling sympathy for the shy Pokémon. With a reassuring smile, he offers, "How about I train with you instead?"

The Moostone hesitates but eventually agrees. With Ash's guidance and the help of his Aura Weapons, the Moostone gradually gains confidence and starts to get the hang of the training. The more they practice together, the more comfortable Moostone becomes.

Impressed by Ash's kindness and encouragement, the Moostone decides it wants to join his team.

Moostone: The Moose Pokémon. Normal and Rock Type. Moostone trots around rocky mountains, headbutting each other both for fun and to hone their resilience. Rocks caught between two would simply crumble into dust.

Ash, eager to help his new Moostone train, sends out Deerash to join in. The two Pokémon clash with Take Down, their strength evenly matched, causing them both to bounce back. "Great job, now use Flame Wheel, Deerash," Ash instructs.

Deerash spins rapidly, engulfed in flames, and crashes into Moostone, sending it sliding backward. As they continue their training, Pikachu suddenly perks up, hearing a faint rustling sound from nearby. Curious, he turns toward the noise. "What is that?" Pikachu wonders.

Pikachu cautiously approaches the bush from which the sound is coming. Suddenly, a goat-like Pokémon leaps out, soaring over Pikachu's head and landing gracefully in front of the two training Pokémon.

"What the...?" Alice exclaims in surprise as she watches the agile Pokémon.

Before anyone can react further, the goat Pokémon jumps away again with remarkable speed. Mark identifies it immediately. "That's a Kidlit," he says.

"And it jumps so fast..." Ash remarks, amazed by the Pokémon's agility. Determined to stop its constant bouncing, Ash and Alice move quickly to surround Kidlit, gently blocking its path and causing the Pokémon to freeze in fear.

"Don't worry, we're not going to hurt you," Ash says soothingly, his calm voice helping to ease Kidlit's anxiety. Deerash, noticing the interaction, steps forward and asks, "Why were you watching us?"

The Kidlit, speaking in a shy and hesitant voice, admits, "I saw your Flame Wheel... I want to try it..."

"Oh, I see," Ash says, understanding. "Why don't you join us and train together?"

Kidlit's eyes brighten with excitement, and it eagerly joins in the training session. After several attempts, Kidlit manages to learn Flame Wheel, spinning in fiery circles like Deerash.

"You're doing a great job, but you still need more training," Deerash says encouragingly. "Why don't you come with us?"

"Of course, I will," Kidlit responds, happy to join the team. Ash then throws a Poké Ball at Kidlit, watching as it shakes three times before finally capturing the Pokémon.

Kidlit: The Goat Pokémon. Fire Type. Thriving in mountainous terrains, Kidlit can easily jump across creeks and gaps between rocky cliffs, making them crucial in search and rescue missions.

"I can tell they're really good helpers," Alice observes with a smile, and the others nod in agreement. With a new friend added to the team, they continue their journey with renewed energy and excitement.

As they continue their journey, Ash and his friends encounter a group of thugs blocking their path. The thugs claim that the way forward is a private area, refusing to let them pass. Unfazed, Ash steps forward, challenging their leader to a battle for the right to continue.

After a fierce battle, Ash emerges victorious, forcing the thugs to grudgingly let them through. As the dust settles, Ash's Ugling begins to glow and evolve, transforming into a beautiful Swellegant.

"Just like the story," Alice says with a smile, "the ugly duckling becomes a beautiful swan..."

"I know," Ash replies, his eyes shining with admiration for his newly evolved Pokémon. "I've always liked that story. It reminds me of all of us."

Swellegant: The Swan Pokémon. Water and Flying Type. Evolved from Ugling at Level 28. Even though they are one of the most beautiful Pokémon in Rikoto, Swellegant are extremely vain. They spend most of their time staring at their reflections in ponds.

With the path now clear, the group heads toward the Jewel Mine. However, they are stopped at the entrance by workers who inform them that the area is still under construction.

"I'm sorry, but we can't let anyone pass through until the work is finished," one of the workers explains.

Delia nods understandingly. "It's fine, please continue your work," she says, and the workers, recognizing the queen, gratefully thank her. But just as they're about to leave, a faint cry for help reaches their ears.

"Where is that sound coming from?" Delia asks, looking around in concern.

"It seems like it's coming from the tree," Mark replies, squinting at the dense foliage. "But there are too many leaves; I can't see what's behind them."

Without hesitation, Ash volunteers to climb the tree. "I'll go up and check it out," he says, making his way up the trunk with practiced ease. As he reaches the branches, he spots a Pokémon stuck among the leaves.

"It's an Irimp," Ash realizes, recognizing the Pokémon from his sister Elena's team. "Don't worry, I'll help you."

Ash carefully frees the Irimp from the tangled branches, but the Pokémon, rather than staying still, uses its ability to bring Ash safely back down to the ground.

"So it is an Irimp," Alice observes as they get a closer look.

"Yeah," Ash says, smiling at the little Pokémon. "Now that you're safe, you're free to go."

But Irimp has other ideas. Grateful for the rescue and intrigued by the group, it decides to join Ash on his journey.

Irimp: The Blimp Pokémon. Steel and Flying Type. Inside the metal casing of Irimp is nothing but hot air. They can expel the air for attacks, but to keep the air heated, they scour the land for more fuel.

With Irimp now part of the team, Ash and his friends continue on their adventure, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
