Alec enters the bedroom to see Magnus in the same position as he was when he left him. Rounding the side of the bed he can tell that Magnus' color is coming back and his fever seems to have broke. Hopefully that means that Magnus is on the mend. He still don't know how thismagic exhaustionthing works. Magnus is still unconscious and does not show any signs of waking up.

Alec doesn't want to leave Magnus side. It's hard to explain. He feels the need to protect him, to care for him. This man was so willing to help someone at the expense of his own life. That gained Alec's respect. More than once he has done the same thing. He sees a lot of the same characteristics in Magnus as himself. They both were selfless and want to help others. That is one of the things that attracted Alec. That and he could not forget about how physically attractive Magnus is. Since he first saw him he has not been able to stop thinking about him.

Alec moves a chair next to the bed. He picks up one of the many books from off the bookshelves in the apartment to try to pass the time. Magnus has a variety of books but unfortunately many of them are of languages that Alec has never seen before, much less can understand. It suddenly reminds him just how old Magnus actually is. He wonders what kind of life Magnus has had so far. What kind of experiences has he had? What kind of lovers has he had? Would he even be truly interested in someone like him? All of these questions run through Alec's mind. A man that has lived hundreds of years was sure to have many different suitors. How does he compare to them?

He remembers the conversation that he with Izzy before he left the institute. The Lightwood parents are wanting him to get married. They are wanting to use him to possibly heal the family name. Alec hates this idea. Not only does he not want to get married yet but he hates being a pawn in a plan he wasn't involved in creating. He is still learning about himself. Since he was young he has struggled with his sexuality. He has always been more attracted to men. His family wants him to marry an influential shadowhunter woman but he doesn't know what HE wants. Alec has been so busy trying to be the leader that was expected of him that he had not seriously thought about his future with a family.

Alec doesn't know how long he had been sitting in this chair. His phone is showing that it has been a couple of hours since Jace and Clary left. Weariness from sharing strength with Magnus is starting to catch up to him. He has to stay awake. That is the whole reason why he is here. To watch over and care for Luke and Magnus. It is becoming harder and harder to stay awake and make a coherent thought. A few minutes wouldn't be too bad. Alec gets as comfortable as he can in the chair and shut his eyes. It took just a few minutes before he falls into a light sleep.
