The first thing that Magnus feels when he wakes up is the splitting headache that he has. It feels like he has one of the worst hangovers that he has ever experienced. How much does he have to drink last night? As he begins to move a little he realizes how bone weary he is and how sore all of his muscles are. That's right, Luke. They had brought them to the apartment with an alpha bite. Based on the way that he feels it must have worked. At least he hoped it did. He needs to get up and check out the situation. As he tries to move a moan escapes his lips involuntarily. He hears noise to his right and weight settle on the bed next to him.
"Magnus! Can you hear me?" a voice says. He recognizes that voice. Alexander? He's still here? Not that he is complaining but he just wasn't expecting him to be here. He pries his eyes open and sees the face of a concerned yet relieved Alexander looking down at him. Magnus looks up at him and gives him a weak smile.
"Alexander, what are you doing here?" "Well I couldn't just leave you and Luke in the state that you were in?"
"What happened? The last thing I remember was using my magic to keep Luke stable until Clary was able to finish the potion.""They were able to feed it to Luke. Once you stopped using your magic you collapsed. I brought you to your bedroom to rest. You have been unconscious for about 8 hours."
"Is Luke okay?" "He is fine. Almost back to normal. He's asleep in your guest bedroom.""I need to go check on him" With this Magnus thinks he has built up the strength to stand. He pushes the blanket off and swings his leg over the side of the bed. "Are you sure you are ready to get up? You have been asleep for a long time?" Alec says standing.
"I'm the high warlock of Brooklyn. I can handle a little magic exhaustion." Magnus says with a hint of sass. He gets to his feet shakily and takes a few steps toward the door. He gets about halfway there before an overwhelming dizziness feeling, his vision goes dark and his knees buckle. Strong hands wrap around is arms and keep him from hitting the floor.
"Woah easy. I've got you." Alec says. A tenderness in his voice as he scoops Magnus back up in his arms. The room finally decides to stop spinning once the warlock is resting back on the bed. Alec moved the pillows on the bed so that Magnus is sitting up more in bed.
"Again I don't think it is smart for you to get up right now. You are still recovering." Alec says looking at him again with the face of worried.
"I guess you were right." Magnus says clearing his throat.
"You must be thirsty. I'll get you something to drink."
Alec leaves the room and goes into the kitchen. It gives Magnus some time to think. He can't believe that Alec actually stayed. It could have been because of a feeling of duty but in his heart there is hope that he did it because he also has feelings for him. Magnus hasn't exactly been discrete about his interest in Alec. I mean he made up the lie about needed Alec'svirgin shadowhunter energyjust to get him back to his apartment. He just wished that the reunion was under better circumstances, like him not so weak that he can't even make it to the bedroom door. Magnus starts to think about what it would be in a relationship with Alec. Would he even want to be in a relationship with a Down Worlder? Is he even interesting in men? Alec seems to be very loyal to his people and they are exactly jumping at the idea of shadow hunters and down worlders being in relationships. Would he deny himself just to make his family happy? These answers Magnus just doesn't know.
A few minutes later, Alec comes back into the room with a glass of what Magnus assumes is water.
"Here drink this." Alec says "Thanks." Magnus says as he tries to take a sip. His hands were shaking due to exhaustion and it was making it hard to drink.
"Here, let me help". Alec grabs the cup from Magnus hands and puts it to his lips to drink.
"Thank you but you didn't have to do that."
"You're welcome." Alec sits the glass on the bedside table.
"I went and checked on Luke for you. He's still sleeping and seems to be healing okay."
"That's nice to hear. At least all my work wasn't for nothing."
Alec made a small laugh at that. His laugh is magical in itself. Makes it feel like all is right with the world.
"Do you need anything else? More strength? Because you can have it." Alec asks, extended his hand out to Magnus.
"No, I will be fine with a little more rest and not using magic for a little while. Maybe a cocktail once I wake up again."
Magnus can feel sleep creeping up on him again. Even with the 8 hours of sleep he got he is still exhausted. Using magic like this always takes a while for him to bounce back from. Even though he wont admit it he can also tell that Alec is struggling to stay awake. How long has he been up? He doesn't want to stay in these clothes any longer. In that moment he decides that whatever magic he has managed to build back up is worth getting his clothes changed. Alec seems to read his mind. "Here let me get you some more comfortable clothes to change into. Where do you keep them?" "No need" Before Alec can complain Magnus snaps his fingers and his and Alecs clothes are changed into something more comfortable. Even though this has immediate benefits it also has some cons. The simple act cases his vision to go back and he is sure to pass out again. Alec comes over to him with a look of despair.
"No Magnus. No more magic. You need to save your strength."
"I couldn't just sit here in my dirty clothes any longer. Also since you have helped me so much I wanted you to be comfortable. Unfortunately, that act has taken just about all of my energy so I will probably pass out again any second so I am going to lay back down. You need to rest as well." Magnus says weakly. "Would you like me to leave?" "No, please stay."
Alec steps closer and helps Magnus lay back down. Magnus is back asleep almost as soon as his head hits the pillow.
