This is how the entire Halliwell family found themselves living at Hogwarts. The younger members all ended up split between the four houses someone was on had at all times incase demons attacked, while the adults had rooms of their own. Chris and Henry Jr stayed in Gryffindor, these two being paired as Chris was powerful on his own and the family all tuned onto Henry as he had no powers. Peyton and Melinda stayed in Slytherin, while Kat and Parker stayed in Ravenclaw. Finally PJ and Tamora stayed in Hufflepuff. They were all sure to group them by active powers and age to ensure the best protection for their family members as well as the students.
Wyatt and Harry opted to stay with James and Severus, while the rest of the Halliwell adults were spread out to be near the different teacher's quarters. The family friend, Billie Jenkins was on standby, as her children were still in school and they didn't want her to have to pull them out. Still, she was just an orb or beam away depending on who went to get her.
The family felt more relaxed with them all together, many of them taking the opportunity to sit in on some of the wizarding classes in their free time. However that relaxed atmosphere ended rather abruptly when three people stormed the great hall the night after the attack.
The entire hall watched in shock as Lily Potter stormed down to the head table, her two children training behind her. "How dare you show your face here, after what you did to your sister. That anyone would allow you within 10 feet of innocent children is beyond reason!"
"As far as I've been told, no charges were ever filed, so what you are alluding to is just heresy." Piper Halliwell surged to her feet, ready to defend her son in law. "By all means, have her file the charges. From what we've learned about your laws over the years that will allow Harry to submit to Veritaserum. From our understanding, it wouldn't be long after that for it to become certain that your daughter lied." They had all found it frustrating that squibs and mortals, muggles to the wizards, could not be questioned under the truth potion without charges being filed. Harry had said he would have submitted to it long ago if it meant clearing his name.
"Why would we make her go through the trauma of being the one to press charges against her brother, she had been through enough as it is." Lily argued back, but her rebuttal came from a surprising source.
"All the more reason for her to press charges and get the justice she deserves...that is if she deserves justice for anything?" Charlus Potter spoke up, and his mother turned to him aghast.
"How could you say such a thing, of course she deserves justice!" Lily practically raged at her son.
"I mean, no one ever listened to Harry's side of things. Not to mention, the only other witness is Violet's own best friend. A best friend who now wants anything to do with her." Charlus moved to stand closer to the head table where Harry and Wyatt were sitting. "I mean, as far as evidence goes, it all seemed pretty circumstantial, and also pretty weak." With that he sent a wink toward his younger brother.
"I absolutely won't press charges, I won't be the person who sends their brother to Azkaban. He may have hurt me, but I can't find it in me to be responsible for his suffering." Violet spoke up trying to be seem the martyr.
"Without concrete proof that Mr Potter is guilty of any wrongdoing I am afraid there is nothing to be done here." Albus stood up to stall the fight about to break out.
"But Albus..." Lily started to rage but was cut off by another voice.
"And it is Halliwell not Potter." As he said it, Wyatt pulled Harry to his feet and into a deep and passionate kiss, earning cat calls from his siblings and cousins, as well as many of the students. Their daughter even joined in the cheering, clapping her hands in her Grandpa James's lap.
Chris's eagle eye was the one that caught the look of distain on Lily's face and jealousy on Violet's. "Alright you two, get a room." His mother's playful voice drew him out of his reverie. He turned to see Harry's older brother also joining in on the cat calling, and felt his face flush when the man winked at him.
Charlus waited for his mother and sister stormed out before approaching his brother. "Hiya Harry, long time no see. Sorry it took me so long to get my head outta my arse." He rubbed his neck nervously. "Took me years of actually catching and dealing with criminals for me to finally start holes in Violet's accusations. Now I can't completely say there's no truth to what she has to say, as I don't want to take part in silencing a victim, but I can also say that I can't see you doing any of the things she accused you of. You were always a bit of a pacifist. So, until a time when the truth is proven I'm going back to the old adage, innocent until proven guilty."
"That's a lot of words, what is it exactly you're trying to say?" Henry Jr spoke up.
"I guess I'm just trying to say, I believe you more than her, and I'm sorry I was a right prat for so long."
Once Harry accepted Charlus's apology the one man was asked if he wanted to stay and help with the demons. Charlus had explained that he had put in for some time off from the Aurors, stating it was due to family business and was granted his request. Charlus jumped at the chance and gladly agreed to room in Gryffindor once he learned Chris was rooming there.
After hearing what his son had said about not taking sides with his siblings until more substantial proof had been provided, James decided he too should do the same. It also allowed him to come to terms with what is was he had been feeling for so long. There was so much about Violet's story that lacked the weight of proof he would normally look for. Yet she was his daughter and he wanted to believe she would never do something so heinous to her own brother as to falsely accuse him. Then again, everything he had known of Harry screamed that the young man was incapable of the actions he was accused of. Like Charlus he decided to toe the line between the two, even if he found himself wavering toward Harry's side.
This made it possible for him to look deep within himself and realize that it had been a while since he had started believing his son could be innocent. He had just never wanted to admit it to himself since that would mean he had failed his son.
"You know, daisy petals will help stabilize that." Severus looked up from the experimental potion he had been working on. He had been so focused on his brewing that he hadn't even notice Harry enter the room.
"You know potions?" He asked, finding it hard to believe any Potter would be good at potions. Though he was proven wrong when the young man added said petals and the potion went from a volatile boil to a gentle simmer. It was an addition he would have never thought to make as daisies were not exactly a magical ingredient.
"Piper taught me when I became involved with the family. I knew almost nothing about Wicca, just knew I had these powers and every once in a while a demon would show up that I would have to vanquish. I had managed to get my hands on a deceased line's book of shadows, but it was thin and not a whole lot of help." Harry said with a shrug as he read over Severus's notes a second time.
"I met Wyatt and Chris while I was working for an after school program. A demon was after one of my students and they had come to protect him. I ended up being brought in to help, and Piper took me under her wing. Her and Paige are great at potions and Chris takes after his mom while Wyatt, Melinda, and the rest of the cousins are passable."
"Don't let him fool you, he is as good as Paige, Chris, and I." Piper spoke from the doorway with Esme on her hip.
"You wizards limit your success by only looking at magical plants. The thing about Wicca is that some of our magic comes from nature itself. Many plants people think are merely muggle plants have properties that work well in potions." Harry spoke, motioning to the jar of daisy petals he had brought into the potions lab.
"I can see what you mean..." He trailed off as he studied how that one simple potion ingredient had affected the potion he had been working on for months.
"Just wait till you see what happens when we brew vanquishing potions." Harry spoke with a grin that reminded Severus of his partner when he was planning a rather ridiculous prank.
"That reminds us, we spoke to Albus and he told us to ask you if we could brew some rather basic vanquishing potions. They won't work on upper level demons, but the lower level ones won't stand a chance." Piper explained and Severus was more than a little intrigued. He was happy to place his potion under a stasis, and pulled up a bench to watch the two witches work. He was surprised to hear that they had planned to keep the baby with them, and that both had brewed more than one potion with a child on their hip.
That night as he crawled into bed with his partner, he found it difficult not to talk about all that he had learned. That James was unable to wipe the goofy grin from his face mattered little to him. He rarely found anything this exciting, and he was going to enjoy it...and then his partner.
Meanwhile, in Gryffindor tower Charlus was not having as much fun as his dad and Severus. He had tired to hit on the Wiccan witch, Chris, and had been shot down. Worse than shot down, he had practically been ignored while doing so, then told the other man wasn't interested.
He was so confused as he had never been turned down before. Guys and girls always jumped at the opportunity to go out with him...Merlin, they jumped at the opportunity to just flirt with him. But this man before him, wanted no part of it. He was not impressed with him at all. It was all rather frustrating.
"So what were the bottles Harry gave you earlier?" He asked as he most definitely did not pout on what would be his bed for the foreseeable future. He was disappointed when it wasn't Chris that responded.
"Vanquishing potions, pretty standard ones at that." Henry Jr spoke as he held up one of the vials he'd been given. "All you do is throw them at a demon and when the bottle breaks and the potion gets on them, POOF, no demon."
"Yeah, but they will only work on low level demons, higher level don't even get burned them." Chris spoke as he finished unpacking his things and climbing into bed.
"He's just mad Aunt Piper and Harry didn't wait for him to unpack to brew them." Henry received a pillow to the face for his comment before it burst into a bunch of blue orbs and reappeared under Chris's head as he plopped backward.
"They could have waited." Chris was definitely pouting, but what an attractive pout it was.
