"You want to learn how to make an umbrella?" The muscles in Professor McGonagall's face twitched slightly as he listened to Albert's words, staring seriously at the other man and saying, "That's what the O.W.L. exams are for."
"I know, Professor Flitwick told me about it." Albert nodded that he knew, "However, I don't think that will stop me from learning it."
"It's not a good habit to be overly ambitious, especially in Transfiguration, which is more rigorous than other disciplines." Professor McGonagall clearly didn't want to tell Albert about Conjuration, especially after the experience of having her door torn down the last time, "You still have a lot to learn before you can really touch on that aspect."
"Oh, okay." Albert asked after a moment's thought, "So, can I ask, what year's knowledge is Conjuration?"
"Fifth Year knowledge." Professor McGonagall answered casually.
"Okay, I see Professor." Albert nodded his head and turned around, ready to leave, since Professor McGonagall wasn't willing to teach him, he was perfectly capable of borrowing a book on his own, or buying a book at Flourish and Blotts Bookseller to teach himself.
What do you mean 'I see'?
What exactly do you see?
Professor McGonagall felt a headache coming on, her instincts told her that Albert might try to master Conjuration on his own, which would undoubtedly be a very very bad thing.
"Mr. Anderson." Professor McGonagall hastily called out to Albert.
"What is it, Professor McGonagall?" Albert stopped his steps and turned his head to ask suspiciously.
He certainly didn't think Professor McGonagall had changed her mind.
"Tell me honestly, to what extent have you learnt Transfiguration?" Professor McGonagall beckoned towards him and asked after Albert returned.
"To what extent?" Albert reached out and stroked his chin, then secretly meowed at his level 1 Transfiguration.
Honestly, he had no idea what level he had reached.
"I Probably... learnt the book pretty much!"
"Learned pretty much everything?" Professor McGonagall couldn't help but stare in disbelief, as if she couldn't believe what she had just heard?
"I've been practising Transfiguration and Charms until the start of the school year." Albert mumbled in a small voice, "With more practice, magic isn't really as hard as it seems."
"It's not as hard as it seems?" Professor McGonagall felt herself trembling, she took a deep breath and quickly calmed down, opening her mouth to say to Albert, "Mr. Anderson, if you can turn matches into mice, I will allow you to join my Transfiguration Club."
"Transfiguration club?" Albert looked puzzled, he admitted that his memory of the Harry Potter book was indeed a bit fuzzy, but it seemed that there was never a Transfiguration Club... Well, no such club ever appeared, only the Slug Club.
"That was a club I formed, twice a week we get together to discuss and study anything related to Transfiguration." Professor McGonagall explained.
Albert glanced at the match and then at Professor McGonagall and nodded that he understood, he raised his wand and began to concentrate on the incantation, the match grew larger at a rate visible to the naked eye and transformed into a mouse, but the Transfiguration wasn't quite complete as the mouse was limping on one of its legs.
Well, a lame mouse, but certainly a mouse.
Albert surveyed the limp rat and shook his head helplessly, "I've never tried that before, turning items into creatures, it's much harder than transforming between items, maybe after letting me try a few times I should be able to succeed."
Although this was Albert's first time to perform a change between an item and a creature, but the theory of transformations supported him.
Trying to succeed on the first try was a bit difficult, Albert was rather satisfied with his results, as long as he practised a few more times, the chances of complete success would become greater.
In Transfiguration, only a complete transformation could be considered successful.
"No need, you passed!" Professor McGonagall drew her own wand and nudged the limp mouse, allowing the poor little guy to regain his match appearance.
"Qualified?" Albert wasn't really surprised, it meant he had joined Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration Club.
As for why was he so sure?
It was the panel's prompt, of course.
The Quest to join the Transfiguration Club, which had just popped up a minute ago, had turned into a completed status.
"I suggest you, read some more books." Professor McGonagall rattled off a few book recommendations for Albert, clearly not wanting him to make haphazard attempts at Transfiguration, after all, Transfiguration could actually be quite dangerous.
"Okay." Albert nodded, he was going to read 100 books himself anyway, he just hoped that those books weren't too thin.
"What are you talking to Professor McGonagall about?" Fred couldn't help but ask after Albert rejoined his housemates.
"I was asking her about Conjuration." Albert explained, "However, Professor McGonagall thinks it's too early to learn it. But she invited me to join her Transfiguration Club."
"Transfiguration club?" The trio said in unison. "What's that?"
"It's a club founded by Professor McGonagall herself." Albert said thoughtfully, "To discuss and research anything related to Transfiguration."
"Are you kidding?" The twins were too surprised to speak when they heard Albert's words.
"You're awesome, so enviable." Lee Jordan was a little jealous, this was undoubtedly the Head of House special care for Albert.
George changed the topic. "By the way, do you two want to come with us to the Quidditch pitch later?"
"It'd be nice to try out some flying before the lessons." Fred chimed in, "Charlie won't mind two more people for the test."
"Are you going, Albert?" Lee Jordan asked.
"It would be nice to test fly." Albert agreed.
Flying through the air, something to look forward to!
Granted, he had ridden a toy broom once, but that thing was actually pretty boring.
They agreed to met at 4.30pm, and it was still quite a while until then.
Albert was going to go to the library to read a book, and after making an appointment with the three to meet in the Great Hall, he went to the library alone.
"Now, how are we going to have fun?" Lee Jordan asked, looking at Albert's departing back.
"Go out for a stroll outside?" George pointed outside the castle, an idea echoed by the other two.
Albert arrived at the library to find that there were still only two or three strays in the place. He found a seat and with the cover of reading a book, he opened the Quest panel, and the Quest to join the Transformation Club provided Albert with 2000 experience points.
"A level 2 skill?" He muttered in his heart, it took just 2000 experience points to go from level 1 to level 2, Albert casually upgraded Transformation Theory to level 2.
A level 2 Transformation Theory should be enough for him to use until graduation. As for Level 3, that would already be in the realm of professors.
