Katara looked concerned at Zuko and Iroh who showed worry on their faces, she hadn't looked at everything that happened but seeing Ty Lee on his tail, it must have been something regarding the fire nation.

"Congratulations on your wedding, miss Katara" Iroh spoke bowing a bit, Katara smiled back at the compliment.

"Thank you. I would actually like to talk to your nephew if I'm not interrupting something" Katara said trying to read his face as Zuko looked scared at his uncle, unsure of controlling his lying, as he was blatantly bad at it.

Iroh knew that leaving him alone was a part of helping him grow up, paining him.

"I was actually wondering, now that you are here" Iroh said walking towards her "If I could talk to the newlywed couple, I would like to share some words for your future"

Katara looked suspicious at first as Zuko stood frozen, nodding to Iroh so she could return and catch him alone to talk.

"I need a break" Zuko thought walking towards the drinks, Ty Lee and Karina close. Zuko noticed and sighed frustrated, wanting to mourn and feel without the need of having people by his side.

"Firelord, can I share a drink with you?" Electra asked near him, handing him a drink with a strawberry. Zuko looked at his guards and dismissed them, finding her company a perfect excuse as it was being with his uncle.

"I hope you are happy" Zuko replied as his shaken hand grabbed the drink, eating the strawberry first.

"Of course, my sister in law just married. Why wouldn't I be?" Electra replied, inspecting Zuko. "You look bad"

"Of course. I got a letter form the fire nation" Zuko said unsure of why he was leaning on her for support. "Let's just say it…showed me some true colors"

"Of whom?" Electra asked intrigued, unsure if it was a political adversary or someone close to him.

Zuko looked enraged at Electra, who looked shocked at first and then composed her eyes. Guilt ate him up as he looked down at the drink he was served, his finger playing with the glass.

"Your theory was right" Zuko admitted, calming himself and finally tasting the quiet poison he was served. "She ran straight back"

Electra looked around to search for her ex, noticing how it was an enormous coincidence that Suki was not present.

"It could explain why we broke up" She brought up that card, leaning on her arms as Zuko perked up. "It was my mistake to even begin a relationship with him"

"Why? Don't you love him?" Zuko asked confused "For a moment both seemed so…"

"That was the point. Perfection" Electra finished the thought "It started going downhill at the trial where I had my first misstep, I was either Sokka's girl or the murderer"

Zuko listened, feeling a bit more light in talking about her problems.

"It was for the best, the relationship was getting to nowhere. No marriage proposal, no public until we accidentally outed ourselves…if I knew some other guy wasn't taken" She said fluttering her eyes towards him "I would have probably been out of this city a long time"

Zuko turned around thinking about how Sokka did held himself the time Electra and him dated. He hated that he could not justify his jealousy anymore, other than he lost the unofficial war he started.

There was no time or reason to continue with his own farce. He had to break his own heart.

"Hi Suki, how is your night going?" Electra said cheerfully, ignoring her conversation with Zuko.

Zuko wanted to turn around and look but refused, focusing on his drink instead.

"Lovely, could be better but I need to talk to Zuko" Suki replied with her voice coarse, moving some hair out of place. "Alone"

"Do as your wish" Electra said strutting away. Letting Suki lean on the bar, she violently grabbed his hand and startled him, his golden eyes looking with curiosity.

"I promised you something" Suki said grabbing him and dragging him to where everybody danced. Zuko let himself be walked as the guests laid eyes on them.

"Suki"

Suki turned around and grabbed his shoulder, looking with intensity and other emotion he could not pin point yet.

"I promised to love you. I have made my choice" Suki said it almost chocking, her gaze fixing on his gold, where he could not believe it was happening.

"You promised to break my heart too if you wanted to get back with Sokka. He is free, this is your only chance Suki" Zuko said with his heart hurting, knowing that her wishes were above his own.

Suki stepped closer and smiled.

"You are still trying to talk for me. This is me talking" Suki said leaning in to kiss him publicly. Zuko merged with her and didn't hesitate, placing both hands on her waist.

It felt good to be chosen

But at what cost.

Sokka looked from the coach, looking away as he saw them kissing. Pouring more liquor into his glass.

Why had it all come down to this?

He wanted to explode in rage at himself. He was too slow, the news traveled too fast. He waited too much and know he actually had to play the part of being a good friend, because now that was his only role in her life.

"What the hell?!" Katara said almost running to Sokka "Do you want me to…"

"No" Sokka replied as calm as he could. Katara looked anguished at him, Sokka avoided her for a reason. He wanted to confide in his sister but it was her day. Not about him, or Zuko or Suki.

"Sokka I…"

"Relax sis, we already talked about it. I already knew" Sokka said smiling, looking at her with the best sincere stare he could act.

"I am sorry, I thought….you could actually do it" Katara said sitting down. "You talked so strong and convinced back at home"

"Maybe in another life" Sokka replied leaning his head on her shoulder "Right now I hope she is happy"

"But not happier than when you were with me" Sokka selfishly thought as he continued to see them dance, smiling and vibing with their friends.
