Toph and Karina got close to congratulate them, both knowing the back and forth they had finally concluded into something. Ty Lee on the contrary, was fuming. She knew something back then and when trying to out them was shut down as if she was stupid.
She was done with people looking through her, her best friends doing it, hurting her.
"Can you explain this? Both of you?" Ty Lee said approaching them angered "Out, not in the dancefloor"
Suki side-eyed were Aang was, who tried to reach for them. Suki walked first and Zuko followed, his grin not failing as they walked towards the backroom where they just fought. Everything happened so fast she was incredulous.
"I don't think it needs explanation" Suki started talking as she saw how puffy Ty Lee cheeks were
"You tried to play me as dumb" Ty Lee said pointing to the couple "That is not what friends do"
"We wanted to keep it on the low before…finally getting out" Zuko explained, trying to not out as Suki being de indecisive one.
"You think no one in the palace knew about you? You were so obvious at times that it made me sick, and I love love!" Ty Lee shouted angered, the couple surprised at the sudden rise in tone.
"Ty, why are you so angry with us? I know it might not be the right…time" Suki hesitated talking, unsure on how to justify it. She was doing it for her own selfish promise, to not betray Zuko and not fall for Sokka again.
"You need to stop talking for your friend and instead listen to them" he advised trying to calm her down, reaching for the acrobat who quickly moved backwards to avoid his hand, her frown deepening.
"We will talk back home, but for the rest of the trip I'm glad that I'm no longer on duty. You betrayed my trust" Ty Lee said bumping his shoulder, making her way towards the party inside the building.
The couple looked at each other concerned, wondering if it had been the right time to do it, following her.
Noburu and Toph sat on his table, unable to mutter any kind of conversation. He was used to Toph running away whenever she started to feel uncomfortable with slowing down, that equaled a relationship: a romantic one at least.
Katara saw them from Sokka's table, using them as an excuse to talk to his brother and avoid another drunk showdown as the last party they were all together.
"It's so stupid how they are right in front of each other!" Katara spoke, Sokka looked towards the table and giggled.
"It's Toph, you know she is as stubborn as a badgermole. She won't admit she is in love, not even if she was dangling for her dear life" Sokka replied leaning back on the chair. He grabbed his glass and took a swig.
"But they are just dancing around the topic, they eventually need to talk about it" Katara judged "Imagine if all the relationships were like that, how tiring"
"It happens" Sokka admitted "what are you doing here? You are supposed to be dancing and enjoying yourself, instead of butting in your friends love life"
Katara huffed "I don't want to leave you alone"
"Nothing will happen to me, I already told you I knew before they got out"
"That's why you walked towards the rooms angry? I tried to talk to Zuko and he didn't even want to face me" Katara said not believing his story, Sokka sighed.
"Kat, it's okay. Relax yourself and enjoy, my actual date is Electra, remember?" Sokka said as he searched for the blonde around the room. He wanted to face away from the new couple but it was almost as if they had a magnet in their backs.
"Where is she then?" Katara complained "seeing your ex with a new partner is not something easy to manage, and we all know you are…."
"No need to keep picking on the wound sis" Sokka reminded standing up "Let me find her"
Katara watched his brother mingle in the crowd trying to find his date, feeling uneasy and even upset about the sudden revelation.
She wanted to tell herself it was because Suki broke his heart and not because a part of her envied the fact that the firelord would fight against anything to keep the relationship.
Yes, it was because her brother would be in danger again of the darkness.
The night progressed with the gang playing and dancing on the floor until the newlywed couple had to get out of the party.
Aang was pretty excited for the idea of finally having time alone, almost waiting all the day for this very moment. They waved their goodbyes in Appa, preparing to fly.
"Ready?" He asked in a hurry, earning a funny look from Katara, who nodded agreeing. "Yip yip!"
He wanted to finally show his wedding gift towards her. Something he had work with Toph diligently and to the point of exhaustion. Having something done in secret was a problem when you were the founder, specially when the founder happens to be the Avatar.
"Where will our honeymoon be? I hope for Tui and La that is not the north pole because as much as I love that structure, working with them is a pain" Katara joked laying down on the saddle, relaxing a bit.
"I'm sure you will enjoy your stay, it's not too far away if they happen to need our service" Aang replied with a voice that screamed he was keeping something from Katara.
She let it pass as she expected some kind of surprise from him, after all, most of their relationship was like that. Unexpected and challenging, in a good way, she never liked to conform after all.
She felt Appa slowing his flight and that made her sit to look at her surroundings, trying to recognize the zone where they would be staying the next days. To her surprise, it was the land she loved the moment she put a foot on the city.
Aang watched every movement and face she did, rejoicing in the fact that the secret was well kept, at least long enough for not be spoiled.
"How?" Katara asked amazed, looking at the humble house, beautiful decorated with lights and flowers.
"Being the Avatar has it's perks" Aang replied with a grin, helping her down as they walked hand to hand to the entrance of the house.
"But…this was supposed to be a sacred ground, for your people" She said amazed "Isn't this construction an offense?" the concern shown on her eyes made Aang regret lying to half of the city about why they could not breach the zone or build anything on it.
Even if it was in the earth kingdom, he convinced them burying some of the artifacts found in the firelords old hall of conquests.
"Sometimes we need to tell white lies…" Aang said scratching the back of his neck "So peace or dreams can be achieved"
Katara smirked and then laughed
"You are something else" She kissed him on the lips "What will happen the moment they catch us staying on this illegal house?"
Aang grinned
"Well babe, I am the Avatar, they gotta deal with it"
The party had died down and they all took cabs or cars to their respective housing. The warrior was really tempted to talk again with him, holding to Zuko's arm to stop herself of doing it. Not because it was prohibited by him, but more drama would ensue and she was done replaying that role.
Keeping her promise meant having dignity, self respect and most importantly, pure unconditional love.
It still feel uncomfortable driving around the city with them, as there were no longer people available. The tension in the politician's car was so palpable that a single word might make the whole car crash.
So the ride back at the department was uncomfortable and silent. Sokka kept looking at the window and she could not help but stare, wondering what was running through his mind. Was it something related to their last meeting?
"You can still keep your word, you promised him something else too" Sokka said with watery eyes, his hands gripping hers.
It might have been a mistake telling her about the deal that included breaking her friends with benefits heart in case she was sure she was going to be with Sokka.
But it was not fair to just jump at the opportunity without taking in account the reality: She was not sure they would be in the long run together. They didn't even knew each other, if the distance was something that helped the relationship crack, now was the biggest reminder that nothing good would come out of reviving something dead.
Or something that was supposed to be dead.
"You know that's not fair for him" Suki said looking away, her own tears trying to escape and betray her. "He is your friend too, you know what he has been through"
"What about you? What about me? Everything we have been through?" Sokka said desperate, his voice breaking
"It doesn't matter anymore. It's in the past. We need to be realistic and look at the future. When we had our chance…" Suki overthought, remembering the last time they broke up and how insistent she was on keeping the relationship even after the infidelity.
"I messed it up, yes. Not once or twice, thrice. We said we would be friends-" Sokka urged with sweat on his hands.
"And as a friend I'm giving you a heads up" Suki interrupted, detangling from him "Please don't make this harder"
"Thank you for the ride" Zuko said as they arrived to the complex, trying to open the door as fast as he could.
"No problem, congratulations on your relationship too" Electra said digging the dagger in Sokka, who did his best to nod along her. "We should hang out the four of us together when you visit the city again"
"We will" Zuko said as he helped Suki walk out of the car, her face almost pale at the realization that they were now a couple.
That she had proven Mai wrong about not loving Zuko enough, that she had now to resign at being his personal guardian.
"Suki, are you okay?" He asked concerned as they walked toward the infinite pair of stairs.
"Yes, I just have to get through my thoughts and I have to reorganize everything when we go back" She admitted
"Why?" He asked "Is this because Ty Lee went…"
"No, because your sister is right. I am a liability to you and the kingdom if we are a couple AND I am your bodyguard"
Zuko face went from confusing to a big open mouth.
"We can change that" He said "There is nothing wrong with-"
"This is not a fire nation issue, is my principles" Suki said as they reached the main lobby "I will resign and give Karina my blessing"
"No thanks!" Karina said closing the door "I think Zuko is right on that one, unless you really want to step down"
Suki smiled sadly
"I should have since a really long time ago, this is just the final push" She said walking towards her room "Goodnight"
"How are you fairing with all of this?"
Electra voice was almost alike to his therapist, and he hated it. He wasn't sure if it was the mix from the party and the one in his house that made him hear her like that or the actual concern in her.
The cold pal actually showing feelings, that must meant he looked wrecked.
"Not well, obviously, if I was you wouldn't be asking me anything" He said rudely, mixing his drink "sorry"
"It's fine, I get it. I was so sure you were getting with her again, I almost made sure it would happen" Electra said detangling her hair with the brush on the table.
"What?" Sokka turned around, unsure if he had heard right "You had something to do?"
"Well of course, I would not leave you alone on this, even more after knowing you actually have changed…a bit" She joked, biting her lip.
"What did you do? You can't manipulate people around you!" Sokka exclaimed angered at Suki falling for her tricks.
"I didn't do anything he didn't want to do. I just gave him the push" Electra defended herself "Not my fault it backfired"
"What? Him? Zuko?" He asked quickly as he drank
"Yes, the firelord. I got in his head and made him let Suki go so she could experience everything. I knew Suki already had her own doubts the moment I caught them and Zuko too, as judging for her reaction, it was something so casual" Electra explained
"You knew about them?" Sokka interrogated upset "Why didn't you say anything?"
"What would have changed? I am almost certain that you would have fought him" Electra said now frowning
Sokka shrugged
"As I was saying, Zuko then left Suki, that lead her to you, I didn't know if you fucked it up again even after I clearly let an opening and she went back to him, not you, for the first time" Electra said with spite, another dagger in his heart.
"I didn't do anything" Sokka defended himself hurt
"Obviously" Electra said with sarcasm, standing up
"She made a promise to him" Sokka said looking to nowhere in the room.
"Of what? Of love?" Electra mocked, waiting for him to answer. As the silence fell and reigned in the room, she walked instead towards him to hug him, offering support.
"That's bad luck, I'm so sorry for you" Electra said sincerely, patting his head. He embraced her and sniffed, both rocking back and forth in an attempt to calm down the bleeding inside of him.
As much as Suki was tired from the previous activities she could not catch sleep in the comfort of her bed. Her eyes glued to the ceiling without any carving, reminding her the solitude and comfort of her cabin back at home.
"Ty Lee is right…it was not right of me to just ignore her after all the support she has given to me" Suki overthought with her heart thumping loudly, the weight finally in.
It wasn't that she didn't love Zuko enough to happily live with him, it was that she could not keep herself away from Sokka as much as she tried.
"Suki please, I'm begging you" Sokka said biting his lip, so hard it looked almost as if it wanted to bust open.
Suki's tears started to fall down as she looked at the ocean in his face, sharing his pain. It was time to move on, to close the chapter after all the time thinking and crying about him.
"Don't beg me, I can't deny you" Suki replied with a hiccup
"Then don't" Sokka quickly said "I'm sure…I'm sure I can show you that i can be your perfect partner. I'd do anything for you, I have even found out that I can nurture you more. Give me the chance to show it to you"
She stood up and walked away from him, rearranging her dress as she struggled to not cry at his proposal. Something inside of her was screaming to give him a chance, it didn't feel like the first time they reunited at the palace, where they kissed-fought-made up and still felt incomplete.
It was a new feeling, something she had lost since she was diagnosed with the darkness.
Hope
She looked at him, who stood up at the other side of the room staring through her. His sky blue eyes squeaky clean, the light almost painting him as modern art. He also had the same feeling inside
He had hope
She walked slowly feeling a trail of fire behind her, if she ever accepted his proposal. Azula would probably manipulate Zuko easily, she did not want another stupid war to happen if she happened to usurp the throne.
She needed to take care of Sokka and her friends in other ways.
"Do you love me?" Suki asked, her touch on his skin sending bolts straight to her heart, that thumped louder than his breath.
"I do, please " He begged, his hands cupping her face.
"Trust me please. I love you" Suki said with seriousness, feeling sicker at how Sokka seemed to smile "But I need to be with Zuko"
His face dropped and he couldn't hide his sadness, crying. He wanted to get away and she quickly kissed him, trying to make him feel all the love and passion she felt for him.
"I don't understand" Sokka said sniffing "Suki…"
"I am breaking your heart and it pains me" Suki admitted with burning tears down her face. "But I need to do this. As I said before…"
"Don't wait for you" Sokka finished, falling to his knees and hugging her. Suki could only hug his head, giving soft kisses to it.
A dark moment went trough her head, suicide being a good option. Only if it happened on battle, was her motto. She moved away from him slowly, as he let her go with his arms reluctantly pulling apart.
She kneeled down and kissed him again
"I love you, I always will Sokka" She said with her pitch higher, making Sokka smile a bit.
"I will too, Suki, even after you marry her, I will love you" He said with his lip quivering, both standing up.
Neither of them wanted to move out of the room, knowing that getting out meant it being true.
"Go first" Sokka said, burying his hands on his pants "Tell him, send him my blessing"
Suki took a deep breath and turned around, walking as fast as she could out of the room and into finding Zuko, before betraying herself and running back.
Suki cleaned the dry tear on her face, the pit on her stomach getting deeper. She grabbed a pillow and screamed at it, her throat tiring.
Sokka was very vocal about it, as Electra brushed his hair as he used to do. Mourning as if she had died, the feelings higher than usual thanks to all the alcohol in his body.
The puffiness in her eyes reminded her the hour she finally fell asleep, as she tried to stand up and do her bag to return to the palace. They still had a day left but she didn't want to engage with her friends.
She didn't want to answer their questions.
A soft knock on her door signaled her it was Zuko the one wanting to see her, she looked at her mirror and sighed, walking towards the door to open it.
"We are going to go out to eat something with Toph, want to come?" Zuko asked, the smile in his face was charming, as it was rare to see it.
"Let me just change into something quick" She replied as Zuko hummed, closing the door. She grabbed a pair of dark blue pants and a turtleneck sweater with the color of her city, the light blue.
She opted to have a half do bun in her head so it wouldn't interfere with her eating, grabbing the pinkish lipstick Ty Lee had gifted her.
She still needed to apologize to her.
"Zuko" She called, as Zuko hummed loudly "I'll catch you there, I need to do something first"
"Sure?" Zuko asked as Suki hummed in return "We'll be at the crowfiish place" leaving her alone.
"Well that was easy" Suki thought getting out of the room and walking towards Ty Lee's, who must be sleeping due to the alcohol she drank at the wedding. She knocked in the special way they used to, as feet ran towards the door.
"What do you want?" Ty Lee asked annoyed, her messy hair indicating that she was indeed, asleep.
"I…wanted to apologize" Suki replied a bit intimidated "I shouldn't have hid it from you"
"Do you really want to talk about the topic here?" Ty Lee replied more angered "GET OUT"
The door was slammed in her face and Suki felt horrible, as Ty Lee being aggressive was out of the ordinary. She must have really messed it up for her to act that way.
She walked away and out of the house, unable to face that she burned a bridge.
"You need to eat, you never skip breakfast"
Electra said with the food jn the small tray, sitting besides Sokka. He was still curled in the sheets of his bed, unsure of why he suddenly felt cold in the night after falling asleep from all the crying.
"You do and I don't press you" Sokka said annoyed "Sorry again"
"You can always speak your mind with me" Electra said benevolent "That doesn't mean I won't call you out for it. You can't starve yourself for her love"
Sokka turned around more annoyed, sitting up.
"Stop pressing the issue Electra" Sokka said standing up "Let me shower first at least"
Electra sighed slightly irritated. Not only her plan had failed in a streak that was of constant failure she hadn't had in a long time, but Sokka was acting the same as the first year they started dating.
She had to either make him force the issue or play along so he could forget about it.
"I'll go out for breakfast with Toph" Electra said as Sokka whistled, making her sigh for the second time. "I'll wait for you over there"
"Where?" Sokka said giggling "At her room?"
Third time she sighed
"Fuck you"
"I missed eating some good fish" Zuko said biting into his food, the poor flyingshrimp hadn't missed that.
"I knew you would love this place, I only eat some cheesy fried fish in here when I like to discuss about work" Toph said drinking, waiting for her order "What about Suki? I thought she would come with you"
"She overslept, she told me to go first so you wouldn't wait alone" He replied smiling "The bill is on me, I still haven't thanked you enough for your help with Azula"
"Don't say it too loud" Toph reprimanded, the firelord biting his food. "But I'll take your offer on the food"
"Is she known too here?" He asked as Toph rised and eyebrow
"Well, she was the public enemy next to your father, of course she is known" Toph replied mocking the innocence, as if changing the place changed the history. "I hope she doesn't get out of the fire nation"
"I don't think she will" Zuko continued, as Toph smiled "I'll keep her under my wing"
"Who?" Suki asked as she sat down next to Zuko, who smiled as a pupper with a new toy.
"Good to see your presence Suki" Toph said with a small smile "I like your hair today"
"Thank you! I- WAIT" Suki said with a fake pout as Toph laughed "caught me"
"Your mind should be here bombshell" Toph said gesturing to her "Not him"
The couple blushed, being acknowledged was still unusual to them, specially by their friends. Suki tried to say something but blabbering came out of her mouth
"What about Noburu?" Zuko asked with a grin, now it was the earthbender's turn to blush.
"What about him?" Toph said defensivile "We won't be a couple"
"Why not? You look cute together" Suki replied with a smirk, loving to pick on her. She would never admit being a romantic girl, but when she confided in her about loving two boys, Toph was the one that got into multiple endings and fake charming discussions.
"Stop it, you can't force me or him. We work together and that's it" Toph said crossing her arms in defense
"You work very loudly at times, so they say" Electra said sitting by Toph, who blushed at the sudden exposure of her sex life.
"WHAT?" Zuko and Suki said in unison "Since when?"
"Scramm off my back horndogs! I am an adult" Toph said wanting to push Electra away "I wish I could have a refined word to you, bitch"
Electra laughed as Toph's tantrum, messing her bun "Calm down chief, people would have told them anyway"
"Yup" Suki said as she noticed Electra sudden interest in Zuko "Did you come alone?" she asked trying to spark conversation, Zuko looking odd at her.
"No, my partner is buying some drinks" Electra said searching for Sokka "Over there" She pointed at Ty Lee, deceiving her as a weight came off Suki's shoulders.
"When did you two met?" Zuko asked curious "She was staying with us"
"Let's say she was on the road and I just lifted her" Electra said with a sincere smile.
"Have you ordered anything else?" Suki asked Zuko who looked sheepily for not waiting.
"Just this, are we all so the server can take our order?" Zuko asked as Ty Lee sat by Electra's side.
"No, we are missing one more" Ty lee said trying to control her tone, something Toph picked.
"What's wrong? Did last night conquer wasn't impressed by your tricks?" She mocked as Ty Lee rolled her eyes
"I didn't know he was Noburu, stop making it bigger" Ty lee exposed her as the guests smirked as Toph's frigid posture.
"Whaterever" She complained "When the hell is he-" Toph started as Sokka arrived at the table interrupted, drink in hand already
"Here, where do I fit?" He asked almost trying to make Ty Lee move, who didn't budge a bit. He rolled his eyes and sat by Suki, who was a bit surprised but now more nervous.
I thought Electra said she was with Ty lee, of course Sokka would be involved, they still live together, what a jerk.
He has some strong perfume, judging but Zuko's finger posing on his nose as natural as he can. I am not sure if it's my feelings or the table suddenly went too serious, it's just food.
"Suki, your turn" Zuko whispered as the waitress looked bored
"I'll like some meat with veggies and noodles" Suki concluded nudging Sokka, who wasn't sure what to order.
"The usual" He said as the waitress nodded, leaving the table. "So what was the topic?"
"Noburu and Toph" Electra said as Sokka rolled his eyes, he doesn't look as tense as I thought.
"Leave them alone, they are children" Sokka replied relaxing his back on the booth, of course he would act all cool by my side.
"Who apparently have a very sexual life" I murmured giggling, making Sokka eye me with a bit of annoyance
"What?" He asked shocked as Electra and Ty Lee laughed "You mean this is not a joke? What the hell Toph?"
"HOLD UP" Toph said feeling pressure "No one needed to know about that, thanks jerks"
"In the office?" Sokka asked smirking as Toph shrugged, making him laugh. "Incorrigible"
"As if you are any better" Toph said frowning "You wan't me to say it here?"
Sokka muted himself and coughed, trying to drink his alcohol "Say it, I don't care"
Say what? About what? I looked at all the people trying to look for an answer. I hope she doesn't mean about…
"Why did you take so much time in the backroom with certain lady?" Toph asked as Sokka looked confused too
"What backroom?" Sokka asked as the table focused on them, I saw Ty lee grabbing the glass a bit tight, might have to do with us being there.
"At the bachelors party" Toph said grinning "You really want me to say what I saw?"
"what did you saw?" I asked almost as a treat, coughing to make my voice soother "You are the only one talking, mind using a topic where we can all talk?"
Toph's evil smile appeared
She couldn't have happened to see what we did in the bathroom… I really hope so.
"Don't worry, a third part of the table was in that backroom too" Toph said as Electra looked suspiciously at Sokka, who was focused brainstorming.
My mind went immediately at what he told me at the wedding reception. A threesome with him and Zuko. Kyoshi, I feel so dirty even thinking it. Zuko suspicious eye is not helping at all.
"NO" Sokka said almost in a scream "Say it and I'll cut you" he made a threat with his glass on hand, making me pull it down for the sake of not being thrown out.
"Let him Suki, is not the first time he is an angry DRUNK" Toph said already tired of being picked on.
"Shut up" Sokka said changing the glass at his free hand "Shut. Up."
"I'm just saying, keep picking on me and the box will crack open" Toph said with a devious smile. I let go of his arm and eye the waitress for a drink.
All of this is still making me nervous and a drink might soften my guard.
"Isn't it a bit early?" Zuko whispered to me, I shushed him with a hand on his knee. I could feel Sokka ignoring us, or trying his best.
"Not with all of this" I reply waiting for the drink to be delivered. The table sat in silence, unsure on what topic we could talk about.
Ty Lee spoke "Congratulations on being the new firelady, Suki"
My eyes widened a bit, feeling hurt too. Not sure why, it's official, everyone on this table is already on the news.
"Really?" I heard Sokka whisper under his breath, focusing on me with a smile that didn't match his eyes.
I unintentionally squeezed Zuko's knee, making him talk and take me out of the trance his eyes would make me travel.
It's almost as if he wasn't the same man I talked to the night before, who held me with such love and caution, as if I would disappear. I couldn't help and remember the feelings he woke in me the first time I was so angry at a foreigner mocking us.
Then how I admired him
Then how I love him
Loved, suki. Loved.
Or love
You love Zuko too, it doesn't have to be the same as Sokka, it's love. that's good too.
"What are you drinking?" I asked him, wanting to talk again. He slid the glass on the table to me, not wanting to answer. I grabbed it and drank as Zuko kept talking about why it was out of place of Ty lee to assume and why we went out yesterday.
It's not fair to leave him doing all the work, but I have not keep track of what we are talking about.
"They are fighting" Sokka says leaning into his glass "About why you decided to do it yesterday" He tells me facing Electra, I'm sure she is bringing some kind of comfort to him but…I can't keep showing I still have feelings.
"It was the right time…it felt like it" I add as Ty Lee frowns at me "We are sorry for keeping it a secret but with your friend out it was dangerous"
"Mai? Are you scared of knives since when?" Toph mocks me, also a bit angry it seems. I want to knock her head, I didn't expect full support but also not this.
"Let's just be happy for them guys…" Electra said trying to defuse the situation, for once I have to agree with her.
"Of course you would say that" Ty Lee snapped turning towards her "Of all the people"
"Stop it" I intervened "Don't lash out on her"
"Why? You are the only one that can act like a…a…" I think I know the word you are looking for Ty…
"I am warming you Ty Lee"
I turned to him where I could see how furious he looked at where the conversation was headed, Ty Lee looked at us with deception and anger.
"Grow up and stop wasting all of our time" Ty Lee said standing up and leaving, I wanted to run after her but bumped at Sokka. He quickly began to move and something stopped me
"Let her vent it out, it's no good running after her" He told me as I sat down. I thought Sokka would sit by my side but he changed his place by Electra. I thought they had already ended things.
The food was served and I wasn't hungry anymore.
"Well this is awkward" Toph said as she ate "I hate to third wheel, let alone, fifth wheel"
I sighed, not wanting to make it more awkward. It seemed they all got along pretty well before I arrived.
I needed an excuse
"I have to finish something at the office, call me if you want to visit any other place at the city" I said standing up to leave, burning inside. Electra reached for me and sat me down, I frowned. "What?"
She didn't say anything, just pierced me with her eyes, turning around to eat her food.
Again with this fucking food. It would look obvious I was sad at them being together, but there was this feeling of nausea inside me that did not let me eat anything at all. I need to force myself through the motions.
I grabbed the fork and forcefully bit the meat while sipping water, oh no it's not water. I ate looking down ignoring the chat Electra and Toph had. They were the only ones actually enjoying themselves.
I refuse to acknowledge them in front of me, being by Suki's side was hard enough to not beg her to talk again but it was painfully obvious, even to me, that I'm looking like an ass. I look up at them.
My face must not have been a very welcoming one as Zuko glared at me, his ugly scar helped him look intimidating. I would definitely fight again for her, I don't think he is in shape anymore.
Lazy bum
I feel the muscles in my face relax as I sipped my drink and gave attention to Suki…
Tui and La this woman will always keep moving things inside of me, I can't even hide it.
"I really need to go" I said not stopping my eyes from framing this exact moment. Her beauty, her slightly upset face about who knows what. I need to stop thinking about her and this drink is not helping me at all.
Electra tried to stop me and I dodged her hand
"Really Sokka?" I heard her say as I walked outside. Right, the money. I returned with a couple of coins, this must be enough to cover for my drinks and dish, even a bit more.
"That's not the point, we didn't leave any work" Can't you just shup the….turp up?!
The new couple kept studying me, more feelings of wanting to puke returned. I walked away without saying anything.
I can't say anything without me wanting to strangle Zuko for making her promise something like that, maybe shake Suki too for actually promising it to him.
I must look like a sore loser but I could care less, walking towards the bay where I felt the most secure. My secret sanctuary
I touched the grass, crawling to feel something that wasn't hatred and pain. I wanted to scream, shout everything and just move on with my life, we could part ways and never see each other again.
But I'm supposed to be her friend.
How on earth did Zuko managed to be her friend all this time without burning on the inside? Do I just feel to much or am I really losing my mind?
I screamed angry at the sky, tears finally leaving my face.
The breakfast was an utterly failure, but at least looking at the hall and offices was interesting.
It felt like a new building, whoever designed this, that made it feel familiar yet new. Electra and Toph walked us around where most of the counselors stood, some of them bowing and others fangirling at Zuko.
I giggled, it was fun seeing Zuko's fans trying to flirt with him.
"Onika, long time no seeing" Zuko saluted with a bow as Onika followed
"I'm glad to have contact again, hearing you at least" She said "Talking with the sages is tiresome"
"Tell me about it" Zuko joked and they laughed as old pals, her hand travelling dangerously close to his. I stood there analyzing everything and yet, my heart didn't jumped at the thought of him turning his back on me.
I wonder if it's because I fully trust him or I don't care enough for me to feel jealous.
I did regret breaking up with Sokka and it was just day two. The other months will be easier, the more workload I had the more…
I'm no longer the leader.
Oh kyoshi.
"Want to see my office?" Electra told me as I snapped out of my thoughts "It's right across this hall"
I nodded and walked along her, I have unfinished business with her. A small, constant piercing feeling that could be related to hate. She was telling me something but I was not paying attention, she opened the door with her key and I noticed that the offices had locks.
"Cute key" I said as she looked down on it, she handed it to me.
There is no coincidence, she is really naïve or she has a plan. No way she can have this much trust on her ex's ex. I close the door and lock it, now she turned panicked at me.
"Why did you lock it?" She asks me backing away. I grin. She lacks malice it seems. "Suki, answer me"
"Do I have to?" I said putting the key on my pants, she looks terrified. I just want to scare her a bit.
"I will scream if you don't and guards will rush in here" She said leaning at her desk, her hands searching for her drawer. Wrong move
I ran at her quickly, putting a hand on her mouth to muffle her scream and the other stopping the search for the dagger. So princess like it makes me nauseous.
"I'm here to talk about why you tortured those people from the north" I demand leaving pressure from her face, just enough for her to answer me.
"What?" She asks surprised. I put more pressure and her eyes panic, I let her breath a bit. "The papers are on the shelf on the right"
"I don't want papers, I want you to tell me. What made you so brave to torture people snow princess?" I mock, rejoicing a bit on the fear her eyes show. I must look really phsychotic.
"You need to let me breath to talk" Electra said, posing her hands on my waist. She knows I wouldn't hurt her, or I hope so.
"You will scream" I say pinning her down on the table, it was as uncomfortable to me as to her.
"What do you want to know" She demanded, in her position? Funny.
"What was the need to do it like that? Don't you have any heart?" I ask angered
"They aren't even from your tribe.." I cut her putting pressure on her head, she was trying to kill me with her eyes but it wasn't working, as the fear overpowered her.
"They are people" I defended "What stops me from going at you for charges in torture and excess of force?"
"What stops me from pulling the same stunt to you?" She barks at me, I roll my eyes. She scrambles on the desk and I put my body weight on her, she pushes something and tries to roll up to see me.
Not a chance
"I want to know Electra. It wasn't fair for them, you ruined them" I said feeling the need to make justice at my own hand. My fan dangerously close to marking her eyes.
"You want to know how many deaths were under their wing? They were atrocious!" Electra almost screamed making Suki tie her and use her hands to shush her.
"They are people" Ouch!
"Like the ones they killed" Electra defended, biting me. Now I really want to make her a nice scar.
The keyhole started opening and I turned around to hide somewhere. I ran towards the desk and the door opened.
"What the hell happened?!" Oh
Oh crap
Oh crap what have I been doing?
Sokka quickly ran to unfast the knots and recognized the pattern: Kyoshi warrior. It was the same one Suki had thought her.
Suki opted to get out of the room with stealth, she felt she could be close until she heard the door be locked again.
"Get out before I out you" Electra spoke, already sitting on the chair. Suki sighed in shame, her eardrums hurting with a loud beep that would make her the villain
"So be it. I am already with the bad guy according to the world" She thought standing up from the desk
Sokka looked shocked to see her there.
"Suki?" He spoke softly "Why?"
"I wanted to interrogate her about the torture" Suki replied clenching her fist, the proudness in her yearning to leave after seeing his sad face.
"Of the prisoners? Is she referring to that?" Sokka asked Electra who nodded, almost yawning. Suki played with her hands behind her back, waiting for her sentence to be dictated.
"I won't press charges against you, don't worry" Electra said annoyed "Let's hope you don't pull this stunt twice or else it will happen"
"You won't see me again here, don't worry" Suki replied immediately, biting her lip as she gazed at Sokka who looked disappointed.
"You could have asked me why she did that" Sokka said keeping his best distance.
"You didn't do it, I still haven't got an answer" Suki replied looking at Electra to avoid confronting the bad decision she made.
"You are so lucky you are pretty" Electra said angered, the backhanded compliment taking Suki off guard "They killed an entire family of no benders. I am a no bender, Sokka is a no bender. I wanted to push the benders to a fear so they would stop attacking no benders. One of them had no arms and still managed to kill them. The other two can learn with time how to bend without their limbs"
Suki's rage died at the moment she put herself in Electra's shoes. Zuko had already told her
"Not all the people are amazing fighters like you"
Suki sat on the other chair, trying to avoid Sokka's beautiful eyes.
"I am sorry for doing this" Suki said with a lot of willpower, as she didn't want to admit she was in the wrong "Something…"
"The darkness" Electra added
"took control of my rage and body. It's not an excuse, so…sorry" She finished, wanting to leave the room. She could have and will do.
Standing up she walked past them and Sokka grabbed her arm, putting an abrupt stop to her walking.
She was about to attack her but was countered as his other hand grabbed her. His eyes still held a glimpse of hope and were full in adoration towards her. Suki was close to just closing her eyes and letting herself be the worst person in the world, a cheater.
"Sorry" He said letting go off her "Don't do it again"
Suki's heartbeat died a bit ,his eyes screaming at her to not go out of the room.
She still did it..
