Chapter Thirty-Seven
Few days since Amity and Luz started dating. Few days since Danielle finally merged with the other her. Processing the memories had ground to a halt when Danielle and Luz came down with the cold. Amity, Willow and Gus had come over to help with getting their friends better. Apparently, Danielle could stomach more stuff from the Demon Realm as of lately.
"Hooty, what's your status?" asked Amity, walking down the hallway with a clipboard.
"The perimeter's secured," replied Hooty, breaking through a window. "Nothing's getting past me."
"Good," said Amity, walking away. "Clean up that mess."
"Ma'am," said Hooty, wiping the glass away with his body.
"Willow, have you gathered the supplies?" asked Amity, entering the kitchen.
"Yes, we are ready to attack this on all fronts," replied Willow, saluting after placing bags down. "And I found some cookbooks from the Human Realm. This mine stone soup sounds good."
"Excellent," said Amity, giving a thumbs up before petting her Palisman Ghost. "Aw, Ghost. Did you help too? Who's a good palisman? Great, now all we need is…"
"Rain? Beach waves?" said Gus, walking over with his arms full of music cds.
"Something called "lo-fi beats to study and relax to"?" said King, holding a speaker. "We've got it all."
"Eda was rummaging through her basement, and gave us some soothing human noises," said Gus, looking at Amity.
"That's great. Wait. Eda's still here?" said Amity, before leaving the kitchen and seeing Danielle come down the stairs. "Danielle, you should be resting… in your room… with Luz."
"I am fine," said Danielle, staring at Amity. "Just cause I look a little pale means… Amity, let go."
"No," said Amity, grabbing Danielle with abomination goo before spotting Eda in the living room. "Eda, you're supposed to be helping Hooty build our defenses. Huh?"
"Ah, don't mind me. I'm just learning how to turn into Harpy Eda on command," replied Eda, looking at Amity while pointing at some VHSs on the coffee table. "According to these human workouts, you just gotta scream a lot until you force your inner beast out."
"Achoo!" sneezed Danielle, blasting the abomination goo off her and around the living room, stardust lingering in the air. "Sorry."
"This looks ancient," said Amity, picking up a VHS box.
"Series started in 1986 in Japan, so my dad grew up watching it whenever Grampa wasn't around," said Danielle, looking at the VHS box.
"What? No. It's only…" said Ed, grabbing the VHS box. "30 years old? I remember seeing this in theaters."
"Yes, you're old. Who cares?" said Amity, looking at Eda. "We have a crisis on our hands."
"Luz being sick is not a crisis," said Danielle, sitting down. "You're blowing this out of proportions."
"You're sick too, you know," said Amity, looking at Danielle.
"No, I'm not," said Danielle, before sneezing again. "See, not sick. Just the sniffles is all."
"Chill, bossy boots. Everything's fine," said Eda, before trying to remember something. "Though I feel like Aster said something regarding Danielle on her run."
"Does this seem fine to you?" asked Amity, walking upstairs and pointing towards Luz in the bedroom.
"Whoa," said Luz, with socks on her hands. "It's like I have snakes for arms."
"Looks like I'm not the only one to act weird when sick," thought Danielle, staring into the room.
"Please, they just have the Common Mold," said Eda, calmly. "It's harmless."
"But they're human and half human," said Amity, staring at Eda. "We have no idea how it'll affect them!"
"I'm not sick, ya know," said Danielle, staring at Eda and Amity.
"If I ate the portal key, would I return to the Human Realm?" asked Luz, about to eat the Portal Key.
"Aah! No!" shouted Danielle, grabbing the Portal Key. "Bad Luzy."
"I am not giving this back until you two are better, okay?" said Amity, grabbing the Portal Key from Danielle.
"Whining won't help," said Danielle, watching Luz play around with a Tamagotchi.
"Oh, uh..." said Amity, taking out her own Tamagotchi and not understanding the little text. "You got it!"
"Turn it sideways," said Danielle, walking out of the room.
"Oh," said Amity, doing as told and understanding the text. "Thanks Luz. You're pretty too."
"Got to admit, Amity, seeing you around more often is different," said Willow, standing in the hallway and Amity closed the bedroom door.
"I know. But I was taught to see every situation as an opportunity," said Amity, before pushing Danielle back into the room. "And today, I'll show Luz that I am an awesome girlfriend. And an awesome friend to Danielle."
"Will you stop?" said Danielle, opening the bedroom door. "I'm fine. Also, the echo mouse brought up a diary entry."
"M-Mouse. Uh. Philip diary entry," said Luz, grabbing her notebook alongside Danielle.
"After five years, I have finally found it. A power source so potent it can pierce through realms. Titan's Blood. There are old tales of lakes reflecting green trees and blue skies. The Titan's vein runs through the land," said the Diary entry, the images displaying various points. "And many believe that these wild portals are created when a little of its blood leaks into the water. That is how I came here. So that is the first place I shall look. I will journey back to Eclipse Lake."
"I have to go to Eclipse Lake!" said Luz, jumping over Danielle and Amity only for Eda to grab her.
"Luz, no," said Willow, pushing Luz back into the room. "You are not well. Same thing with you."
"They are shockingly strong!" said Gus, helping everyone.
Turns out, everyone tied Luz up in her sleeping bag. Luz angrily stares at everyone before noticing Danielle trying to get out of the room. Willow binds Danielle with vines before she got out. Grabbing the futon, everyone binds Danielle in it, which results in Danielle angrily looking at everyone.
"Aaw, come on," said Danielle, struggling to get free. "I'm not sick!"
"All right, Luz, Danielle," said Eda, staring at the girls. "Me and King will get your Titan blood if you two just calm down."
"Yes!" said King, jumping onto Eda's shoulders. "Perfect chance to take our new powers for a test drive."
"You guys are the best," said Luz, handing the drawing over to Eda.
"Don't leave me here," said Danielle, still struggling. "Take me with you. I can help."
"I volunteer as well," said Amity, following Eda. "As Luz's girlfriend and Danielle's friend, I must…"
"I get it, boots. Just grab a coat," said Eda, before looking at Willow and Gus. "Willow, Goops, watch over Luz and Danielle. She thinks she has snakes for arms. And I wouldn't be surprised if Danielle goes kitty."
"Mmmm," said Danielle, grumbling as she struggled to get loose.
As Eda, King and Amity prepared to leave, they didn't know they were being followed. Turns out right at the last second, Danielle was able to get free of her binds. Grabbing her winter gear, Danielle followed suit but had to use Wind Glyphs after a certain point. Staying further back as to not be seen, though was spotted by the Golden Guard.
"Argh! Hmph!" said the Golden Guard, falling down and losing his mask, seeing Danielle in front of him. "Great, the Half Breed as well."
"Danielle!" said Eda, Amity and King, staring at Danielle.
"What," said Danielle, looking at everyone. "Really think binding me in our room would have worked. It didn't and now I can help."
"Too late to send you back," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "But I'll be watching you."
"Hehe," giggled Danielle, before looking at the Golden Guard. "Two choices here, we keep calling you the Golden Guard or we call you by your actual name. Which will it be?"
"Hunter," replied the Golden Guard, looking to the side.
"The Golden Guard?" said Amity, gasping. "He is a lot scrawnier than I imagined."
"At least he doesn't have a bodybuilder physique," said Danielle, hearing King laugh. "I can never understand why anyone would want a body like that."
"You are resting when this is over," said Eda, pointing at Danielle. "So don't even think of trying to escape."
"Yes Eda," said Danielle, beginning to walk. "Let's get going."
"Whoa, slowdown," said Eda, looking at Danielle. "The Titan's Blood isn't going anywhere."
"You need to slow down," said King, climbing onto Danielle's shoulder.
"Someone's impatient," said Hunter, looking at Danielle.
"Quite Hunty," said Danielle, still walking.
"Hunty," said Hunter, confused. "Wait, do you… I don't like you like that."
"Where'd you get that I like you?" asked Danielle, staring at Hunter as she walks backwards.
"You called me Hunty," replied Hunter, looking at Danielle.
"Forget I said that," said Danielle, slightly blushing before sneezing. "Great, this dust thing is starting up again, I thought I got over it years ago."
"Think this is normal for the other race Danielle is?" asked Amity, whispering to Eda and King.
"Probably," replied Eda, before coming upon a wall of ice. "Ah, here's a good place. Hooooot!"
"Heke?" said Danielle, walking into the cave after Eda created a hole.
"Did I do it?" asked Eda, as she landed in the cave. "Did I go into harpy mode?"
"Tengu," said Danielle, correcting Eda as she walked in alongside Amity and a bound Hunter.
"No," replied King, walking into the cave. "You just screamed "hoot" and ran headfirst into a wall of ice. Pretty funny actually."
"You can put down your staff," said Hunter, as Amity pointed her staff at him. "I won't run."
"Too bad, because I don't trust you," said Amity, glaring at Hunter.
"Huh, this stuff is old," said Eda, seeing old mining equipment.
"Ancient witches used to mine the veins for Titan blood…" said Hunter, only to be ignored by Eda and King.
"They're not paying attention," said Amity, watching Eda and King.
"King, please get off the drill before you hurt yourself," said Danielle, looking at King.
"Go on, fire it," said Eda, looking at King. "Maybe the adrenaline will kick in, and bam, Harpy Eda."
"Don't," said Danielle, looking at Eda and King. "I'd rather not inform Kikimora and the scouts outside that we're here. Achoo!"
"Agreed," said Amity and Hunter, looking at Eda and King before King set off the drill.
"King! Eda!" said Danielle, before groaning and leaning on Amity.
"Not feeling so well right now, now are you," said Amity, looking at Danielle before hearing a purr from her. "And Kittielle is waking up."
"This isn't a normal cave!" said Hunter, staring at Eda and King. "These walls are made from the veins of the Titan. Any magic you shoot will bounce right back at you!"
"Aw, Kingy's fur went all foofy," said Danielle, staring at King. "Nya…"
"Huh, you must be fun at parties," said Eda, before looking at King. "Hey, King, how about you use your new powers to echolocate the lake?"
"Haha, okay! Weh!" said King, sending his new voice power down the cave and hearing nothing. "Eh-eh."
"Those two are definitely gonna get us caught," said Hunter, with a deadpan expression.
""Us"? There is no us," said Amity, glaring at Hunter. "Now keep walking."
Walking further into the cave in silence… or whatever little silence they got whenever Danielle wasn't purring. Danielle eyed the Red Cardinal Palisman flying about and tried to hold herself back from chasing and playing around with it. After a little bit, everyone sees Kikimora with some Coven Scouts.
"Oh, that poor girl is going through something," said Eda, watching the scene in pity before Danielle bit her ear and purred. "Stop nibbling on my ear."
"She's also blocking the path to Eclipse Lake," said Amity, pulling Danielle off Eda.
"We should create a distraction," said Hunter, quietly.
"We should create a distraction!" said Eda, loudly while running off with King. "You kids wait for my signal."
"Enya," said Danielle, following after Eda and King.
"Okay, watch this. I'll be the ghost of miner's past and spook'em out!" said Eda, before Danielle started yanking her hair. "Ow ow ow! Danielle, stop."
"You look like one of my hairballs," said King, making Danielle spit Eda's hair out. "Let's just do the trench coat thing."
"Enya…" said Danielle, before hissing as a magenta fireball flew their way.
"Why didn't you wait for our signal?" asked Eda, running after Amity and Hunter with Danielle and King.
"We don't have time to play around," said Amity, as her Tamagotchi fell out of her pocket. "We are getting that Titan blood."
"Nyaa," said Danielle, running back a bit and grabbing the Tamagotchi and handing it back to Amity.
"Uh… thank you," said Amity, wiping a little saliva off.
After having running for a bit, everyone sees the chamber they're in filled with Fool's Blood. Although no one besides Hunter knew that. Every once in a while, the Red Cardinal Palisman would try and perch in Hunter's hair.
"Hey," said Hunter, shrugging the red cardinal palisman off his shoulder. "Find a different perch, bird."
"Is this Titan's Blood?" asked Eda, looking at the dark blue blobs before looking at Danielle. "Danielle, leave the palisman alone.
"Nya," said Danielle, eyeing the palisman before looking at Eda. "Enya."
"But Eclipse Lake is farther ahead," said Amity, looking at the map.
"Who cares?" said King, about to touch the dark blue blobs. "We did it!"
"Stop! That's Fool's Blood," said Hunter, looking at Eda and King. "Don't touch it."
"Oh, so you can keep it all…" said Eda, before a memory flashed.
"We're in a decayed vein which means there is probably very little Titan's Blood left."
"King, don't!" said Eda, as King claws at a vein.
"Nyaaaaaaaaaa!" screamed Danielle, as the ground cracked open and she, Eda and King fell.
"No!" shouted Amity, about to mount her staff.
"Yeah, Kittielle is fully out," said Eda, clinging to her staff while rubbing the cat ears on Danielle's head.
"Pfft," said King, swiping Danielle's cat tail away from his face.
"Nyaaa!" said Danielle, elongating her claws somewhat and running up the side of the chasm. "Nyaaa!"
"Danielle?" said Amity, as she flew down.
"Amity, go after her," shouted Eda, looking up at Amity. "We'll catch up."
"Okay," said Amity, flying back up.
Glancing around once at the top, Danielle looks around before sniffing the air. Staring towards some mine tracks, Danielle runs down the tunnel. Amity follows not so long later. Coming upon an open cavern, Danielle stalks closer, seeing Hunter digging in the center of a dried-up lakebed.
"Don't worry. I won't pick a fight. There's no…" said Hunter, as Danielle pounced on him. "Oh, my Titan!"
"Yeah, Danielle has the common mold," said Amity, walking forth.
"The common mold? Then what's with the…" said Hunter, as Danielle bit his hand. "Aah! She bit me! I'm not gonna turn into a cat, am I?"
"Pfft, no," replied Amity, getting Danielle off Hunter. "Why were you digging?"
"Oh, it's simple really. Belos needs Titan blood to make a new portal key," replied Hunter, slightly unhinged. "Can't get to the Human Realm without it!"
"There's blood in the key?" said Amity, gripping the Portal Key under her coat.
"Anya," said Danielle, staring at Amity.
"Since I failed my last mission, I thought, "Hey, a chance to make up for it!" But I can't go back empty-handed!" said Hunter, laughing hysterically. "Not again. Long story short, this is my grave. Want me to make you one too?"
"This is really bumming me out," said King, staring at Hunter.
"That's just life, rat," said Hunter, before Danielle hissed at him. "Okay okay."
"Kinya," said Danielle, hugging King.
"Why do I have a feeling this will last longer?" thought King, as Danielle nuzzled him.
"Everyone has a use, and if you don't..." said Hunter, blowing a raspberry. "Bye-bye. Your friend gets it."
"What's he talking about?" asked King, looking at Amity.
"Luz has been sending me these strange human codes," said Amity, showing her Tamagotchi. "Which if Danielle didn't show me earlier what I was doing wrong, I'd had misinterpreted it."
"Oh," said King, looking at Amity.
"Hey!" said Hunter, swatting the Red Cardinal Palisman away. "Go find a better witch to be with."
"You know, you were right. We do have a lot in common. I grew up thinking everything was an opportunity to justify existing, but there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless. You just have to let yourself meet them," said Amity, staring at Hunter before he notices the Portal Key. "What are you... oh, come on. Being nice usually works for Luz."
"Weh!" shouted King, sending his shock waves at Hunter.
"Danielle, sic him," said Amity, as Danielle hissed.
Running forward, Danielle grabs Hunter's staff before it goes back to being the Red Cardinal Palisman. Flying away, the Red Cardinal Palisman dodges Danielle at every turn before returning to Hunter. Glaring, Danielle hisses before attacking Hunter. Slashing, kicking and tail swiping at Hunter at every point before Danielle climbs up the bed of the dried-up lake and jumping off, and pinning Hunter to the ground. Danielle angrily hisses as she bites Hunter's hand once again.
"Aah! Let go! Let go!" said Hunter, feeling a little funny.
"She's not turning…" said Amity, only to see cat ears and a tail matching Hunter's ash blond hair to form on him. "Oh, my Titan! Danielle can…"
"Meow!" screamed Hunter, getting free and grabbing the Portal Key.
"If you can turn people, can't you control them," said Amity, staring at Danielle as Hunter ran down the tunnel.
"Maybe Danielle hasn't reached that point," said King, looking at Amity. "Or she didn't bite long enough. Anyway…"
"Ha-ha. Yes. I heard fighting. I'm ready to go. Where's that nerd?" asked Eda, flying into the chamber before Danielle pounced on her. "Oh. Dang it. Aah! And Kitttielle is fully out."
"Didn't you see…" said Amity, looking at Eda.
"See what?" asked Eda, pushing Danielle off slightly.
"Hmmm… harpy cat Eda," said King, staring at Eda. "Yeah, Danielle can make others into cats just by biting them."
"Aaah," said Eda, before standing up. "Okay, we need to get a muzzle."
"Should we really leave her in the same room as Luz?" asked King, looking at Eda.
"… …" said Eda, blanching on the thought of two catified humans. "Yeah, we'll put Danielle in the room where Lilith bunked for a while. Let's get going."
Mounting their staffs, Amity had to muzzle Danielle with some abomination goo. Danielle opposed it as she struggled to get the abomi-muzzle off as they flew through the cave and out. Eda ended up wincing a bit when Danielle's claws gripped her a little too hard before starting to shake off a fuzzy feeling in the back of her mind and body. Though they had to stop at one point since the Owl Beast wanted nine voles. Finally reaching the Owl House, everyone dismounts.
"Ow, ow, ow! Just get an elixir," said Eda, failing to get through the front door. "I got into harpy mode and now I can't get out."
"She also ate, like, nine voles on the way home," said King, staring at Luz, Willow and Gus.
"Hey, I had to keep up my end of the bargain," said Eda, staring at King.
"Oof!" said King, as Danielle pounced onto Eda to get her in.
"Ugh..." said Amity, holding her head.
"Amity!" said Luz, happily hugging Amity. "I'm so glad my awesome girlfriend is okay."
"Me too," said Amity, hugging Luz back than looking at Danielle. "Though I'd stay away from Danielle… unless you want to go kitty."
"Nope," said Luz, popping the p while backing away from Danielle.
"No King hug? What is this?" asked King, pointing at Amity. "You are a swindler and a thief!"
"Come here, buddy," said Luz, grabbing and hugging King.
"I regret this!" said King, as Luz twirled around.
"Do you wanna break the news or should I?" asked Eda, whispering to Amity.
"News?" said Amity, looking at Eda.
"The empty lake, the Golden Guard, losing the portal key," said Eda, counting off than scoffing. "Today was a disaster."
"Actually, we might be okay," said Amity, staring at the Titan Blood on her glove.
"Now what to do with Danielle now," said Eda, watching Danielle get the muzzle off. "Ah, no. That stays on."
"Nya-choo," said Danielle, sneezing.
Unfortunately, this wasn't an ordinary sneeze. Sparkles littered the area where Danielle, Eda, Luz, King and Willow were. Amity, Hooty and Gus wonder what happened and where they went. Turns out, Danielle's sneeze teleported them from one place to the next every time she sneezed over the whole Demon Realm. The last sneeze resulted in everyone landing in a forested village.
"Ugh…where are we?" asked Eda, getting her bearings.
"I don't know," replied Luz, looking around.
"I feel like I've been here before," said Willow, looking around as well.
"Weh," said King, seeing shadows behind them and blacking out as they were bashed upside the head.
Note:
Anya and Kinya are just a play on Amity and King and the Japanese animal onomatopoeia of a cat meow hence Anya and Kinya

"Was that…" said a Teen Human Boy, seeing Danielle sneeze herself and the others away.
"Owl Lady… heard of her…" said a Feline Like Female, staring at the spot. "From isles… meaning…"
"I'm this much closer to getting home," said the Teen Human Boy, excited. "Come on Kitkat. Let's go!"
"Wary of emperor…" said Kitkat, eyeing the distance. "Feel danger…"
Owl Pellet #80
"Aster," said Danielle, holding the half finished plush toy she was making.
"Danielle," said Luz, peering into the room before looking at Eda and King. "Aster being taken away has really put a damper on Danielle."
"Yeah," said Eda and King, peering into the room as well.
"Must have turned on a light for her," said Luz, still staring at Danielle.
Owl Pellet #81
"Hunter!" said Emperor Belos, staring at a catified Hunter.
"Meow," said Hunter, holding the Portal Key in his mouth.
"That blasted…" said Emperor Belos, angry as Aster laughed.
"Aaw man, he's a cat. That is too funny," said Aster, laughing at Hunter. "It will wear off. Just give it some time."
"That half witch will regret this!" thought Emperor Belos, angrily punching the wall.
"Here kitty-kitty. Wanna play?" asked Aster, minimizing himself to a half moon half sun point. "Here. No, here. Can't catch me!"
"Meow… meow… meow…" said Hunter, trying to catch and pouncing towards a laughing Aster, thinking he caught him once and staring under his hand before Aster shot off towards another area. "Mew."
"Nice try," said Aster, staring at the catified Hunter. "But so close."
"Hunter!" shouted Emperor Belos, making Hunter flatten his ears in a scared submissive position. "Room now!"
"Meow," said Hunter, slowly slinking away and towards the doors.
"That was mean," said Aster, before Emperor Belos covered the tablet. "Hey!"
