Part 11
Peter had a plan. It was simple. Get the bracelet. Get the girl. Get the Hellhound.
All was needed to complete the ritual.
The bracelet to connect the earthly realm to Ashley in Hel's realm. The blood from Paige who Ashley had sacrificed for. The Hellhound's presence and power to fuel the ritual and allow Ashley to cross back.
All that together with the spell he had obtained should have been enough to bring her back.
But something must've gone terribly wrong along the way.
He had finally got everything in place and had enacted the spell at the moon's zenith. The Nemeton and the surroundings had lit up in a greenish glow. Then the moon passed and the light disappeared. And nothing happened.
His eyes searched desperately around, hanging on to the last shred of hope and sanity.
Where was she?
After all those years of searching and planning, he finally found a way to bring her back. Why was she not back?
He had planned and worked hard to bring everything together. He said he was there for payback, but this was the real reason why. He was there to bring Ashley back.
But where was she?
Where was his Ashley?
The despair finally caught up to him causing him to fall to his knees. The shock and the hopelessness left him reeling for air. It was as if someone had punched him hard and knocked the air out of him.
All he had gone through was in vain. He couldn't save her. He couldn't bring her back. He had lost her all over again.
Peter felt his heart ripped to pieces. He was inconsolable. Anguish consuming his very being. Grief clouding all thoughts in his mind.
Crushed. Shattered. Defeated.
If this world did not have Ashley, he didn't want to be it in anymore.
He pulled his claws and positioned it over his neck, ready for that final strike that would end his life.
All of a sudden, a blast of wind blew him away.
In the distance, something had exploded.
He fumbled to his knees and headed towards the source of the explosion.
Further into the woods, a crater had been formed and in the middle was a body.
Could it be?
Finding a glimmer of hope, he stumbled towards the body and that's when he saw her face.
Ashley.
The moment he laid eyes on her, he could no longer control the tears pouring from his eyes. He ran to her side and cradled her in his arms. There she was, looking every bit the same as when he last saw her.
He was now sobbing uncontrollably as he rocked her body. Emotions welled up within him. Relief. Joy. And sadness. He knew his time with her would be up soon.
