Sometimes, it helped that everyone thought she was oblivious to the things going on around her. Particularly when it came to the male population. It gave her an opportunity to study the beings and their intent around her without anyone being alerted.

The ability to read people's auras also helped a great deal in this endeavor. It was difficult for anyone to get away with lying to or hiding things from her because she could pick up on subtleties most other beings would miss.

That's how she knew that there was something wrong with Sesshomaru. His normally calm aura was flickering with agitation and discontent. Not only that, but the daiyokai himself was acting… odd ever since their return from her time.

Normally, his expression was taciturn or even bored. But today, his face showed apprehension. He kept glancing at her and quickly looking away, as if he was afraid of getting caught staring.

But that didn't make any sense! First and foremost, the Lord of the West wouldn't be staring at a lowly human to begin with. Secondly, even if he was staring, he would never fear getting caught. If he wanted to look at something, he would. So what was his problem?

It was slightly unnerving, being the focus of the great taiyokais attention, regardless of how little it may or may not be. She wished he would either say something or find something else to focus on.

Thankfully, his attention was taken over by something else. Or rather, someone. Unfortunately, that someone seemed intent on pulling Kagome herself into a conversation with the disconcerting daiyokai.
