I'm back with a new short story. Not a strong plot, just a story I have written for a bit of fun about our favourite duelists being reckless and behaving like over sexed idiots. Mai x Yugi is a rare pairing I find quite interesting, so I thought I might have a bit of fun with it.
Be warned for some adult scenes, swearing and some bad behaviour.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yugioh.
Dirty Dueling.
One Night Stand.
Another hotel room, in yet another city. Yugi dutifully checked in, collected his key card and tried to find his room – fourth floor, turn left, count the door numbers until he found the right door.
Upon entering the luxury suite, he found his luggage had already been brought up. He looked around; the suite was absolutely awesome.
To begin with he had been reluctant about participating in this tour, but Pegasus had been extremely persuasive, and the way the flamboyant business tycoon sold it made it seem like a fantastic idea, especially since the break-down in his relationship with Anzu had left Yugi feeling a bit down in the dumps and restless.
And so he relented and agreed to sign up.
Jonouchi had been pleased. "That's the spirit Yug! Think of the money, the women, the places we'll see! I'll be able to pay off all my dad's debts and put Shizuka through uni!",
Yugi sighed. Being a pro duelist was Jonouchi's dream, not his, but he couldn't let his friend go alone. Besides, his friend was right; they would get to travel the world and have fun – a great thing to do while they were still young and unburdened. And he did secretly like the idea of the money. Not that he was money obsessed, but it would certainly help secure his future as a game designer.
And so the tour began, starting in Pegasus's company base, San Francisco, before moving to its current location in Las Vegas.
The tour itself (conceived by Pegasus), was a collaboration between Industrial Illusions and Kaiba Corp., which utilised Pegasus's theatrical and artistic showmanship, along with Seto Kaiba's technology, and, well, theatrical showmanship.
Theatrical showmanship had never been Yugi's style, but he went along with the outrageous holographic stunts and grand introductions anyway, mostly because he didn't have much choice.
At first he felt self conscious and a bit ridiculous, but after doing a couple of shows he started feeling more comfortable with it, and even had to admit that stepping into the dueling arena amidst all the visual effects and music, and the loud cheering of the crowd, did make him feel pretty awesome. Watching the playbacks was pretty cool, too. He hoped that Anzu might see it and be jealous of the show's success –that was not a kind thought, and he berated himself for having it.
Although the show itself was spectacular, it was often less about the skill of the duelist and more about putting on a show that would excite the audience and leave them feeling stunned and amazed. It left Yugi feeling conflicted: he did not want choreographed duels, or guaranteed victory, he wanted to win fair and square –Atem would be appalled if he knew that Yugi and Kaiba were facing each other with decks pre-shuffled and every play rehearsed.
"We've become more like rock stars than duelists," Yugi complained to Jonouchi over an overpriced beer in the hotel bar that evening.
"What's wrong with that, Yugi?! Embrace it! Right now I'm living my wildest dreams! I got girls throwing themselves at me and money in the bank for the first time in my life! Plus, I get to stay in luxury places like this!"
Of course his friend would love it. "I guess," said Yugi flatly. Jonouchi clamped him on the back.
"Hey! If you ain't happy you can always go home and let me have all the girls and the glory!"
Yugi shot his friend an incredulous look, but then shook his head and laughed when he realised his friend was winding him up. "Definitely not! I'm not letting you have all the fun." Besides, the tour would see them in New York in a few weeks time, and he hoped to smooth things over with Anzu while he was there, and if they could not be lovers they could at least patch up their broken friendship.
"That's the spirit Yug! Now, drink up and we can hit the casino."
Yugi sighed. His grandfather had spent a lot of time in casinos in his younger days, and had taught him some pretty neat skills and tricks of the trade. Yugi wondered if he would have as much success as Grandpa had enjoyed.
He ended the evening five thousand dollars up, but decided to call it a day before they realised who he was and kicked him out –he couldn't help it if he had the Muto Midas touch, could he?
Jonouchi had not had quite as much luck on the tables, but did pull a leggy blonde Texan woman, who told him she was a catwalk model and actress. She reminded Yugi of an actress he had seen in porno film, but he did not tell his friend that.
However, he did try to remind his friend that he would need to be fit to duel in the tournament tomorrow. His friend did not seem to care, and went off to have a wild night.
Sighing, Yugi left him to it. There was only so much advice he could give his friend, and if Jonouchi refused to take it then what more could he do?
After cashing in his chips, Yugi went back to the hotel to get some much needed sleep.
As he walked through the lobby, he bumped into Mai.
"Oh, hey, Yugi. I was just going for a nightcap. Care to join me?" She had ditched her date for the night because he was a brain-dead troglodyte of a bore.
"Um…" Yugi glanced at his watch. It was not even ten yet. "Okay!"
As they made their way into the bar, Yugi said, "I thought you had a date with that baseball player who looks like the Incredible Hulk?"
Mai guffawed at the reference. "Incredible Hulk?" It wasn't an entirely inaccurate comparison.
Yugi grinned. "That's what Jonouchi called him."
Mai rolled her eyes. "He's just jealous." At the mention of Jonouchi, she could not help thinking about her on/off boyfriend for a moment. "Where is he? I thought he went to the casino with you?"
"He did. But then he went off with a Texan catwalk model."
Mai pretended not to be jealous at the mention of Jonouchi and a model, but supposed it was her fault for blowing him out in favour of Mister Incredible (troglodyte) Hulk.
They perched themselves on two stools at the bar, and Mai asked, "So, how did it go at the casino? I presume you won?" She would be surprised if he hadn't.
Nodding, he grinned. "Five thousand dollars. I quit before they worked out I was a Muto."
"In that case, you won't mind if I order a bottle of champagne," Mai said cheekily, signalling to the barman she wanted to order. Yugi chuckled.
"Order what you like, I don't mind," he said blandly.
Mai did just that, and ordered a three hundred and fifty dollar bottle of sparkling Californian wine (which probably cost $50 in the supermarket). It was not the most expensive she could have ordered though.
Yugi gave his room number for the tab, and the barman told them that the waiter would bring their sparkling wine out to them. Thanking him, they went over and sat down on two comfy chairs at a small table.
"So, I guess everyone's out with a hot date, bar you and me," Mai said suddenly. Yugi laughed.
"I suppose so. I hope they're fit to duel tomorrow." Pegasus was holding a tournament at his hotel this weekend. It was an annual event, and, ever the businessman, he had timed the tour to coincide with his tournament, to ensure that Yugi, Mai and Jonouchi would all compete. Kaiba was sitting this one out (said it was beneath him) in favour of hosting, but he would be dueling the winner of the tournament, whom he expected to be Yugi. It would be a proper duel, not the choreographed shit they had been participating in the last few weeks.
"Have you decided on your deck?" asked Mai.
"Yep! And, no, I'm not telling."
"I'll beat you anyway," she said, winking at him.
He chuckled. "You know you're no match for me."
"Maybe not in a duel," she teased, making him blush. He wondered what she meant by that.
Luckily the waiter arrived with their wine, saving him from having to ask.
The waiter showed them the bottle. None the wiser, since he knew nothing about fizzy wine, Yugi nodded. "That's fine. Thank, you." He watched, as the waiter popped the cork and poured some into two dainty champagne flutes, and once they confirmed it was to their taste, left them in peace.
Yugi sipped his wine. Despite his lack of knowledge he thought it tasted okay – it should do at that price!
To keep the conversation going, Mai asked, "How are you enjoying the tour, Yugi?" Her question earned a shrug.
"It's okay, I suppose. The theatrics are a bit much at times, but I'm getting used to them."
"I'd say you were a natural!" she teased.
Yugi was surprised. "You think so?! I'm not good at showing-off. And, unlike Kaiba, I don't feel comfortable jumping out of a helicopter wearing a jetpack. I prefer to just concentrate on the duel."
Mai laughed. "Same here. But the fans love it, and we're getting paid well, so I'm not complaining." She raised her glass. "Cheers!"
Smiling, Yugi raised his own glass. "To not having to jump from a great height wearing a jetpack tomorrow."
"Yep! I'll drink to that!" She took a sip of her drink, and then placed her glass back down.
"I wonder who we'll get in the first round?" she wondered out loud.
Yugi did not really care who he got to play, but was well aware that the early rounds could sometimes be banana skins for the top players, especially where the rogue decks of unknown players were concerned. "Just be careful," he told her. "There's a few people I've never heard of competing tomorrow."
"Don't worry, they won't get past my Harpy combo that easily," she said with certainty.
Yugi smirked. "I wouldn't be too confident. If I know your Harpies weaknesses, then I'm sure others will figure it out."
"Apart from handsome duelists with spiky hair, what are my weaknesses, Mister Game King?" It was flirty, and Yugi noticed her face was already a little flushed from the wine, plus whatever else she had drunk before he bumped into her – she did seem a bit tipsy.
Yugi felt his own face heating up. Trying not to become tongue tied and embarrassed, he attempted to flirt back. "If I told you your weaknesses, you might stop me exploiting them."
Mai raised an amused eyebrow. "Maybe I want you to exploit them," she said, finishing her glass.
Ignoring the flirty remark, Yugi topped up their glasses.
"I looked at the draw earlier," said Mai. "I've got Katsuya in the semis and you in the final."
Yugi raised an eyebrow at her bold assumption that she would beat Jonouchi and fight him in the final. "We may not even get that far," he told her.
"Are you kidding?!" she retorted incredulously. "You're the odds on favourite, to both win the tournament and to beat Kaiba."
Yugi laughed. "People have a lot of faith in me. I guess I'll have to deliver."
Intrigued by his casual tone, she asked, "Do you ever get nervous?" He looked a bit surprised by the question, but nodded.
"Yes. Of course I do. It's natural to be apprehensive, but I have faith in my deck and in my ability as a duelist to not make silly mistakes. If I don't win, it's because the person who beats me is a better player with a better deck."
"True. You are pretty tough when you duel. Ironic, given that you're one of the sweetest, most modest guys on the circuit."
He snorted. "They can trash talk and brag all they like, it doesn't intimidate me. It just shows that they're maybe not as confident as they pretend to be."
Mai smiled. "I certainly agree with that!" There had been many men who had tried to intimidate her, bragging about their physical and sexual prowess in order to get her to concede, both in relationships and on the battlefield. She might have been taken in when she first worked on the cruise ship as a naive eighteen year old, but she quickly learned how to make them feel like the inadequate little boys they were. It occurred to her that Yugi was different from the tall, rugged macho men with high opinions of themselves, that she unwittingly tended to go for. Yugi was not tall, or rugged, yet had a quiet authority that spoke volumes about the talent within. She wondered what he was like in bed.
Flustered at the thought, she drained her glass. "Is there any more in the bottle?"
Oblivious to her dirty thoughts, he picked up the bottle to check. "No. Sorry," and innocently added, "It's probably time for bed anyway."
Although an innocent remark, Mai jumped on the opportunity. "Want some company?" When he gaped at her, she raised a flirty eyebrow and added, "I wouldn't mind seeing the inside of that luxury suite of yours?"
Losing his mask of coolness, he became a little flustered. "M…. Mai! What are you suggesting?"
Mai winked at him. "Lovers at night, enemies by day, what'd you say, kiddo?"
Yugi might be embarrassed, but had gained enough experience recently to not shrink and squirm. He raised an amused eyebrow at her and tried to do his best 'Atem' smirk.
"Oh, come on Yugi. Don't pretend you don't want to," she said seductively.
Yugi would be lying if he did not think Mai was sexy and hot. He was a twenty one year old man with a healthy libido, who had drunk enough alcohol to make him feel horny. But Mai was Jonouchi's on off girlfriend, and he was not sure if it was within his moral compass to have sex with his best friend's woman.
Unfortunately, the words slipped out of his mouth before he had chance to politely decline, "O..okay. You're on!"
"You won't regret it, Hon," she said, trying again to drain one last drop of bubbly from her empty glass.
Whether they did end up regretting it would remain to be seen.
::::::::::::
The elevator was empty when they got inside, and Mai had no qualms about draping herself all over him, which was not difficult given their height difference.
After a quick fumble in the corridor, they reached his room, and he was feeling so worked up that he dropped his key card.
Telling himself to get a grip and be a man (Mai did not like wimps) he swiped the key card, shouldered the door open and gestured for her to enter. The lights came on automatically, and he let the door to swing closed with a heavy thunk.
"Wow! It's big!" she said.
"So I've been told," he replied cheekily.
She looked him up and down seductively, her eyes landing on his groin area. "I'm talking about the room."
"So am I," he said innocently.
Surprisingly for Yugi, when Mai kicked off her high heels and closed the gap between them, she wasn't that much taller than him since his late growth spurt after leaving school had added a few more inches.
He was also in for a surprise in bed!
Given her brash exterior and outspoken opinions on men, he expected her to be a bit of a dominatrix. But she wasn't like that at all, and instead became girly and coy. Always a quick study, he realised almost immediately that this was because she liked her man to be masculine and masterful, and treat her like she was the only woman in his world – which she was, currently. Keen to please, he obliged.
:::::::::::
The next morning, Yugi woke to an empty bed, and assumed that Mai had left once he was asleep. Hardly surprising –she probably regretted last night as much as he was going to when Jonouchi found out what they had done.
However, he was surprised when he spotted her clothing still on the floor and heard her in the bathroom, singing over the sound of the shower.
Sitting up, he rummaged under his pillow for his pyjamas – they were not there. Finding them on the floor, he pulled on just the pyjama shorts and sat on the edge of the bed to stretch out his back and shoulders.
He heard the shower turn off, and a few minutes later, Mai emerged from the bathroom wrapped in one of the hotel dressing gowns, and with her hair wrapped up in a towel.
She smiled when she saw him. "Morning, Stud."
Embarrassed at being called a stud, he peered up at her from underneath his messy bed hair. "Hey, Mai!"
"I hope you don't mind me using your bathroom. I borrowed the complimentary toothbrush as well," she said casually.
"No, that's fine," he replied.
She came over and sat on the bed beside him and leaned in to kiss his lightly stubbled cheek. "I hope you're not gonna go all weird on me about last night, Yugi?"
Shaking his head, he babbled, "N..No! Of.. of course not!"
"Good. It was fun," she said, nudging him playfully, and adding, "Not many men have made me orgasm like that!"
Yugi nearly spat his tonsils out. "R.. Really?!" He had done his best, but didn't think he was that good.
She giggled. "Yes. Really." She nudged him again. "You certainly know what a woman likes!" she winked. "Who taught you?"
"Mai!" Embarrassed, Yugi hid his his face in his hands. "No one taught me! I mostly learned what to do with Anzu."
As cute as he was when he was embarrassed, Mai still felt mean for pushing his buttons. She pulled his hands away from his face and kissed him, despite his morning breath.
Pulling away, she felt a warm glow of happiness that the innocent, weedy little boy she first met en-route to Duelist Kingdom, was now such an amazing man. Anzu was a fool to have let him go.
As an outspoken woman, she usually would have voiced that, but did not want to spoil the moment by reminding him of the woman she knew he still held feelings for.
Instead, she said, "I should probably go, before anyone finds out." If Kaiba or Pegasus were to do the rounds, banging on doors to make sure they were all up, it could be awkward. She got up to retrieve her clothes.
Yugi got up to go to the bathroom, partly to relieve the urgent need of his bladder, and partly to give her privacy while she dressed.
He brushed his teeth, which he hoped gave her enough time to finish dressing, before coming back out of the bathroom. She was doing her hair, and paused to look at him.
"As much as I would like to enjoy another night like the one we just had, it should probably be a one off," she told him. Yugi had to agree.
"I hope we don't end up regretting it," he said seriously.
She winked at him via her reflection in the mirror. "Our guilty secret, eh, Kiddo?"
Offended, he scowled. "After last night, I think you should stop calling me Kiddo."
"Okay, Stud!" she teased with a grin, leaving Yugi almost pulling at his hair.
Mai put the hairdryer down and made to leave, but stopped to steal a kiss on the way out.
Pausing at the door to put on her shoes, she turned to him, "Remember, as from this moment we're rivals again." And with that she was gone.
::::::::::::
Arriving at the venue for the tournament, Yugi spotted Mai. He was tempted to go over and talk to her, but had no idea what to say to her. He looked around for Jonouchi, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Ah! Yugi Boy!" He cringed at the sound of Pegasus's nickname for him and turned around.
"You haven't seen Jonouchi, have you?" he asked.
"That's what I wanted to ask you! He's dueling in around fifteen minutes," the flamboyant CEO said.
"Oh…" Worried, Yugi pulled out his phone and tried to call his friend's number, but it went straight to voice mail. He left a message. "Have I got time to go up and check if he's in his room?" After last night, he may have over slept.
"If you're quick. I can only delay his match for so long. If he doesn't show up in say…. twenty, I'll have to default him."
Seto Kaiba entered the conversation. "I say we disqualify the idiot already. All duelists are supposed to sign on thirty minutes before their first match," he reminded them pointedly.
"That's not fair!" Yugi retorted, "Something might have happened to him!" He felt in some way responsible, for letting his friend go off with a woman he had only just met.
"Like, what? He hasn't been misbehaving, has he?" said Pegasus, tut tutting.
Yugi tried not to cringe.
"Judging by the look on your face, I would say he has," said Seto. "I'll announce him as disqualified and advance his opponent into the next round."
"Now, just a moment, Kaiba Boy!" Yugi tried not to snicker at the condescending tone used by Pegasus and the perturbed look on Seto Kaiba's face. "This is my tournament, and I make the rules." Pegasus turned to Yugi. "You have fifteen minutes to find him and bring him here, Yugi Boy. After that I will have no choice but to disqualify him."
Nodding his understanding, Yugi raced out of the ballroom and into the hotel lobby, just in time to see Jonouchi entering the hotel looking dishevelled and worse for wear. Yugi ran over to him.
"Jonouchi! What happened to you?!" His friend glared at him.
"Don't ask! Bitch drugged and robbed me!"
"What?!"
"I woke up at at ten AM, head like lead, in some seedy motel in the desert, with no phone, no Rolex and no wallet. Desk clerk let me call the cops. The cops found my phone in the bushes, bashed up." He held up the battered and broken phone, that was completely dead. "Apparently the woman is known for picking up dudes and drugging and robbing them. Lucky for me the cops gave me a lift back."
Yugi was horrified. "Shit!" He shook his head in disbelief. "Are you okay to duel?"
"Like this?!" He gestured incredulously at himself and snorted. "I look and feel like a bag of shit!" And then he sighed, defeated. "I've missed sign on anyway."
"Pegasus has given you more time. You can still make it if we're quick." Yugi glanced at his watch. "You've got eleven minutes."
"Grr… crap! I still gotta go up and get my deck! No way I can get to my room and back that quickly!"
"Don't give up that easily! You go and sign on, I'll go up and get your deck!" Yugi was already running for the lifts.
"Yug! Wait up?!" grumbling, and mumbling something about his key card being in his stolen wallet, Jonouchi ran after him. Yugi stopped and reassured him.
"I've got your spare card, remember?" The two men had exchanged key cards, just in case one of them accidentally locked themselves out, which sometimes happened.
Jonouchi sighed. "I don't want you missing your own duel on account of me."
"I won't. Now go! Sign on and I'll get your deck to you asap." The lift arrived and Yugi got in, leaving an agitated Jonouchi alone in the foyer.
"Crap!" Jonouchi hissed, and ran into the ballroom. Pegasus and Kaiba were standing there; Pegasus checking his watch, while Kaiba looked straight at him, glowering. "Double crap!" Kaiba was the last person he wanted to see, but he ran over anyway. "I'm here. Where'd I sign on?"
Both CEO's fixed him with unamused glares. Pegasus's nose wrinkled. "Jonouchi Boy! You smell like a brewery!"
"You smell like a vagrant." Disgusted, Seto sneered at the dishevelled blonde. "I'm disqualifying you for contravening the cleanliness rule."
Jonouchi defended himself. "Hey! At least I don't have body odour. And my shirt was clean on last night!"
"No?! You smell like a drunk who spent the night in a whorehouse," said Seto nastily.
Pegasus stepped in. "He's here. We may as well let him duel." He sighed impatiently. "Do you have your deck?"
"Erm….."
Seto rolled his eyes. "I'll take that as 'No'."
Jonouchi ignored him and addressed Pegasus, "Yugi's gone to my room to get it for me." As if things could not get any worse, Jonouchi spotted Mai coming over. She did not look pleased with him.
Leaving them to it, Pegasus went up onto the stage to announce that with the qualifying rounds complete, the main draw would be underway in ten minutes. First duel up was Katsuya Jonouchi!
Said duelist barely heard the crowd cheering as his on/off girlfriend confronted him.
"You look like something my cat brings in," she said, looking a bit disgusted with him.
"Don't start Mai, I've had a tough night."
She snorted disparagingly. "I'll bet!"
"I got robbed by some woman, okay?" At his statement, her eyes widened as she put two and two together.
"You got caught in a honey trap! Oh, that's…" she started giggling.
"It ain't funny, Mai!" She drugged me and stole my wallet and phone. And the Rolex I won when you and me dueled in that tag tournament."
"That'll teach you to pick up loose women in casinos, won't it?" She had not meant to sound so vitriolic.
"How'd you….?" he did not complete his sentence, because Yugi came jogging up to them clutching Jonouchi's cards. "Yug! You didn't tell her what happened, did ya?"
"Tell her what?" replied Yugi innocently.
"About me meeting that Texan chic."
Yugi grimaced apologetically. "Oh, er… We bumped into each other when I got back from the casino last night." He was trying hard not to look like he was hiding his and Mai's guilty secret.
Luckily, Jonouchi did not notice anything odd in his demeanour. "Meh… guess it don't matter. Ya got them to delay the tournament, and you got my deck for me: I owe ya one. Thanks."
"Just win your duel, okay?"
Smiling, Jonouchi nodded. "Yeah… will do."
"And watch out," added Mai. "If you'd been here watching like the rest of us, you'd know he runs a machine deck."
Jonouchi shrugged. "Whatever, he don't stand a chance," he said confidently.
Making his way to the duel platform, he hoped that the lighting would be kind and that no one would notice he was a hungover mess, and that he was still wearing his suit from the night before, instead of his usual more casual dueling attire.
Never one to quit, he withstood the opponents high powered machine deck and miraculously won his match (mostly thanks to his opponent making a terrible miss-play) to make it through to the last sixteen. Somehow, he won again and then went on to beat Mai in the semis and advance to the final, where he found himself up against his best friend and tournament favourite, Yugi Muto.
As expected, Yugi won and was crowned champion, but Jonouchi had put aside his horrible night and was on a roll, presenting his friend with a tough challenge. Although it was a close run duel, Jonouchi suspected that his friend had been going easy on him for some reason, which Yugi denied.
In a much anticipated match, Yugi was up against Kaiba next. The crowd had swelled for the semis and the final, but seemed to grow even bigger as the two biggest names in Duel Monsters prepared to do battle.
As per usual, fate seemed to play a hand in Yugi beating Seto Kaiba, much to Kaiba's chagrin.
And Pegasus proclaimed the tournament a success.
Hope you enjoyed. Hopefully back with the next chapter in a week's time.
