TaeKwonHindu was fine. Completely fine. She was not bothered she missed out on tickets for her favourite band because she had to stop the Reptilios from plundering Earth's resources again. After all, it was for the greater good, right - God's Gang.
Still, she wished she could go.
The day before the concert, she put on her headphones to practice some taekwondo moves she hadn't in a while - use it or lose it, after all. That was when ChrisCross entered the room.
'Hey. TaeKwonHindu.'
TaeKwonHindu lowered her headphones. 'Hey, ChrisCross,' she said. 'Just practicing some moves.'
'Yeah, looking good.'
'Gotta keep on top.'
'Absolutely.'
'Is there anything important?'
'Well, I know you wanted to see Black Hole Baby tomorrow night.'
TaeKwonHindu waved her hand. 'No, it's okay. Some things are more important than going to see a concert.'
'I know. But it means a lot to you. We all see it.'
TaeKwonHindu said nothing.
'Come on. Come with me,' ChrisCross said, holding his arm out.
'Okay, now I'm interested.' TaeKwonHindu set her headphones down on the table and followed ChrisCross into the living room, where SuMuslim and NinJew were waiting on the sofa.
'TaeKwonHindu,' NinJew began, 'SuMuslim and I have been on a hunt ever since concert tickets for your favourite band were released.'
'You have?' TaeKwonHindu asked in surprise. 'Tickets sold out so quickly.'
'Yet we managed to find some,' SuMuslim said, handing the tickets over to TaeKwonHindu.
TaeKwonHindu took the tickets and looked over them in awe. Not just one ticket. But four. 'Wait, you guys don't like heavy metal.'
'Well, we wouldn't be very good friends if we didn't take an interest in your interests,' said ChrisCross. 'Even if we don't like heavy metal like you do.'
TaeKwonHindu smiled. 'Thanks, guys,' she said. She glanced down at the tickets in her hand, and back at her friends. 'You're the best friends ever.' She gave one ticket to ChrisCross, one to NinJew, and one to SuMuslim, who all thanked her.
'It'll be nice to spend the evening together,' NinJew said. 'Without having to worry about anything other than having fun.'
'Plus, if anyone tries to disturb the concert, God's Gang will be right there to protect it,' ChrisCross said.
'But we're hoping we can just enjoy the music,' SuMuslim said. 'And being with our friends.'
'I didn't know you guys even knew Black Hole Baby,' TaeKwonHindu said.
'You kidding?' ChrisCross asked. 'You play them all the time.'
'And you talk about them all the time,' SuMuslim said.
'We know they're your favourite band,' NinJew said. 'And it's okay we don't like them - you do. And we like you. You're our friend.'
TaeKwonHindu looked at her friends. There's nobody she'd rather be going to the concert with anyway. It was a chance to share what she loved with the people she loved. Even though they didn't all like the same bands or believe the same things, they respected each other anyway.
Which was most important. That's what made them friends.
