Fifteen hours.

Donna had been in the hospital for fifteen hours now, and she couldn't take it anymore, she just couldn't wait to get home from her twenty-four hour shift and sleep all day to make up for her crazy day. After helping out in the emergency room, she had just sat down to eat a bite when her pager rang and the redhead sighed.

«Shit»

«What? Are you being called to the operating room?» muttered Scottie.

«Yeah, heart discomfort. I have to go»

«Have fun»

«Yeah» snorted Donna before running to the operating room as fast as she could.

Barely in front of room three, she entered the airlock where she hurried to start the surgical hand washing while observing the patient who was installed on the operating table already under perfusion and intubated while Donna continued to hurry, knowing full well that the cardiac malaise could be fatal. Barely finished, she entered the room, where two nurses hurried to dress her while the redhead asked for a brief summary of the situation from her intern.

«Rach, what do we have?»

«Thirty-eight year old man, fainted in court in the middle of the trial, they already performed cardiac massage in the ambulance, and he was unconscious when he got here»

«Thirty-eight? That's young. Does he have a history of heart disease?»

«He doesn't, we found in his file an exam that he had done a cardiac exam four years ago that was negative but indicated that his father died of cardiac arrest at sixty-two and that his mother also has a history of heart disease»

«And he doesn't see cardiologists every year? What an idiot»

«Well, after today, he will»

«Hoping he'll survive — Alright, let's start the angioplasty»

As a silence settled in the room, Donna hurried to perform the gesture she had done hundreds and hundreds of times: she disinfected his already shaved wrist before making a small incision and sliding a catheter up to his heart and observing the screen, looking for blocked arteries. After a few minutes of silence, Donna murmured.

«Alright, I see three blocked arteries, we're going to place stents. Rach are you getting everything ready?»

«Of course»

As Donna began the procedure, her intern assisting her, the two women began to chat.

«What are your plans for tomorrow?»

«Sleep»

«Donna, come on. You're beautiful, young, smart, you should go out, otherwise, you'll never meet the love of your life. And I've known you for years. You want babies and the family type life, you have to start looking»

«The love of my life? You're cute. I'm a cardiologist, I'm married to my job, I don't have time to find the love of my life. And even then, believe me, no one wants to share their life, even more children, with someone who practically sleeps in the hospital and is never home»

«That's sad»

«Yeah but that's the hard reality» sighed the redhead.

For a few seconds, no one said anything, both focused on the angioplasty while thinking about Donna's words, until Rachel whispered.

«He's hot»

«Isn't a bit old for you?»

«Ten years is fine. But I wasn't talking for me. Thirty-eight is perfect for you»

«Rach»

«Look at him. He's sexy, right?»

After successfully inserting the first stent, she paused for half a second to look at his face. Prominent jaw, perfect nose, dirty blonde hair, and despite all the equipment that helped him breathe during the operation, he seemed to have a beautiful smile.

«He seems alright, yeah»

«You like what you see. I knew it»

«That's not what I said. Alright, give me the other stent, I'm passing into the left ventricle» chuckled the redhead.

For another twenty minutes, she continued to work on repairing the man's heart on the operating table until she was done, compressing the puncture site at his wrist and removing artificial respiration. For the first time since she had landed in the operating room, she saw his face without equipment, and Rachel was right, he was hot, but more importantly, he was handsome. She wondered what his eyes looked like and couldn't help but gently brush one of his locks that fell back onto his forehead. Once ready, the stretcher takes the patient to the cardiology department before Donna returns to the break room to finally eat, waiting for him to wake up before going to see him. After devouring her salad, a slight feeling of eagerness to go see this handsome stranger invading her, she went through her office to put on her doctor's coat, remove her surgical caps before passing Rachel, who was encoding her data on the shared computer.

«Are you going to see Mr. Handsome?»

«This has to stop, you're really starting to become obsessed with my love life»

«Yeah, that's true» snorted the brunette.

Once the cap was removed, she shook her hair before making a low, loose bun and leaving the room, followed by Rachel to go to the stranger's room, accompanied by a nurse from the unit. In the daylight, compared to the fluorescent and large lamp of the operating room, Donna realized that his complexion was a little darker than she had imagined and that his hair was also a little darker, almost brown. As she approached, she gently took his wrist between her fingers to observe his skin and if there were any side effects at the puncture point before sliding them over his soft skin until she found his pulse and checked his heart rate, shivers running through her at the contact of their skin against each other.

«His blood pressure is good, and his pulse too. What about his temperature?»

«99F»

«Alright, all good then»

At the same time, the man's eyes fluttered and the heart monitor was beeping, indicating a faster heart rate, Donna felt her heart race as she saw his beautiful brown chocolate eyes for the first time, so deep and intense, and she didn't even know what to say for half a second. Alright, she couldn't lie, he was indeed very beautiful and charming. So after taking a quick breath, she whispered softly.

«Welcome back, Mister Specter»

«Am I dead?»

«Nope, very still alive»

«Impossible, there are no angels on earth»

As he looked at Donna with an intense gaze and his arrogant smirk, she blushed slightly before snorting while looking at him.

«That's neat»

«Sorry, I didn't mean to be disrespectful, it was a joke, even if you are really beautiful, I must still be under the effects of anesthesia. Anyway, what am I doing here?»

«You passed out in court, and we had to give you a cardiac massage in the ambulance, I then placed three emergency stents for blocked arteries, but we should probably do another exam just to make sure there are no more» explained Donna.

«Jesus»

«Mister Specter, you realize that you could have died today?»

«Thank goodness you were there, then»

« I'm serious. You have a cardiac history in your family, you were supposed to be followed up by a specialist at least once a year, I guess that is not the case?»

«No»

Seeing her looking at him with a mixed look, he rubbed his face before sighing.

«I know, I am an idiot»

«You are, yeah. Anyway, I'll let you rest now, and I'll come back later to check that everything is okay»

«Alright. Thank you, doctor. For real»

As he looked at her with a look full of admiration, gratitude, and a hint of lust, Donna swallowed hard before smiling at him and leaving the room, butterflies in her stomach. What was wrong with her? Come on, she was a doctor, a cardiac surgeon, she had promised to put her career first and never let herself be distracted, but obviously, her heart had decided otherwise every times, she was looking at her patient. Harvey, for his part, didn't have much memory. He remembered feeling a pain in his chest, being hot, sweating, everything was blurry around him, and then, everything went black, and it was a total blackout. But as he opened his eyes and his gaze fell on the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, he could feel his heart beating as fast as it had in court and thought he was having a heart attack or something once again, but no, it was just the most beautiful woman standing in front of him. He always had a thing for redhead, since he saw Ricky Garfield's mom, he knew that that beautiful red hair color would be his weakness, but there, as the doctor looked at him, it was more than a weakness. Big sparkling green-brown eyes, long but proportional nose, freckles faintly hidden on his face but visible on his arms, a perfect mouth, neither too full nor too thin, with an adorable smile that made him melt: what was in front of him was his now fucking kryptonite. If the physical appearance had pleased him — even more than that — directly, the moment when she had whispered his name, Harvey could have been able to kiss her in front of the two other women present, tongue and teeth, without any embarrassment, because, the way the word rolled off his tongue had made his hair stand on end. Her voice was soft, soothing, and so sexy that he could have listened to it for hours. What was wrong with him? He wasn't that kind of guy. Harvey was more of the type to sleep with the first person who came along, no matter what her physical appearance was, as long as he found her sexy, then move on, without even remembering her first name the next day and without trying to find out more about her either, but there, he wanted to know everything about her, was ready to reach for the moon when, apart from the fact that she was a doctor, he knew nothing else about her. God, that wasn't him, so, in order not to show his feelings, he was acting stupid as usual, and after that joke about him being dead, he felt even more stupid. After that brief discussion, she left the room while he watched her walk away, impatiently waiting for the moment when she would come back to see him. Barely out of the room, Rachel looked at Donna with a knowing smile.

«What?»

«Oh please, don't tell me you didn't see the way he looked at you?»

«He's a flirt»

«Yeah but a sexy flirt»

«Never mind, Rach. Come on, we still have things to do»

For almost two more hours, Donna went around all the patients in the unit and took care of all the administrative work, the mysterious lawyer and his arrogant smile invading her thoughts. It was stupid, she really had to stop, okay, he was handsome — very handsome — and she might have had a mini crush, but that was it. Besides, she could clearly see that he wasn't someone serious, who just liked to have fun and flirt with women, but there was something different in his eyes when he focused on her, like there was her and her only, like she was the only one in the world. Anyway, only five more hours of shift, and she could finally go home. In front of her, on her computer screen, she had the monitoring of all her patients, and all were within the norms, even Mr. Specter's, and if she didn't necessarily need to go see him now, she glanced around, knowing that she was alone, Rachel probably in the cafeteria, and walked until she found herself in front of room 207 as her heart was beating wildly. After knocking gently, she entered the room to see that the screen had the same heart rate as on her computer, but the moment he looked up from his phone to look at her, she saw the patient's pulse speed up and swallowed hard as she thought back to her medical classes. The sudden increase in heart rate can be caused by heart conditions: everything was in order on that side, intense physical activity: he was resting, drug or alcohol addiction: his blood test was good, side effects of medication: he was not taking anything, leaving Donna with the last option: strong emotions.

«Doctor»

«Mr. Specter, how are you feeling?»

«Good»

«No pain, breathing problems, or anything?»

«I'm fine, you did a great job, doctor…. Paulsen» smiled Harvey as he read her name on her white coat.

«Alright then, I'll just do a quick check. Temperature?»

As she handed the thermometer to his patient, he quickly slipped it under his arm while she noted the constant differences on the monitor — something she could have done right from her desk — while she could feel the man's burning gaze on her.

«So?»

«99 F»

«Good»

«Thanks again doctor, for saving my life»

«You need to be followed by a specialist, Mr. Specter»

«I know»

«I read your medical records, both of your parents suffer from heart problems, and unfortunately, it's often hereditary, look what happened today»

«I know that too»

«So why?» sighed the redhead.

«Alright, it stays between us?» chuckled Harvey.

«Medical confidentiality» smiled Donna.

«It scares me»

Faced with the man's revelations, surprised to hear him confide with such gentleness compared to his usual goofy side, she turned to look at him with an intrigued look before he resumed his conversation.

«I act as if I can control everything, that I manage and all that, but I have no control over that. I could die tomorrow without being able to do anything, and the very idea of dying alone scares me, so I prefer to push these ideas away and convince myself that everything is fine, that I am invincible. It's stupid, right?» snorted the man.

«No, I think it's human. But from now on, you have stents, so you will have to be monitoredanyway »

«Promise»

As he showed her his little finger with his arrogant smile, the redhead played along and did the pinky promise with him while she melted when he looked at her with such gentleness in his eyes. Feeling the heavy silence in the room, she cleared her throat before speaking in a soft voice.

«Everything is perfect, I'll leave you alone for today»

«You won't come back?»

«Well, I finish my shift in four and a half hours, until then, there's no need for me to come by»

«But I'll see you tomorrow?»

«Oh no, I just did twenty-four shifts on call, so it'll be my colleague tomorrow»

«What about you?»

«What about me?» smiled Donna.

«When are you coming back?»

«Thursday»

«Alright, see you Thursday, then»

«See you Thursday, Mr. Specter»

After a last smile, she left the room with her heart pounding to finish the two or three things left to do and finally go home, where she fell asleep with butterflies in her stomach thinking about him. If Donna recovered from her last shift in the warmth of her bed, Harvey did not like the second doctor at all. Doctor Mentis was a man in his fifties with a questionable sense of humor and not as conscientious as the redhead who made his heart beat wildly as soon as he saw her. So the lawyer was patient while waiting for Thursday to see her again as the redhead spent her two days of break mainly sleeping, often waking up with a start after a daring dream with her sexy patient. What the hell? On Thursday morning, she took a deep breath before entering the cardiology department and sitting down at the conference table to begin the transmission of information for the day. As the list went on, they got closer and closer to the lawyer's name, and Donna felt a rush of heat just seeing it.

«Next up is Harvey Specter, a thirty-eight-year-old man who came in through the emergency room on Tuesday after a heart attack while he was busy pleading in court. CPR in the ambulance, stents inserted in the OR by Dr. Paulsen on Tuesday afternoon. Cardiac history on both parents, and he was supposed to have another angioplasty yesterday but declined on the grounds that he was tired and would rather do it today, when in reality he just wanted Dr. Paulsen to take care of him since he's obsessed with her»

«No, he's not» snorted Donna.

«Oh, he is. He kept asking about you all the time and asking what time you started today, let me tell you, the guy fell hard»

«Anyway. How is he?» asked the redhead to change the subject.

«Well, he slept well, his vitals are good, and an angiogram has been scheduled for him at nine today with you. Oh, and he's eager to seeyou »

«Alright, next patient?» chuckled Donna.

For another ten minutes, she made the rounds of the patients with her few interns until she arrived again in front of room 207 where she took a deep breath before knocking on the door. When she heard the patient answer, she opened the door and stopped short when she saw the lawyer standing there, wearing only his boxers, his slightly bulged chest, and his traced abs, as she felt a wave of heat invade her. Aside from his face and arms, Donna hadn't seen anything else of him, and if he was already very handsome, his body was just as much, he was so sexy that the redhead had a hard time looking away for a few seconds, especially since it had been a while since she had spent the night with a man and she could use a bit of sexy time right now.

«Doctor Paulsen»

As he looked at her with a big smile and sparkling eyes, she couldn't help but roll her eyes at his mischievous look.

«Mr. Specter»

«I missed you yesterday»

«I heard that»

As he laughed softly, the two interns looked at Donna with a look of incomprehension and slightly embarrassed while the redhead snickered.

«Can you go to bed? We need to do a quick exam»

«Alright»

Barely lying down, still in his boxers, Donna stared at the tablet she had in her hands for a few seconds while Harvey murmured.

«Didn't you miss me?»

As she looked up from her tablet to stare at him with a smirk, she decided to play along.

«It was my day off, I didn't think about work»

«But you thought about me?»

«I heard you refused a medical examyesterday »

«No, I refused a medical exam that wasn't yours»

«And why is that?» chuckled Donna.

«I can only entrust my heart to you»

«Alright. So you'll have to entrust it to me again today at nine o'clock»

«Perfect, I had nothing planned anyway»

While both of them looked at each other with eyes full of desire, ready to jump on each other and have sex in the hospital bed, the two interns didn't know where to put themselves, much too embarrassed by this game of seduction between the doctor and his patient. After a few seconds, she chuckled before leaving the room and returning to her business, the lawyer still in her mind. At two o'clock sharp, she entered the operating room, where her patient was already lying down and on the examination table.

«There you are» smiled Harvey.

«There I am» replied Donna.

After disinfecting his wrist again, he began to speak.

«You're not putting me to sleep?»

«It's a local anesthesia»

«And how long does the procedure last?»

«Half an hour, or an hour, depending on what I find»

«Good, we have an hour to get to know each other — Do you mind Harold?»

«No no» muttered the intern while Donna laughed.

«Good. So, Doctor Paulsen, you are a cardiac surgeon»

«I am, yeah»

«How many years of study is that?»

«Almost ten years»

«Wow»

«Yeah»

«And will I have the honor of knowing your name?»

«It's Doctor Paulsen»

«I understood that, I'm talking about your real name»

«Doctor Paulsen» repeated the redhead with a big smile under her surgical mask.

«Harold?»

«Her name is Donna» stuttered the young man.

«Gunderson» sighed the doctor as she stared at him with a bored look.

«Donna? That's a very beautiful name»

«Thank you»

Taking advantage of the few seconds of silence, Donna introduced the catheter before sliding it to explore his heart, and, if she was focused on the screen, she could feel the lawyer's gaze on her. So, without turning her gaze from the screen to see what she was doing, she whispered.

«Stop it»

«Stop what?»

«Staring at me»

«Am I distracting you?»

«A little, yeah»

«Oh, alright»

Seeing that he continued to stare at her, she tried to hide her smile before whispering.

«You are aware that what I am doing right now is anything but a procedure where I can't be distracted?»

«I know, but I trust you. You have my all heart»

«Oh my God» chuckled the redhead while the lawyer imitated her.

It wasn't the first time she had been hit on by a patient, far from it, and if it usually bothered her, this time it was different. Alright, he attracted her, but apart from that, she could see that he liked to tease her, but he was sincere, and his words weren't to destabilize her, put her down, or make her feel uncomfortable, but rather as if he was saying it as a joke, but at the same time, hoping that she would understand that he was sincere. For another half hour, she continued her exploration while chatting with the lawyer, who continued to tease her while she laughed at his silly behavior. Once finished, she stood next to him to speak to him in a soft voice.

«It's perfect, your heart is fine»

«Thanks to you»

«It's true»

«My savior» murmured Harvey with a soft look.

«If all goes well, you can leave the hospital this afternoon»

«Already?»

«Yes»

«Oh, alright»

As he seemed disappointed, her pager was beeping at the same time, indicating an emergency, and Harvey watched as she tore off her mask, gloves, and everything she had while speaking quickly.

«Gunderson, I have an emergency for a coronary artery bypass in room four, are you taking care of the post-op relay? Thanks — Mr. Specter, I'll come back to see you before signing your discharge papers»

Without waiting for a response from him, she ran out of the room, leaving the lawyer alone with the young intern and his blond curls, and seeing the young man looking at him with a lost look, Harvey chuckled before whispering.

«Man, I think I'm in love»

For her part, Donna's heart was beating fast, a mixture of adrenaline from running to the operating room and the image of her patient's tender but burning gaze on her. She wasn't going to lie to herself, she would reluctantly sign his discharge papers, but he was just a crush, and she had to get back to her life, and so did he. Once out of surgery, she took care of the paperwork, she went back to the cardiac department, where Rachel gave her the afternoon debriefing.

«As for Mr. Specter, all in order, he can leave. You just have to sign the discharge papers for him»

«Alright» murmured Donna, swallowing hard, her gaze still fixed on her sheet to prevent Rachel from seeing her.

«You know, I think he would have been capable of hurting himself just to stay here a little longer» laughed the brunette.

«You're talking nonsense. Come on, give me his discharge papers» chuckled Donna.

About twenty minutes later, Donna was heading towards the lawyer's room, Rachel following close behind, absolutely not wanting to miss the heartbreaking goodbyes as she liked to say, and barely in the room, he looked up to see who was entering, and the heart rate of the monitor accelerated again as soon as their gazes met.

«Doctor»

«Mr. Specter, you're free to go»

« You're sure?»

«Yeah, I'm sure» chuckled Donna.

She came over and turned off the monitor, unplugging all the cables connected to the electrodes stuck on the man's bare chest while Harvey shivered when her fingers brushed his skin. At that moment, he just wanted to grab her hand, intertwine their fingers together to place kisses on her knuckles, and breathe in her exquisite scent, but, as she seemed focused on her task, Harvey couldn't help but memorize every feature of her absolutely perfect face. Once she was done, Donna smiled at him before giving him all the papers, informing him to rest for a bit and greeting him, and, as she was about to leave the room, he called her.

«Doctor Paulsen?»

«Yeah?»

«What time do you finish today?»

«Goodbye, Mr. Specter» chuckled Donna.

As he was desperate, he looked at the discharge papers he was holding in his hand before starting to get dressed and prepare his bag, sad about the fact that she was slipping through his finger, but, as he was about to go out, the brunette who accompanied the redhead earlier quickly entered the room before speaking.

«She finished at 6 and she goes out on the employees' exit, at the back»

«Does she like flowers?»

«She loves it» smiled Rachel.

«Alright, thank you» chuckled Harvey with a huge smile.

Once the brunette left, he hurried home to take a shower, shave properly, put on perfume, go to the hairdresser, and go buy flowers, before standing in front of the employees' exit at the back of the hospital at five thirty, impatiently waiting for the redhead to come out. For his part, Donne had just finished her shift and was starting to get dressed in the locker room, the handsome lawyer still in her mind, not wanting to leave his thoughts. Once ready, she greeted her colleagues before leaving the hospital and walking towards the exit, stopping dead in her tracks when she saw who was waiting for her. In front of her, her former patient was wearing navy blue suit pants, a white shirt, his hair perfectly styled, and a huge bouquet of flowers in his hands, the biggest bouquet she had ever seen in her life. For Harvey, while he had been waiting for over an hour now, the moment she left the hospital, his breath caught when he saw her. She was wearing wide black pants that highlighted her slim waist and a simple white crop top, ideal for the mild temperature of June, revealing her long pale arms covered with freckles and the thin strip of her stomach, while her long straight hair was cascading down to the middle of her back. If she was beautiful in scrubs, she was absolutely divine in casual wear, as Harvey swallowed hard when he saw her approach.

«Mr. Specter»

«Harvey — Please, call me Harvey»

«Harvey. I thought I told you to rest»

«That's what I did. I went home, rested for two hours, and then I came here»

«That's not what I call resting»

«I couldn't miss you — Here, it's for you»

«That's very kind»

«Come have a drink with me» murmured Harvey with a hopeful gaze.

«Mr. Specter, I —»

«Harvey»

«Harvey, yeah. Look, I'm flattered, really, but you're my patient— »

«Former patient» corrected Harvey again.

«Former, right, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a doctor and I don't get involved with my patients»

«Just a drink»

«I —»

«Please. One drink, that's all I ask»

For a few seconds, Donna was thinking because, even if her heart was begging her to say yes and go further than one drink, she knew that it would lead to nothing because she was still married to her job and had no room for a man in her life. But seeing him looking at her with such expectation, his chocolate eyes staring at her with sweetness, she melted and gave in.

«Alright, but just one drink»

«Just one drink, I promise»

6 months later...

Since his discomfort in court, Harvey radically changed his lifestyle. He stopped eating takeout food, well, had reduced it considerably, before also stopping alcohol except during evenings with friends and business meetings. He also slowed down at work, spending long hours there only if it was really necessary. But since his intervention, he had also become aware of the importance of careful cardiac monitoring, and right now, as he was now waiting for the doctor to call him for his check-up six months after his hospitalization, he sighed impatiently. As soon as he saw the door open, he chuckled seeing the redhead, the one who made his heart beat wildly months ago, rolling her eyes as she saw him.

«I can't believe it»

«Doctor Paulsen»

«Mr. Specter»

«May I?»

«Of course, please, have a seat»

As he sat down in front of her, the doctor typed for a few seconds on her computer keyboard, looking for her patient's file, before speaking to him in a soft voice.

«Since the operation, have you changed your lifestyle?» smirked the redhead.

«Well, these last six months, my heart has been in great demand because — I don't know if you are aware — but I'm in love, like crazy in love. And as soon as I see this woman, my heart races, and I feel like I'm going to faint as soon as I see her because she's so beautiful. Is it serious, doctor?»

«No, you just seem very in love»

«Crazy in love»

«Physical activity?»

«I box a lot to maintain my athletic body for her»

«What else?»

«A lot of intense sex»

«Oh, really?»

«Yeah, like, non stop»

«Good to know» snorted the redhead.

«You are so beautiful, Doctor» whispered Harvey.

As Donna continued to type on her keyboard, the lawyer looked at her with so much love and tenderness in his eyes that she blushed slightly. Feeling that he couldn't stop staring at her, she stopped typing to look at her patient with a small smile on the corner of her lips.

«I hope for your sake that you don't flirt with all your doctors like that»

«No, only the sexy redhead surgeons, and maybe your nephrologist colleague too»

«Francis?»

«Yeah»

«You are an idiot» snorted Donna.

Francis Owen was a man in his seventies, a doctor who was much too old to practice but who didn't seem to want to stop. Plus, this man had way too much hair everywhere to be human.

«Come on, sit on the examination table, I'm going to examine you»

As he sat down and took off his t-shirt, Donna approached to position the stethoscope correctly in her ears before placing it on her patient's chest against his heart, and melted when she saw him raise his gaze to look at her and heard his racing heart beating through her stethoscope when their eyes met. For a few seconds, she slid the cold metal against his skin until she felt the lawyer's lips rest on her neck. With a sigh, she murmured.

«Do you realize I'm at work?»

«Do you realize I haven't seen my fiancé in over forty-eight hours?»

«You knew that when you proposed, right?» chuckled the redhead.

«Still, I miss you» whispered Harvey as he continued to place open mouthed kisses on the skin of her neck, his hands sliding from her hips to her ass, holding her close.

«I miss you too. How did your trial go?»

«The second hearing will be Tuesday»

«And how do you feel about it? — Take a deep breath — Good or not?»

«Well, I think that, if Mike stopped hitting on Rachel and spent his time at the hospital trying to catch a glimpse of her, we'd move forward faster»

«Leave him alone» snorted Donna.

For a few more seconds, they remained in silence as she continued the examination.

«Take a deep breath»

As he complied, he continued to look at Donna with loving eyes, the redhead was in front of him, standing between his spread legs while he was still sitting on the examination table, his hands on the back of her upper thighs to bring her as close as possible to him. She then slid the stethoscope on the top of his back with one hand while the other delicately rested on his shoulder to then slide down to the nape of his neck, gently stroking his hair, this new proximity allowed the lawyer to place his lips on her cleavage, which was not even an inch from his mouth. As he took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of his fiancé, Donna smiled as she heard his heartbeat slow down, as if her smell soothed him, while she took the opportunity to place a kiss on his forehead only to hear him whisper.

«I hope you don't do that to all your patients»

«Only to the sexy lawyer who gives me flowers when I leave the hospital»

«Alright»

«Your heart is fine»

«Thanks to you»

«Do you have any questions?» whispered Donna, looking at him lovingly and sliding her hand into his hair.

«Yeah»

«Tell me»

«When can I put a baby in you?»

«Harv» giggled Donna.

«What?»

«Do you have a question about the consultation?»

«That was a question about the consultation»

«Oh, really?»

«Yeah, think about it. My heart is already full of love for you, so if we have a baby, or two — or even three, let's be crazy — it's going to change a lot of things for my heart, and since you're a cardiologist…»

«Oh, if it's as a cardiologist, I'd say you should marry your fiancé first»

«It's planned»

«Alright, and then after that, it would be worth thinking about it first because both of you have a pretty busy work schedule. Like wondering who will look after them when their mother is on call at the hospital»

«Their dad» smiled Harvey.

«And who will pick them up from school when their dad will be in court and their mom is in surgery?»

«Their awesome aunt Rachel who loves to meddle in other people's lives»

«Harv, I'm serious»

«Me too»

«You're a lawyer, I'm a surgeon, I don't want everything to go to shit because of our jobs»

«And I know you want a baby, that I want one too, that we love each other like we've never loved, before and that we'll love our children the same way, so please, for my heart health, answer my question: when can I put a baby in you?»

«Marry me first, and then we'll see» whispered Donna before kissing him.

«Okay, I'll call the judge tomorrow morning to see if he has a slot»

«Oh my God» snorted Donna.

As she pulled away from him, returning to her computer to write some notes for the consultation, he smirked before putting his shirt back on, standing up to walk over to her, and speaking softly.

«Am I your last patient?»

«Yes»

«Let's go home?» whispered Harvey as he placed a kiss on her neck, her attention still on the computer screen.

«Let's go home» repeated Donna as she ran her hand through his hair before turning around and kissing him passionately, all the love they felt for each other in that kiss.

Harvey had been afraid of dying six months ago, but if he had been told that he would have been saved by such a beautiful and perfect doctor, he would have done anything to have a heart attack just to meet her: the woman of his life.
