Julia was just your everyday goth girl, obsessed with wearing all black and accessories such as spike bracelets and chokers. Also a huge rock and metal lover. Up until she was 10 years of age, she took a particular interest in aerospace engineering she had always loved planes and would always get super excited when flying on them. But everything changed one faithful day when a letter arrived for her. Julia, though being really kind hearted, didn't have any friends, she was quite isolated and always was picked on at school. So when the letter came for her, she was confused as to who would want to write to her. Upon further inspection, it was sent to her from a place called Hogwarts, some sort of magic school. But Julia just assumed it was absolute bullshit, she knew magic to not exist, so she just assumed that the letter was probably some sort of prank from someone at school, but after giving it to her mother, she revealed that she was expecting this letter for quite some time now. Before she knew it, Julia was on her way to London to gather school materials, in a secret place only wizards and witches know about called Diagon Alley. After a while of shopping, she arrived at her final shop, Ollivander's. She entered and browsed around until Ollivander himself showed up.
"Hello dear, what can I do for you?" He asked kindly.
"I need a wand according to my list" Julia said whilst browsing the different wand choices.
"Miss Nightshade, is it?" Ollivander asked, to which Julia Nodded.
Ollivander then left to look for something, eventually he came back with a box, he brought it to the counter and opened it to reveal a wand.
"Give it a wave, see how well it works" he said, handing her the wand.
Julia took the wand and gave it a slight wave. The wand's tip lit up, leaving Ollivander impressed.
"Curious… I've never seen someone get a good wand on their first try" he stated simply.
Julia purchased the wand and left the shop, knowing in the next day would be her first day at hogwarts.
Julia was at the station on platform 9 and 3/4, she had just boarded the train and entered an empty cabin. She was alone for quite some time, until a girl with dirty blonde hair and silver-blue-gray eyes opened the cabin's door, holding a stack of some sort of magazine.
"Quibbler?" She asked.
Julia looked at her with a confused expression before shaking her head.
"You're the Nightshade girl, aren't you?" She asked, her dreamy look staring through Julia, as if inspecting her.
"Yeah, that would be me… how did you-" Julia started before the girl interrupted her.
"Everyone's talking about you" she simply stated.
"How so?" Julia asked.
"Well.. there are two main legends in the Wizarding world. Being Harry Potter and Casamir Nightshade" she said.
"That's… my father?" Julia said surprised.
"From what I heard, he was a powerful necromancer and a very close follower of he-who-must-not-be-named" She said.
"I'm sorry, who must not be named?" Julia asked.
"Nobody speaks his name… but… it's Voldemort" Luna said with a slight shudder.
"So uh… would you like to sit or?" Julia asked.
Luna simply nodded and sat opposite of Julia. A small while of awkward silence befell the cabin, only sounds that could be heard were the train running and faint student chatter through the cabin's closed door. Julia eventually spoke to break the silence.
"I'm Julia by the way, Julia Nightshade. What's your name?" She asked the dreamy girl.
"Luna Lovegood, though others call me Loony Lovegood" she said surprisingly calmly.
Julia frowned, a nickname like Loony Lovegood could only come from one place, jerks.
"Why do people call you that?" Julia asked.
"Well, people have always called me crazy, I merely see myself as a bit of an oddball y'know?" She said.
Julia shook her head.
"I don't think you're weird, heck, if you're weird then I'm weird too" Julia stated.
Luna smiled at that. The two remained silent for a small while, until Julia broke the silence.
"So… d-do you wanna be friends?" She asked nervously.
"Yeah, that sounds lovely" Luna said.
Eventually, the train reached it's destination and everyone disembarked to head to the castle.
The first years were being sorted into their respective houses. Professor McGonagal called out names one by one to be brought up to the sorting hat to be sorted into their respective houses.
"Hermione Granger?" She called.
A girl walked up to the hat and was placed in Gryffindor.
"Luna Lovegood?" Called the professor.
Julia watched as Luna went up to the hat.
"RAVENCLAW!" Called out the hat. Applause could be heard from the Ravenclaw table. More names were called out like Ron Weasely, Susan Bones, Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy and one name that struck Julia as confused, being Neopolitan. That was it, no surname, just Neopolitan. She was placed in Ravenclaw just like Luna. Eventually, the professor called the next name.
"Julia Nightshade?" She called.
Julia walked up to the hat and heard whispers around her, probably in regards to her father. Julia let the hat go on her head and eventually, it made up its mind.
"RAVENCLAW!" It called out.
The Ravenclaw table began to applaud as Julia headed over to it and sat next between Neopolitan and Luna, though Julia didn't pay much attention to Neopolitan as she just turned to Luna.
"Isn't it great we're both in Ravenclaw?" Julia asked excitedly.
Luna nodded in agreement. The hall erupted in conversation once the feast began. Eventually, the feast ended as Julia and Luna headed up to the Ravenclaw common room to head to their dorms. Once they reached their dorm, they noticed that the Neopolitan girl was also there with them, though she looked sad, and was gripping a bowler hat. Neither of the two knew who she was or where she came from, all they know was that she hasn't spoken at all since she got there and she always carried that hat around with her. Julia approached the girl cautiously.
"Hey" she said.
The girl glared at her, and turned away from Julia without saying a word. Julia placed her hand on her shoulder but the girl just slapped her hand quite harshly away.
"Are you okay?" Julia asked.
But the girl just waved her off. Julia just sighed and walked back to her bed, deciding to go to sleep but was unable to think straight because all she could think about was the mysterious girl in pink and brown hair.
