Superwomen of Eva: Adventures in the Void
There is a multiverse. Multiple realities coexisting with one another. Some are so similar to each other, you can spend a lifetime searching for a distinction. Others are radically different that they defy comprehension.
There are worlds that are deemed undesirable, or for one reason or another cannot go on. These worlds are pruned, and all that's left is thrown to the void at the end of time, where everything ceases to be.
As time does not pass in the Void, it's impossible to gauge when this happened, but a purple robot-like figure entered the Void. There it sat in stasis for a while, until a young wanderer, a pink-haired girl in a green and black suit and wearing a gold crown, was able to spot it in the desolate wastelands.
"Ms. Asuka, look!" she called out. Her companion, a girl wearing a black and red spandex suit and a black mask with triangular red eyes covering her entire face, hurried towards her to see what the other girl found.
"That's– that's Unit-01!" Asuka exclaimed, a small hint of hope in her voice. She removed her mask, revealing a red-headed girl, the same age as her companion.
"Do you think he's in there?" asked the other girl.
"Let's go check," she decided. That idiot better be in there. Maybe. Just maybe, after what felt like so many years, they can finally save their world.
Shinji Ikari felt like he's been sleeping for a long time. The last thing he remembered was trying to save Ayanami from the Angel, and then everything went blank.
Shinji opened his eyes, revealing to him a pink-haired girl in green clothes. She smiled once she saw that he finally came about.
"Ms. Asuka! He's awake!"
'Asuka?'
"About damn time." And there she was. The fiery pilot of Unit-02. "Hey Shinji. It's been a while."
Although they were hardly close, the last time Shinji saw Asuka, she was badly beaten thanks to that whole deal with the Ninth Angel. So once his mind was fully conscious, he immediately rushed to her.
"Asuka! Are you alright? Where's–"
Asuka silenced him with a finger to the lips. "Shush. Don't worry about it. The important thing is that you're here. That means we can finally go home!"
"Home?" it took Shinji a while to register the barren place that they were in. "Where are we anyway?" He turned to the pink-haired girl. "And who's this?"
"You don't recognize me, huh?" she said, sounding a little disappointed. "Oh well. I'm Loki," she introduced as she shook his hand. "Well, legally I'm Kotone Suzunami, but these days, I identify with my past life more."
"And as for this place," interrupted Asuka. "This is the Void, where everything that's pruned is thrown away."
Shinji didn't understand what any of that meant. "Pruned?"
Asuka shook her head. "It doesn't matter. Like I said, we finally have you! I'm sure the TVA can restore our world now!"
"Um, Ms. Asuka?" Loki caught the red-head's attention. "What exactly do we do next?"
Asuka smiled. "Easy. We just go to the inn and have that sorcerer girl take us to the TVA!"
"Hold it!"
The trio turned to the source of the voice. It was Ayanami. She's alive! But her entire body was silver for some reason, and she was riding a flying surfboard.
"Don't you dare touch him, Shikinami. Ikari is coming with me."
Before Shinji can ask what's going on, Asuka held on to him tight. "Like hell he is! We've been waiting for him to show up for so long, and we will not lose her to you, wonder girl!"
Asuka's eyes widened, and she made Shinji and herself duck. As it turned out, she sensed something come their way. Instead, it hit Unit-01, bouncing back to the one who threw it.
The object was revealed to be a circular shield, and its owner was Mari Illustrious Makinami.
"Sorry girls. You're just gonna have to wait a little longer because Shinji is mine!"
Just then, the clouds began to darken, and a white-haired girl in a black and gold dress holding a spear who seemed to be the cause of this appeared, hovering from the ground.
"No. He's mine!" She shot lightning from her spear, targeting Makinami who defended herself with her shield.
"Matte!"
The sound of a motorcycle was heard. A young brunette wearing a curious belt joined this strange gathering.
"Class Rep, you too?!" Shinji exclaimed in exasperation.
Hikari Horaki ignored his outburst, instead focusing on the other girls.
"I already lost my family. I'm not gonna lose the chance to save the rest of my world to you!"
She made a couple of arm movements, and then shouted, "Henshin! V3!" The Class Rep turned into a green insectoid cyborg.
It was clear that a battle was raging, and Shinji found himself in the middle of it all. Even the seemingly nice and submissive Loki summoned a black sword made up of some kind of goo.
And so the six women went at it. Shinji watched in awe as they revealed to him various abilities that until now he thought could only be possible in comic books. From Asuka's advanced agility and webs from her wrists, to the weather lady's lightning powers. Hikari and Makinami were fighting in hand to hand combat with incredible skill and technique, while Ayanami sent energy beams towards Asuka who was hanging on her surfboard. Weather lady seemed to have the upper hand against Loki, who was being careful despite her weapon, which it turned out is not just a sword, but a black substance in general that can be used for a variety of things.
Shinji suddenly felt a light tap to his shoulder. He turned to see an older brunette woman who seemed to have a robotic left eye and arm, and just like Hikari was riding a motorcycle.
"Come with me," she said to him. Shinji wasn't sure whether to trust her, but he also wanted to get the hell out of there, and he was sure he'd met this woman somewhere, so he nodded and hopped on, and they proceeded to ride away, leaving the others behind.
"Sorry about that," the woman said to him. "I'm Cable, by the way."
He was about to introduce himself before Cable cut him off. "Don't. I know who you are. As you just saw, you're quite famous."
"Yeah. What was that about, and who were they?" Shinji asked. "They look just like my friends, but I'm sure it's not them." If they were, he would've remembered them having such weird abilities.
"Well to start, you're right. They're not your friends, at least not as you know them. Do you know what the multiverse is?"
Shinji's eyes widened. He was familiar with the concept. "Are you saying that–?"
"Yep. They're all from other worlds, similar to yours, but different," Cable answered.
"If that's the case, then why do they want me?"
"Because you're an Anchor Being."
Knowing that it was hardly an explanation, Cable continued. "To put it simply, your existence is what holds your universe together. If an Anchor Being were to disappear, then their universe is up for destruction.
"Normally the process takes eons." Cable grimaced. "There are people who think that it should happen immediately."
Shinji shuddered. "Then that means…"
"Yeah. Their worlds got pruned because their version of you died."
"So they want me to replace their Shinji," he finished.
Cable nodded. "I'm glad you follow. I guess they're hoping the TVA can help bring their worlds back if they take you to them."
"What about you?" asked Shinji. "Was your world pruned too?"
Cable shrugged. "Eh. I lived most of my life in the Void, so I don't know." She smiled fondly. "But I'll never forget how you saved me."
Shinji had a look of realization. "Wait. You're–!"
Cable – Sakura Suzuhara – giggled. "Sorry big bro punched you."
"Er, sorry I stepped on you."
There was a brief silence before Shinji asked, "so, what do we do now?"
"Depends. What happened to you before you got here?"
Shinji told her about how Unit-00 was absorbed by the Tenth Angel and how he did all that he could to save it and Ayanami.
Cable smiled. "That's good. If I have to guess, you probably got sucked by a wormhole to here. It's likely that your world is still out there, waiting for you. We'll just have to send you back."
"But how?"
"Normally, I'd use my goober to send you home, but it's broken right now. So we'll have to go to the inn and get help from one of the sorcerers there. (And hopefully, I can get my goober fixed too)"
That reminded Shinji of earlier. "I heard Asuka say that they're also going to the inn."
"Figures. At least we have a head start, but they're probably after us by now."
At that moment, Cable and Shinji were hit by a beam.
Cable quickly held on to Shinji as they jumped off the bike
Their assailant was a red and gold metallic figure, flying via the gauntlets and boots that she wore, accompanied by another metal girl, this one turquoise and white and much more expressive, having the appearance of a teenage girl. She was also flying.
"Hand him over, Suzuhara," the red one demanded. "I don't want to fight you."
Cable pulled out two guns, pointing it each at the iron maidens, though Shinji wondered if it would have any effects on their metal bodies. "Damn it Kirishima! You don't have to do this!"
"I wish we didn't," said the turqoise girl in a low voice. "But we don't have a choice. Now hand him over!"
It was jarring to see that threatening tone on the otherwise rather cute figure, even Cable shuddered at the display.
"I guess we're doing this," Cable sighed. "Stand behind me, Mr. Ikari!"
Shinji complied, who despite not having done much, felt tired and worn out over all of this. Why does the universe have to literally revolve around him?
Unit-01 has been abandoned, forgotten by the superwomen who were now chasing after their last hope.
A hooded figure materialized in the area. They examined the mecha, and wondered if they should go with such a vanilla choice. But vanilla has its own charm. The figure smiled.
"He will have to do."
A/N: A few explanations.
I decided to make this story after watching Deadpool and Wolverine. I thought the Void is a concept full of endless possibilities, and here I've got a series of Marvel fanfics that have not been updated for a long time, so it only seemed natural.
Despite borrowing elements from it, it's unlikely that this story would interact with anything introduced in Loki (which I've never watched) or Deadpool and Wolverine.
For that matter, this story will not interact with Zero Infinity.
Scarlet Spider!Asuka and Kid Loki!Kotone are based on an idea I had of an Ultimate version of SoE taking place in a more Rebuild-like world and structured like the MCU, each installment expanding the previous one, but I never found the right motivation to actually make it over other ideas.
The bit where Kid Loki summoned what seems to be All Black the Necrosword is actually the Venom Symbiote, who in Ultimate SoE would've been bonded to Mari. Sadly, she is dead in this story.
Building off of that last bit, I don't plan on having any "repeat" characters here, except for two notable instances which I encourage people to guess.
V3!Hikari is based on another idea of mine, an SoE based on the Shin Japan Heroes Universe, where one of the Evangelion girls becomes a hero based on a character from the franchises the SJHU movies were based on.
Cable!Sakura was made specifically for this story.
I would also like to thank Author0fntent for helping me with a few ideas for the story which I would expand on later, and whose Tribute series inspired me to make this as well. Also, thank you Archdruid-Sephiroth for letting me use Storm!Mayumi.
