She wanted them to fight… each other?

"Do you get it now?" asked the Beyonder. "Whichever of you wins would get their wishes granted."

They all looked at each other with uncertainty. It was certainly a tempting offer. They don't know each other so well, what do they care about what happens to the other? This wish could very well be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And it's not like Shinji has a moral ground to stand on. When he tried to save Ayanami, he was only thinking about himself. Sure, Misato allowed it to happen, but he wondered what kind of damage did his actions caused.

Even Cable had to spurn others' hopes just to bring him back home.

But would she have approved of this?

She decided to help him get back home because it was still there. She wasn't spurning the others' wishes. She made sure his wouldn't be by the others' misguided hope. The Iron Maidens and Jenny even gave up when they found out that he still has a home to go to.

What would they say if they found out that he selfishly put his own wish over everyone else's, who also needed it, possibly more than he does.

"No," Shinji said, and everyone turned to him. "I want to go home, but I'm not going to trample on other people's wishes."

Houou Soldier hummed. "I agree with him. Although I have many goals, I will never forgive myself if it costs the happiness of these people who've done nothing to deserve it."

"Right!" exclaimed Kabuto. "In fact, I believe you, the all powerful being, are the only one who actually stands in the way of our wishes!" He pointed a finger at the Beyonder.

"We won't fight each other," Shinji declared. "Our only enemy… is you!"

The others nodded in agreement.

The Beyonder processed this. She scowled, and then snapped her fingers.

In a flash of light, all seven of them are reverted to their human forms (albeit with Lelouch still as Houou Soldier).

"I wanted to be fair. I offered you your greatest desire. But if this is how you want to play, so be it!"

The Beyonder's eyes glowed. She let out a great surge of energy that shook the entire world.

This energy soon dissipated when the portals appeared.

Earlier…

Cable watched as a meditating Sucy searched for Shinji and the Beyonder.

"I can't find them," she said. "The Beyonder must be hiding their presence."

Suddenly, Akko entered the room. "Guys, we have company."

At the front of the inn, Jenny, Shinobu, Nitoh, Tsubasa, and Dianne banded together to intercept the arriving superwomen.

"Don't worry! They're not here to pick a fight!" assured Mana 1.

"We just want to hang out with Shinji," insisted Asuka.

Cable came out of the inn and regarded Asuka skeptically, though the support of the Iron Maidens did validate her claims.

"Well that's going to be a problem. Shinji was taken by a Beyonder."

"No," Asuka whispered, while the other superwomen looked on in terror.

"Are you serious?" said Mana 2. To her despair, Cable nodded.

"We're doing all we could, but we can't find him."

"Heee~ey."

Everyone jumped in surprise as Terrifying Rei made her presence known.

"I heard you're dealing with a rogue Rei," she surmised. "What Rei exactly."

"A Rei Q," answered Cable. "But she's not exactly–"

Terrifying Rei cuts her off. "I see. Can she help?"

"Heee~ey," greeted another black-clad Rei that Terrifying Rei pulled out of nowhere.

"Right," Akko's eyes widened. "Of course!"

We cut to Akko's room, where Rei Q was now sleeping while Akko probed through her mind.

"What is she doing?" asked Cable.

"She's putting subliminal messages into Rei Q's mind," explained Sucy. "So that she'll dream of a Rei possessed by the Beyonder."

"She's going to dream walk?!" Cable demanded, knowing the repercussions of doing so.

"No," assured Akko. "I just need to… Yes! I found them! But, oh no, Shinji's in trouble!"

Cable was relieved to hear that Shinji had been located, but feared what kind of trouble he was in. "Is there anything you can do?"

"I can sense the barrier that the Beyonder put up. It's a passive ability, she's not focusing on maintaining its existence. If I could just disrupt it…"

CRACK!

The Present…

Cable was the first to step out of the portals, who smiled once she saw that Shinji was alright.

The rest of the superwomen followed. Both Iron Maidens, Jenny, the Scarlet Spider, Loki, the Silver Surfer, Captain America, and Storm.

Next was Shinobu, now a muscular green hulking beauty, Jade. Keitaro was with her, wearing a Hulkbuster.

The Scarlet Witch and Sucy came out of a portal together.

Following them were Kamen Rider V3 and Kamen Rider Beast.

Miss America and MagiYellow joined Houou Soldier.

The Ree were the last to arrive, now under the leadership of Terrifying Rei.

"Heee~ey!"

"Everyone!" said Shinji in joy.

"No way," said the Beyonder. "They broke through the barrier?"

"Are these your friends?" Ange asked Shinji.

"I guess so," Shinji said, smiling.

Ange chuckled. "You really are lucky."

Everyone then focused on the flabbergasted Beyonder, who stood motionless at seeing the display before her.

'Could it be?' she thought to herself.

The Beyonder gave a forced smile. "You got me. Very well. I'll play your game."

She snapped her fingers once more, summoning an army of Chitauri and Leviathans.

Shinji, Kabuto, Hiro, Ange, Noriko, and Takeshi prepared their transformation devices once more. They cried out their transformation announcements, and they became giants once again.

"Can I say it?" asked Mari, filled with adrenaline even more so than usual.

"Go ahead," said Mana 1. Mari smiled and raised her shield.

"Avengers, Assemble!"

The two opposing forces ran towards each other. The Surfer, Ultras, and Sigma took to the skies, fighting the Leviathans, the rest remained on ground level.

Unit-01 and Mazinger took on the lower Leviathans, as well as dealt with the Chitauri that they could.

Captain America used her shield to knock down a couple of Chitauri.

"Makinami!" called out Storm. Mari looked at white-haired girl who did som sort of signal. Mari understood and prepared her shield.

Storm fired a blast of lightning to Captain America's shield, the sparks taking down a bunch of the surrounding Chitauri.

Jade and Keitaro worked as a team. Jade's gamma-induced strength and the Hulkbuster's natural strength allowed them to fight off the enemy with ease.

V3 fought with hand to hand combat against multiple Chitauri. With the skill and power of her predecessors, she was overpowering them.

Beast scanned a green ring.

"Chameleo, Go! Cha-Cha-Cha-Cha-Chameleo!"

Beast was equipped with the Chameleo Mantle and used Chameleo's tongue as a whip.

Loki tried her best to make do with her makeshift Necrosword, but realizing that she's out of her league, especially without her past self's magic powers, she decided to pull the big gun.

"Alright, Venom. Your turn!"

And so the symbiote fully covered her body, becoming a monstrous Spider-Man like creature who gladly feasted on her enemies.

Some of the Ree fought individually. Others Zerg Rushed their opponents. Terrifying Rei unleashed upon them unknown horrors beyond comprehension.

And that was just her opening her mouth.

The Sentai teamed up and combined their powers. Houou Soldier and MagiYellow let out fire and lightning blasts respectively that Miss America guided with her Command Bats.

Sucy summoned mini portals and used them so that the Chitauri would punch each other. Akko similarly used her witch powers to mess with their minds and attack each other.

Jenny roamed the sky, fired rockets and enlarged her hands to crush the Chitauri.

"Kirishima!" shouted one of the Manas to the other. "Remember Lee? Let's do that!"

Mana nodded in understanding, and the two fired their repulsor rays toward each other. The two beams collided, the energy collecting until it caused a mini explosion, taking the surrounding enemies with it.

The Scarlet Spider swung with Cable in tow, who shot the Chitauri that she could.

Cable and the Scarlet Spider landed on Unit-01's shoulder. "Hey Mr. Ikari. Sorry we took a while."

"Shinji," Asuka started. "I'm sorry we hounded you. I swear we're gonna make it up to you starting right now!"

The Beyonder watched the battle unfold.

"Oh my. It seems like I should join the fight."

She summoned Evangelion Mark.09 and floated up to enter it. The Eva activated.

"Let's take her down, Shinji!" said Kabuto.

However, The Silver Surfer started flying at the Eva. The Iron Maidens (with V3 and Captain America in tow respectively), Jenny, and Storm followed suit, swarming the Eva like flies.

Mari threw her shield at the Eva and V3 delivered a Rider Kick.

The Scarlet Spider and Venom joined in, sticking on the Eva and swinging on it.

"Mr. Ikari," Cable started. "Once you get home, things will be… tough. You're going to experience a lot of hurt and hardships. But trust me, I'm at your side. So is Ms. Misato."

The Beyonder was annoyed. "Fools! Do you really think you can defeat me this way?"

Cable smirked. "No, but now you can't stop us from doing this."

Sucy flew to Unit-01's level and summoned a giant portal.

Asuka said something that Shinji never thought he would ever hear.

"Shinji, run away!"

Before the Beyonder could process this, Mazinger tackled her. Ace, Astra, Luxion, and Sigma, who had caught on to what was happening, launched an attack against her. Astra like V3 kicked the Eva and the other three fired their beams just as Mazinger let go.

Mark.09 exploded just as Unit-01 entered the portal.

The portal closed.

The Beyonder survived this ordeal though her Eva was wrecked. She didn't make any other moves, stunned by what just happened.

She offered to grant his wish, but she was spurned.

Even so, his friends who wished to save him managed to disrupt her, the Beyonder's barrier.

And then they tricked her a second time, and they were able to bring him home in spite of herself.

'Is this the true power of a wish?'

The Beyonder let out a crazed laugh, not even registering the defeat of her army.

Shinji Ikari sat on a train station seat.

Can I sit here?" A woman asked.

"Sure, go ahead," Shinji answered.

The woman sat right beside him.

"Waiting for someone?"

Shinji shrugged. "I guess you could say that."

The woman admired the sights. It was a simple train station, but compared to how things used to be, it's very uplifting. "So things worked out well in this world?"

"I suppose. You were right. It was really hard, but I managed to pull through."

Cable smiled. "I'm glad to hear that."

There was a brief pause before Cable said, "there's been a reform in the TVA. A lot of things have changed. Most importantly, no more unnecessary pruning."

"That's good," said Shinji. "You know, I kept thinking about how no one would remember what I've done, but I'm okay with that as long as I saved the world. I hope the others feel that way too. Even if their stories didn't end the way that they wanted to, they still matter to me."

"I'm sure they do," assured Cable. "For what it's worth, I'm sure they're happy in that Battleworld."

Shinji was surprised to hear that. "Really? They all moved there?"

Cable shrugged. "What can you say? It's a perfectly habitable planet. It would be a waste to just leave it be. Although a society of mostly Reis is kinda weird."

Another pause, and then Shinji asked, "about that pruning thing. Does that mean I can leave this world with no issue?"

"Yeah, but why would you want to leave?"

"Hey, after learning about the multiverse, it just doesn't feel right to live a domestic life here. And besides, I've done all that I could for this world, I would love to explore new ones. That is, if you don't mind the company.

Cable was surprised by the offer, but decided to be coy. "I doubt that person you're waiting for wouldn't like it if you just disappear."

"What do you mean? She's already here."

Cable was confused as she looked around and found no signs of Mari, only to slowly dawn on her what Shinji meant.

Cable's cheeks turned red. "H-Huh?"

"Hey, I bet traveling the multiverse by yourself is lonely. I would love to join you."

"Well sure, but are you sure?" fumbled Cable. Shinji chuckled.

"Yeah, I'm sure."

[Ending Song: BTS - Spring Day - Japanese ver.]

Cable managed to collect herself and was now grinning wide. "Alright then. Let's get out of here!"

Cable activated her goober, summoning a portal. She reached out her hand which Shinji took, and the two of them ran straight to the portal.

A/N: And so ends the first installment of Superwomen of Eva Multiverse. Was it anticlimactic? I don't know, you decide. But either way, defeating the Beyonder was never an option. Only outsmarting her. Was the ending abrupt? Sure, but I designed it so that it would be a Gainax ending for someone unfamiliar with Rebuild and I hope you don't mind. Do Shinji and Cable end up together? Who knows?

This was a short but fun ride, and I hope you enjoyed it too. This was also difficult since this is for the most part, an original story, but I'm glad that I managed to finish it. This is also the first non-oneshot that I finished so that's nice.

Author0fntent, I hope you find and appreciate that small reference to Tribute.

Also, yes, you heard that right. This is now a part of a bigger project, Superwomen of Eva Multiverse! I've decided I'm not yet done with SoE, and so I now have plans for a second series centered on the multiverse of SoE (specifically the Marvel side like this one). I shall call it…

Superwomen of Eva: What If…?

.

.

.

In the vast multiverse, there are infinite possibilities resulting from multiple choices, which creates branching timelines, like this one born of one simple question:

What If… Ritsuko Akagi Became the She-Hulk?

This will take a while to make since I do have other projects, but keep an eye on it.

Thank you everyone!
