Alright, there might be angst in this like the last one, apparently. Also, sorry if the last one was sad.I'm sometimes numb to sad stuff but also sometimes very sensitive to it. I have no idea how that works, I'm just here to write Bowuigi fanfiction because there isn't enough of it!
Bowser roamed the silent halls of his castle, somehow not making a sound as he did. Nothing but stillness and the chirps of crickets filled the air.
He reached two humongous wooden doors and turned the brass handle of said door. There was a click to indicate the door was opened. He took this as a sign to push the door so he could enter.
Once in the chamber, he pulled the door closed behind him, as quiet as a mouse when he did.
The room fitted the size of its doors; It was humongous. Filled to the brim with many books stored on shelves and dim lighting so that people could read the books but still feel comfortable in the dark.
This room was so big,it had a bifurcated staircase. And right at the bottom in the middle sat a grand fireplace built into the cement layout of the staircase.
Infront of the fireplace was a giant, vermilion sofa sat upon a fancy, crimson, circular carpet with a golden trim. A stack of thick, leather-covered books about human history lay on the floor. Clearly someone had read them with how many sticker notes were sticking out of their pages.
Bowser, seemingly drifting, strolled towards the fireplace and picked up two of the six books.
He carried the tomes of ancient anthropology to one of the glide rolling ladders. Then he took a shrinking shroom and gulf it down in a second, without chewing.
Once at the shelf he was looking for, he placed the tomes back on the shelf and went back down for more. The koopa did this for the next four tomes.
After he placed the last book on the shelf, another book caught his attention. It was about pirates and mermaids, as one would assume from a glance of the cover.
The title was "Waves of different tides" and had been read judging by the bookmark sticking out of it. Taking the book down the ladder with him, Bowser strolled towards the fireplace like he did when he entered, seemingly drifting across the room.
Then, after getting comfortable on the carpet by the home of inferno - even though the couch was right there - he flipped to the page the bookmark was on and commenced with his reading.
Captain Blaze - a pirate flamékoopa that looked oddly like Bowser but in pirate dresswear and smaller - never went anywhere without his crew, especially without his quartermaster, Kemak the witted. But,tonight was different.
He left the inn he and his crew were bunking and went for the docks. One would assume he left for something on his ship, but that was far from the case.
He instead went to one of the docks that wasn't occupied with a ship and sat near the edge of it, feet dangling into the water. It seemed like he was expecting someone. "Who?", you might be pondering.Well let's wait and see, shall we?
The sea glistened and sparkled due to the jeweled moon in the navy blue sky.The stars countless and scattered across the sky like tiny bits of a broken wine bottle. The sea stretched out for miles and miles on end, filled with countless of living things in its waters.
Then the captain saw a green, big fish-like tail splash in the distance.A smile crept onto his face as though this was the mysterious who he was waiting for.
He lifted his feet from the water and sat criss-cross.A figure came up from the water, fast like a sailfish. Captain Blaze shielded himself from the water with his hand.
After the splash, he lowered his shield to see the beauty infront of him. It was a merman - think of Luigi as a mermaid for this one - a very beautiful one indeed to Captain Blaze.
The merman shook his head to get rid of excess water in his hair before resting his head on crossed arms, admiring the captain.
"Heya,Captain," he greeted as though they were old friends."Ahoy,Lumeth," the flamékoopa retaliated, gesturing his hand in greeting.
They then sat there, enjoying eachother's company. Captain Blaze took out a can of ale beer and chugged it. Lumeth stared at the drink, seemingly fascinated by it. This caught the koopa's attention.
"Wha'?Ye wants some o' me ale?," the pirate asked, holding out the beer. The merman tilted his head sideways in response. "Is that what it's called? I thought it was beer."
"That's wha' the 'normies' be callin' it," he answered, making quotation marks with his free hand and taking a sip from his can.
"Oh," the fish-tailed man peeped out. He seemed bummed when he did. Silence fell upon them, accompanied by the salty sea scent.
The captain was used to having silence inbetween conversations, but not this long of a pause. Then he remembered...the incident.
About Lumeth's brother and...the kraken.
"Oi,Lumeth," he asked. The merman perked his head up at to look at him. Curious. Captain Blaze took a deep breath in and out before continuing.
"Look,if ye needs a shoulder t' cry on, ye can natter t' me," he stated, holding his arms out to embrace him.
Instead of hugging him,Lumeth carressed the captains face with one hand, pushed himself upwards with the help of the dock, and kissed him on the lips gently. Blaze felt as though he could've sat there for ages, lips connected with Lumeth's. He wished time would stopped at this very second.
He tasted the sea water on Lumeth's soft lips and the human taste that all humans taste like. The mustache of the merman was surprisingly dry and tingled the koopa above his upper lip.
Deepening the kiss,he held the merman by the waist. His waist was cold and soft, making Captain Blaze want to hold him closer, so he did. This movement made Lumeth wrap his arms around Blaze's neck for stability.
They broke the kiss all too soon, staring into eachother's eyes lovingly.
Bowser shook his head vigorously at the thought of kissing Luigi. Sure his lips would've been soft and gentle like Lumeth's...but he wouldn't. He couldn't if he wanted to anyway. Luigi thought him of a villain.
Everyone did. Maybe...he was a monster. He tried to reassure himself while he put the book back on the shelf that he wasn't. But he still couldn't get the thought out if his head.
Maybe paperwork would keep his mind off things? But he already finished all his paperwork on Wednesday already, and he wouldn't get his next Monday. He didn't feel like reading another book since he just put away one.
The only other option he thought of doing was sleeping, which wouldn't help since he would be thinking about it all night and make it worse.
And he couldn't go to Kamek or his kids for help because he was supposed to be their king and a king needed to be strong for their people. Imagine what they would think if he couldn't handle his own emotions?
They would definitely think he was a weakling, a burden, a viperling! (viperling is the koopa way of saying "manchild") Even if they didn't, one of the guards could hear and rumors about their king being a wimp would break out.
He couldn't tell anybody. He wouldn't tell anybody.
except...
Luigi...
He hadn't checked on him since this morning so it would be best if he checked on him now, just to see if he was alright.
It wasn't like he had a major crush on the human or anything, no it was more of him wanting to be friends. Or, at least, he hoped that was the case.
Bowser finally reached the door of Luigi's room. He had been standing there for a few moments.
Not knowing why, he felt like he shouldn't go in, even though he wanted to. No. He needed to.
"Owww," he rubbed his head, trying to ease his pain. The human turned his head towards the door, probably to find out who entered his room without knocking.
And they meet up in secret and...kiss...
But would be found out by the one whose in charge of both sides and they would be separated from eachother...and soon find a way to be with one another again...
This started to sound like "Waves of Different Tides" now. Like...what he wanted with...Luigi..
Wow, he was tired today. He should've gotten rest instead of talking to the human. Welp, he was here now and he wasn't going to change his mind.
With little effort required, he turned the handle and pushed the door open.
Eep!
Luigi fell onto the ground with a thud from the desk. Clearly he wasn't expecting anyone to visit him that late at night.
"Owww," he rubbed his head, trying to ease his pain. The human turned his head towards the door, probably to find out who entered his room without knocking.
When Bowser saw the human's blue eyes, he felt his stomach flutter and do a 180 for reasons he couldn't understand. Luigi looked... beautiful, like the valleys beyond the mountain peaks filled with flowers and lakes aplenty at sunset.
Maybe it was because of the dress he was wearing reminded him of Peach? But he didn't feel that way about Penelope. He only saw her as a friend after all.
And, why hadn't the guards given him the extra clothes the human left in the castle for no reason? Why did the human leave extra pairs of clothes in his brother's enemy's castle. No, his enemy's castle.
"Oh!Hi Bowser!," the human waved at him like an old friend, a sweet smile on his face. Bowser blushed a little at the mention of his name by the voice of this very human.
He stared into the human's baby blue eyes that had a twinkle in them. Then his eyes moved down towards the human's soft lips.
Luigi, confused, asked him something that he didn't hear, but saw his lips moving.
Bowser snapped out of his staring daze. "I'm sorry, but could you repeat that Lu?," he asked politely, scratching the back of his neck.
Luigi blushed redder than his brother's cap at this nickname.Bowser, without hesitation, briskly strolled towards the lad. The king bent down and gently put his hand on the human's forehead.
"This cold must be real bad since you have a fever this high! I definitely underestimated how bad this cold was!," he concluded with a caring tone. Then he picked Luigi up bridle-style again, pulled back the blanket and placed him back in his bed.
Sure, he was the a giant flamékoopa who was the king of the koopas, but he was sensitive when it came to emotions, believe it or not.
He never really showed that side of him except for a select few.So why...why was he so comfortable sharing this side with Luigi?
Luigi was his enemy's brother for goodness sake! Imagine what Kamek would say! And how was he going to explain to him why he was showing Luigi of all people his soft side, when he wouldn't show it to some of his kids!
Maybe he was overexaggerating. After all, it was only a few seconds of showing the human his emotional side.
Bowser went to the bathroom to get something. The bathroom was over half the size of the bedroom but he would surely find what he was looking for...Hopefully.
When he entered, we see that there is a hot tub with two windows with wooden frames above it, a double sink with a mirror above each sink and a cabinet underneath the sink, and a toilet which didn't fit the theme of the bathroom (gross).
Lanterns were the only source of light in the room, with a lit candle in each of them. Moonlight seeped in through the window and dimly illuminated a bit of the bathroom.
Immediately he went to a bigger cupboard that was hidden to our view. It was the same colour as the wall; Ocean green.
Inside the cupboard were towels, medicine, extra toothpaste, extra soap, and other things you would put in a cupboard.
He pulled out a plain teal facecloth and ran it under cold water in the sink. Then he strolled towards the now in bed Luigi who was sitting instead of laying down.
"You really should lie down and rest if you wanna get better, Lu," Bowser advised, applying the wet cloth on Luigi's forehead.
Bowser pushed Luigi gently and slowly onto the bed.The lad complied without any trouble, like they did this every day.
When Bowser tried to pull his hand away, the green lad grabbed it."W-wait!," Luigi managed to squeak out, tightening his grip a bit.
Bowser waited for Luigi to say something, getting closer to the human to show that he was listening.
"Um.Wh-why did you c-call me L-lu?D-don't get me wr-wrong!I do like the nick-nickname! In fact, I think it's v-very c-c-cute!I-it's just that you didn't con-console me f-first.B-but you can ca-call me that i-if you want!," Luigi's stutter was very visible in this moment.
Bowser tilted his head to show his confusion. "But," he shifted his position so that he could put his folded arms onto the side of the human's bed, holding onto his hand now. He didn't know why, but it just felt right for it to be in his grasp.
"You didn't say anything about it the first time I called you Lu," he pointed out, examining the hand he was holding. He realized what he was doing and let it go, a little flushed in the face.
What am I doing? Why am I being so flustered? It's just Luigi for stars sake!Not-!
"When did you call me Lu?,"the green lad inquired, bringing Bowser out of his train of thought.
"When you first called me 'Bowsy', of course," Bowser responded, acting like he wasn't distracted. He didn't need to look up to see the beauty. No!What was he thinking calling his enemy's brother a beauty?
He didn't need to look up to see Luigi was embarrassed because he could tell from the soft, flustered and stuttered oh that left Luigi's lips.
Bowser, not knowing why, smiled bemusedly in response to this."I must've been a little... distracted to realize what you called me," the lad concluded, scratching his chin in thought with an awkward smile on his face.
Another moment of silence fell between them, but it felt different this time.It felt... comforting,in a weird but somehow normal way.
The koopa king gazed at the human, who was now sitting with his knees hugged to his chest and staring out the window.
Bowser, without thinking, pulled Luigi by the ankle nearest to him until he was lying down on the bed."Wak!,"the poor guy peeped out with surprise in his tone when his head hit the pillow.
The Koopa King leaned towards Luigi's ear with his hand on the chest of the human,"You need to rest,Lu.And you need to lay down to do so," he whispered his concern.
The red on Luigi's face grew, now reaching the tips of his ears. The fire-breathing reptile realized what he was doing and pulled his hand away, a small blush forming on his muzzle.
"Sorry about that," he apologized, scratching the side of his neck.
Now I'm wondering if he was red because he was sick or if he was blushing.Wait.No!He wouldn't blush just because of a simple nickname.Sure he was easy to make blush but it wasn't that easy!
Now that he thought about it, Daisy called him that one time and he didn't blush like he did when Bowser called him Lu, if that was the case, of course.
So, the conclusion was that it was a fever. Nothing else. Yeah, definitely nothing else at all.Nope.Just a fever.Definitely nothing else...
Why does it sound like I'm denying something?Maybe it's just me overthinking stuff.I mean, I overthought stuff when I was a teenager so maybe that's habit's just coming back.
His thoughts were interrupted by snoring from the plumber in the dress, his chest moving up and down slowly as he breathed.
A small smile crept onto the great redhead's face.He grabbed the top edge of the pulled back blanket and covered the lad in a dress with it.
No wonder people thought he was adorable. Bowser sighed contemptuously before reaching into his shell and pulling out a pocket watch.
1 o'clock in the morning.
While it was late, he didn't feel tired.Maybe it was because he was almost a full grown flamékoopa and they didn't need to sleep every night, opting to sleep every 3 or 4 days instead.
So, he decided to just walk around the castle and try to think of something to do. Hopefully he wouldn't wake up anyone during his stroll, especially not Kamek.
Kamek, though doesn't seem like he can, can throw a shoe at what would be impossible distances. And he was one of the Elite and Powerful Magikoopas in Manitari so he wasn't a force you would want to mess with.
He arrived at a gigantic,old-looking vault that somehow didn't rust.Chains prevented easy access into the space chamber unless one put in the correct code in the combination padlock bringing together the chains.
The sound of a faint click signalled to Bowser to open the door of the enormous vault. Now, you would expect there to be endless riches filling the vault to the brim with bright glimmers and gleams of gold glory.
But you would be wrong, for in this vault were no riches nor glory, but ripped kitchen rags and dusty antiques of Earthian technology, such as palatial paintings and magnificent mirrors.
This, dear curious bibliophile, is King Bowser the fifth's decoy vault in case of a robber were to somehow got into the castle. The vault with treasures enclosed in its walls was deep underground, at the end of a series of secret tunnels that only royal blood knew the way to get to the treasure vault.
But that's not important for this story.
After he opened the decoy vault he stepped inside, making sure to put something between the door and the wall of the vault. The royal member trekked what seemed to be a long hallway of what only a simpleton would call boring stuff.
He stopped at the very back of the space chamber where a few black garment-storage bags lay on the ground, a few with green hangers and the rest with red hangers.
He picked up one with a green hanger and left the chamber of mysterious items, moving the thing he placed in the vault entrance before closing it.
Light from the window seeped into the temporary room of Luigi, showing that it was daytime already.
The piranha plant chomped at a small flipbug that jumped onto the window sill.Luigi stirred a little, groaning from the light that intruded his eyes.
He rolled over but couldn't fall back to sleep, so he sat up, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Then he noticed something black near the end of the bed with a note placed on top of it.
He maneuvered his way to the letter to read it.It was written in a beautiful, neat cursive but had a burn mark in the corner of it.
Dear Luigi,
I thought you wouldn't want to spend the rest of your stay in a princess dress so I brought you something you left at my castle. And may I ask for you to not leave any more of your things at my castle?I already have enough of things to worry about!
Yours truly,
Bowser~
The note read. The fact that Bowser wrote in beautiful and perfect cursive surprised Luigi alot. He blushed at the end part a little.
But he was also curious on what would be inside this mysterious black package. So he pulled it towards himself and opened it.
Inside was one of his extra outfits that he thought was incinerated by Bowser during one of their battles. He didn't think that Bowser of all people would keep it safe.
Hopping out of bed, he took the extra pair of his jean overalls and green long sleeve polo shirt to the bathroom, surprised to see the bathroom and get flashbacks of the last resort.
Shockingly, his clothing wasn't that badly damaged, only a few burn marks and a stain of a suspicious red substance which he hoped was ketchup.
He put the spare gown he was wearing on the coat hanger and hung it on one of the headboard tower thingies. He didn't know what it was called, just that it kinda looked like a tower.
The lad now in his signature green attire climbed back into the bed with his knees hugged against his chest, a smile plastered across his face as he let out a satisfied sigh.
Maybe the next few days weren't going to be bad after all, but rather...pleasant.
And that's a wrap for this chapter! If you couldn't tell, I'm planning on switching the main POV to either Bowser or Luigi every few chapters. The previous cover of this fanfic was just a placeholder so that I could have time to draw an actually cover. I didn't own the previous image nor whatever else is associated with that drawing. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
Ciao!
