PLEASE READ THIS NOTE! I don't mind if you skip the chapters notes after that, but there are a few things here that I think are important :)

Like many authors before me, I got inspired by a bunch of fics that I've read over the years:
• The time travel idea comes from Rewriting Destiny by WaitForTheSnitch
• The need to write a fic with a Hermione/Severus pairing comes from Fate Set Right by mltrefry
• The idea of a Petunia-centric fic comes from Petunia Evans, Tomb Raider by Starfox5
• The idea of a Slytherin Petunia comes from Yesterday is Tomorrow (everything is connected) by IAM_Kneazle (writing_as_tracey), writing_as_tracey
• The concepts of Fouding House comes from Harry Potter and the Perversion of Purity by ACI100 and the rest from The Prince of Slytherin by TheSinister_Man
• The idea of the different social classes and different level of Magic comes from New Blood by artemisgirl
Please check those amazing works!

Status of the fic: incomplete, posting sporadically. I've tried to write ahead but I work better when I've begun to post, so here it is. You've been warned :D

Warnings:
• Be sure to check the tags regularly! I add a lot of them and they are important, especially when it comes to triggers.
• There will be no smut. I'm not very fond of it and I wouldn't know how to write it. There will be romance, but this won't be my focus.
• Please note that I am French and therefore prone to mistakes (typically: "de" instead of "the", "were" instead of "where" and some more creative ones like Wizenmagot, a mix between English and French!). This fic isn't beta-read so, if you see anything that should be corrected, please tell me in the comments and I will fix it as soon as humanly possible!
• Chapters' length will vary, I try to stop at the moment that feels right and, if it's two pages shorter than the one before, I don't care.
• I'm writing this fic for fun. I love the Snamione pairing, love Time-travel fix-it fics, and I've had this idea for a while. Since I haven't been able to find something akin to Fate Set Right, I decided to write my own fic based on a few ideas that I hope will make it different from the others.
• The age of some characters has been change to better fit the plot. I'll put everything at the beginning of a new schoolyear to make sure you understand. For the rest, I try to be as accurate as possible to history with the Evans family and the world I've created (to be posted one day)
• If, for any reason, you don't like this fic and would like to tell me, please do! Just make sure to explain why you don't like it instead of letting a comment that sounds like an insult. For example: "the age gap between X and Y makes me unconfortable" instead of "X is a pervert for going out with Y, I don't understand why people write things like that." Or "I've noted that the descriptions are scarce and like when there are more details, maybe you could try to add more when there's a scene that's important?" instead of "this is badly written, even my child could do better".

About the names & the characters:
o Petunia Selena (Moon) Evans
o Lily Helen (Light) Evans
o Rose Hermione (Messenger) Evans
• Petunia and Rose might start using their second names, both for obvious reasons. I'm unsure at the time, but I thought I should warn you anyway. I'm sure you won't have any issue with Hermione not being called Rose, but it might be a bit harder for Petunia!
• Please remember that the characters are young. I try to write the dialogue that way and I hope it works.

Translation: you can translate this work (just not in French since I'll do it one day), but please ask me first and give me the link so that I can add it to the original work :)

Thank you for reading this note, I hope you enjoy those first two chapters :)

19th September, 2000

From behind the safety of her heavy curtains, the woman observed the street meticulously for several minutes, looking for something out of the ordinary. Outside, the perfectly symmetrical rows of houses – surprisingly untouched by the events of the last two years – was almost enough to give her a feeling of normalcy, however fleeting. Eventually, when she was sure that there was no immediate danger, the woman left her spot and made her way back to the sole armchair in the living room. Carefully, she put the gun she had been carrying on the small table on her left and sank into the armchair, allowing herself to relax a bit.

This game had been going on for hours, now, ever since she had awoken in the middle of the night with the feeling that something big was about to happen. It had kept her awake until dawn and had bothered her for the major part of the day, to the point that she had decided to postpone her journey. It wasn't the first time that her instinct warned her, after all, and she had learned the hard way not to ignore it. But she was tired of waiting and, when she was finally convinced than nothing was going to happen in the immediate future, she decided that it was high time to eat something. She would need the strength for whatever was coming, after all.

She had left her backpack against the wall and she took it as she left the armchair, making her way to the kitchen. The stove was working, which was a nice surprise, so she decided that a fancy dinner was in order and she opened a tin of spaghetti Bolognese that had been following her since the start of her journey. Soon, the smell of food began to fill the air, and the woman rummaged in her bag and took out a tablespoon that had seen better days before starting to eat hungrily, only stopping for a quick sip of water from her bottle between two bites of food. It had been a few days since she had been under a roof and felt safe enough to take the time to eat something warm, and she was glad to know that she would be sleeping in a real bed tonight as well. Being on the road alone was hard, but it was still a better option than staying in her house with memories of her former life, thinking over and over of what had happened that day.

It wasn't her fault, she knew. Ever since the Revelation Day, the country had fallen into a severe crisis. Civil war had broken out, and the Others had slowly but surely gained ground against those they saw as their enemies. At first, her people had tried to resist, and a lot of the Others themselves had come to their aid, but it soon became clear that they weren't powerful enough against the army of the Unnamed. Her house had been one of the last that had been protected by the Others in the county, but one day they hadn't showed up to check on her family and she had understood that it would soon be over for her as well. She had been wondering for a while whether or not they should try to rally one of the last free territories when the Incident had happened and after that… Well, after that, she had not had the choice anymore.

Checking one last time the contents of the tin to see if there weren't any leftovers, the woman glanced at the window and, seeing that the sun was now high in the sky, decided to go rest until sunset. The weather was still mild enough to travel at night, and she would be able to cover a long distance since the nights were getting longer now that September had arrived. She wiped her spoon and her pan with a kitchen towel that she had found in a drawer – she would need the water until she could find more in the countryside – and, after checking every room in the house to make sure that there was nothing of use, headed for the master bedroom. There was small layer of dust on the bed, but it was clean enough and the blanket reminded her of the one her mother had gifted her on her wedding day. She blocked the door with a chair that she had taken from the kitchen and sank into the bed, wishing she could stay here for ever. Then, like every day since she had left her home, she took the small pendant that she was wearing and opened it, staring at the picture inside it for couple of minutes. Slowly, her entire body began to shake, and she let out a gut-wrenching wail before breaking into tears.

This game had been going on four hours, and the feeling that something was about to happen soon had been getting stronger and stronger as the hours had passed. It wasn't the first time that her instinct warned her that something was about to happen, and she knew better than to ignore the feeling that has been plaguing her lately.

In case you haven't understood, this is a post Deathly Hallows work, where both Voldemort (the Unnamed) and Harry survived and the war hasn't ended. The status was broken and the Death Eaters are targeting everyone. The war is still only in the UK but the rest of the world knows about wizards and Voldemort plans to conquer Europe next as soon as Harry is dead.
