Smallville: Lex & Lana fanfiction. Some spoilers are ahead.

Chapter 1

It was a rainy, windy night when Lana entered the castle. She clutched the Talon folder in her hand, as she quickly made her way into the hallways, instinctively remembering the way to get to Lex's office as if it was second nature. Despite the rain, Lana was determined to see Lex tonight. She wasn't quiet sure why, but she felt it deep inside her body – the need to see Lex, to be in his presence. It should be like any usual night she would come to see Lex, but tonight, for some strange reason – she felt nervous, as if something in the air tonight was going to be different.

The door to Lex's office was wide open, and she paused by the doorway. Lex was sitting at his desk, head down. He was engrossed with the paper in his hand, while his other hand held a pen in motion. His blue button up was already halfway open in the top, showing a hint of well-defined muscled chest. A brandy on an expensive glass was already on his desk, and Lana could tell he was halfway through. Like any other red blooded female in Smallville, she had always taken notice on how ridiculously handsome Lex was. From his lean, muscular body, and well defined high cheek bones, to his piercing blue eyes, there was no denying that he is heart-stopping gorgeous. But it truly wasn't the only thing that drove Lana to toss and turn at night, secretly fantasizing about how it would feel like to touch him, it was also his aura. The charming, enigmatic way he presented himself, his intelligence and worldly experience. The way he was so insanely naturally charismatic with his sexy trademark smile and low husky voice. Lana was sure he had the capability to convince everyone that he is the best thing that every walked in this planet, and it frightened and intrigued her all at once.

Deep down, Lana knew she had spent years since the day he came to her in the stables denying her growing desire for him. For a while, she convinced herself that it was a harmless school girl crush. She was younger than him – of course it would be natural to have a crush on the older, more experienced guy. At the young age of 23, Lex had already been named one of the most powerful entrepreneur, and most eligible bachelor by the media, it was of course only natural to be insanely attracted to him. Lana tried though her best to hide it, and she was pretty sure she was doing a good job by distracting herself with boys her age. She even had serious relationships with Whitney and Clark, but yet throughout these times, the desire she had towards Lex grew stronger, as if repressing the feeling only it made it grow bigger and unavoidable.

The fascination she had for him might have even been gone back years before the stables, when she did officially meet Lex, but she can't quiet pinpoint when the attraction started. She was only 10 and had seen him in a not so presentable position with another girl in a pool. She always thought about his piercing blue eyes setting on her, while she stood shocked, clutching her coloring book at the edge of the pool. He had looked at her surprised, and pulled away from the girl in the pool completely. They stood staring at each other in shock, then he opened his mouth, as if about to say something. Lana however didn't give him a chance, she turned on her heel quickly and ran as fast as she could. She could hear him calling, but she didn't stop. Since then, she never forgot about the boy with the haunting, piercing blue eyes.

As years gone by, she often thought about him, and wondered what it was like for that girl in the pool. And then he came back into her life… He appeared in the stables, after she had finished riding her horse through the meadows. She recognized him immediately and could have sworn the world stopped spinning as soon as she laid her eyes on him again. Since then it had been a whirlwind of suppressing this insane magnetic force she had towards him. When Lex had taken up on her proposition and idea for the Talon, she thought it would get easier, maybe her silly school girl crush would have gone away then – but instead, seeing him frequently only added fuel to the fire, making her desire for him unabated and dangerously close to exposure.

Lana watched him silently, lost in her own thoughts, until Lex looked up from his papers. Their eyes meet, and for a moment, the world felt like it stopped spinning. Electricity coursed throughout the room, hanging in every thread and corner. Lana swallowed, heart beating fast, and then Lex smiled, his signature half smirk that made her knees weak.

"Lana," He says her name, and her heart skipped again. There was always something about the way he said her name, that made her stomach do flip flops. She smiles as he stands up, walking towards her with such ease and sway, his hands comfortably resting on his pockets. He stands tall, and she has to lean her head back to look up at him.

"Am I too late?" She asks, big green eyes looking up at him in earnest.

Lex shakes his head, "For you - Never." He smirks charmingly, and Lana inwardly swooned, the insides of her stomach doing flip flops. She looks away and tries to distract herself, going straight into business, as she strolls over to the couches by the fireplace and sits down. She opens the folder and starts taking out papers. "I got held up in the Talon, the machine broke down in the middle of our closing, and I didn't want to leave it like that overnight, otherwise I would have to wake up earlier in the morning and try to get if fixed before we open." She knew she was babbling, and Lex could probably care less, but she was trying to calm her beating heart into a normal rhythm – and she was sure Lex could hear it.

Lana felt the couch shift a little, and she looked sideways and saw that Lex had seated himself next to her. She didn't know it was possible, but her heart was now doing palpitations. Lex had always sat across from her, but tonight – he sat next to her, his knees brushing against her leg. She turned to him, almost instinctively, and inwardly gasped. He was so sitting so close next to her, that she could see the different colors of his irises, deep blue with a hint of gray. He smelled like a combination of musk and brandy. Lana gulped, their eyes meeting, as she watched the shadows of the fire dance across his face, illuminating his high cheek bones and strong jaw. She could see the side of his jaw pulse slightly, and Lana wildly thought he might be nervous. But as quickly as the thought came, it went away – because he looked confident, his arms casually resting on the back cushions behind her. In fact, he looked unperturbed, as if sitting so close to her was an everyday thing.

He smirks, as if noticing her nervousness. "It's okay, Lana. I'm probably going to be up all night."

Lana smiled. Lex always seemed to be so forgiving with her, and Lana wasn't sure if Lex knew how much it warmed her heart. They sat close to each other and began to pour over the Talon numbers. As the night drew on, food was brought over to them, and they ate together in close proximity, neither one shifting away from the other, as their legs brushed against each other. Like any usual night, they shifted from discussing the Talon's expenses, to talking about their own lives - Lex talked about the new penthouse he bought in Metropolis, Lana talking about her preparation for the upcoming riding competition. By the end of their last paperwork, it was close to midnight, and their conversation was slowing down.

Lana closed the folder and peered over at Lex. "Do you really have to stay up all night?" She asked.

Lex nodded. "My father is away in Italy, and of course he left all the unfinished business to me."

Lana nodded emphatically, she knew Lex's father always made a habit of making things harder for Lex. She often wondered which was worse, not being able to grow up with parents, or having a father as dysfunctional as Lex's father was. Either way, she always felt like she could relate to Lex in that way.

"It must be difficult, to have a father like him." Lana says carefully. She knew the subject of his father was a sensitive topic.

For a moment, there was silence, as the fire crackled next to them. Then Lex met her eyes, and then slightly shook his head. "Ever since my mother died..." His voice trailed off. "It hasn't been the same."

Lana's ears perked up. Lex has never talked about his mother.

Lex's eyes had a distant look in his face, as he turns away and looks at the fireplace. "She was what kept us glued together. Then she was gone and everything was cold." He chuckled bitterly again. "The day she died, my father told me he didn't want to see me cry - he said crying was a waste of time for a Luthor."

At that very moment, Lana's heart was caught in her throat. Tears threatened her eyes. "I'm so sorry, Lex. I wish I could have taken the pain away." Lana says in a soft whisper, and without thinking, she reaches up and cups Lex's face with her hand.

The touch immediately sent electricity through her veins, and Lana paused, her breath caught in her throat, as Lex turned to her, their eyes meeting. The look in Lex's face made her heart beat so fast, she thought he could hear it. She could see desire in his eyes, the look of passion so undeniable, it sent shivers down her spine. His blue eyes sparkled with intensity, and she gulped – waiting in anticipation for the next move.

With his eyes locked into hers, he gently takes her hand that was cupping his face and held it in place, then he turns his lips and softly kisses the palm of her hand. Lana gasps, her breath caught in her throat, as she stares at Lex, her body igniting. It was so tender and yet so extremely sexy, that Lana could feel her head spinning, her knees shaking.

Then slowly and carefully, Lex leaned down. Lana could swear her heart was beating out of her chest, as she felt his face linger above hers, so close their noses almost touching. For a minute, she felt as though time froze still once again, and only the rain pelting against the roof of the mansion and the wind angrily howling outside could be heard. Then she felt his breath on her lips, and before she could even process it, he pressed his lips gently against hers. The kiss was brief and gentle and he pulled away slightly, lips still close to hers, allowing what just happened to linger around them. Then within seconds, he kissed her again. This time, he kissed her deeply, his tongue delving into her mouth to meet hers, with so much passion and fervent need that Lana could swear she was floating high up in the air. It was the most exhilarating feeling she ever felt, as electricity flowed between them like lightning caught in a bottle.

Lana was kissing Lex, and she couldn't believe it. In a desperate need to be closer to him, she wrapped her arms around his neck, practically on his lap, as she deepens the kiss. She could feel his surprise and a slight loss of composure, but he immediately responded by pulling her legs apart to sit on his lap. She was now straddling Lex's lap, kissing him with her tongue colliding against his, and she couldn't believe it. It almost felt like it was a dream, but it was real. So real. His hands pressing the small of her back, the taste of his lips, the smell of him all around her – this was definitely real.

Without thinking, Lana instinctively grinded her hips against his, causing Lex to groan in between kisses. She had no idea why she did that, but it happened – and immediately, she felt his erection poke in between their clothes. Lana gasped in surprise. This was the first time she ever felt a man's erection against her body and the fear almost overtook her, if it wasn't for her burning lust for Lex. She has never done this with any of the guys she dated, the furthest she went with any of them was a kiss, and it never progressed after that. But here she was, grinding her hips against Lex Luthor, kissing him passionately, falling in a whirlwind of passion - unable to control her desire...
