Epilogue
Riza twirled the pen in her hand as she listened to Winry on the other end of the phone. She was, for once, by herself in the office as Roy and the others had gone to the shooting range. She'd taken the opportunity to get some wedding planning done as they were quickly running out of time. About a month after the Anti-Fraternization law had been abolished, Roy had proposed as perfectly as she'd always wanted. They'd been spending a lazy Saturday in bed when he'd just slid the ring, a simple gold band with a few diamonds embedded in it, on her finger.
"Thanks Winry," Riza said into the receiver as the door opened to Roy and the others jovially ribbing each other as they came in. "Send me your measurements whenever you're ready. My tailor said she only needs a few weeks' notice since it's just you and Rebecca. Alright, talk to you soon."
"She said yes I assume?" Roy asked as he stopped at her side to kiss the top of her head.
"Yes. She said as long as the dress is flowy," Riza replied with a smirk.
"Flowy? That word sounds weird coming from you," Havoc teased as he sank into his desk chair.
"Why flowy though?" Fuery asked.
"She's pregnant with their second and will be about four months along," Riza explained. "Rebecca's just excited to be wearing something other than a uniform so she won't mind."
"Ed's getting ahead of us again," Breda said with a shake of his head. "You guys better be ready to catch up quick."
"Hell yea! I can't wait for that," Havoc exclaimed with a beaming smile. Havoc also couldn't wait to see Rebecca in a dress even if it was flowy. They'd begun dating shortly after the anti-frat law had been abolished and according to their continued girl nights, Rebecca had told Riza it was going very well.
Riza chuckled as she subtly glanced at Roy who was standing in the doorway to his office smiling back. The others would probably be shocked to know they were already on their way to catching up. It had been a complete accident, but one that they both were extremely happy about. They'd only just learned two weeks ago. It had been a surreal experience standing in their bathroom, Roy's arms wrapped around her to hold her safely against his chest, watching the pregnancy test process.
Luckily, none of the others saw their exchange so their secret was safe for a while longer. They'd decided to keep it a secret as long as they could until they had a chance to tell her grandfather.
"Someday you'll get the chance to spoil our child Uncle Havoc," Roy teased with a smile. He headed for his office with Riza on his heels with two files in her hand. She closed the door behind her and dropped the files on the chair in front of his desk. With a content sigh she walked into his outstretched arms as he leaned against the front of his desk. He chuckled and pressed a kiss to her forehead as his hand rubbed against her still flat stomach. "How are you feeling?"
"Queasy, but nothing I can't handle," She replied. "I'm afraid I'll give us away with how tired I am most likely instead of morning sickness."
"I don't know how much longer I can hold it in myself," He said. He tipped her chin up with a gentle finger and kissed her mouth. "I love you very much Riza Hawkeye."
"And I love you Roy Mustang," She smiled up at him with adoration in her eyes. She put her hand over his that still rested on her stomach. "We love you. And we always will."
Roy would go on to accidentally spill the secret just a week later much to their teams' excitement. And three months later, with her stomach only just starting to round, they said "I do" in front of a small group of their family under a large tree in Resembool where it all had started. They were finally able to live the life they'd both yearned for together.
