Lab
Sammy and Brooklynn still stood in front of the destroyed cryogenic chamber in utter shock.
That monster, was supposed to be kept in there, and now it's on the loose.
"We gotta warn the others." Brooklynn said with a strong urgency in her voice.
This left no room for discussion as the two girls immediately ran outside.
As they got outside they attempt to get in their gyrospehere but they were forced to stop on a dime as they felt the ground shake beneath them and heard the roar of many dinosaurs.
It was a stampede, and it was heading right for them.
Brooklynn and Sammy let out screams as they now had no choice, they turned and ran to ensure that they did not get trampled.
As the two girls ran frantically they ducked behind a rock to get out of the
way of the stampede.
They then notice their gyrospehere had rolled down hill with them, but the stampeding dinosaurs rammed into the gyrospehere causing it to go spinning out of control and away from Brooklyn and Sammy, much to their dismay.
Their attention was grabbed by the pained roar of a Brachiosaurus nearby.
The creature seemed to be in excruciating pain as it fell to the ground with a loud ground shaking thud.
"Come on!" Brooklynn yelled in a hushed tone as she got up and ran off to warn the others.
Sammy hesitated as she sat behind the rock shuddering at the chaos that had befallen the island.
Brooklynn realizing that Sammy had not moved turned around.
"Sammy! Sammy come o-ahh!" Brooklynn and Sammy were both forced to yelp and duck as a Sinoceratops crashed into the rock they were hiding behind.
The creature laid on the ground as the girls watched it's lifeless form.
This was all they needed to see, they both got up and began running again.
They then slid into a ditch to avoid some stray dinosaurs that were running behind them.
They were in the clear now, so they just ran with all their might to make it to the others and warn them.
Camp
The others were not having as much of a hassle as Brooklynn and Sammy were, in fact, they almost seemed to be relaxing.
Ali and Darius both stood on the terrace as they watched the fog rolling through the forest.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Ali questioned as Darius nodded.
Darius then took a deep breath as he turned around.
Ali followed him with a raised eyebrow as he noticed Darius picking up a walkie talkie and his field guide.
Darius then began flipping through the journal as he stumbled upon a picture of his father.
Seeing this picture really made Darius emotional.
"You miss him, huh?" Ali said causing Darius to jump slightly.
Darius then regains his composure as he smiled at the photo.
"You have no idea." Darius said as Ali put an arm around his shoulder.
"I'm sure he was a great guy." Ali praised Darius' father.
"Yea, he really was." Darius said as the two shared a smile.
They suddenly heard Kenji's voice as he made his way to the top of the ladder.
"We still got a another twelve hours until the patch on the boat is ship shape but, it tots dry to me." Kenji informed them.
"Well if it's tots dry to you that's definitely accurate, right?" Ali questioned him with a deadpanned expression.
"Yup, I really wanted to poke it, but I didn't, restraint yo." Kenji boasted.
Kenji goes quiet as he realized Ali did not make a comment, he usually always did.
Kenji followed Ali's gaze as he noticed he was looking at Darius, who was still looking at the photo depressingly.
"Yo D, you good?" Ali questioned as they awaited a response.
"Hm? Oh, nothing, I always meant to check out a Gallimimus for my...book, but never got around to it." Darius said as he began picking stuff up and putting it in his bag.
"Go now, Brooklynn and Sammy are off investigating a mystery, Yas is on a run, and Ben's probably somewhere being weird." Kenji said.
"I would have used different wording, but he has a point, besides, we got twelve hours, go find that Gallimimus bro." Ali encouraged him with a chuckle.
"Nah, I gotta get the supplies collected for the trip to Costa Rica." Darius said.
"We can do it for you." Kenji said gesturing to himself and Ali.
"Are you guys sure? I mean there's a lot to-" Darius is cutoff by Ali.
"Yes, Darius, don't worry about us man, just go do what you have to do, everyone deserves a break, even Kenji." Ali said with a chuckle.
"A-Alright if you're sure-" Darius is now cutoff by Kenji.
"Dude, positive, go find your gallilio." Kenji said as he grabbed Darius' shoulder.
"Awesome! Thanks you guys, this really means a lot to me." Darius said as he handed them the bags he had.
Darius then takes his walkie out of one of the bags.
"Um, make sure you pack everything we need, food, water, berries, and uh, I'll be on channel six in case of emergency!" Darius shouted as he climbed down the ladder.
"An emergency packing supplies? Brosef, we got this." Kenji boasted.
"I don't know Kenji, we've managed to get in trouble in much easier situations before." Ali pointed out.
"Dude, relax, all we have to do is pack some supplies, quit stressing." Kenji said as he put a can into the bag.
"See? Easy." Kenji said as if he did all of the packing already.
Ali simply sighs as he held his nose and shook his head.
"Bye guys! Thanks again!" Darius shouted as he walked through the gate and went off on his adventure.
"Alright, first off we're assigning tasks." Ali began.
"I'm ready for anything." Kenji said with a smirk.
"Okay...you'll be collecting supplies, canned food, and water, Yas will help you when she gets back, got it?" Ali questioned Kenji.
"Gotcha, but what are you gonna do?" Kenji asked.
"I'm gonna go get some berries, those cans of food can only sustain us for so long, berries are better for long term sustenance." Ali said as he got two bags to carry the fruits.
"Alright, set to go." Ali said as he descended down the ladder.
"Good luck Kenji! You're in charge!" Ali shouted as he walked off to find berries.
"In charge? Kenji is in charge! Kenji is in charge, K-Kenji is in charg-" Kenji's celebration is cutoff as Ben sneaks up on him unannounced.
"What is going on?" Ben asked causing Kenji to jump slightly before regaining his composure.
"Ahem! I need you to pack, uh, toilet paper." Kenji said regally.
Ben deadpanned at him. "Toilet paper, seriously?" Ben questioned.
"We're gonna need it on the way to Costa Rica, and, I'm in charge, Ali and Darius trust me." Kenji boasted.
Ben was not even a tiny bit impressed by this.
"They do, huh? Fine then." Was all Ben had to say as he walked off to pack the toilet paper.
"Kenji is in charge, Ben is not in charge!" Kenji began chanting again.
Darius
Darius was tracking the Gallimimus herd as he watched them majestically run past him.
They were brown medium sized dinosaurs with bird shaped heads, almost like a chicken, luckily they were herbivores.
Darius watched in awe as he sketches the dinosaurs running by.
Things become even better when a Gallimimus stopped to graze, giving Darius an even closer look at the majestic creature.
The Gallimimus looked at Darius, as did he, the creature then walked towards Darius curiously as Darius smiled at it.
Darius looked at it eagerly, he was finally going to get a close up look.
Or so he thought as his walkie talkie went off causing a piercing noise which spooked the Gallimimus as it screeched and ran off.
"Captain Kenj to...Dariusaurus and... Mr. Capalot." Kenji's voice said over the radio.
"Mr. Capalot is here, over." Came the voice of Ali.
"Go for Dariusaurus." Darius said into his walkie.
"You guys seriously should change your call signs." Kenji said as Darius almost dropped his book causing him to yelp.
"Just tell us what you want already!" Ali exclaimed.
"Well, not to give anything away, but I already did one thing, and it was flawless." Kenji boasted.
"Very happy to hear that." Darius whispered as he got off the rock.
"Are you sure it was one thing, or one PART of a thing?" Ali questioned Kenji.
"I'm sure it was a thing, don't worry, I will do you guys proud." Kenji vowed.
"Kenji, you have to actually do the stuff and not just talk about it in order to do us proud." Darius reprimanded him.
After that it was nothing but static on Kenji's end.
"Um, Kenji, are we still here?" Ali questioned as Kenji scrambled.
"Right, yes, talk time is over, 10-4." Kenji said as he cut the line.
Darius sighed exasperatedly. "So how's the berry picking going?" Darius questioned Ali.
"It's going pretty good, something feels off though, I'll figure it out later, anyways, how's your Gallimimus hunt?" Ali questioned him.
"It was going pretty good, until Kenji decided to, well you know, be Kenji." Darius said as they both shared a laugh.
"Alright, I'll leave you to it, Mr. Capalot out." Ali said as he cut his line.
Darius takes a deep breath as he resumes his chase with the Gallimimus herd.
Ali
Ali was walking through the jungle as he gathered different berries for them to eat.
He had taken a wooden plank with him just incase.
"Hm, I wonder why it's so quiet today, not to complain or anything, but, more dinosaurs are usually around, and now I'm talking to myself, great." Ali said as he picked a few red berries.
'Yas loves the red ones, no! No! Why do I keep thinking about her? This is so weird.' Ali mentally berates himself.
Suddenly a loud groan caught his attention as his head snapped towards the sound.
The creature sounded like it was in pain.
Ali walked over to the sound as he hid behind a rock.
He poked his head out slowly to see what it was, it was just a Parasaurolophus fortunately, but something was evidently wrong with it.
Ali walked over slowly as he examined the animal.
He scanned it for any wounds as he did not notice anything too concerning.
His eyes then lowered to it's stomach as he noticed two quills sticking out of it.
"What the hell?" Ali questioned as he had never seen something like this before.
Ali knew he had to do something to help this poor animal.
"Okay, I'm sorry girl, but this is gonna hurt like hell." Ali said quietly as he ripped the quills from the Parasaurolophus' stomach as the poor dinosaur lets out a pained roar but eventually lays it's head down in exhaustion.
Ali felt it still breathing, so he knew it was alive, but it was resting for now.
"I should probably ask Darius about this, I've never heard of something like this before." Ali said as he began pressing his walkie talkie.
It would not turn on however which puzzled him slightly before realization struck.
"Great, low battery, well I guess I better hurry and get back, whatever did this is probably still lurking around here." Ali said as he picked up the berries and the wooden plank and began making his way back to camp, albeit this time with way more caution.
Camp
Kenji was packing supplies, well more so unnecessary stuff he felt that was important.
"Hair gel." Kenji said to himself as he dropped a can of hair gel into the bag.
"What else?" Kenji asked himself.
Kenji then gets an idea as he walked over to the terrace.
A blue bag was stuck in floor as he struggled relentlessly to get it out.
What Kenji failed to realize was, Yasmina was standing right behind him, watching him make a fool of himself.
"Uh, I thought the designated bathroom area was that way." Yasmina quipped.
"Ha! Ha! I'm in charge of packing essentials for the boat, while Darius goes off with his gallilios or whatever, and Ali is off berry picking! So, I'm gonna do the best job, anyone's ever see-ack!" Kenji exclaimed as he finally got the bag out, but his momentum caused him to fall backwards flat onto his back.
The bag also fell onto him as the contents inside scattered around him.
Yasmina stood over him now, watching him struggle was pretty funny.
"You uh, sure about that?" Yasmina questioned with a chuckle.
Kenji muttered something before getting up.
"Seems like just yesterday, you were shirking responsibility to do nothing, instead of you know, the bare minimum, Ali really changed you huh?" Yasmina questioned him.
"Nah, maybe I'm just a new man." Kenji boasted as Yasmina crossed her arms.
"Want some help new man?" Yasmina asked.
"Yes please." Kenji said while looking down.
Yasmina chuckled at his expense as she walked behind him to help.
"Ben, should be helping me but, I sent him to get T.P. like an hour ago and he hasn't come back." Kenji informed her as Yasmina looked at him as if he grew two heads.
"An hour? To just get something from over there?" Yasmina questions.
"Oh! Do you think something happened to him?" Kenji asked.
"On this island? Uh, yea, yea I think it's a possibility." Yasmina said as they both ran off to search for Ben.
Darius
Darius had been slowly approaching a grazing Gallimimus as he wore a huge grin.
As Darius got closer he decided to pick out some grass to feed the animal.
The Gallimimus' herd runs off as it looked back at them for a second.
It eventually turns back to Darius as it made it's way towards him.
Darius grins widely as the Gallimimus began eating the grass in his hands, almost like a prehistoric petting zoo.
"Good girl, you were my dad's favorite, you know? Sorry I didn't make it here sooner, I've been a little busy." Darius apologized to the dinosaur with a smile.
After the Gallimimus finished eating the grass, Darius goes to pet it's snout.
Suddenly his walkie talkie gives feedback with a loud screech as the Gallimimus is once again startled as it ran away much to Darius' dismay.
"Darius! Darius! Darius!" Exclaimed the voice of Kenji over the radio as Darius groaned and picked up the walkie.
"What's up captain Kenj?" Darius questioned.
"Nothing much, how's it with you?" Kenji asked shakily.
"Good." Darius said awkwardly.
"Cool, cool, cool, everything's great with me, couldn't be any better, but hypothetically, what would you do if, uh, a totally capable but scrawny, dinosaur, kinda went missing?" Kenji questioned.
"Ben! Ben!" Exclaimed the voice of Yasmina, who was searching for Ben.
Kenji fumbles the walkie talkie as he scrambled.
"What?" Darius asked incredulously.
"Nothing, don't worry about it, I got this." Kenji said reassuringly.
Darius sighed at his behavior. "Kenji, if this is too much for you to handle, just say that and I'll start heading back." Darius said.
"No, no, don't worry, I got it." Kenji said proudly.
"Are you sure?" Darius asked incredulously.
"Absolutely, one hundred percent." Kenji said as he palmed his own face.
"Okay, fine then, by the way, have you heard from Ali? It's not like him to go quiet for this long." Darius said.
"No, I actually haven't seen him since he left to get berries an hour and a half ago, but I bet he's fine, you know he loves his berries, he probably got carried away pickin' them." Kenji said with a chuckle.
"Right...if you say so, but, we've clearly established that I'm gonna stay here, and you're gonna pack, so I should probably let you go then, so you can focus on that." Darius said in a hushed tone.
"Yea, yea, okay but, one last thing, hello? Darius?" Kenji questioned as he realized he got no response.
Darius had purposely ignored him as he turned the walkie off.
Darius then walked off as he got back to his Gallimimus trailing.
Camp
Kenji was still trying to talk to Darius, unaware to the fact Darius had cut the line.
"Darius!? D? D-boy? Darius...Dariusaurus? You know what, I got this." Kenji said as he gave up.
"I got this." Kenji reminded himself as he walked over to Yasmina.
"What did he say?" Yasmina questioned.
"Wasn't much help, and we can't even talk to Ali because he won't answer his walkie for some reason." Kenji said with a shrug.
Yasmina's eyes widened in utter shock as she grabbed Kenji's shoulders roughly.
"So, let me get this straight, you lost Ben, and now you tell me, Ali has not answered his walkie after going out into dinosaur island almost two hours ago?" Yasmina questioned him in a biting tone.
Kenji's eyes then widened in realization, this situation was getting even worse.
Ali
Ali was still making his way to the camp, the berries had slowed him down considerably.
"Okay, maybe I shouldn't have filled the bags this much." Ali reprimanded himself.
Ali jumps as he hears a dinosaur screech.
He narrowed his eyes as he crept over to the sound.
Luckily as he peered over he realized it was only a herd of Gallimimuses, thank God.
"What the hell are they running from?" Ali questioned himself as he noticed they were running from something.
He decided to go in the opposite direction of where they were running to see what the culprit was.
Ali then noticed...Darius? How did they manage to cross paths, oh well, no sense in questioning it.
Ali then began making his way to Darius, he did not want to yell just incase that would attract a predator.
Suddenly Ali hears a creak as he looks to the top of the tree Darius was standing in front of had a carcass hanging from it.
The carcass was about to fall right on top of Darius.
Ali went in to full blown alert mode as he dropped the berries, spilling a few in the process.
"Darius!" Ali exclaimed as he tackled Darius out of the way, the carcass fell right to the ground with a loud thud.
The two boys, now on the floor, looked at the corpse as they breathed heavily.
"Thank you, how did you find me?" Darius questioned.
"I didn't, technically the Gallimimuses led me here, thank them." Ali said with a shrug.
Suddenly Ali was stiff as a board as he focused on the tree.
Darius noticed this as he turned to the tree aswell.
"What is it?" Darius asked.
"Those quills, I saw them just now, when I was still picking berries." Ali said with an uneasy tone.
"It was like unlike anything I've ever seen before, the Parasaurolophus that was on the wrong end of them was...suffering, the sight was disgusting." Ali said solemnly.
Darius then began flipping through his book to find anything related to this.
"I've never heard of a dinosaur that used quills like this, we should probably go back to camp and warn the others." Darius said as Ali nodded his head.
The two began walking back to camp.
Kenji and Yasmina
Kenji and Yasmina were searching for Ben first as they stood at the top of a ledge.
"Where's that little..." Kenji trails off as they noticed a Ankylosaurus herd, and Ben and Bumpy were close to it.
"Worth a shot." Yasmina said as they went after Ben and Bumpy.
"Watch it!" Kenji exclaimed as they maneuvered through the large Ankylosaurus herd.
"Excuse me..." Yasmina said as they got through the dino traffic.
Yasmina and Kenji finally got through as they looked at Ben with irate glares.
They then walked up to him as he was tending to Bumpy.
"Ben, what the hell man?" Kenji questioned angrily as Ben shushed him.
"Don't shush me, I told you to get toilet paper." Kenji said as he crossed his arms.
"I did, then I came to check on her, it's lunch time for ole bumper car, don't want her getting hangry around her new friends." Ben reasoned as he fed Bumpy.
Kenji glared at him as Yasmina gave him a deadpanned gaze.
"What's the big deal?" Ben asked.
"The big deal, is you're not respecting the captain's hat." Kenji said as he pointed to his head.
"Kinda messed up that you took off and didn't tell anyone where you were going." Yasmina said in a neutral tone.
"I didn't realize I needed to ask permission to live my life." Ben said as he stood up.
"It's not about that, it's about being a team player, have you learned nothing from Ali's old man speeches? Darius asked us to get supplies for everyone, and instead, we had to go looking for you, are you part of this team or not?" Kenji questioned him.
"Okay, sheesh, I'm part of the team, for the next couple of the days anyways." Ben muttered the last part but it was still audible enough for them to hear.
"What do you mean?" Yasmina asked him.
"After we go home, it's not like anyone of us will ever see eachother again." Ben said negatively as he walked away.
Yasmina and Kenji looked at eachother before turning around and running after him.
"Sure we will." Yasmina combats his statement.
"Well minus you, Ali, Brooklynn, and Darius who live relatively close to eachother, we're all way too spread out, Kenji lives in California, I live in Virginia, and Sammy lives in Texas." Ben began.
"Factor in time, money, life...you get the idea." Ben said as he walked ahead.
Ben had definitely got to Yasmina, but Kenji was still positive.
"No, we're all gonna hang out, even if I have to travel across country to mess with Ali and Yas, I'm definitely doing that, so quit being sad Ben, captain's orders." Kenji said firmly as they kept walking.
Yasmina fell back a bit as she crossed her arms.
It did not make things any better as a storm was starting up.
Ali and Darius
The two had stopped to take a break as they had ran to an open area in the jungle.
"Okay, let's relax for a bit." Ali said as Darius nodded.
"This place is creepy." Darius said as they looked around.
"You can say that again." Ali said as they heard a crackle causing them to jump with sharp gasps.
"What the he-ack!" Ali yelps as Brooklynn and Sammy emerged out of the bushes and collided with them.
Brooklynn and Sammy realized who they had ran into as they helped the boys stand.
"Oh my God." Sammy said as they were still on edge.
The two then began rambling about the Scorpios Rex videos they had saw.
They were talking way too fast and all at once causing Darius and Ali to lose track.
"Woah, woah, slow down, what is going on?" Darius questioned them.
Brooklynn and Sammy both took deep breaths.
"We found the lab Dr. Wu was using to make the Indominus Rex, and other hybrid dinosaurs..." Brooklynn said the last part in a hushed tone.
Ali and Darius both look at eachother with widened eyes as they tried to process the information.
They turned back to Brooklynn and Sammy, still in shock.
"So, Wu made yet another monster?" Ali questioned as the girls nodded solemnly.
"He called it the Scorpios Rex." Brooklynn informed them.
"And it's loose on the island." Sammy said.
"If you think the Indominus was bad..." Brooklynn began.
"This one is way more unstable." Sammy finished.
"This is why the dinosaurs have been acting so strange." Darius said to himself.
"So that's where the quills came from." Ali said to Darius who nodded.
"We can't wait any longer, we have to leave the island, now!" Brooklynn exclaimed as they all turned and ran to camp with no second thought.
Camp
Kenji, Yasmina, and Ben who was riding Bumpy had made it back to camp.
Kenji realized Ali and Darius were still not back yet as they walked through the gate.
"They're not back yet, we still have time." Kenji announced.
"Considering Ali still hasn't said anything, is that really a good thing?" Ben questioned as Kenji winced at Yasmina's glare.
Kenji shook it off as he walked over to the ladder.
"Ali will be fine, he has to be." Kenji mentally stated.
"We still need food and water, and I guess some junk for bumper car." Kenji listed off.
"Kenji!" Exclaimed the voice of Darius over the walkie talkie.
Kenji picked the walkie talkie up as he used it.
"Uh, that's captain Kenji, you were the one who wanted to use code names." Kenji said.
"Kenji! We don't have time for this, we have to leave this island, ASAP!" Exclaimed the voice of Ali as Yasmina sighed in relief, atleast now they knew he was alright.
"What? What are you talking about?" Kenji asked incredulously.
"There's another hybrid dinosaur!" Shouted the voice of Brooklynn.
"Like the Indominus! But worst!" Sammy shouted.
"H-How? I don't understand." Yasmina asked in confusion.
"We don't have time!" Darius shouted.
"Grab all of the supplies you gathered! And meet us at the boat, anything is better than nothing!" Ali ordered.
"Uh, about the supplies..." Kenji said shakily.
"Kenji!" Darius shouted as he was now beginning to lose his cool.
"I-I was too busy handling things." Kenji said shakily.
"We need those supplies, we can't make it to Costa Rica without them." Ali said.
"I know, I-I got this." Kenji sputtered.
Kenji then turns to Ben and Yasmina with a determined gaze as they awaited his word.
"Yas will go ahead to the boat and get it ready for launch, Ben and I will pack up the essentials, Brooklynn, Ali, Darius, and Sammy swing by and help us carry it." Kenji stated firmly.
"Copy that, see you soon." Darius said as they cut the walkie line.
Everyone scattered as they began doing their parts of the plan.
Kenji and Ben went up the ladder as they began packing bags of essentials.
Yasmina
Yasmina had left the compound as she ran towards the boat.
She ran hard through the forest, there was no time to waste.
As Yasmina made it to the docks she stopped immediately as she realized a major issue.
"Oh no." Yasmina said solemnly as she noticed the sea was too rough to use the boat.
The storm had made the water levels rise and the waves were way too strong.
Yasmina turned around as she ran back to warn the others.
Camp
Brooklynn, Ali, Darius, and Sammy make it back to the camp as they panted heavily from the nonstop running.
"We're here!" Darius announced.
"How can we help?" Ali asked as they entered the gate.
"Here!" Ben shouted as he rolled two bottles of water down the slide.
Ali catches one bottle of water as he handed it to Darius.
Ali catches the second bottle as the two walk over to the entrance.
Kenji then began dropping bags of supplies to Sammy and Brooklynn who caught them and held them on their arms.
"Is this it?" Brooklynn asked incredulously.
Before Kenji could answer the group's attention is turned to Yasmina who had ran through the gate.
"What's wrong Yas? I thought you were supposed to be getting the boat ready." Ali said.
"That's the thing, the surf is way too intense, boat's already taking on water, no way to cast out until the seas calm down." Yasmina informed them as they gave her fearful looks.
"So that means, we're stuck, with the Scorpious out there?" Samny questioned in fear as Ben and Kenji came down to them.
"Uh, avoiding killer dinos, is kind of our thing." Kenji said shakily.
"Not like this killer dino." Brooklynn said.
"We've only made it this far because we know how normal dinosaurs behave, the Scorpious is just as unnatural as the Indominus, if not more so." Ali said solemnly.
"With the Scorpious Rex on a rampage, all bets are off." Darius said as he hung his head low.
"Our chances of survival just dropped, exponentially." Ali said as he sighed.
Kenji walked over to them and put his hands on their respective shoulders.
"Don't beat yourselves up, there's nothing else anyone could have done." Kenji said.
Darius took his hand off of his shoulder as he rounded on Kenji and pointed at him.
"You could have done the one thing I told you to do, then we could have made it to the boat." Darius said bitingly as Kenji flinched at his glare.
"Chill, D, even if he had got the supplies packed the storm is still too rough, you can't pin all the blame on him." Ali said in defense of Kenji.
"No, he said he had everything handled!" Darius shouted.
"I did, I'm sorry, I didn't anticipate the new franken-dino, and Ben of the jungle here decided to run off into the wild without saying anything." Kenji said as he gestured to Ben.
"Hey! I didn't ask you to follow me, and even still, you could've did more than grab your shirt and hair gel." Ben stated with a glare which Kenji returned.
"Hey, that's not fair, he was worried about you." Yasmina defended Kenji.
"Okay, okay, what's important right now is that we come up with a plan." Brooklynn said trying to be the voice of reason.
"Brook is right, fighting isn't going to get us anywhere, we need to think of something, and fast." Ali said with a determined expression.
"Well, while we wait for the storm to pass, we should try our best to shore up the perimeter, just incase." Darius as the group minus Kenji began moving.
"We could use some of the rubble to fortify the fence, maybe." Kenji suggested to Darius and Ali who were still relatively close to him.
"Good idea Kenji." Ali said as he walked ahead.
"Yea, good idea." Darius said with way less enthusiasm as he too walked up ahead.
Night
It was now night time as the camp was now dark, the only thing giving them light was the moon.
They had all worked together to put up different pieces of debris to fortify the gate.
Sammy, Ali, and Yasmina grunted as they put a giant wooden plank up against the gate.
"Phew, that was tough." Ali said as he wiped his brow.
Yasmina said nothing as she went back to work.
Sammy chuckled at his antics. "We make the best team." Sammy said gleefully.
"Yea, for now." Yasmina said in a hushed tone puzzling both Sammy and Ali.
"For now? What do you mean?" Sammy questioned.
Ali realized this was a conversation that they needed to have, so he hung back a bit and continued working, he could still hear them though.
Yasmina stopped what she was doing to turn to Sammy.
"Be real, Sammy, this friendship, has an expiration date." Yasmina said with no remorse causing Ali to wince.
"What? That's not true." Sammy denied.
"Yes it is, open your eyes, we have nothing in common, other than running for our lives, once you take that away, what do we have, nothing." Yasmina said as she held her head down.
"You don't mean that, you're my best friend, once we get hom-" Sammy is cutoff by Yasmina.
"IF we get home, and even if we do survive all of this, you'll go back to Texas and I'll go back to New York, face facts Sammy." Yasmina said as she picked up some debris.
"We're not best friends, we never were." Yasmina said bluntly.
Sammy felt as if someone just wrenched her heart out of her body, she simply walked away sadly.
Yasmina looked at her from her peripheral view, the sight was sad.
Ali walked up to Sammy as he tried to cheer her up.
"Come on Sammy, it's alright." Ali said as he touched her shoulder, only for her to wrench her arm out of his grip immediately.
"Don't touch me." Sammy said as she was on the verge of tears.
If Ali said that didn't hurt him atleast a bit, he'd be lying.
"Look, Sammy, you know how Yas is, she always says things she doesn't mean, she definitely didn't mean that either, I mean come on, you were the one who saved her from loneliness." Ali said as Sammy looked up a bit.
"You just have to give her time, okay?" Ali questioned as Sammy nodded sniffling a bit.
"Promise me you'll stop crying." Ali said as held out his pinky playfully.
Sammy lets out a soft chuckle as they locked pinkies.
"Thank you, Ali." Sammy said as her spirits were lifted.
"Anytime Samster, anytime." Ali said as they got back to work.
Brooklynn was trying to get a tire that was stuck down.
"Ben! Help me with this!" Brooklynn shouted as the jungle boy did just that.
With a leap and a small grunt Ben helped her get the tire down as they left it there.
Brooklynn then picks up a wooden beam as she lifts it.
This causes the car's horn to go off which spooks Kenji causing him to fall to the ground from the slide.
"Oops, sorry!" Brooklynn apologized.
"Wait a minute, if the horn went off, that car has power." Ali deducted as Darius, Kenji, and Ali looked at eachother.
"You guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Darius asked.
"Zap zap?" Kenji questioned incredulously.
"Yes Kenji, zap zap." Ali said with a smirk as the two boys began taking the battery out of the car.
Brooklynn watched as they tried to get it out.
They grunted in struggle as they put the battery on the floor.
"Now all we need is some wires." Ali informed them.
As they found some wires they hooked it up to the battery and connected it to the gate.
"Time for the test." Kenji said as he tossed a stick at the fence.
The electricity crackled as the stick sparked.
"Boom, DIY electric fence." Brooklynn said with a smirk.
Darius, Kenji, and Ali looked at her incredulously.
Darius raises the walkie talkie to his face playfully.
"Dariusaurus to Captain Kenji and Mr. Capalot." Darius said playfully.
"This is Captain Kenji/Mr. Capalot reporting." Ali and Kenji said respectively.
"Good job, we make a great team." Darius said as the older boys smiled at him.
Suddenly their attention is turned to the loud groans of Bumpy as they walked over to the fence to get a closer look.
Bumpy was on the other side, along with Ben who was trying to calm down the frantic dinosaur.
"Woah! Woah!" Ben exclaimed as the Ankylosaurus kept bucking around wildly.
"What's up with Bumpy?" Ali questioned only to receive shrugs from Darius and Kenji.
Suddenly Bumpy darts away from Ben who tried to go after her.
"Bumpy!" Ben shouted as he stopped and watched his dearest friend run away from him.
Suddenly a loud never before heard screech floats through the atmosphere as the campers all gasped in fear.
"Go! Go!" Ali shouted as they all climbed up the ladder with weapons in hand.
They all picked different hiding spots as they poked their heads out slightly.
Brooklynn was with Darius as she moved closer to him instinctively in fear.
Another screech is heard causing them all to gasp once more.
Yasmina huddles up to Ali as they both felt eachother shuddering.
Kenji and Sammy held hands tightly as they waited to see whatever made that noise.
Ben was scared but also a bit down trodden at Bumpy's actions.
Suddenly lightning strikes as the storm began getting even worse.
Suddenly they hear dinosaurs roaring in agony as something was attacking them.
The beast was as black as ash with a white underbelly, it had a large head with a mouth full of sharp teeth and a nasty attitude to match.
It's eyes were crimson red and it sported a spiked/quilled tail.
The creature had very unnatural looking limbs, as it's arms and legs were as skinny as skeleton bones.
The claws on this creature were definitely sharp enough to disembowel a Triceratops or two.
This, was the Scorpious Rex, the epitome of a monster.
As the rain began to intensify, their makeshift electric fence began sparking as electricity ran along the gates.
This gains the Scorpious Rex's attention as it turned to their direction and began walking towards them.
The kids all watched in fear as the Scorpious Rex got closer.
The beast stomped closer and closer as the rain drops kept slapping it's scales.
Yasmina did not know why, but this thing gave her more of a fright than any other dinosaur she has seen in person.
She shut her eyes tight as she held onto Ali tightly.
Brooklynn breathed heavily as she tried to calm herself.
"Don't move, hopefully it won't see us." Ali whispers to the others.
Little did he know, the Scorpious Rex had infared vision, it literally sees their body heat.
Luckily the beast did not focus on their direction, it instead opted to inspect the gate.
The Scorpious gets too close to the gate as it recieves a nasty shock causing it to jump back and screech in pain.
The Scorpious gets upset as it charges the gate causing a giant electricity spike as it roared in pain.
This motion causes the kids to yelp in fear, which forces the Scorpious to hear them.
They all accidentally jumped out of hiding as the Scorpious looks in their direction.
The monster notices their body heat as it growled lowly.
The Scorpious Rex then stood on it's hind legs as it lets out a blood curdling roar which causes the kids to once again yelp and jump back.
This causes them to close their eyes tightly.
Suddenly the creature stopped screeching as they opened their eyes again.
Much to their shock, the Scorpious was no longer in front of them.
"Where did it go?" Darius questioned the rest of the group.
"I don't see it!" Ben exclaimed.
"It could be anywhere." Ali said as they all looked around frantically.
Suddenly a low growl is heard causing them to turn their attention to a tree behind them.
Out came the Scorpious as it looked at them, hatred evident in it's eyes.
The kids all yell out in fear as the Scorpious roars.
"Run!" Ali shouted as they all scattered.
The Scorpious lept onto the platform causing it to shake due to the size of the dinosaur.
It tries to bite Darius but half of it's body was still hanging outside of the terrace.
Ali helps Darius up as the Scorpious slams it's left arm down.
The vibration causes Ben to fall to the ground.
The Scorpious then swipes at Yasmina as she was forced to dodge the attack and fall to the ground with a scream as she landed with a loud thud.
"Yas!" Ali shouted, however there was no time as he and the others were forced to avoid the monster's attacks.
The Scorpious then swipes some crates into Kenji causing him to fall to the ground as well.
Darius, Ali, Sammy, and Brooklynn were the only ones left at the top.
Suddenly a tree was struck by lightning causing it to catch fire.
This catches the Scorpious' attention as it was almost, entranced by the fire.
"Come on." Ali said in a hushed tone as they slowly went down the slide while the monster was distracted.
"Yasmina." Said Ali as he helped her up with an audible groan from the track star.
"I'm okay." Yasmina reassured him.
"Kenji, estás bien?" Sammy questioned in Spanish causing Kenji to look at her in confusion.
"Sorry, I speak Spanish when I'm scared." Sammy apologized.
Suddenly their moment of calmness was finished as the fire from the tree goes out, the Scorpious was no longer distracted.
The kids realize this as they frantically run towards the gate.
The Scorpious jumps in between Sammy and the rest of the group as it's tail slaps her to the ground unintentionally.
Sammy hits the ground with a thud as she cried out in pain.
As the other half of the group ran away from the monster they were immediately cornered by their own electric fence.
Ali grabs Ben to stop him from running into the fence.
They all turn around and faced the Scorpious Rex.
Ali and Darius stood in front of the others as they looked death in the face as they both wore fearful expression.
The Scorpious roared loudly into the group's faces as they shuddered in fear, saliva flew out of the beast's mouth.
Suddenly a loud sound is heard in the distance drawing the creature's attention.
Even though it had the opening to end them, the Scorpious screeched and then leaped over the fence, running into the jungle after whatever made that sound.
The kids all visibly relaxed as the rain poured on.
"Why did it leave?" Yasmina questioned them.
"Not sure, maybe it wanted something else more than us?" Darius suggested.
"Wow, don't know whether to feel relieved or disrespected right now." Ali said incredulously.
"That thing was-" Sammy is cutoff as Yasmina, Ali, and Darius all gasped in shock.
"Sammy, are you okay?" Yasmina questioned in fear.
They had noticed three quills sticking out of Sammy's lower abdomen.
"That Parasaurolophus, it was suffering because of these same quills." Ali said as he loathed the memory of that suffering creature.
The others noticed now aswell as they all ran over frantically.
"Sammy!" Kenji exclaimed in fear as he ran up to her.
"Relax, I feel fi-woah." Sammy's vision began to blur.
Sammy found it hard to stand as she eventually gave in and simply collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
"Sammy!" Exclaimed the voice of Yasmina as it echoed to Sammy.
