Jungle
Yasmina, Ali, and Darius had ran away from the area.
They were reluctant to do so but they had no choice.
"Any sign of them?" Yasmina shouted.
"Not yet!" Darius shouted back.
"Just keep moving! If we get caught there's no way we can save Brooklynn!" Ali shouted as they ran through the jungle.
"Faster! Faster!" Yasmina shouted as they moved even quicker.
Brooklynn
Hawkes bursts through the door as he essentially throws Brooklynn out in front of Wu and the other mercenaries.
Wu instantly recognized her. "You...you and the other campers, you never made it off the island." Wu stated incredulously.
Brooklynn looked at him with a deep frown.
"Oh you know, we just happen to like death and destructio-ugh!" She exclaimed as Hawkes grabbed her arm roughly.
He then dragged her over to one of his men.
"Hate to break up this reunion but...her friends took the laptop, watch her." Hawkes ordered to the mercenary as he nodded.
He is followed by Reed as they go after the other campers.
"Yas is pretty much the fastest girl on the planet, Ali doesn't know the meaning of give up, and Darius is a pro at avoiding dinos, trust me, they're long gone by now." Brooklynn boasted to the other mercenary and Wu.
"Not with Hawkes on their tail, they won't get far." The mercenary responded.
Jungle
The three were still running as they panted heavily.
Ali and Yasmina jumped over a fallen tree as Darius crouched under it.
They each turn around as they noticed flashlights behind them.
"We gotta hide!" Ali shouted in a hushed tone as they sped up until they noticed a large tree.
Hawkes and Reed crouched and turned off their lights as Reed aimed his gun.
Hawkes noticed the kids heat signatures with his night vision binoculars and nodded as Reed pulled the trigger and fired a blind shot.
Darius and Yasmina dove behind the tree as they covered their ears from the sound of the shot.
Ali didn't know what hit him, but it did not feel good...it felt as though something ripped right through his chest.
He knew the bullet had hit him, but he couldn't yell out, that would surely alert the mercenaries to their position.
He found it hard to keep his eyes open and he definitely felt his body weakening.
But maybe it was his adrenaline or determination but he just wasn't going to collaspe here.
He clutched the wound as he tried to stop the blood from coming out, he then crouched with Darius and Yasmina as he groaned slightly.
"I know you can hear me! That was a warning shot...and Reed doesn't miss twice." Hawkes said as he failed to realize they did in fact hit someone due to the darkness.
Darius and Yasmina's eyes widened in fear as they breathed heavily.
Ali couldn't give a reaction to that due to the wound he just got.
"Leave the laptop there, and no one gets hurt." Hawkes threatened.
'Kinda too late for that asshole.' Ali mentally cursed him.
"I won't come any closer, you have my word." Hawkes said as he motioned Reed to advance them.
Reed got closer and closer to his targets as he prepared to corner them.
He jumped out of the bush with a smirk as he aimed his gun at the...Baryonxes?
Reed screams out in terror as the Baryonxes quickly finished him.
The kids had moved away from the tree due to those same Baryonx who were sleeping there.
They all watched in horror as they ate Reed.
It was still dark so Yasmina and Darius had not realized Ali was essentially bleeding out right now.
"We're heading to the valley to load up the chopper, that gives you about four hours to get there, and bring me that laptop!" Hawkes shouted as he walked away.
"That's the only way you'll ever see your friend again." Hawkes said dismissively as Yasmina and Darius gasped.
Kenji, Sammy, and Ben
They were at the docks after a small trekk.
"No sign of ol' Rexy." Sammy stated.
"Yea but, no sign of our friends either." Ben stated sadly.
"Maybe they're on the boat." Kenji said as he kept hope.
"They can't be..." Sammy said solemnly.
The trio of Darius, Yasmina, and Ali was still running through the jungle hard.
Darius and Yasmina still had not realized Ali was wounded.
But he was starting to falter as he continued clutching his chest.
They came upon the scene as Sammy noticed them.
"Cause they're right here!" Sammy shouted as the two groups noticed eachother.
Everyone minus Ali ran to eachother.
"We thought you left on the chopper." Darius stated cheerily.
"Wait a minute...where's Brooklynn guys?" Ben questioned as he noticed the pinkette was missing.
Darius and Yasmina looked down in sorrow at the question.
"We had to leave he-" Darius was cutoff.
Before the conversation could continue they heard Ali yell out and fall over face first with a thud.
"Ali!" Yasmina shouted as they ran over to his down form and turned him over.
They all gasped in terror as they noticed the gunshot wound and all the blood on Ali's clothing.
Ben, Darius, and Kenji all looked on in shock and terror as Sammy and Yasmina kneeled down to help the allstar.
"No...no this can't be happening right now please no not now." Yasmina started becoming frantic as Ali coughed.
"Apply pressure to the wound Yas!" Sammy shouted as she took Yasmina's hand and put it over the wound as she pressed down.
"Guys! I need you to carry him, the only way we can help him is back at the treehouse." Sammy commanded the other boys.
They all picked Ali up by his different limbs as he groaned.
Yasmina kept pressure on the wound as she tried to bite back her pain.
'Please, don't go out like this.' Yasmina pleaded.
Ali was fading but he refused to simply close his eyes and die here.
"Yas..." He breathed out.
"No, no don't talk you need to save your energy...please." Yasmina hated sounding vulnerable but, as they walked through the jungle to the clubhouse they all knew Ali could lose his life so nobody judged her.
They all knew it was a miracle he even got this far with a wound that deep.
Clubhouse
As they got to the clubhouse the boys all got Ali up to the top level.
They laid him down on couch as Yasmina continued applying pressure to the wound.
"Where is it?!" Sammy questioned herself.
"What are you looking for Sammy?" Kenji questioned her.
"The med kit we found at the clinic, it was the only human one-" Sammy cuts herself off with a gasp.
She notices the med kit on the floor, but it was destroyed.
"The Scorpious...Kenji, if we don't get a med kit, I can't save Ali's life." Sammy revealed as Kenji's eyes widened in shock.
Kenji stands up in that moment. "Then what are we gonna do?" He questioned.
"There are more med kids in Wu's lab but...it's obviously a no go." Darius informed them as he came upon the scene.
"I'm going." Kenji stated simply as he stood up and walked over the couch.
"What?" Sammy shouted.
"You can't go alone!" Darius shouted.
They each followed him as he ignored their protests.
"Where's the med kit?" Yasmina questioned with the tears still welling in her eyes.
"It got destroyed by the Scorpious Rex but...there's more in the lab and I'm going to go get one." Kenji revealed to her.
"What? No! You can't go back there you'll ge-" Kenji cuts her off.
"It doesn't matter, two of our friends lives are on the line, Brooklynn is behind enemy lines and Ali is on the verge of death, don't you want to save them?" Kenji explained as Yasmina looked at Ali with a wary expression.
The allstar looked back at her, his eyes were clearly losing the life in them.
"Okay...fine Kenji, go but...be safe." Yasmina said sincerely as she continued applying pressure to Ali's wound Kenji then walked over to the exit.
"Are you sure about this Kenji?" Darius asked him.
"Yea, I'm not gonna give up on a friend, Ali and Brooklynn put their lives on the line for us, it only makes sense to do this." Kenji stated firmly.
Sammy walked up to him. "Please Kenji, come back safely." Sammy said as she kissed him on the lips swiftly.
Kenji nodded as he ran out of the treehouse and slid down to the ground and then ran into the jungle.
This was a race for Ali's life, literally.
Jungle
Kenji was running hard through the jungle, it felt like his lungs were on fire but he was not stopping until he got to that lab.
It was now later in the morning so it wasn't as dark, daylight was beginning.
Kenji came to a halt as he saw the lab and ran up to the door.
"No guards by the door...these guys are so inconsistent." He whispered as he swiftly entered the building.
Kenji took a deep breath as he thankfully noticed no one.
He then began sneaking around as he searched for the room Darius described.
"It had a medical sign on it." He repeated Darius' words.
He searched until he found a room with the door ripped off.
Kenji noticed the door on the floor as it had the medical sign.
"Yes!" He shouted in a hushed tone.
His excitement was short-lived as he heard footsteps coming in his direction.
'Oh no.' Kenji mentally stated as he ran into the room and hid behind the wall.
The mercenary walked by the room without paying any attention to it, Kenji sighed in thanks.
He then began searching around the room frantically.
"Come on, come on...yes!" Kenji shouted lowly as he picked up a med kit he found under some garbage.
Kenji then snuck out of the room as he tried his best to leave quickly.
Unfortunately he heard footsteps coming his way again as he was put on edge.
"Okay, it's now or never." Kenji said as he prepared to attack the person.
"Haaa!" Kenji exclaimed as he about to punch anyone that was moving.
"Wait! It's me you idiot." Brooklynn said in a hushed tone as Kenji stopped mid punch.
"Brooklynn? Oh you're okay!" Kenji shouted as she shushed him loudly.
"Are you trying to get caught? What are you doing here?" Brooklynn questioned him.
Kenji looked down. "Well I don't know how to put this but...Ali got hurt really bad so I needed to come get this." Kenji said as he showed Brooklynn the med kit which caused her to gasp.
He did not want to tell her Ali got shot and could die, that would break the pinkette.
"Well what are you waiting for? Get out of here! Go help him!" Brooklynn said in a hushed tone.
"Wait, why aren't you coming with me? We both can leave right now." Kenji urged.
"No Kenj, if I leave they'll definitely come searching for me and we'd both be caught immediately, they don't even know you're here, just go Kenji." Brooklynn urged back.
Kenji looked saddened as Brooklynn hugged him.
"I'll be fine Kenji, now g-" Brooklynn was cutoff as they heard voices coming towards them.
"Go!" Brooklynn whispered as Kenji quickly got up and ran out of the building.
He bolted away from the lab and in the direction of the clubhouse.
The African-American mercenary came upon the scene of Brooklynn zipping her jeans up.
"Why did you go off on your own?" The mercenary questioned her irately.
"I had to use the bathroom, didn't know that was any of your business." Brooklynn said with a glare.
"One of us needs to be with you at all times." He pressed her.
"Oh? So you guys aren't just greedy assholes, you're also pedophiles? Not exactly a good combo." Brooklynn said as she walked past him whilst shaking her head.
He growled at her as he followed after her.
Jungle
Kenji ran hard as he came to the opening that led to the clubhouse.
"I'm back!" He shouted as the others heard his voice outside.
Sammy gasped as she went outside and noticed Kenji enter the compound and began climbing up the ladder.
"You hear that Ali? Kenji's back, just hang in there a bit longer." Yasmina pleaded as Ali smiled slightly.
Kenji made his way to the top as he handed the med kit to Sammy.
They both ran over to Ali as Ali smiled at them both.
"Is...Brooklynn...safe?" Ali questioned shakily.
"Yes, for now, they seemed to be getting cranky though." Kenji explained.
"Ali, we have to do this now." Sammy said as she opened the med kit and pulled out a numbing balm.
"Alright Yas, move your hand." Sammy said as Yasmina moved her hand as Sammy made Ali drink the balm.
"You guys might not want to see this part, so you should probably leave." Sammy said as Ben and Kenji nodded and got up.
Yasmina goes to get up but Ali grabbed her arm.
"Stay...please." He pleaded as the trackstar kneeled down.
"Okay, I won't leave your side." Yasmina said with a smile.
"Are you sure you wanna witness this Yas? Bullet removal is kinda hard to watch, especially since this one is only two inches away from his heart." Sammy told her as Yasmina nodded firmly.
Sammy sighed and then began the process of removing the bullet.
This would probably hurt but the balm was starting to take effect as Ali became numb and was succumbing to sleep.
Yasmina still held his hand as he began falling asleep.
Downstairs
Kenji and Ben walked down to where Darius was.
Darius had divised a plan to stop Wu, he was going to download all the information on the laptop with a flash drive and trick Hawkes with the empty laptop.
"Darius." Kenji stated curtly as the dino nerd was brought out of his thoughts.
"Can I talk to you real quick?" He questioned as Darius nodded and followed him a small distance from Ben.
"So...I'm gonna be straight up, why did you leave Brooklynn?" Kenji questioned him.
"I-I didn't leave her, she told us to go-" Darius was cutoff by Kenji.
"That's bull Darius! And you know it, we all agreed to never leave anyone behind, so why did you think it was oka-" Darius cuts Kenji off this time.
"I didn't want to do it!" He shouted as Kenji looked shocked at Darius' angered expression.
"I would never willingly leave Brooklynn behind unless we literally had no other option I...I love her." He admitted as Kenji became even more shocked.
"You have no idea what I felt when I saw the fear in her eyes as that mercenary guy pulled her down fron the grate." Darius continued.
"Now I could lose the girl I love, and one of my brothers is up there with a hole in his chest, this shit hurts Kenji." Darius confessed as tears began flowing out on their own.
Kenji was definitely taken back now, out of everyone, he's never heard Darius swear.
Even Sammy had swore once when she was upset, but Darius literally never cursed.
As Darius let it all out Kenji couldn't help but hug him, the dino nerd needed this so he embraced the hug full heartedly.
"Don't worry...Sammy will save Ali, she's done this typa training with her father." Kenji reassured him.
"And I'm sorry for what I said about Brooklynn, we'll figure it all out." Kenji finished as they separated.
"Thanks Kenj." Darius stated curtly.
"Now, what's your plan to save Brooklynn, I know we're not about to just give the laptop back." Kenji said with a smirk.
Darius wiped his eyes as they walked over to the laptop.
"Ofcourse not, we're gonna download all of the info off the laptop then wipe it and give it them." Darius explained as Ben and Kenji smirked.
"That is actually pretty genius." Ben complimented.
"Good job dino nerd." Kenji complimented him as he ruffled his hair.
Upstairs
An hour had passed as Sammy began finishing up her job.
She already took the bullet out and was finishing up the stitches.
Sammy's clothes and hands were now covered in Ali's blood.
"Okay...that should be good." She informed Yasmina as the trackstar stared at Ali's sleeping form.
"Is he going to be okay?" She questioned Sammy.
"He'll be fine, his breathing is stable." Sammy said as Yasmina sighed in relief.
She hugged the Texan. "Thank you Sammy, you're amazing." She complimented her which caused Sammy to smile bashfully.
"I don't know what to say Yas." Sammy said as they separated.
"How long will he be asleep?" The trackstar questioned Sammy.
"Well he lost a lot of blood, but it usually depends on the person, some people wake up in an hour to two hours, others wake up in six to eight hours, any longer than that and something is wrong." Sammy explained as Yasmina nodded to her.
"Okay, I'll stay by his side until he wakes up then." Yasmina declared.
"Alright, if anything happens call me okay? I'm gonna see what the boys are doing about Brooklynn." Sammy said as she wiped the blood off her arms and hands with a wet cloth.
Her clothes wouldn't be saved, they would be stained until she got a hold of bleach.
Sammy then left Yasmina to tend to the sleeping Ali.
Outside
"Well, I got the bullet out and stitched the wound up." Sammy announced as the boys immediately ran up to her.
"So...he's gonna make it?" Ben questioned.
"Yes." Sammy responded as they all sighed in relief.
"You see that! My girlfriend is a medical genius!" Kenji shouted as he hugged Sammy firmly.
"Aww Kenji, don't flatter me, now...what are we going to do about Brooklynn?" Sammy questioned as Darius began explaining his plan.
Brooklynn
Brooklynn sat in the middle of the hallway with Wu's umbrella as she smacked it against the pipes repeatedly.
Wu grew steadily tired of the loud noises.
"Must you continue doing that?" Wu questioned her.
"Doing what doc? This? This? This?" With every question she struck the pipe with the umbrella.
"It's quite annoying, and it's doctor." Wu corrected her.
Brooklynn then stood up. "I'm sorry, maybe I'll stop doing this." Brooklynn began with a strike.
"Doctor." Another strike.
"When you stop rocking turtle necks and making dino monsters." Brooklynn finished as she continued to hit the pipe even harder now.
Hawkes came upon as he advanced Brooklynn quietly.
He swiftly grabbed the umbrella as she was mid swing.
Brooklynn gasped as she turned to see him glaring at her.
"Reed?" The African-American mercenary questioned as Hawkes shook his head no ans began ushering Brooklynn to a room.
"The laptop?" Wu asked as he followed him.
"Not yet." Hawkes responded as he made Brooklynn sit.
"Get what you need, and head to the chopper no matter what, we stay on mission." Hawkes stated firmly.
Wu walked over to some drawers as he began taking out essentials.
"Pretty sure me and my squad already ruined your little mission." Brooklynn said smugly.
"Heh! Don't worry, they'll bring us the laptop, because if they don't." He began as he walked over to her.
"Things ain't gonna go so well for...pink haired girls around here." Hawkes threatened her.
Brooklynn wasn't about to back down, she slapped the umbrella against a cart as they glared at eachother.
"Okay! You're gonna stop that, right no-" The mercenary was cutoff as a low growl drew their attention.
Brooklynn watched in fear as the mercenaries drew their weapons.
The dinosaur hissed as it came closer to them.
Clubhouse
Yasmina had still been watching Ali sleep, she made it her mission to wait for him to wake up.
She wondered what was going through his mind at this moment.
Ali's mental
Ali breathed heavily as he looked around, he was in a dark room.
"What the hell? Is this the after li-" Ali was cutoff as a blur zooms past him.
"Not quite, this is more like...a reality check." A voice similar to Ali's own said.
"Who are you!?" Ali shouted.
"Heh! That's expected of you, faker." The voice said once more.
"Faker? Why don't you come out and say that to my face?" Ali taunted.
"Very well then." The voice said as the entity stepped out of the shadows.
Ali gasped in shock...it was him, no it couldn't be.
Something was off with this person, the individual had blacked out eyes, as if it was an empty vessel.
"Surprised? Heh, I'm you, well the real you." He stated tauntingly.
"What are you talking about? I'm the only real me." Ali said with a frown.
"Oh really? Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we." The clone said as he lunged and Ali and jabbed into his chest causing the All Star to grunt in pain.
Ali fell through the darkness before finally coming to a stop as he now stood on a street corner.
"I'm in...Brooklyn? What the heck is going on here?" Ali questioned himself as he walked down the block, he knew this street...this neighborhood.
He looked up as he noticed the infamous street sign...he was in Bedstuy.
The place where his cousin was taken from this world...
"This dream just keeps getting weird-woah!" Ali exclaimed as he heard two gunshots.
His face was one of confusion and shock as his head snapped towards the shots.
He ducked as he heard people screaming and running away from the scene.
Something was telling him to go towards the shots though, and he didn't know what it was.
As people ran they seemingly phased right through him as if he was a ghost or something...like he wasn't there at all.
As Ali came upon the scene he gasped in terror.
There was...his cousin laying in puddle of his own blood, with two gunshot wounds, one in his abdomen and the other in his right chest.
"No...no...why am I reliving this." Ali said to himself.
"Mike!" Ali heard a voice yell as he looked up and noticed a younger him running towards his cousin's dead body.
The younger Ali shook Mike as he began crying.
"Heh, what a coward, your cousin died and all you could do was cry." The fake Ali said as he appeared again.
"Shut up!" Ali shouted as he clutched his head.
"We're just getting started..." The clone said as he snapped his finger.
"Everyone you love ends up leaving you in this world, you're a demon to them all." He urged on as Ali began losing it.
"Rihanna and Daan, dead." He began.
"Mike, dead." He continued.
"Your own mother, Stacia, left you as a kid." The clone pressed on.
"It's honestly surprising your father and sister are alive still." The clone said with a chuckle.
With everything he said, images of the memories flashed through Ali's mind as he began having a panick attack.
"Please...stop." He pleaded.
"After all that, it finally catches up to you, you're about to face the same fate as your cousin and your best friends." The clone was making Ali lose his mind at this point.
"How can you expect to protect them...to protect her...when you can't even protect yourself?" Ali was confused by the question until he realized he was talking about Yasmina and the others.
"Ali Barlett, the quiet kid, the one that never spoke to anyone, wanting to protect others, don't make me laugh." The clone said with a sinister laugh.
Ali began trembling because of his thoughts.
He stopped trembling as he took a deep breath.
"You're...right, maybe I am a burden to others but, I'm going to protect my friends...and I will survive long enough to tell Yasmina how I feel about her." Ali declared.
"Oh really? What sparked this change of heart?" The clone asked with a laugh.
"Heh, I thought you were the real me? You should know nothing changed, this is how I always am, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon buddy." Ali said as for the first time, the clone was left in shock by him instead.
"Stop speaking nonsense!" He shouted at Ali with a glare.
"What? You're afraid of the truth? Evil can never prevail over love." Ali said as the clone's eyes widened again.
Ali walked up to him. "To prove it...I love you." He said as he hugged his clone firmly.
The clone began crying as he soon disappeared.
Ali smiled as the bad memories disappeared.
'Don't worry guys, I'm almost back.' Ali mentally declared as he ascended.
Real World
Yasmina sat intently as she watched the allstar sleep peacefully.
Then suddenly Ali jumped up with a start as he coughed, which startled Yasmina.
"Ali? Ali!" Yasmina shouted as she hugged him, he groaned a bit.
"Yo...what I miss?" He questioned her with his signature smile as the trackstar almost began tearing up.
She wiped the small tears away swiftly.
"Oh you know, just some crazy life threatening things here and there." Yasmina said with a small chuckle which he returned.
"I'm just glad...you're okay." Yasmina said sincerely.
"Thank you Yasmina." Ali said as the trackstar got up and ran to the terrace.
"Guys! He's awake!" Yasmina shouted.
Everyone scrambled as they all scurried up to the top.
"No way..." Sammy trailed off.
Kenji instantly ran over to Ali and began chuckling joyously.
Ben and Darius walked over with smiles.
"It's good to have you back Ali." Ben stated sincerely.
"But how, it's only been half an hour, I've never seen someone wake up after the balm that quick before...it's almost inhuman." Sammy said in utter shock.
"I'm just highly motivated as a certain trackstar would say." Ali said as they all laughed at that.
"Guess he hasn't lost his wit." Darius commented.
Ali looked around after that comment as he remembered something.
"Brooklynn...how long has it been since we left her?" Ali questioned.
"It's been about two and a half hours, the guy gave us four hours." Darius informed him.
"Okay, so what are we waiting for? Let's go." Ali tries to get up as Sammy pushes him back down.
"No mister, you just woke up after having a bullet removed, you're not going anywhere." Sammy reprimanded him.
"Besides, we're not going anywhere anytime soon, the flash drive only has 25% of the data downloaded." Kenji informed him.
"What do you mean?" Ali questioned him.
"Oh right you don't know the plan, well...we're downloading all the files on Wu's laptop, then clearing the laptop completely." Darius began.
"This way, Wu gets nothing, and we stop him from creating more monsters." Darius said.
"We just have to wait about an hour and a half more for the download to finish then we can do the exchange and save Brooklynn." Darius explained as Ali now had a frown marring his face.
"So lemme get this straight, we're risking Brooklynn's livelihood, for the dinosaurs...?" Ali questioned him.
"I-I know how it sounds but-" Ali cuts Darius off.
"No, there's no other way for this sound, it's a terrible plan, I never would've expected you of all people to do this D but, Brooklynn should come first here, I'm not gonn-ack!" Ali exclaimed as he tried to get up but he fell right back down due to pain.
"Ali!" Yasmina shouted as she checked on the allstar.
"I told you! You can't move too much!" Sammy shouted at him.
"Ali, I'm sorry but, we're going through with this plan, just trust me, Brooklynn will be fine." Darius said as he left the room.
Kenji, Sammy and Ben follow after as they look back at Ali curtly before finally exiting the room.
Yasmina looked at Ali as he grimaced at the pain.
"Ali..." She said quietly.
"How could he just...leave her for dead like that?" Ali questioned Yasmina as the trackstar looked down, she had no answer for that.
Brooklynn
Brooklynn stood behind the mercenaries with a wary expression as the dinosaur came closer and closer.
They could see it's shadow now.
Fortunately the dinosaur turned and walked away.
The men were still distracted by the dino.
Brooklynn took this as an opportunity of escape.
She started banging her umbrella against the table to alert the predator of there presence.
Hawkes and his teammate look at her with glares.
The dinosaurs roar loudly and run straight to the room, they were two Monolophosauruses.
They lunged at the mercenaries as they began attacking them.
Brooklynn hid as the Monolophosauruses continued attacking her captors.
She tried to take her opportunity to get away as she got out of hiding and crept to the door.
Unfortunately she dropped the umbrella, instantly drawing the Monolophosauruses attention.
They chased after the pinkette as she ran through the halls.
Brooklynn takes a left up the stairs as the dinosaurs chased after her, hot on her tail.
As Brooklynn got out of the exit she tries to shut the door as the Monolophosauruses tried to push the door open.
After a bit of struggle they gave up and ran back downstairs.
Brooklynn sighed in relief as she goes to turn and run away.
As she ran she failed to notice Hawkes standing right in front of her as she collided with him and fell onto her backside.
"H-How?" She questioned shakily as he smirked and crossed his arms.
"Thanks for showing us that vent in the lab, a real life saver." Hawkes quipped.
Brooklynn frowned deeply at his smugness.
Clubhouse
Yasmina had brung Ali a cup of water.
"Thank you, Yas but..." Ali was a bit sheepish, he didn't want to admit he needed Yas' help drinking the water.
"Oh, um here." She said shakily as she guided the cup to him and allowed him to drink the water.
"Thanks again Yas, I can't believe you really stood by my side this entire time." Ali praised as Yasmina blushed at the compliment.
"How's the download going right now?" Ali questioned her.
"It's done actually but...wiping it is gonna take atleast another hour." Yasmina informed him.
"How much time do we have left?" He questioned her.
"About an hour left I think, why?" Yasmina asked.
"So...it's gonna be a close call with Brooklynn's life on the line?" Ali questioned as his voice rose a bit.
"Yea but, I have faith in Darius' plan, just relax Ali." Yasmina said as she hugged him lightly in order to protect his wounds.
'Sorry guys but...I can't sit back and let Brooklynn's life be endangered.' Ali mentally stated as he started steeling himself for what he was about to do.
Brooklynn
Brooklynn hated her life right now to say the least.
She was essentially a prisoner, as she trekked through the forest.
Hawkes was in front of her, Wu and the other mercenary were flanking her.
She looked into the thick part of the jungle, it could be a chance at escape.
"I know what you're thinking...don't." Hawkes dismissed her thoughts.
"You'll be back with your friends as soon as we get to the rendezvous point." Wu informed Brooklynn as she rolled her eyes with a scoff.
"You don't seriously expect me to trust a guy who hires mercenaries that kidnap kids, right? Not to mention one of them is a closeted pedophile." Brooklynn said with a deadpan as the African-American mercenary growled at her.
"I'm not a pedophile!" He shouted.
"I didn't hire them, and you're not kidnapped you're just...an unexpected complication." Wu said shakily.
"And YOU'RE full of shit." Brooklynn said with a deadpanned expression.
Wu chose to ignore her smart mouthed comment.
"I only came back for my research and the Indom-" Wu cuts himself off, he was revealing too much.
Brooklynn looked at him in confusion as he cleared his throat.
"The point is...I'm a visionary, pushing the boundaries of science, hopefully one day you'll understand that." Wu said smugly.
"True visionaries make the world better, not worse, hopefully one day you'll understand that." Brooklynn stated bitingly, effectively shutting him up.
Wu was taken back by the young lady's conviction.
"Holdup!" Hawkes shouted as he motioned for them to stop.
They all realized a raging river, which is why they obviously had to stop.
"It's fine, we'll go around." The mercenary said.
"Sure, let's head deeper into the jungle where all the carnivores hang." Brooklynn said sarcastically.
"We can cross on that." Brooklynn said as she pointed to a tree that had fallen, it made a makeshift bridge for them.
Hawkes was the first to get on as he stepped cautiously.
As he got two steps ahead he almost slipped to his demise.
The others gasped in horror, fortunately he got up before falling into the water.
"It's wet! Watch your footing!" He warned them.
Wu got onto the branch and decided to crawl for safety.
Brooklynn gets on after as she walked leisurely.
The other mercenary does the same after her.
Wu somehow still slips as they all stopped for a second.
He quickly got back up and they all started moving again.
It was all going smoothly until Brooklynn heard a cry from behind her.
The other mercenary had slipped, unlike Hawkes and Wu he actually fell into the drink.
Brooklynn tried to reach for his hand but she was too short.
She gets up and follows after Wu and Hawkes who noticed the man flowing down the river as well.
They stopped as they noticed him fall down a waterfall, surely to his death.
Brooklynn ran ahead as if she was ready to jump after him.
Hawkes grabbed her shoulder, stopping her swiftly.
"You're just going to let him die?" Wu questioned him.
"He knew the risks of the job...your friends better deliver." Hawkes said as he glared at Brooklynn.
Brooklynn looked up at with a scared expression for numerous reasons.
He essentially just threatened her, and he let his comrade die like it was nothing.
They then continued their journey as they trekked through the jungle.
Hawkes signaled them to stop and crouch as he heard a low growl.
He aimed his gun in the direction of the assailant.
A familiar glow caught Brooklynn's eyes as she noticed one of the tunnel Parasaurolophuses emerge from the bush Hawkes had aimed at.
She realized he was still aiming the gun at the creature.
"Relax, this one's just being a dinosaur." Brooklynn informed him as he relaxed and brought the gun down.
"See my creations aren't monsters, her bio-luminescence is stunning even outside of the caves...wait why is she here?" Wu questioned Brooklynn.
"You can thank your other creation for that." Brooklynn stated, referencing the carnage of the Scorpious Rex.
"The Scorpious Rex was a monster, both of them were." Brooklynn revealed as Wu's eyes widened.
"Both? But I only made one..." Wu said.
"Turns out E750, made it's own E750, and between the two of us, they woulda killed everything on this island if it wasn't for us." Brooklynn said to him.
"Didn't think about that when you were being all Dr. Frankenstein, did ya?" Brooklynn questioned him with a side eye.
A sudden gun shot drew their attention, as it also startled the Parasaurolophus away.
They both looked at Hawkes who had fired a shot into the air.
"Let's go!" He exclaimed as he grabbed Brooklynn's arm roughly and began walking again.
Wu followed after, his head hung a bit low due to the news he just recieved.
Clubhouse
Ali took a deep breath as he stood up slowly.
He bit back a groan of pain as he made his way slowly to the railings.
He saw the others on the ground going over the plan one last time.
"Sorry guys but...I can't just sit back and do nothing." He said to himself.
He then walked over to the laptop as he noticed the wiping process which was going rather slow.
He shut it, left the flash drive and exited the clubhouse through the back so that no one would see him leave.
"Don't worry Brooklynn...I'm coming." Ali said as he coughed a bit before running huskily through the jungle.
Back at the clubhouse
"And we'll meet up here." Darius finished as he put the final touches on his plan and told it to Yasmina and Kenji.
Ben had gone to get Bumpy a while ago.
"Sounds like a good plan to me." Kenji said with a shrug.
"Click, click, click." Sammy repeated as she spun around with took fake pictures with her finger cameras.
"Sammy?" Yasmina questioned in confusion.
"Huh?" Sammy was brought out of her thoughts.
"What ya doin there girlf?" Kenji asked as he walked up to her.
"I'm just takin a few mental pictures, this might be a last time we get to see this place." Sammy said as Kenji hugged her.
"Yea...you're right." Darius said flatly.
"Shouldn't we want to...forget this place?" Yasmina questioned them.
"I have to agree with Yas on that one." Kenji stated.
"Oh come on guys, we did have some good days here." Sammy said as they sighed, they had to admit, when they weren't running for their lives it was fun to be with eachother.
"Now get in the picture Kenj! And say cheese!" Sammy shouted as they all posed.
"Click." She said as she took the mental picture.
"Wait redo I was making an ugly face!" Kenji shouted as they all.
chuckled.
"Okay, okay let's get a group selfie, wait! We need to get Ali in it." Sammy said as they all agreed and began climbing to the top level.
Kenji was the first to the top as he gasped in realization, Ali was gone.
The others come soon after as they gasped as well.
"Ali?" Yasmina questioned as they looked around.
"He's gone." Sammy said, fear laced her words.
Darius walked over to the terrace as he gasped in realization.
There was only the flash, no laptop.
He ran back into the room. "He took the laptop!" Darius shouted as they all looked at him in surprise.
"If he's going to do what we're all thinking he's gonna do, he might be seriously hurt, his injuries are still relatively fresh, most gunshot victims are usually hospitalized for a week or more." Sammy informed them.
Yasmina visibly tensed at this news as she clutched his chain that was still around her neck.
"I can't believe him...he really..." Yasmina trailed off.
"Atleast he left the flash." Kenji said as he picked it up.
"But the hard drive isn't wiped, we have to stop him." Darius said as they all nodded at him.
'Why would he do this? Knowing he just came off of a life threatening injury.' Yasmina mentally cursed the stubborn boy she couldn't help but love.
Ali
Ali ran through the jungle with Wu's laptop in hand.
Running was harder than usual, but that was to be expected if you're someone who's only two hours out of bullet removal surgery.
However, Ali knew Brooklynn's life was on the line he had to be strong.
His vision was a bit blurred, so he stumbled a bit and fell into a tree.
"Come on Barlett! Your sister needs you!" Ali berated himself as he shook his head and continued running towards the valley.
He stopped by a tree as he noticed the chopper, Brooklynn, Wu, and Hawkes stood in front of it.
Ali took this time to gather his breath before he hardened his face and began walking towards them.
Hawkes noticed hin as he began walking forward whilst dragging Brooklynn by her arm.
Wu followed behind him leisurely.
Ali refused to say a word to the man until they were face to face, but he grit his teeth once he noticed how rough Hawkes was holding his sister's arm.
"Ali! No!" Brooklynn shouted.
Ben and Bumpy were both posted on top of a hill as Ben was now confused.
"Hm? I thought Ali wasn't supposed to leave the clubhouse due to the shot, guess the plans changed." Ben said as he mounted Bumpy.
"Let's hit it Bumps." Ben said as he cud Bumpy forward, the teenaged Ankylosaurus bellowed and ran forward.
As Ali and Hawkes now stood eight feet apart Hawkes made a halt signal.
The mercenary noticed Ali's left chest as his eyes widened for a second, it was a stitched up gunshot wound.
'So Reed did hit something that night, how did this kid not yell?' Hawkes mentally questioned.
"That's close enough!" Hawkes yelled.
"Doctor?" Hawkes questioned Wu.
"This is not how I envisioned spending my time on this island." Wu said as he walked towards Ali.
"I know the feeling." Brooklynn stated flatly.
Wu stood in front of Ali directly as he held his hand out expectantly.
"Hell no, send Brooklynn over first." Ali said as he held the laptop away from him.
Wu sighed exasperatedly, he then turned and motioned Hawkes to bring Brooklynn over.
Ali's gaze hardened at Hawkes, who returned the same glare.
His eyes then softened as he noticed how scared Brooklynn was.
"No..." She said in a hushed tone.
Ali handed Wu the laptop reluctantly as Brooklynn glared at the scientist.
"Thank you." Wu said plainly
"Now let her go." Ali said to Hawkes.
"Not so fast, check it." Hawkes said as he held onto Brooklynn firmly.
Before Wu could even open the laptop they all heard loud footsteps running towards them.
Everyone turned to see a giant Ankylosaurus stampede coming their way, lead by none other than Ben and Bumpy.
"Ben!" Brooklynn shoued.
"Remember Bumpy? How you like her asymetry now?" Ben cried out.
Ali was distracted for a second but he quickly noticed Hawkes dragging Brooklynn away with Wu running alongside him.
He ran after Hawkes as he tackled him to the ground.
That definitely reminded him of his injuries as his entire body felt like it was on fire.
Fortunately he quickly got up due to his adrenaline.
Hawkes could not retaliate as the stampede caught up to them.
The Ankylosaurus herd separated Hawkes from Brooklynn and Ali.
Wu was tackled to the ground accidentally as he ensured to hug the laptop.
Unfortunately for him, the device slipped out of his grasp.
Ben and Bumpy walked over to him as Ben fist pumped.
Bumpy then steps on the laptop for spite as it fizzled and short circuited.
"No!" Wu shouted in terror.
The others came upon the scene as they noticed the chaos that was going on.
They quickly noticed Ali and Brooklynn in this mix of it all.
Ali hugged Brooklynn tightly as she returned the hug.
"You're...safe now." He said as his voice hitched.
"Thank you." Brooklynn said sincerly.
"This reunion is nice and all but, you kids just ruined a good paying job opportunity for me, someone has to pay." Hawkes said angrily as he walked up to them.
Both of them frowned deeply at him.
"Go." Ali said quietly to Brooklynn.
"What? No w-" Brooklynn is cutoff as Ali hugged her tightly again.
"Please, I just got you back I don't want you in danger again." Ali said as Brooklynn sighed.
"Okay, just come back to us okay?" Brooklynn questioned him as he nodded.
She then ran towards the others as Ali and Hawkes faced eachother.
"So, you're the kid that Reed hit that night, I mean I didn't even know, you didn't so much as wince did you?" Hawkes questioned him rhetorically as Ali folded his fists.
"I don't care how tough you think you are kid, but you survived by sheer luck." Hawkes continued.
"I'm a highly trained mercenary, you're just a teenager still trying to figure this world out, you're weak." Hawkes taunted Ali even further.
Ali's frown never faltered as he noticed Hawkes' gun.
"You're...weaker." Ali said as he jerked his head towards the gun.
Hawkes was taken back to say the least, he looked at the gun for a second.
He swiftly thew it into the herd of Ankylosauruses that were still going crazy.
Hawkes then delivered a quick kick to Ali's abdomen as he hobbled over in pain.
The others noticed this as they tried to get through the Ankylosaurus herd to help but they were even rowdier than before.
"Who the hell do you think you are, huh? Some typa superhero?" Hawkes questioned.
Ali tightened his fists again as he also grasped a handful of dirt.
"No...I'm not a hero." Ali said as he began slowly standing up.
"I'm just a kid from Brooklyn!" Ali shouted as he swiftly stood, he then threw the dirt into Hawkes' eyes causing the mercenary to cry out and be temporarily blinded.
As Hawkes regained his vision a bit, it was too late.
Ali was already in front of him as he delivered a clean left uppercut.
Hawkes wasn't knocked out cold but he wouldn't be getting up immediately.
Ali huffed out as he turned to walk away.
"Stay away from my family." Ali said as he made his way through the herd and to the others.
As he got to them they all minus Yasmina rushed towards him.
"Ali!" Brooklynn shouted as she hugged him.
"What were you thinking!? You probably agitated the wound!" Sammy shouted at him.
"That was a clean uppercut though." Kenji complimented as the others glared at him, the point was to reprimand Ali, not compliment him.
"Sorry guys I just...I just couldn't sit back and do nothing while Brooklynn's life was in danger." Ali said he smiled at the pinkette who returned it.
Darius sighed. "The only reason I'm not as mad is because you have to face that." Sammy said as they all turned to see Yasmina standing off to herself.
Ali sighed as he huskily walked over to Yasmina.
"I know, what I did was reckless, stupid, life endangering, but...I aww man I really messed up." Ali berated himself as Yasmina turned to him.
Tears were basically raining from her eyes, this image almost made Ali flinch back.
He didn't even realize Yasmina raising her left hand into the air.
It was all too late as she slapped him, hard.
"Why would you do something like this? You were already hurt, do you know how much pain you cause me when you put your life on the line like that?" Yasmina questioned.
"Yas I'm sorry I..." Ali trailed off.
The trackstar raised her hand again as Ali didn't even attempt to dodge or flinch, he wanted her to let it all out.
Only the slap never came, she hugged him firmly.
"Please...stop doing this, I don't want to lose you." Yasmina as she did something she never did, show vulnerability.
The others watched in sorrow as Yasmina let her pain out.
Ali returned the embrace. "I'm sorry Yas, I never meant to hurt you but you have my word, from now on, I'm making it a promise to never hurt you again." Ali said as they separated.
"Thank you." She said and began wiping her tears.
"Awwwwww." Sammy cooed as they turned to her and the others advancing them.
"Wait...you guys were listenting?" Ali questioned.
"Was kinda hard not to." Kenji stated.
Ali sighed as they all did a large group hug.
"Now can we finally get the hell out of here?" Brooklynn shouted.
"I'd say it's that ti-" Ali is cutoff as they heard a chopper coming their way.
It was Hawkes and Wu in the chopper.
"Oh no...run!" Darius shouted as they ran into the jungle.
Hawkes focused on Ali as he growled at him.
The others climbed into some trees as Ali was separated.
The chopper gained on him as he climbed into a tree of his own.
Ali closed his eyes as he braced for impact, thankfully the chopper pulled up swiftly without harming him.
He breathed heavily as he opened his eyes to realize he was fortunately alive.
"Woohoo!" Kenji whooped as the others began cheering as well.
Ali noticed them across from him as he smiled at them.
They all descended from the trees and met on the floor.
"Okay, I think we're finally saf-" Brooklynn pinched Ali's ear as he cried out.
"Everytime we say that, something happens, let's just go, don't even say a word." Brooklynn said as she let go of his ear and began walking towards the docks.
"I'm a victim of abuse." Ali said flatly as the others chuckled at him and they all began following Brooklynn.
"That was a bit stupid of you to take the laptop but, it all worked out in the end, no hard feelings, right?" Darius questioned Ali as he offered him a fist bump.
Ali frowned at him. "No Darius...I can't be cool with someone who abandons family, I don't rock with that at all." Ali said as he walked ahead swiftly.
Darius looked at Ali's back with a dumbfounded expression.
He slowly followed the rest of the group as they walked to the docks.
There was no time to dwell on hard feelings right now.
Yacth
Ben had just finished saying goodbye to Bumpy as he looked down trodden.
Kenji and Sammy held hands as they watched the exchange.
"Sorry about that Ben but-" Ben cuts Sammy's apology off.
"It's fine, we all have to say goodbye to something at some point, I'll always have Bumpy in my heart." Ben said as he walked on deck.
Ali had brought Yasmina to the front of the boat.
"Okay, now that we finally have a chance, I'm gonna tell you how I really feel Yas." Ali said as Yasmina took a deep breath to prepare herself.
"I already told you how beautiful you are, how smart you are, and cool but I just can't find enough words to describe what I feel about you." Ali said as Yasmina blushed slightly.
"So I'll just say it straight up, I love you, Yasmina Fadoula." Ali confessed as the trackstar's eyes widened.
"I think I'm losing my hearing, can you repeat that-" Yasmina was cutoff by Kenji's groan.
"Just kiss already!" He shouted as Ali shrugged and did just that.
He kissed Yasmina fully on the lips as she returned it and deepened it.
The trackstar couldn't describe the feeling but she felt as though she was floating above the skies.
The others whooped and said different forms of congratulations.
The two love birds separated as they looked into eachother's eyes.
"I...I love you too, Ali Barlett." Yasmina said as Ali hugged her by the waist.
"You guys are so cute right now!" Sammy shouted.
"Privacy is a foreign concept to this group." Ali said with a deadpan.
"Tell me about it." Yasmina said to him.
"Oh lighten up, atleast you guys are confessing while it's sunny and we're about to go home! I had to tell Sammy how I felt when we were still on dino death island with franken-dino!" Kenji complained as everyone began laughing.
Even though there was some tension they all were in high spirits, especially the new couple.
Later
Ali and Yasmina were watching the sunset together.
"It feels so good to be open about feelings, I should try it more." Yasmina said as she laid her head on his shoulder.
"Like that'll ever happen." Ali said as they both shared a laugh and then a quick peck.
Brooklynn and Darius were sitting on the sunbathing seats as they watched the sunset as well.
"We're finally going home...I can't believe this." Brooklynn said in utter shock.
"I know, but I'm just glad we all made it out alive." Darius said as he remembered how it felt to see Ali losing all that blood from a gunshot wound.
Brooklynn hugged him as she nuzzled into him and got comfortable, Darius hugs her back.
Sammy and Kenji were in the kitchen preparing dinner.
Mitch and Tiff had a crazy amount of canned food.
"What's this again Sammy?" Kenji questioned her as she stirred the food.
"It's just beans and hotdogs on rice Kenji." Sammy said as she chuckled.
"Well I'm rich so, we never really ate this kinda stuff you know, sorry about boasting." Kenji apologized sheepily.
"It's okay sweetheart, I know what you're sayin, now try it!" Sammy shouted as she brought the spoon to Kenji's mouth.
Kenji tasted the food and his eyes widened immediately.
"There's no way that's just canned food." Kenji said in disbelief.
"Ofcourse not, that would be yucky, I had to add my own seasoning." Sammy said with a small laugh.
Kenji hugged her from behind as they kissed briefly.
"When we get married, I'm going to be the luckiest man alive if this is the food I'll get access too daily." Kenji complimented the cowgirl causing her to blush deeply.
"Bleh! Can you keep your gross love away from the food!" Ben shouted as Sammy and Kenji looked at him.
"Oh, sorry about that Ben, but the food's done, call everyone to the table, please." Sammy informed him as she went and set out seven bowls of food with Kenji's help.
As the others got to the table they all smelled the delicious aroma.
"Woah what the hell? Who made this delicious smelling eatery?" Ali asked regally as Sammy laughed bashfully.
"Awe shucks." She said with a grin.
"Try it guys." Kenji told them.
Everyone minus Ali tried the food and they immediately gasped at how good it was.
"Wow, this is so good!" Ben shouted as they all started scarfing the food down.
Sammy smiled proudly at her handy work.
"Um..." Ali said as Yasmina noticed his predicament.
"Oh right, sorry about that Ali." She said as she picked up a spoon of food and fed it to him.
His eyes immediately widened. "Sammy, you are a culinary master! More!" Ali shouted as they all laughed jovially once more.
The kids finally took their chance to be happy and live life, they ate, danced, played games, and ultimately relaxed, they finally got a chance to do normal teenager things after they had to spend a long six months worried about their...
Survival.
