The campers walked into the hallway, still very confused as to the invisible door they were stepping through.
"I feel like we're making a habit of walking into things blindly." Ali said with a flat tone.
"Would you rather we stay out in the desert?" Brooklynn questioned him as he struggled to make a comeback.
"You make a good point." He caved as they walked through the hallway and looked at the walls warily.
Brooklynn suddenly stops as she notices another door to their left.
She gasped and ran towards it as Darius followed after her.
"This way guys." He called to the others as they ran after them.
Brooklynn, Darius, and Ali were the first to the door as they noticed a blue telegraphic locked padlock.
The superstar swipes the padlock as it goes from blue to green and the padlock image opens up.
The door opens up as they stared in shock at what was behind it.
It was like...a whole different place, a forest of some sort was the general environment.
The entire group was left in shock at this sight.
"How the hell did we get from the desert to a forest like this in that short of a time?" Ali questioned Darius.
"I-I don't know." The dino nerd said shakily.
The group then cautiously walked out into the forest as they tried to figure out what was happening.
"This is so confusing." Brooklynn said as she frowned.
"What the heck is this place-" Sammy was cutoff by a loud earth shaking stomp.
The stomp was felt by the entire group as they gasped and looked around in confusion.
More and more stomps came as they all started breathing heavily in realization.
"No...it can't be." Yasmina said in a hushed tone.
As the loud footsteps got closer and closer, the group began panicking more and more.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd say that sounds like a..." Sammy trailed off as they heard a loud growl.
"T Rex." She finished in a high pitched tone as a black T Rex came into view causing them all gasp in fear and shock.
"Run!" Darius shouted as the beast lets out a loud roar.
The entire group minus Yasmina yelled out and ran away as the T Rex chased them.
Ali turned to see his girlfriend was frozen in place.
He immediately ran and grabbed her hand. "Come on Yas!" Ali shouted as he made her run with him.
The T Rex was hot on the group's trail, more so Yasmina and Ali for obvious reasons.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Kenji shouted as they group split up.
Sammy, Ben and Kenji went to the right and hid behind a boulder.
Yasmina, Ali, Brooklynn and Darius went to the left and hid behind a tree.
The T Rex ran right by them as it roared loudly.
The group gasped as another roar was heard, then a second T Rex appeared on the scene.
The two giants roared loudly as they challenged eachother and began fighting.
Yasmina gasped and the roars as she began shaking a bit.
"Yas, it's okay just calm down." Ali stated as he hugged her tightly trying to calm her down as her breath hitched.
The others made their way over to them.
Brooklynn knelt down as she clutched her head in exasperation.
"Does every island have dinosaurs now?" Brooklynn questioned no one in particular.
"Who's that?" Ali questioned as he directed the group's attention to a mocha colored woman sitting a few feet in front of them.
They were all confused as to why she was simply sitting there enjoying a sandwich and using her tablet as if two T Rexes weren't fighting right behind her.
"What the hell...?" Kenji asked in confusion.
The sound of his voice alerted the woman as she looked up and noticed them.
Upon sight her sandwich dropped from her mouth as she had a dumbfounded expression.
It was quickly replaced by one of anger as she stood up and ran towards them.
"You're trespassing! What are you doing?" She questioned with a heavy British accent.
"You're here to spy?" She questioned in a hushed tone as Ali and Kenji both deadpanned at her.
"Yup...a bunch of kids dressed in raggedy, ripped up, and bloody clothes, ahh you got us." Ali said with sarcasm lacing his words.
"We work for the CIA and the FBI, how'd you know?" Kenji questioned her.
The woman was taken back by their attitudes but she still held a frown.
She did however notice the claw marks on Kenji's chest and the stitched up bullet wound in Ali's.
'These lot have been through a lot...' She mentally stated.
Brooklynn slaps both boys in their head as they yelped.
"Guys! Stop being rude...are you crazy?" She exclaimed quietly at the woman.
'Way to be a hypocrite Brook, not exactly polite yourself.' Ali mentally stated as he folded his arms.
"What are you talking about?" She asked Brooklynn as if there was nothing happening.
"You're eating a sandwich in the middle of a T Rex fight." Brooklynn pressed.
"First of all...they're not fighting they're-" Darius cuts her off.
"Playing! Craniofacial biting...it's true!" Darius exclaimed as the group realized the T Rexes were actually playing.
"Uhh yes...don't change the subject." The woman said trying to stay stern.
Yasmina had calmed down a bit at the news of the dinosaurs only playing so she turned to the woman.
"Lady, we don't wanna be here either...we just want to go home." Yasmina stated as the pain in her voice really resonated with the group, especially Ali as he looked at her warily.
"Yea right...we'll see about that." The woman said bitingly as she began walking.
"Are we really gonna follow her...we don't even know her name." Ali said to Darius.
"We don't have a choice G..." Darius said as they both sighed.
The rest of the group minus Ali and Yasmina began walking after the woman.
The trackstar suddenly hugged the allstar swiftly.
"Why can't we just...get to go home and be happy...why us? Why do we have to be the ones that have to go through this." She questioned as her breath hitched.
Ali sighed, seeing Yasmina in this much pain made his soul burn.
"Yas...God gives us challenges because he wants to see how much we can grow from them, I sent a lot of messages to the lord, he doesn't reply sometimes but I know he got the text." Ali said as he made her look at him.
"Just keep hope, we're gonna get home, we didn't go through all we did to simply just...give up." Ali said as they separated and the trackstar smiled at him.
"Thank you." She said sincerly.
"There's that beautiful smile I love." He said as they held hands and began walking after the others.
"Guys! Hurry up!" Ben shouted as they sped up.
As they caught up to the others they heard the woman talking.
"You really expect me to believe that children survived on Isla Nublar for six entire months?" She questioned.
"What the hell is your problem lad-" Ali was cutoff due to the glare Brooklynn sent his way.
The superstar's gaze softened as she turned to the woman.
"Trust me...it's hard for us to believe too." Brooklynn said sincerly.
"Mhm...I suppose you must be telling the truth because who would make up such a crazy story unless they had to...not to say you wouldn't have to...or that your crazy, who knows, I don't know, you don't know me for that matter." She rambled on as they walked.
The woman suddenly realized her rant.
"Have I been yammering on? I-I've been out here for the better part of the month with no one to talk to and I guess I've had a lot more to say than I thought." She ranted again.
"Trust me when I say, it shows." Ali said as Brooklynn gave him the look again.
Yasmina twists Ali's ear as he winced and yelped out.
"I got him don't worry." She said as Brooklynn sighed and began focusing on the woman again.
"Sorry about him...he doesn't know how to control his mouth." Brooklynn apologized as Ali deadpanned at her.
"No bother, I've had my fair share of run ins with green brats." The woman said plainly as Ali's eyes widened as he prepared to say something.
Before he could reply Yasmina pulled him back.
"Wow...someone who can keep up with Ali's wit? I must learn from her." Kenji said with a grin.
Darius looked at the woman suspiciously.
"You look so familiar-" Darius was cutoff as they heard the T Rexes' roar loudly.
This drew the attention of the group as they all turned to the dinosaurs swiftly.
"Don't worry...they're almost tuckered out, they won't bother us." Mae reassured the kids as they relaxed slightly.
"How could you know that?" Ben questioned Mae.
"I study dinosaur brains." Mae said with a small chuckle.
"Behavior paleoneurobiologist, I'm Mae Turn-" Darius cuts the woman off as he grasps her hands in his.
"Turner! That's it! You're doctor Mae Turner! It's an honor to meet you, I've read your book...uh, theoretical emotional journey with theropods." Darius rambled as he shook her hands roughly.
"Oh, you were the one." Mae said in realization.
"Hey, uh, sorry to break up this little...whatever you call it but, if you would be so kind as to point us to the nearest phone we'll gladly get out of your hair lady." Ali stated as he stepped forward.
"Yea sorry, this island is completely shut off the grid, no communication in or out." Mae revealed as they all gasped.
"Are you kidding?" Yasmina questioned in disbelief.
"What?" Sammy added in.
"No!" Ben shouted in disdain.
"We can't use that to call out?" Brooklynn questioned as she pointed at Mae's tablet.
"Sorry, closed circuit, mainly I use it to connect to a doodad in their brains and- oh! Can't tell you actually, proprietary research." Mae stated.
"Yea...I'm noticing the pattern, grandma." Ali said as Mae gasped slightly.
"Grandma? Well I never." She said as she frowned slightly at him.
"So...there's no way home." Yasmina said solemnly as she hugged Ali softly.
Mae softened at this. "Don't lose hope...you can all rest up with me until we figure out a way to get you out of here." Mae said as she turned and began walking.
"Are we seriously going to just...trust her?" Kenji questioned the group.
"Hate to say it Kenj...but we don't have much of a choice for now." Ali said as Darius nodded from beside her.
They all looked down with solemn demeanors.
"But ofcourse we're not gonna trust her." Brooklynn finished with a wink as she walked off.
"What did that even me- nevermind, come on guys just give Dr. Turner a chance, what's the worst that could happen?" He said as he walked off as well.
"He didn't learn a single thing from Mitch and Tiff." Ben said with a deadpan as he walked ahead.
Everyone remaining sighed as Ali stepped forward a bit.
"No sense dwelling on it I guess...let's go guys." Ali said as they all walked to join the others.
As they got closer they hear Mae and Darius discussing the creatures.
"Actually a Sabertooth died yesterday in the desert biome...one of the BRADs already removed it and replaced it with a younger male." She explained to him.
Ali let out a relieved sigh. 'Good...if she knew I was the one that killed the tiger she'd probably hate my guts...assuming she already doesn't.' Ali mentally stated.
"What's a BRAD?" Sammy questioned.
"Oh, they're full names are Bio Robotic Assistance Droids, they are basically just the little robot helpers that keep the biomes safe." Mae explained.
"So the tigers and the Rexes...your bosses are making prehistoric creatures?" Darius questioned her.
"Some...although they got the T Rexes from Isla Sorna...not that I should be telling you this." Mae said shakily.
"You seem to have a knack for telling us things you shou-" Mae cuts Kenji off.
"Holdup!" She exclaimed as she stopped the group abruptly.
"Important announcement time! Whatever you do...do not go down there." She warned them as she brought her attention to the dark part of the forest.
"Super dangerous." She whispered.
"Alright! Off we pop!" Mae shouted with a cheery tone as she began walking again.
"Hehe...maybe she's just trying to warn us, let's go." Darius said as he walked ahead.
"Yea that wasn't suspicious in the slightest." Yasmina whispered to Ali.
"Stay sharp guys, this lady may have a few screws loose." Ali said to the remaining five as they all began walking.
"Please don't let this be another Mitch and Tiff situation." Kenji said with a small groan.
"Ugh! Don't even say that Kenj." Sammy stated with a disgusted face.
Mae's Lair
The camp fam noticed a giant waterfall as they watched the water flow in awe.
As Mae came to a stop she turned to the camp fam.
"We're here." She said as she turned again and walked behind the waterfall.
They were still wide eyed and mouth agaped.
They walked forward as they notice a cave entrance.
"It's...beautiful." Kenji said as he voiced everyone's thoughts.
They then walked up to Mae, who stood in front of a blast door.
She clicks a command on the tablet as the door opens revealing the lair to the kids.
They all gasped once more as they ran in and immediately began exploring the area.
Sammy and Kenji plopped down on the large couch located in the middle of the cave.
The others were looking at the numerous things decorating the lair.
"As far as caves go this one's pretty swank." Sammy complimented.
"Swank? Yea I don't think I'll ever get Texas talk." Ben said as everyone chuckled slightly.
After the laughter died down Darius turned to Mae.
"You..live here?" He said in awe of the little living space.
"Live, work, play surprisingly competitive games of poker by myself, I usually win." She said as she nudged Ali and began laughing hysterically.
Ali wanted so badly to respond harshly but the look Yasmina was giving him shut those thoughts down immediately.
"Gee, what a real knee slapper that was." He a responded with a neutral expression.
"I know right?" Mae asked as she failed to recognize his sarcasm.
"Alright! I'm gonna go whip up some sandwiches." Mae declared as she made her way to the kitchen.
"She is the worst." Kenji said as Sammy elbowed him causing him to groan slightly.
Before Kenji can protest Brooklynn and Ali crept over to the kitchen as they peaked in to see what Mae was up to.
True to her words, she was busy making some sandwiches as she hummed a tune.
The superstar looked at the allstar as they nodded then turned and began searching the room.
Darius looked at them with a confused expression as they scoured the area.
He walked up to Brooklynn as she checked the teacups on a shelf.
"What are you doing?" He asked in a hushed tone.
"We're not just gonna take her word for it, there's no phone here." Brooklynn said as they turned to him.
"Come on D, after that Mitch and Tiff scandal we can't afford to blindly trust anyone with our survival on the line." Ali explained as Darius thought it over.
He eventually relented. "Guess it doesn't hurt to look around..." He said as everyone joined in on the search as they all examined different areas.
As they searched for a bit Mae decided to check on them.
"Are you guys alright out there?" She shouted from the kitchen causing them all to gasp sharply.
"Yea! Uh...no problems over here!" Kenji shouted back shakily as he checked under a lamp.
They all let out a sigh as Mae had fortunately bought it.
Darius who was checking out her work area pushed her rolling chair out and sighed.
"No phone...I think she's telling the truth." He said to Sammy who was looking through some documents beside him.
Darius then noticed Mae's dinosaur brain research on the wall as he immediately began observing it.
"We got nothing." Brooklynn said as she walked up with Ben and Kenji beside her.
"Nada over here too." Yasmina said as Ali walked up next to her.
"I hate to admit it but...maybe the granny is tel-" Ali is cutoff by an audible gasp from Sammy.
"Sammy? What is it?" Kenji asked frantically as his boyfriend instincts kicked in immediately.
"Mantah Corp..." Sammy said with a strained voice as she turned and showed the group a file with Mantah Corp's company signature on it.
The entire group gasped in response to this as their eyes were left widened.
"I knew she couldn't be trusted..." Brooklynn said as Darius looked down slightly.
"No time to dwell on that...if she really works for the company that blackmailed Sammy's family, there's no telling what she'd do to us...we have to find a way out of here." Ali explained to the group.
"Who wants a sandwich?" Mae asked as she immediately made them straighten up.
They all looked at the sandwiches warily as a tense silence built up.
"Uhhh...I do, mmm, they look so yummy." Kenji said in order to break the silence.
"Excellent." Mae said with a smile as they all sat at the table and were given their own sandwiches.
Kenji and Sammy sat on one of the regular chairs as Kenji used the handle as his seat.
Brooklynn and Darius sat on the couch.
Yasmina and Ali opted to sit on the floor.
Darius took a bite of his sandwich first.
The others looked at him with wary expressions.
'Please don't be poison...' Brooklynn mentally pleaded.
"Mmm, this is so good." Darius said with no signs of a struggle.
Everyone else looked at the sandwiches skeptically.
"Is something wrong?" Mae questioned as they all turned to her.
"Yes, we wanted to ask abou-" Yasmina is cutoff by Brooklynn.
"Something to...drink?" Brooklynn said shakily.
Mae gasped in terror. "Ofcourse! Silly me, you need cocoaaaa." She said in a sing-song tone.
"You need to shut uppp-ack!" Ali exclaimed slightly as Yasmina flicked his ear.
"You're getting too comfortable with this abuse..." Ali said as he rubbed his ear.
"What was that?" Mae questioned.
"Nothing!" Brooklynn shouted in response.
"We need to leave...now." Brooklynn said in a quieter tone.
"Maybe not." Sammy whispered back.
"What? But Sammy, she works for the douchebags that blackmailed your family, why would you defend her?" Kenji questioned her in confusion.
"Yea...and I did too...sometimes good people can be made to do good things by bad people." Sammy explained.
"Didn't you say there's good in everyone, Ali?" Sammy questioned as she used the allstar's logic against him.
Ali sighed in defeat. "Fine, you win Samster but...we have to atleast check out that dangerous area she said stay away from?" He said with air quotes.
"Why? What happened to us staying away from danger?" Darius questioned him.
"Okay, can everyone stop using my damn words against me?" Ali questioned.
"What if there's a phone or a way off the island and she's just keeping us away from it?" Brooklynn asked in response to Darius.
"Why would she do that?" Darius pressed on with a question of his own.
"So we can't tell anyone about whatever shady stuff Mantah Corp's doin here." Ben said as he finally spoke up.
"Okay fine, Brooklynn, Ali, Yas and I will go check it out while Kenji, Sammy and Ben will stall her." Darius explained as everyone nodded.
The group began to leave before Kenji had a thought.
"Wait! How are we supposed to stall her?" He questioned them.
"Bruh I don't know? Talk about the dino brains or something." Ali said as they finally left.
"Well that was helpful." Ben said with a deadpan.
"Bad news, I only have two cups, good news...with the right attitude a bowl can be a cup." Mae said as she walked out of the kitchen with dishes in her hands.
She then scrunched her face in confusion as she noticed more than half the group was missing.
"Wait...where did everyone go?" She questioned as they all began scrambling.
"Uh..." Ben drawled out.
"They are..." Sammy trailed off.
"Napping! They are napping, ya know being stranded gets very exhausting for some, not for me ofcourse." Kenji boasted with a chuckle.
"Oh...I'll go see if they need extra blankets." Mae said as she set the dishes down.
"No! Um...they'll be fine but can you tell us about these uh..." Ben trailed off as he gestured to the dinosaur brains.
"Oh? You're interested in my research?" She questioned them as she forgot all about her original plan and began rambling about the research.
"This is gonna be oh, so interesting." Kenji said with a tired expression as he walked up to them.
"Who did you say you worked for again?" Sammy questioned firmly.
"I didn't...wha-" Kenji cuts Mae off.
"Yes! More about the brains please." Kenji said with a chuckle.
"Right, so..." She began rambling again as Ben and Kenji almost groan in annoyance.
Sammy was too busy glaring daggers at Mae to care.
Forest
The four group members walked idly through the forest.
Brooklynn and Darius walked in front as Yasmina and Ali walked in the back.
Ali held Yasmina's hand as the trackstar blushed at first but ultimately smiled because she grew to like the feeling.
As they continued walking they all gasped as they realized another metal rectangle.
Ali and Yasmina separate their hands as the group examines the contraption.
"This is just like the metal rectangle in the desert, it's basically identical..." Darius trailed off.
Ali walked up to the platform as he tapped it expectantly.
"Are those...bones?" Yasmina questioned as they all gasped at the sight.
"It's a feeding platform..." Brooklynn trailed off.
"Oh, that sounds like fun, we should probably get out of here before we become whatever dinosaur's next meal." Ali said as no protest was made and they began walking back.
There was a small slope in their path as Darius was the first to the top.
He noticed Brooklynn was behind him as he offered her his hand in hopes of Brooklynn seeing him as a gentleman.
Brooklynn took his hand as he pulled her to the top.
"Thanks, Darius." She said with a smile as he blushed at it and rubbed the back of his head.
As they began walking again Darius had unconsciously rested his hand on Brooklynn's back.
Yasmina climbed up the slope as she noticed this and immediately smirked.
Soon Ali came after as he was about to blindly walk up to them and ruin their moment.
Yasmina panicked for a second before she grabbed him and pushed him against a tree.
"Yas, what are you-mph!" Ali's sentence was muffled as Yasmina kissed him deeply, he eventually closed his eyes and let it happen as she soon after released him and they shared a look of love.
Yasmina then backs up to let him get off the tree.
"Not that I'm complaining...because I'm most definitely not but...what was that for?" Ali asked in confusion.
"Nothing, I just felt like kissing the love of my life, is there a problem?" She questioned him as he scrambled.
"Uh...no not at all." Ali said as he raised his hands in surrender.
"Good." The trackstar said as she walked ahead slightly to follow their friends.
Ali could've sworn he saw her swaying her hips a bit too but he simply shook his head and ran to catch up with his girlfriend.
Cave
To say Kenji was being tortured would be an understatement.
Ben had left to use the bathroom five minutes ago, but it was clearly an excuse to escape Mae.
Kenji had called him a traitor but it didn't do much as Ben still left him for dead.
Sammy wasn't exactly helping either as she continued to ask very upfront questions, making his job ten times harder.
"So like, this is hypothetically the most amazing thing in the universe." He said with feigned enthusiasm as he held one of Mae's papers.
'Those guys better come back fast...I am running out of big words to use.' Kenji mentally stated.
"I know!" Luckily Mae wasn't the keenest when it came to fake feelings.
"We can anticipate their needs instead of just guessing and I really have to shut up because I'm not supposed to be telling you this." Mae rambled as she chuckled loudly.
Kenji faked a chuckle as he turned to Sammy with an expression of pain.
Sammy was still glaring irately at Mae to care.
"Okay, so that's what you're doing." The cowgirl said plainly.
"Hm? Don't know what you're talking about, these are just hypotheticals after all." Mae said as she winked at Kenji.
"So...hypothetically, what do your bosses want to do with your research?" Sammy asked bluntly as Kenji blanched at her.
"I can't say exactly...but it's safe to assume that once this research facility is up and running we'll be making scientific breakthroughs left and right." Mae reassured them as Sammy looked down slightly.
Kenji walked over to her as he hugged her.
"I hope you're right." Sammy said in response to Mae.
Forest
As the group were on their way back Ali and Yasmina found themselves behind Brooklynn and Darius again with their hands intertwined.
Yasmina watched at Brooklynn and Darius, who still had his hand on the pinkette's back, with a motherly gaze.
Ali noticed her gaze as the lights switched on in his head.
'So that's why Yas has been acting like this, she realized how much those two are in love...heh, it's kinda cute to see her acting like a mother.' Ali mentally complimented her.
"You're gonna make a great mother one da-ack!" Ali exclaimed as Yasmina squeezed his hand swiftly.
"What?" She asked as her voice hitched.
Before Ali can respond to her they hear a rustling sound behind them causing the entire group to stop and become tense.
"What was that?" Brooklynn questioned in a hushed tone.
"I don't know...and I don't wanna find out." Ali said as he grabbed Yas' hand and led her to hide behind a boulder.
Brooklynn grabs Darius and does the same as they all hid quietly.
They poked their heads out in order to see what it was.
The bushes rustled again as they gasped slightly.
If whatever it was didn't kill them, the suspense would.
Fortunately for them, their assailant was none other than their little Compy stowaway.
They sighed as the tiny green dino screeched.
"Seriously? He followed us all the way from the boat?" Brooklynn said in shock.
"Hate to say this but...at this point we gotta name this guy, he's not going anywhere anytime soon at this rate." Ali said with a chuckle.
"Wait can we actually keep him?" Darius questioned hopefully as Yasmina deadpanned at him.
Before anything else could be said a green light shines through the forest causing them to go on the defensive again.
They heard robotic whirring and metal clanking as the mysterious form drew closer.
As the lights got closer they realized it was a scanner of some sort which caused them to dock behind the rock again.
Brooklynn poked her head out slightly as she noticed a white dog-like robot emerge from the bushes.
"What the heck is it?" Ali questioned her in a hushed tone.
The superstar then notices the robot's foot was identical to the one in the desert.
"The metal claw from the desert...it was from one of these things." Brooklynn said as the rest of the group poked their heads out to see what she meant.
The machine's eyes went from it's default white to green as it scanned the area again.
The Compy screeched as it looked around in confusion.
The robot's eyes then glowed a menacing crimson red.
"Unauthorized lifeform detected." The machine said with a robotic voice.
It opened it's jaws as it charged up an electric weapon.
The campers gasped as they realized the Compy could get hurt.
Cave
Mae was explaining another thing to Kenji and Ben who had came back from the bathroom...allegedly ofcourse.
Her explanation was cut short however as her tablet began making a loud blaring noise that she hadn't recognized.
"Hm? That's a new sound." She said as she walked up to the tablet and noticed it was flashing red with a warning symbol.
The kids took this time to huddle up.
"I don't think she has any idea Mantah Corp is bad news...which makes them double evil lying liars." Sammy declared.
Before the boys could respond Mae began reading the warning aloud.
"Unauthorized life forms detected in sector four? Elimination protocol initiated, oh...that sounds extreme." Mae said with a small grimace.
"Um, how extreme are we talking here? Cool skater extreme or bad, life-threatening extreme?" Kenji questioned her.
"Something tells me it's not the first option Kenj..." Ben trailed off.
Forest
The robot had charged the weapon up all the way as the Compy screeched at it.
Before the dinosaur could move it was blasted to death.
The campers gasped in terror as they heard all this transpire.
The robot then began scanning the area again as they peered over the rock to see it.
Unfortunately for them the machine turned to them swiftly as it's white eyes locked onto their position.
The robot sent its scanners in their direction as they hid swiftly again.
Ali held Yasmina close to him as Brooklynn and Darius held eachother as well.
The robot crept closer and closer as their breaths became ragged.
As the bot was right beside them they gasped and almost shrieked as it's eyes glowed red.
"Oi!" Shouted the voice of Mae as this fortunately made the robot avert it's attention from the campers.
They let out breaths of relief as it walked up to Mae.
The droid scans Mae as she blocked the blinding lights from impairing her vision.
"Doctor Mae Turner, authorized lifeform." The robot said as it's eyes glowed blue.
"What can I do to assist you?" It questioned her.
"Never do that again for starters." She said as she gestured to the deceased Compy.
"You killed a Compsagnathus I could've studied! We don't have any on the island, why would you do that?" She questioned the bot.
"Primary directive is to protect biome ecostasis." The robot began as Mae gestured for the group that was in hiding to move while it was distracted.
They began crawling away from the scene.
"Unauthorized life forms pose a threat to biome ecostasis, back to patrol." The robot declared as it turned to go back to work.
"Wait!" Mae shouted as it faced her again.
This gave them just enough time to get away unharmed.
They then got up and ran over to Ben, Sammy and Kenji who were on the other side.
"Uh, nevermind." Mae said with a nervous chuckle.
The droid turned around with no words as it began patrolling again.
Mae then turned as she walked up to the group was celebrating being united safely.
"Thank goodness you're okay..." Mae said sincerly.
"Define okay." Kenji said as he crossed his arms.
"What was that thing?" Ben questioned frantically.
"That would be one of those BRADs I told you about..." Mae explained.
"Yea, but what about the part where they deep fry you for not being an authorized lifeform?" Ali said with air quotes.
"They were made to protect the island, I had no idea they did that." Mae said as she gestured to the Compy once more.
"You mean, killing?" Brooklynn questioned in disbelief.
"Let's get out of here, one of the BRAD scouts are about to come remove the Compy's body...back to the cave, no BRADs are allowed in there, you'll be safe in there." Mae informed them.
"Perfect, let's g-" Mae cuts Kenji off.
"Oh no, not so fast, you still have to explain why you lied to me and why you were out here in the first place." Mae said as they all deflated at this.
Cave
As the kids sat across from Mae they were in the midst of explaining their actions.
"After everything Mantah Corp said they'd do to my family...can you really blame us for not trustin you?" Sammy questioned Mae as she thought it over.
"No I suppose not...but the work I'm doing is good, how could understanding dinosaurs be bad?" Mae questioned them.
"Water can sustain your life just as it can take your life...sometimes good things are used in a way that you may not realize is bad." Ali explained as Mae was shocked by what he said.
Before she can respond she gets a notification on her tablet as the screen flashed blue.
"Drat! It's almost dinnertime." She said as she stood and began walking towards the exit.
"What? You orderin takeout?" Kenji questioned sarcastically.
"Dinnertime for the T Rexes...I get the rare opportunity to witness mother daughter eating habits...it's actually kinda sweet." Mae said as she opened the door and began leaving.
"Until I can figure out how to ensure your safety...you will all remain here." Mae said leaving no room for discussion.
"Stay away from killer dinosaurs and robots? Yea, no problem." Yasmina said with a flat tone.
And with that, Mae turned and left the cave.
Darius and Brooklynn look at eachother as they instantly clicked.
They both nodded as they made their way to the exit.
"Uh guys, I'm not exactly fond of that lady but I think it's safe to say we should heed her warning after what happened earlier." Ali spoke up as they stopped and turned to him.
"Yea I know but...we need to make sure what she's doing...isn't actually bad." Darius explained as he looked at the saddened Sammy, who was being comforted by Kenji.
Kenji then looks at them with a wary expression.
"Don't worry, we'll be extra careful." Brooklynn said as they turned and left to catch up with Mae.
"Okay so what do you guys suggest we do to past time?" Ben questioned the group.
Ali took note of Sammy's saddened state and decided it'd be best to give her and Kenji some space.
"Um...why don't we clean up from our meal guys." Ali said as Ben and Yasmina nodded and began helping him clean up.
Forest
Darius and Brooklynn were walking through the forest in the direction they saw Mae go.
As they were walking they were obviously on edge due to how creepy the forest was.
A small rustle is heard causing Brooklynn to yelp and cling onto Darius swiftly as his eyes widened at both the sound and her actions.
Luckily they notice the sound was only the result of a bird flying out of the bush.
After a few seconds of catching their breaths Darius realized they had yet to separate.
"Um...Brooklynn?" He asked with a shaky tone.
Brooklynn opened her eyes and realized the predicament, she immediately jumped back and began scrambling.
"Darius- I...sor-" Darius shushes her as they hear a robotic sound.
The two teens creep over to the sound as they noticed Mae kneeling on a ledge.
The doctor was watching at a feeding platform with a vast amount of meat on it.
A BRAD was tampering with the meat which puzzled Mae.
"Odd...the BRADs usually stay clear when it's feeding time." She mused to herself.
"So...do you ring a dinner bell or..." Said the voice of Darius causing Mae to gasp sharply and turn around.
She noticed the dino nerd and the superstar had crept up behind her as she rounded on them.
"What are you- go back right now!" She shouted in a hushed tone.
"Yea...I don't think that'd be the best idea right now..." Brooklynn trailed off as she gestured to the two T Rexes who had just stomped onto the scene.
"Shh!" Mae warned them as the dinosaurs stomped closer and closer to the meat.
Cave
Sammy was now using Kenji's chest as a pillow as she told him about her farm life to pass the time.
"What?! You really shot a deer when you were six? That's so awesome!" Kenji yelled excitedly as Sammy chuckled at him.
"Yea...I miss huntin with my papa and tio..." She said as a smile marred her features.
In the kitchen Ali and Yasmina were doing the dishes together as Ben had opted to sweep the entire base.
"I hate the feeling of the water when you squeeze the sponge...it's so aggravating." Ali complained as Yasmina chuckled at him.
"Just don't squeeze the sponge then." She said in between her laughter.
"I can't not do it! It's just like an annoying urge to squeeze it since it's so soft and squishy." He complained as her laughter intensified.
"You're such a dummy somtimes." Yasmina said.
"Yea but I'm the dummy you fell in love with so." Ali taunted with a smug expression.
"Says who?" Yasmina questioned with a smirk.
"Ohhh? We're playing dumb are we?" Ali questioned as he splashed her with some water.
"Stop!" Yasmina shouted playfully as she began giggling.
Yasmina never giggled around the others...she felt safe doing it around Ali, it was like he was able to change her entire personality by being himself.
Ali was enjoying Yasmina's laughter...he loved the trackstar's stoic nature but her laugh was so captivating...there's nothing he'd rather hear right now.
As if almost to spite him, the familiar beep of the cave door happens as the door opens drawing everyone's attention.
"What the hell? See I knew this was some damn ghost shit, but no, nobody listens to me-" Kenji was cutoff as Yasmina shushed him.
They then heard metalic steps as the shadow of a BRAD was seen approaching.
They all gasped at the sight. "She said they weren't allowed in here!" Ben shouted in terror.
"No time, hide now!" Ali shouted as everyone scattered.
Ben and Yasmina hid under a counter as Sammy and Kenji hid behind a wall.
Ali opted to hide by a rack of sports equipment Mae has setup.
The BRAD finally got to the room as it began scanning the area.
The droid walked up right next to where Ali was hiding as he was forced to make himself as thin as possible to avoid the light.
Thankfully the robot's sensor didn't catch him as it simply walked away from him.
Ali let out a breath he didn't know he was holding onto.
Unfortunately the BRAD then walked up to the counter Ben and Yasmina were hiding under as they began breathing raggedly at this realization.
The machine looked above the counter as it scanned for any unauthorized lifeforms.
Everyone tensed a bit as they realized the danger Yasmina and Ben faced.
Ali went into panick mode, he needed to think of something quickly.
He noticed the sports rack as he zoned in on a blue cricket bat.
'Hm...atleast granny has some good taste in color, this should be good enough though.' He mentally stated as he grabbed the bat.
Forest
Mae, Brooklynn and Darius all watched as the T Rexes, now dubbed Big Eatie and Little Eatie ate their food.
"Aren't they cute? You know Big Eatie always let's Little Eatie eat first." Mae said to Darius.
"I can't believe this is your job." He replied in excitement.
"Darius!" Brooklynn shouted in a hushed tone as she swatted his arm eliciting a small yelp from him.
The three then began watching the dinos eat again.
"See...how could any of this be bad guys?" Mae questioned them.
The universe was certainly not on her side, because no little than five seconds after she said this Big Eatie roared aggressively and struck Little Eatie with her large head.
Both dinosaurs began roaring and fighting savagely.
"What's happening?" Brooklynn shouted.
"Mae?" Darius questioned as the doctor fidgeted with the tablet.
"Their aggression levels are off the charts...I've never seen this before." Mae said as they returned their attention to the two warring titans below.
After a bit of headbutting Big Eatie bites down on Little Eatie's neck and pins her to the ground.
The younger rex roared in pain as she struggled to escape her mother's hold.
"They're hurting eachother..." Mae whispered.
"The pain receptors are...dark." Mae said as the dinosaurs' battle intensified.
"What is happening?" She shouted in disbelief.
"This has to be Mantah Corp's work...they couldn't just go from peaceful to this upset without something else happening." Brooklynn deducted.
"I have to call a BRAD to tranquilize them before they really hurt eachother." Mae said as she began giving commands to a nearby BRAD.
As this was happening Big Eatie was dominating the fight below still.
Cave
Ben and Yasmina were still trying to stay undiscovered by the BRAD that was literally in front of them.
The machine then gets on all fours again but fortunately doesn't face them.
Unfortunately it turned to the right at the wrong time and scanned the two kids.
They both gasped and jumped as it's eyes began glowing red.
"Unauthorized lifeform detected." It stated as it charged up it's blaster.
Yasmina and Ben gasp once more as they covered their faces.
However, before the BRAD can shoot the weapon it's head was taken clean off via a cricket bat swing my none other than Ali.
"Not today." Ali said as the body of the droid fell to the ground.
He then dropped the bat as Kenji and Sammy ran out and began cheering.
"Nice shot!" Kenji shouted.
"Are you guys alright?" Ali asked Ben and Yasmina who could only pant heavily in response.
They would need a few seconds to calm down.
Forest
The fight between mother and daughter was still raging on.
Fortunately after a few more lethal blows the BRAD Mae called came upon the scene.
The droid began releasing a sleeping agent from it's mouth.
The dinosaurs felt the effect almost immediately as they dropped to the floor and were sound asleep.
Mae was the first to make a move as she slid down and began checking on them.
She took note of the many cuts and scars they inflicted upon eachother during the conflict.
Mae hung her head low as she closed her eyes in grief.
The sound of metalic footsteps brought her out of her thoughts as she turned to the BRAD.
"Do you require anything else, Dr. Mae Turner." The robot asked.
Mae gave it a sour look. "No, thank you." She replied harshly as the robot obviously couldn't pick up on the tone.
It then turned and went back into the forest.
Darius and Brooklynn then slide down the hill as they breathed heavily.
Darius then walked up to Mae as she was still saddened.
Brooklynn opted to inspect something odd she saw in the meat.
She felt as though this was somehow her fault.
Mae sighed. "Come on...let's go." She said dryly.
"Hey! Dr. Turner!" Brooklynn beckoned her over.
"Is this marshmallow thingie usually in the meat?" Brooklynn questioned as she presented a white cube like object to Mae who took it from her.
"No...it's not." Mae said flatly as she looked around and noticed more of them scattered in the meat.
Cave
After they had calmed down, the others helped Yasmina and Ben from under the counter.
Sammy hugs them both tightly as they return it.
Yasmina then turns to Ali they instantly hugged eachother.
"Nice hit...didn't know you played cricket too." Yasmina said as they separated.
"Nah I don't, that's just the Caribbean in me." Ali said with a chuckle.
The others began laughing as well as they all joined together for one big group hug.
The small moment is interrupted as Mae opens up the door and walks in carrying the object Brooklynn had found.
She gasps as she noticed the detached BRAD head and body, the cricket bat and the group all standing in front of her.
"What happened here?" She asked sternly as Brooklynn and Darius ran up beside her.
"It came in a few minutes after you left...it was scanning all over the place." Kenji explained.
"I thought they weren't supposed to be in here? What happened to that?" Ali questioned as Mae looked down.
"They're not...I apologize for this but I really don't know why this is happening but...it seems you were right to be suspicious of Mantah Corp, Sammy." Mae said as Sammy gave her a small smile of forgiveness.
Mae then gained a determined look as she set the cube down on her desk.
"Time to find out what they're doing to my dinosaurs." She declared as the kids shared a look of concern at this whole dilemma.
