Cave, Dream
Mae sat at her desk as she used a microscope to inspect a small sample of the white cube.
She tried her hardest to concentrate whilst writing notes on what she saw.
"Mae! I need your help!" Kenji shouted from the table.
"Yes." Mae answered tiredly as she turned to the kids who were playing a game of poker.
"Does a full house beat four of a kind?" Kenji questioned as Ali groaned.
"Can you please tell him it doesn't." Ali complained since he was the one that put the four down.
"Sorry Kenj, not today, not ever." Mae said sincerly as Kenji groaned and threw his cards onto the table.
Ali smirked at him. "Finally, I get to win." Ali stated smugly.
Before Yasmina could make her move, Mae called out to them.
"Sorry to interrupt, but if anyone can round up some chestnuts I make a pretty mean soup." Mae bragged slightly.
"I'll go...it's getting kinda boring beating these guys." Yasmina said as she placed down four Aces and a three.
Everyone was in utter shock as their mouths hung loose.
No one was in more shock than Ali. "I...wha-" He scrambled as the others chuckled at his shocked expression.
"Dude, she owned you." Kenji said as Ali growled at him.
Yasmina began walking to the exit. "You coming or?" She questioned Ali as he sighed and walked over to her.
"Guess you won fair and square." He answered as they walked out together.
"Translation, I completely whooped you three times in a row." Yasmina boasted as she chuckled slightly.
Forest
The two teens walked past the waterfall as they prepared to pick some chestnuts.
"You have to teach me how you got so good at poker Yas." Ali said as she shrugged.
"It's just natural." She said as she knelt down to pick the nuts.
Ali rolled his eyes as he knelt down besides her with the bag they were going to use to carry them.
Yasmina looked at Ali as he picked some of the nuts.
'He's so handsome, I don't know how I'm this lucky to have a boyfriend like this...but one thing's for certain, Allah blessed me with him.' Yasmina mentally stated.
She was brought out of her thoughts as she noticed a black book on the floor to the left of her.
Yasmina gasped as she quickly realized that was her book...her sketchbook, but how?
"Yas? What's wrong?" Ali questioned her as she retrieved the book.
Now he gasped as well as he recognized her book.
"How the hell did this get here?" Yasmina asked as she opened the book.
The trackstar landed on a page of a woman that looked to be a older version of her as she gasped softly and touched the page.
Small tears began welling up in her eyes as she smiled.
Ali immediately put the pieces together as he hugged her to his chest.
"Is that your..." He trailed off.
"Yes, that's my mom...I miss her so much." Yasmina said in between sobs.
"I know the feeling...I've been missing my dad and my sister everyday." Ali said as he frowned slightly.
They stayed like that for a bit until they were alerted by a loud roar.
This caused them to spring up and get on the defensive.
"Wait...that sounded like..." Ali trailed off as an all too familiar face crept around the corner.
It was the Indominus Rex, in all her glory.
"No...this can't be happening." Yasmina pleaded.
Then suddenly, Toro and the Ceratosaurus from Nublar popped up causing them both to jump and turn to the assailants.
Suddenly another familiar cry is heard as they turned to see the Scorpious Rex climbing down a tree.
The monster then lunges at Ali with a cry as it began mutilating him, his bones crunched, blood splattered, and he couldn't even cry out due to the fact the dinosaur had ripped at his neck.
His blood had splattered so far that it covered Yasmina's and her clothes.
Yasmina began hyperventilating, there's no way she just witnessed her boyfriend's death to something they had long since killed.
'This can't be happening, no...no...no!' She mentally shouted.
The Scorpious then looked up at her with a malicious gaze as Ali's blood leaked from it's jaws, the trackstar fought the urge to hurl as tears ran down her eyes.
Yasmina was then alerted as all the dinosaurs present roared and lunged at her causing her to cry out in shock.
Real World
Yasmina woke up with a loud gasp for air as she dropped the tablet she was holding in the process.
She breathed frantically as she looked around the room to find she was okay.
She then looked over at the couch area to see all her friends sleeping.
Thankfully, her boyfriend was among those friends so he didn't actually get mutilated.
"Are you okay, love?" Mae questioned her as she was brought out of her thoughts.
"Huh? Oh...yea! I'm good." She tried to reassure Mae.
Mae turned to her with an expression that let her know she didn't buy it.
"I only asked because you gasped loudly, then dropped my tablet to the floor and startled awake." Mae said with a knowing smile.
Yasmina noticed what she had done and picked the tablet up.
"I'm sorry." She said as she handed Mae the tablet.
"No, look I appreciate you keeping an eye for BRADs but you should rest like your friends over there...even your boyfriend is resting, and he seems to have a surplus of energy...for a brat anyways." Mae ranted as Yasmina looked at them softly.
"Yea...we've been a through a lot...him especially." Yasmina said as she referenced the stitched up gunshot wound that adorned his chest.
"Yasmina...sometimes the mental pain hurts you more than the physical pain." Mae explained to her as the trackstar thought it over.
"Please just get some rest, it'll be good for you." Mae said sincerly.
"Thanks doc but...I promise I'm fine." Yasmina said as she rubbed her arm.
Mae sighed as she turned back to her work.
"Guess there's no helping it...might as well be useful if you're gonna stay up." Mae deducted.
"Hand me that petri dish." Mae instructed Yasmina as she gave her the dish with the cube on it.
Mae picked off a piece of the cube with her tweezers.
She then dropped it into a test tube that was filled with blue liquid.
As she shook the tube around allowing the cube to dissolve the liquid turned to a toxic green color.
"Is that...supposed to happen?" Yasmina questioned.
"Oh my...no, no, no this is bad...very bad." Mae said urgently as Yasmina frowned at this news.
Later
After a little while had passed the others woke up and were now standing as Mae explained what she discovered to them.
Ali was shocked when Yasmina had hugged him as soon as he woke up earlier.
He knew she was becoming more open with her feelings but that was new to him.
Even now when they stood at attention for Mae she was still holding onto his arm.
It wasn't annoying but it was certainly weird to see Yasmina behave this way.
'It's like she's scared she's gonna lose me or something.' Ali mentally stated.
Mae's voice suddenly brought him out of his thoughts.
"Okay, after careful analysis of the nutriment samples..." She began as she handed the tube to Brooklynn.
"I've discovered enormously high levels of receptor antagonists and adrenal additives..." Mae continued as Brooklynn passed the tube to Darius who passed it to Kenji.
"These must be the cause of the elevated combat states of the animals that have ingested them." Mae finished as Kenji arched his brow and passed the tube to Ali.
"Can we get that in simpler terms?" Kenji questioned aloud as Ali sighed.
"The white cubes make the dinosaurs want to tear eachother apart for no reason." Ali translated as he handed the tube over to Ben.
"Ah, well why didn't you just say that Doc-" Mae cuts Kenji off.
"Anyways, this is dangerous, these cubes are inhibiting the dinosaurs' ability to feel pain and they're going to get seriously hurt if this doesn't stop." Mae informed them.
Sammy fumed at this news as she almost knocked Kenji over since he was so close to her.
"Mantah Corp is the worst!" She exclaimed as she frowned deeply.
"Why would they do this?" Darius questioned as he handed Mae the tube.
"I have no idea...but it seems more important than ever to get you kids off the island." Mae urged.
"Finally, something we agree on." Ali said as Yasmina rubbed her arm anxiously.
"No argument here-" Kenji is cutoff by a dry cough escaping his throat.
"Kenj? Are you comin down with something?" Sammy questioned him as he cleared his throat.
'Damnit, real men don't get sick this easily.' Kenji mentally stated.
"Yea...yea, ofcourse why wouldn't I be, it's just something in my throat probably." Kenji said shakily as Sammy gave him a weird look.
"Great...struggling to get off yet another island." Brooklynn said dryly.
"Any ideas?" She asked the group as Darius walked forward.
"We'll think of something Brook, we always do." He reassured her as he rested his hand on her shoulder.
Mae gasped sharply. "The supply plane! The next one's not due for another ten days..." Mae trailed off.
"We can't wait that long." Yasmina spoke up with urgency.
"Maybe we don't have to...any way to make the plane come sooner?" Brooklynn questioned Mae.
"Well...I suppose it would have to come if there was some kind of emergency." Mae explained.
"Causing an unnecessary emergency? I think that's basically our signature at this point." Ali said with a smirk.
"I'm down for it, but how are we gonna do it?" Ben questioned everyone.
"If we stop the dinos from eating that messed up food, Mantah Corp would notice right?" Sammy questioned Mae.
"Maybe...we can kill two birds with one stone, get rid of the altered T Rex food and get the supply plane to come early." Darius said eargerly.
"Hang on...so we're just gonna get this supply plane to come all the while avoiding being eaten by killer dinosaurs or being zapped by killer robots, then we just sneak on board and hope that Mantah Corp doesn't notice seven kids on the plane until we're back home?" Kenji questioned with his voice rasping again.
"Um...yes? You say that like it's a hard thing, we do this all the time, no dinosaur or robot is gonna take us out, right Yas?" Ali questioned as he nudged Yasmina.
The trackstar's eyes widened as she looked at him with a wary expression.
She ultimately fakes a smile though. "Yea...we'll be good." She lied as they turned back to the others.
"Besides, do you have a better suggestion?" Brooklynn said with a deadpan as Kenji stared blankly for a second.
"Supply plane it is." He responded flatly.
"Great! All we need is a solid, detailed plan." Mae said as she began thinking.
They all watched as she struggled to think of something.
"Mae...I have an idea that could work." Darius spoke up.
"First, we'll wait until the T Rexes go to sleep, Mae, Ben and Yas will keep an eye on them and make sure they stay that way." Darius began.
"The minute they wake up, you guys will alert-" Yasmina cuts Darius off.
"Sorry, can I not be on dino duty." Yasmina stated as everyone looked at her in shock.
"But...you're the fastest." Ben spoke up.
"I know by like...a lot but, I stayed up pretty late last night and I could use a break." Yasmina lied.
Ali looked at her weirdly, Yasmina never liked breaks, something was up and he intended to find out.
Kenji then puffed out his chest from his spot besides Sammy.
"No prob, I'll be team dino-achoo!" He sneezed causing the Texan to back up and cover her face.
"Kenji! Are you sure you didn't catch anything?" Sammy questioned him as he covered his face as well in embarrassment.
"What? No chance, I'm a hundred percent all day everyday." He reassured her.
"Well that was something." Ali said as they all eyed Kenji suspiciously.
"Okay then...Kenji will keep an eye on the Rexes, meanwhile Brooklynn, Sammy and I will get rid of the altered T Rex food." Darius continued his plan.
"Finally, Ali and Yas are going to move in and disable the feeding platform, which will hopefully send a supply plane so that the BRADs can repair it, sound good?" Darius questioned them.
Everyone nodded. "Sounds pretty solid to me, let's do this." Ali said as everyone began leaving the cave.
"Good luck out there dino nerd." Brooklynn said to Darius with a small smile adorning her features.
Darius blushed slightly as he handed her a box.
They left with Kenji, Sammy, Mae, and Ben.
Ali was about to leave the cave until Yasmina grabbed his arm.
"Wait Ali...I just want to say good luck and please...stay alive." Yasmina pleaded as Ali looked her in the eyes.
He saw something he hardly ever saw in Yasmina's eyes...fear, but why?
"You know I will Yas...as long as I have you by my side I'm not going anywhere." The allstar stated sincerely as he pecked her lips.
"You ready?" He asked her as he offered her his hand.
Even though the nightmare was still eating at her the trackstar had calmed down a bit.
'He always knows what to say.' She mentally stated.
She took his hand and they began walking out of the cave.
Forest
At this point everyone had gotten into position.
Brooklynn, Sammy and Darius had already moved the contaminated meat.
Yasmina and Ali now moved in on the platform as they searched for the power box.
"I thought Mae said that there'd be some sort of power box nearby?" Yasmina questioned as she put her hands on her hips.
"It's around here somewhere...it's probably hidden." Ali said as they searched even more.
As they looked around Ali noticed a bush as he moved it away.
Behind it was the power box attached to a tree.
"Bingo, I got it Yas!" Ali shouted as Yasmina ran up to him with two rocks.
She handed one to him as they began slamming them against the power box.
After a couple well placed hits the box fizzled and short circuited.
They then turned to feeding platform to notice it had started fizzing as well.
They chuckled as they highfived. "We're unmatched." Ali said as they slid down to the platform.
Before they could celebrate further they hear loud footsteps and turn to see Kenji, Ben and Mae running towards them.
"Time to go!" Kenji shouted whilst running past the two teens, a loud T Rex roar sounded afterwards.
"What happened to keeping them asleep!" Ali shouted as he ran after the others.
Yasmina didn't know what it was, she thought Ali's words had calmed her down earlier...had somehow appeased her fragmented mind.
No...as soon as she heard that dinosaur's roar all of those thoughts came right back as she froze in her spot and stared at the direction of the roar frantically.
Her breathing became labored and her heartbeat was almost as loud as the stomps that were nearing her.
'Move! Move! Move!' Her mind was shouting as she slammed her fists against her leg.
Her body just wouldn't budge, she was quite literally paralyzed from fear.
Ali turned around as he noticed Yasmina was still standing there, his instincts quickly kicked in as he turned and ran back for her immediately.
"Come on Yas!" Ali questioned her as he grabbed her arm and began running with her.
The trackstar then finally got out of the fear trance as they ran to join the others.
Luckily it was perfect timing because Big Eatie didn't see them as they hid out of sight.
Everyone panted exasperatedly as they tried to calm down.
"Everyone good?" Darius questioned.
"Oh yea..." Kenji stated passive aggressively.
"I don't know the answer to that question." Ali said as he eyed Yasmina who was still panting frantically.
He knew something was up with her since earlier...but now his suspicions were confirmed.
Before the conversation could continue Mae's tablet gets a notification as she gasped, effectively drawing the group over.
"It worked! The plane will be here in three hours, with new food and replacement parts, you lot are almost home." Mae announced as the campers immediately lit up at the news.
They then began cheering and a surge of celebration erupted.
Brooklynn was next to Ali as they did their own little handshake and shared a laugh.
"Get over here." Kenji said playfully as he gave Darius a noogie.
"Take that Mantah Corp!" Sammy said enthusiastically as she shadow boxed.
Ben whooped as he did a little dance, without a single care in the world.
Everything was going well...however Yasmina found herself sitting against a tree dejectedly with her knees to her chest.
Ali had turned away from the celebration as he turned to her and quickly noticed her expression.
He made his way over to the trackstar and kneeled down beside her.
"Yas? What's wrong?" Ali questioned as he put a hand on her shoulder.
Yasmina looked up at him with a shaky expression...she seemingly opened her mouth to speak.
Unfortunately she was cutoff as a green light shined onto them.
"What the-" Ali cuts himself off as everyone took note of a BRAD's presence.
"Unauthorized lifeform detected." It said coldly as it's eyes glowed red and it readied it's weapon.
This caused the group to gain wary expressions.
"Stop! Stand down!" Mae shouted as she stepped forward.
Unfortunately the robot simply walked past her as if she no longer had authority.
"Command overrided due to unauthorized lifeforms." The BRAD stated determinedly as it advanced the kids.
"That...doesn't sound good." Kenji stated urgently.
"So shouldn't we be..." Ben trailed off.
"Elimination protocol activated." The BRAD stated as it's jaws opened wide.
"Run! Everyone run!" Mae shouted as they did just that, there were definitely no arguments against that plan.
As the group ran everyone sort of branched off.
"Keep left! The airlock for the supply plane is just up ahead!" Mae shouted to Yasmina and Ali who were directly in front of her.
They closed in on the airlock as the BRAD still chased them.
Unfortunately as they got to the door, it opened to reveal two more BRADs both set to eliminate the unauthorized lifeforms.
"Woah!" Ali exclaimed as he stopped abruptly whilst holding Yasmina back as well.
They both turn around to notice the other BRAD was still there.
"This way!" The voice of Mae shouted as she ran ahead of them to join the rest of the group.
The two then ran after her as the three BRADs gave chase.
"There's anothet airlock not far from here...the only challenge is to-" Mae is cutoff as Brooklynn gasps.
"Look out!" Brooklynn shouted as they were all alerted to one of the BRADs loading a shot up.
The group yelped as the shot was fired blindly.
She pulled Darius towards her as they all frantically avoided the other shots and kept on running.
"Split up!" Darius shouted as Brooklynn and himself went in one direction.
Sammy and Kenji went their own way as well.
Ali and Yasmina took a hard left as they kept running.
Ben and Mae stayed in the middle. "Just keep eyes on me!" Mae shouted to the others.
The BRADs split up as well to ensure no target escaped.
They continued firing shots as well.
One of them gets a bit too close for comfort with Kenji's hair.
"Hey! You can take my life if you want, but watch the hair!" He shouted.
"Come on Kenj!" Sammy shouted as she sped up.
Yasmina and Ali both ran as Ali held her hand.
He wanted to make sure he didn't get separated from her.
The allstar also wanted her to know he would protect her by any means necessary...especially now since she seemed to be vulnerable for an unknown reason.
The BRAD fires three shots that they both narrowly evade.
"Okay, that's enough, time to go on the offensive!" Ali shouted as they sped up a bit.
"Yas, when I give the signal...fake a right, okay?" Ali questioned her as she looked at him warily.
"Got it." She said shakily.
"One...two..." Ali began counting as he heard the BRAD's weapon starting up.
Yasmina whimpered as she heard it too.
"Three...now!" Ali shouted as they faked a right causing the BRAD to fire and miss then crash into a boulder, rendering it useless.
"Yes! Athletes for the win!" Ali shouted as they continued running.
Yasmina was still terrified but despite herself she couldn't help but smile at their small triumph.
Mae and Ben reach the airlock as it opens automatically and group comes back together.
"Quickly!" Mae shouted as everyone ran inside and she closed the door behind them.
They all took a second to regain their breaths as they finally had escaped their assailants.
Mae then actually locks the door so that the BRADs wouldn't be able to unlock it.
"Finally." Brooklynn said with a chuckle as she eagerly hugged Darius who returned it.
Sammy then attacked Kenji's cheeks with kisses, though there was definitely no complaint from the rich boy about this attack.
Ben puts his hands on his hips as he smirked.
Ali smiled at Yasmina who had a still expression.
He raises his hand to her for a highfive.
"We did good out there." Ali stated as Yasmina gave him a small smile.
She then raised her hand as well to give him that highfive.
Unfortunately, evil reared it's ugly head once more.
They all gasped as the doors began opening...as they fully opened the BRADs were all standing their poised to attack.
"You've gotta be kidding." Ali said with a deadpan.
"Run!" Darius shouted as they all yelped and began running again.
The BRADs immediately ran after them.
"I'm really beginning to hate these guys..." Mae said as they ran.
"Beginning?" Kenji questioned.
"I never stopped!" Ali shouted as they panted.
One of the BRADs then fired a shot as Yasmina barely ducked it with a yelp.
It however struck a pipe which released some steam.
"How do we stop the BRADs from following us?" Sammy questioned as they stopped at another door.
The steam gave the BRADs an even scarier effect because all that could be seen as they were approaching were their piercing red eyes.
"Okay that's just creepy." Ben said as they all wore wary expressions.
Brooklynn then turned to the lock as she gained a thought.
"I have a idea! You guys go on ahead!" She shouted.
"Are you crazy?" Darius almost shouted.
The BRADs got even closer, their bodies were visible now.
"Just trust me! I promise I'll be fine." Brooklynn said as she gave him a reassuring squeeze.
Darius thought it over for a second as he looked at Brooklynn and noticed her determination.
"Alright Brook, we're trusting you on this one." Ali said as they all ran through the door after Mae opens it.
"Heyyy! Unauthorized lifeform over here!" Brooklynn shouted at the BRADs who turned all attention to her.
She then got in front of the lock as she jumped around.
The lead BRAD shot at her as she ducked and jumped through the door with a grunt.
The shock destroyed the lock, which meant the BRADs would not be able to get through this time.
Brooklynn then stood up as she noticed her plan had worked...she also noticed how cold it was.
Darius hugged her swiftly as he was happy she didn't get hurt or worse...
Brooklynn returned the embrace before seperating and unconsciously grabbing his arm.
"Why is it so...cold?" Brooklynn questioned as they walked up to the others that were all shivering due to the frigid weather.
"I thought you said this was the way to the plane?" Yasmina questioned as she rubbed her arms.
"It is...after we get through this biome, it's cold but still uninhabited, except for us, we'll be safe." Mae informed them.
"Lucky us." Ali said as he huffed due to the cold.
"Great, we went from Jurassic World to Ark: Survival Evolved, I love our luck so much." Kenji said with a groan as he sniffled, this weather was definitely not helping with HIDING his sickness.
"I am definitely not dressed for this weather." Ben stated.
"No one told you to rip your clothes up Tarzan...I'd kill for my sweater back." Ali said as he loathed the fact it got lossed when they ran from camp.
Now he had to endure the cold with a basketball jersey and shorts.
"Ugh! Who cares! You guys need to lighten up, I've never even seen snow before...it's sooo pretty." Sammy said joyously as she stuck her tongue out to catch some snowflakes.
"Trust me...when you live in New York for as long as I have...the snow gets old real fast." Ali said as the cowgirl ignored the comment, nothing could ruin this moment for her.
Yasmina then walked up to Sammy and put a hand on her shoulder.
"You do realize that's Mantah Corp snow..." The trackstar stated as Sammy's eyes widened in terror.
The Texan then grunted as she sputtered...guess the moment was ruined after all.
"Pretty or not...none of us will last very long out here." Darius informed the group.
"Yes we will...we've got these." Mae said as she pointed out two vehicles to them.
The kids all lit up at this news...except Ali who was in utter disbelief.
"Those have been there for the past five minutes...and you just have us freezing out here for no reason?" He almost shouted as Mae rolled her eyes and began walking to one of the vehicles.
"Do you ever stop complaining? Let's go." She stated dismissively as Ali growled.
He then muttered something as the group walked towards the vehicles and began splitting up.
Ben and Mae got into the same vehicle as he opted to ride in the back.
Brooklynn, Darius, Sammy and Kenji got in one as Ali went to join them.
Just as long as he didn't have to ride with Mae...he then felt someone tug on his arm.
The allstar recognized his girlfriend...she seemed almost...distraught in a way.
"Can you ride with me?" She questioned him as he looked at Mae who gave him an indifferent look.
Ali now had to choose, his own comfort, or his girlfriend's comfort.
He then looked at Yasmina again...the pain in her eyes made the choice clear...no matter what problems he has with Mae, he was going to be there for Yasmina.
"Please? I don't mean to be annoying it's ju-" Ali cuts Yasmina off.
"No, no you're definitely not being annoying, I'm glad to ride with you." Ali said as Yasmina blushed and smiled a bit.
He then sat down in the passenger seat as Yasmina sat on his lap.
This was a bit awkward for both of them but the need for comfort made both of them ignore it.
With that, the vehicles took off with Brooklynn driving one and Mae driving the other.
As they drove Kenji rubbed his arms profusely.
Sammy rested her head on his shoulder as she slept soundly.
"We're gonna be home soon guys." Darius said as he shared a fist bump with Brooklynn.
"Can we please get that heat turned up all the way?" Kenji questioned Brooklynn.
"Just relax, think of some place warm, maybe Sammy's arms?" Brooklynn questioned him as his face was stained with a deep blush.
"You-" Kenji is cutoff by Darius.
"I got ya Kenj." Darius said as he turned the heat up.
"Ahhh...thank you so much." The rich boy stated.
In Mae's vehicle things were a bit silent.
Ben was in the back looking out the window and Ali and Mae were being...themselves.
Yasmina slept soundly in Ali's arms...though her face did scrunch up a bit unbeknownst to him.
"You know...for a brat you are a pretty good boyfriend to her." Mae stated abruptly as Ali turned to her slowly.
"I'm sorry...? Did you just give me a compliment?" Ali questioned her.
"Don't make me regret it." Mae said with an eye roll.
Before anything else can be said Yasmina suddenly jumped out of her sleep with a deep gasp, effectively alarming Ali and Mae.
Ali tightened his grip on her as she shook violently.
"No!" She shouted in a fearful tone as Ben and Mae gained wary expressions.
"Shhh, it's okay Yas, I'm right here...don't worry, no one is going to hurt you when I'm around." Ali whispered into the trackstar's ears as she began calming down.
She thought over the events of her dream from this morning...Ali protected her but at the cost of his life, she didn't want to die but she certainly didn't want to live on without him.
Her body was still shaking a bit but it was not as violent as before.
She then fully calmed down as Ali released his grip slightly.
"Feel better?" He questioned her as she nodded slowly.
"Yas...are you okay love?" Mae questioned her as Yasmina turned to her.
"I...I." Yasmina began shakily as she looked around.
"It's nothing...I just felt a little car sick..." She lied as Ali and Mae both did not buy into her fake smile.
"That didn't seem like..." Ali cuts himself off as he noticed something moving in front of them.
This caused Yasmina and Mae to look as well.
"What the hell is that?" He wondered aloud.
"Pierce...?" Mae questioned as she slammed on the brakes.
This caused Ben to lurch forward a bit and startle awake.
The others stopped as well as everyone took in the sight before them.
A red dinosaur with spikes protruding from it's body stood before them as it bellowed loudly.
"What is that thing?" Kenji questioned Darius.
"Don't worry Kenj...it's just a Kentrosaurus, it only eats plants, those spikes are purely just for defense, but he should most definitely not be out here..." Darius trailed off.
With the others, Mae had just exited the vehicle as she made her way to the dinosaur.
"Pierce? What are you doing out here?" Mae questioned the dinosaur as she slowly made her way towards him due to the strong winds.
She then began checking his vitals and emotions using her tablet.
Inside of her vehicle Ben, Yasmina and Ali watched as this transpired.
"I'm not going crazy right? That is a giant pointy dinosaur standing in front of us right?" Yasmina questioned them.
"Nope, you're definitely seeing right, but this guy doesn't seem to be enjoying the icebox." Ali deducted.
Before the conversation could continue, Pierce collasped causing them to gasp.
At this moment everyone except Yasmina and Ali got out and began walking towards Mae and Pierce.
Yasmina had not moved...she couldn't...thus Ali couldn't move either.
"Um Yas? You kinda have to get up for us to you know, go help our friends." Ali said as she was brought out of her thoughts.
"Right...sorry." She apologized as she unbuckled her seatbelt and hopped out of the vehicle.
Ali didn't question her hesitation as he hopped out as well.
They then ran over to the others as they quickly noticed the distressed outlook everyone had at the downed Pierce.
"He's gone into hypothermic shock, I've got to get him out of here somehow...or he'll die." Mae said as Pierce bellowed in pain.
This raised a large amount of uncertainty for the group, do they help the suffering dinosaur or do they keep pushing to the supply plane?
Ali was heavily conflicted...he wanted to help Pierce, ofcourse he did, the pain in the dinosaur's eyes was just unbearable, but they'd missed out on too many chances to go home due to risking everything for dinosaurs.
Their minds and bodies had been through so much pain and suffering already.
This decision would be hard, but his thoughts were leaning towards booking it for the supply plane.
Before he could speak up, Yasmina raised her question first.
"What about the supply plane? It will be here in under an hour." She stated.
"Yas is right, you kids take the gliders and keep going, I'll figure out how to get Pierce back into the desert biome." Mae stated.
"You can't move a four thousand pound dinosaur by yourself!" Darius exclaimed in disbelief.
Ali could not believe it...he would not believe it, Darius couldn't possibly be thinking about stopping to help the dinosaur when the supply plane was almost here...
"How about some of us go stall the plane, and some of us stay back and help?" Brooklynn suggested.
"No!" Ali shouted as everyone turned to him due to the outburst.
He then began speaking in a lower tone.
"We all have to go now, there's no way to stall that plane unless we risk getting caught and questioned by the crew...and we can't stop to help the dinosaur, we have to get off this island, come on guys...haven't we been through enough?" He questioned as everyone minus Darius and Mae began looking down in sorrow.
"You know we can't do that Ali...we have never put our needs in front of a suffering dino...why should now be different? Let's just move fast and we can get there in time, I promise, is it a deal?" Darius asked as Ali grit his teeth and tightened his fist.
Yasmina suddenly taps his shoulder as he looked at her...she shook her head at him, he could tell she shared the same sentiment as him when it came to their survival mattering more but she didn't want to cause a diffusion.
Ali took a deep breath and calmed himself down.
"Deal." He said curtly as Darius smiled at him and then turned to Mae.
"We're in." Darius said as everyone thought it over for a second.
"Sure, I'm not gonna let Mantah Corp hurt one more creature." Sammy said firmly.
"And I'm with you no matter what, you're stuck with me." Kenji said with a smile, which Sammy quickly returned.
"If something like this ever happened to Bumpy I'd wanna help her." Ben added in.
Brooklynn then walked over to the Darius as she took both of his hands into hers and looked him in the eyes.
"We may be on another freaky dino island, freezing our butts off in an arctic biome but we're still Camp Cretaceous." Brooklynn stated sincerely.
Everyone then turned to Ali and Yasmina.
Ali stared blankly at the others as Yasmina put her hand on his shoulder.
"We got you doc." The trackstar said firmly.
Mae smiled at them fondly, these kids definitely had pure hearts.
Both groups got back into the two gliders as they drove through the snow.
Pierce was riding behind them on a platform they strapped up to the back of each glider.
"How's he holdin up back there?" Mae questioned Ben.
"He's still in pain but he should be fine once we get him out of here." Ben informed her.
In Brooklynn's glider Kenji and Sammy were checking out Pierce.
"Is everything alright?" Darius questioned them.
"Yup! The dino is-achoo!" Kenji sneezed as Sammy jumped back.
"Kenji! I'm seriously worried about you? Are you sure you're not sick?" She questioned him.
"I swear I'm not! Scouts honor." Kenji lied as she sighed at him.
"Right...well try to keep your not sick germs to yourself please? Thanks." Brooklynn said with a smile as Kenji deadpanned.
Back in Mae's glider Yasmina held onto Mae's tablet, she was quickly alerted as the tablet lit up green.
She looked at the notification as did Ali, who was essentially her seat right now.
"The supply plane is here!" She informed them.
"Damnit..." Ali said begrudgingly.
Before they could say anything else the glider is jostled by an unknown force, which caused the lights to flicker a bit and elicited a gasp from the group.
Then suddenly they hear something latch onto the roof as electricity crackled.
Ali looked up to notice an electric bullet...that no doubt belonged to a BRAD.
The bullet began messing with the vehicle's motor functions as Mae was left frantically trying to fix it.
Brooklynn stopped her glider too as she quickly noticed the bullet on the roof of Mae's.
"You've gotta be kidding me." Kenji said with a wary expression.
Yasmina then noticed a BRAD running towards them with it's eyes glowing red.
"A BRAD!" She alerted the other passengers in her glidrr.
"Cease operation immediately!" The BRAD yelled as it ran towards the gliders.
Ali then turned to Mae who was still frantically trying to get the glider going again.
"Okay granny, you're gonna have to get this thing going again, and fast!" Ali shouted as Mae chose to ignore his comment as she slammed her palm against the dashboard.
This unexpectedly jump started the vehicle as it regained power.
Mae then began driving again as did Brooklynn.
The BRAD however was still on their trail as it ran after them determinedly.
As the droid sped up it ran alongside Mae's glider.
"Unauthorized lifeforms! Unauthorized lifeforms!" It exclaimed.
"Do these things ever shut up?" Ali questioned aloud.
Mae frowned deeply as she veered the vehicle to the right a bit causing the bot to back off slightly.
All of the commotion caused Pierce to get agitated as he slammed his tail spike into the ground.
This caused the vehicles to jostle a bit as they all exclaimed.
They were able to make the BRAD collide with a snow bank.
"The airlock's straight ahead!" Mae shouted.
"Move! Move!" Ben shouted.
"Come on! Just a little faster!" Brooklynn exclaimed as they pushed the gliders as fast as they possibly could.
The BRAD had recovered from the snow bank as it quickly caught up with them.
The control stick then shook out of Brooklynn's gasp as the vehicle jostled again, eliciting a yelp from the campers.
"What was that?" Kenji shouted.
"We're on a frozen lake!" Sammy shouted as she looked outside.
Both vehicles were hard to steer, which caused them all to yelp as they rocked from side to side.
They were feeling the effects of this in Mae's glider as well.
"I hope this lake can handle all this weight..." Ali said as parts of the ice cracked revealing the liquid water beneath it.
The BRAD then charged up an electric bullet as it shot it towards their glider causing it's power to cut off.
They all grunt as they stopped abruptly.
This caused the other glider to stop as well for obvious reasons.
They then looked out the back window as he noticed no sign of the BRAD.
They could definitely not take a deep breath because the BRAD leaped up causing them all to yell out in terror.
It then fired three more bullets at the window.
Luckily the window was reinforced so the glass was not penetrated.
Yasmina shook as she breathed heavily.
Ali could almost feel her heartbeat from her back with how hard it was beating.
They both gasped as the BRAD popped up besides their window.
"Unauthorized lifeform detected!" It shouted as it readied it's tazer.
Both teens gasped once more as they looked on in fear.
Yasmina then gained an unexpected urge to move as she grabbed onto the door handle.
'He's always saving me...it's my turn.' She thought as she opened the door and shoved the BRAD off of the vehicle right into the icy waters.
Yasmina breathed heavily as she was shocked by the hug Ali gave her from behind.
"Nice shot!" He shouted as everyone began cheering.
"Yas! Yas! Yas!" Everyone minus Mae chanted, the trackstar smiled at this.
"Um guys, you still have to get to the airlock..." Mae informed them as the realization kicked in causing them to stop chanting.
"Right..." Brooklynn said as they started the vehicles up and began driving again.
"That was still awesome." Ben said to no one in particular.
"You can say that again." Ali responded as he failed to notice Yasmina looking out the window with a traumatic expression.
She just did something heroic and brave...yet she didn't feel like a hero...she felt like a scared, weak, little girl all over again, just like when-
"Hey Yas, that was some pretty quick thinking, everyday you make prouder that you're my girlfriend." Ali said as he pecked her cheek.
The trackstar was still a bit shaken up, which Mae noticed but she still smiled at the allstar as they made their way to the door.
Once they got inside Pierce was now standing up.
Luckily the hallway was heated because their bodies were still chill to the touch.
Pierce bellowed as Mae and Darius touched his face.
"He'll be fine, once he warms up, now get out of here! You've got a plane to catch." Mae said as she ran with them to the exit.
"Finally, we can agree on something." Ali said as they opened the door.
"Goodbye Dr. Turner, be safe out there." Darius said as he smiled at her and ran off.
Everyone else minus Ali ran off with their own respective goodbyes.
"Hey." Mae said curtly as she stopped him.
Ali turned to her with an arched brow.
"Yea?" He questioned her as she sighed.
"Look, I know we don't see eye to eye but...we can both see Yasmina is struggling with something and even though you're a royal pain in the neck of a brat...you're a good boyfriend for her...she feels safe with you, just promise me you'll be there for her, Ali." Mae said as she gave him a small smile.
Ali was taken back by this...not only did she say his actual name, but the woman who seemingly despised him just gave him a compliment.
"Thank you, and I promise to keep her safe, goodbye Mae." Ali said as he returned the smile and ran off to join the others with a huge smile plastered on his face.
As Mae watched him get further away, she couldn't help but smile.
"Not bad...for a brat." She said to herself with a chuckle as she turned around and headed back to Pierce.
As Ali caught up to the others his smile quickly became a frown.
They all heard the sound of the plane's engines as it flew up in front of them.
"No! Wait! Hey come back!" They all shouted individually as they waved in hopes of trying to get the plane to come back.
"It's no use...they're not coming back." Ben said solemnly as they all deflated.
Ali dropped down to his knees as he slammed his fist against the grass.
"Damnit!" Kenji shouted as he swung his arms in frustration.
"This sucks!" Yasmina shouted as she dropped down next to Ali and began sobbing.
The allstar's anger was quickly replaced with a look of hurt and anguish as he witnessed his girlfriend crying her eyes out.
He didn't know what else to do in that moment other than hug her head to his chest as she sobbed into it.
He didn't care that her tears were wetting his chest, this was his duty.
Sammy gained a wary expression from her spot next to Kenji, her best friend was hurting.
"What do we do now?" Brooklynn questioned Darius as she walked up to him.
"Look guys, I know this isn't what we wanted but we did the right thing...right?" Darius questioned them.
Ali grit his teeth so hard that he was fortunate they didn't shatter.
How dare he ask a question like that...due to them stopping for Pierce they were left stranded and alone...again.
The allstar however did something he didn't often do, he did not voice his opinion...he instead opted to support his girlfriend during her time of need.
Darius smiled shakily as nobody could give a response.
Brooklynn sighs heavily as she walked over Darius and grabbed his hand.
"You know what...let's go back to Mae...no sense sitting here dwelling on this." Brooklynn said as they began walking back to Mae.
Ben, Kenji, and Sammy followed them as Yasmina still sobbed into Ali's chest.
Kenji then sneezed loudly as they stopped for a second.
Sammy gasped hysterically. "I knew it! You lied to me Kenji, you are sick!" She shouted.
"Okay I am sick, alright! I just didn't want to seem weak in front of you." Kenji said solemnly as they began walking again.
Sammy stared at his back with a wary expression, she couldn't help but feel like this was her fault for telling him about her dad.
Yasmina and Ali were now alone...the allstar sat silently for a bit as she continued to cry.
"Yas...we've ran from it all day, nobody's around anymore, please...tell me what's going on, I just wanna help, it hurts to see you like this." He finally spoke up.
Yasmina's eyes widened slightly...she'd never thought of Ali as a heartless guy but he hardly ever shows vulnerability or weakness in his tone.
However, he sat here with her in his hands, pleading to her, this definitely made her comfortable enough to tell him what's been happening.
"Ali I...I've been having nightmares." She finally revealed as his eyes widened a bit.
"They've been recently getting worse...and this morning was the worst one because you...you died in it." Yasmina continued.
Ali was now in complete shock, so this was why she's been like this all day.
"Yasmina, I understand nightmares can get vivid and scary but like I said...I'm here and I'm not going anywhere, I will always protect you." He declared as she looked him the eyes.
She could see the determination, he was not lying, but she still had more to say and...Ali just made her want to pour it all out in one go.
"T-Thank you so much Ali, but I don't think I'll ever be the same again...even if we make it home, I thought everything would be better once we got off Nublar but here we are...still being hunted, by robots now! Like dinosaurs weren't enough." She said as her voice trembled.
"Yas...I know what you're going through, you're not the only one who's been having nightmares." Ali explained as she looked at him again.
"I always dream that I let you guys down somehow, some dinosaur is chasing us and I watch as you all die, I can't do anything to save yall like...I just won't move." Ali explained to her as his voice hitched a bit.
Yasmina was left in shock...she wasn't the only one going through this, that was good but...how did Ali possibly hide it this well?
She'd decided to ask him about it later.
"I understand saving Pierce was the right thing to do but...stopping and helping dinosaurs cost us getting home, again!" She shouted as her tears flowed wildly.
Ali couldn't say anything...he was mad about that too, he knew Darius just wanted to help but it was still aggravating.
Yasmina then buried her head into his chest even more as her sobbing intensified.
"I'm just tired! And I miss my mom." The trackstar wailed as Ali sighed.
He felt so helpless as be started into the sunset...
'Some boyfriend I am...' He mentally berated himself.
There has to be some way for him to fix this, but how?
