Kalyug

Sakshi giggles at Preeti and Archana, her roomies as she opens a brand new box of the Ouija board. Tonight these three college girls decide to finally do something they have all been craving for the past few weeks.

They live in an old girl's hostel behind their college campus. They study at St. Thomas College, pursuing . Although many girls in their hostel have claimed some sightings of ghosts and haunted noises, Archana was the unbeliever of all three girls. She blew off them when Sakshi challenged her to call spirits, in a hope to contact some dead celebrities. They were best friends, so they decided to test their luck. Together.

Sakshi has bought a new Ouija board from an old stationary bookstore. It is 3 am, day or night they couldn't debate much, but for them it's the devil's hour. The ideal time to call the spirits.

"Yar Sakshi!" Preeti croons as she carefully places the four candles on each side of the board. "Are you sure, we will be alive after the session?"

Sakshi and Archana roll their eyes. Preeti is the constant whiner of the group, warning and whining to not play this game.

"Oh come on, this is probably not going to work! Yeh sirf filmon me hota he!" Archana huffs as she lights a cigarette.

Preeti gasps, "Archana, stop it! warden maam is going to smell the smoke!" She whines.

"Dude, not a single soul is awake now...time dekha hai! It's 3 am!"

"Still, I have read in blogs about the Ouija sessions; if you want to call good spirits, you have to have a pleasant smell around!" Sakshi takes the cigarette out of Archana's mouth making her frown,

"Bro, who told you a cigarette, smells evil! Besides, I want to call Michael Jackson and I am sure the cigarette smell will not bother him!" she takes it back from her clutch.

At that, the three of them snort silently before shushing each other to not let their warden know what they are planning to do for the thrill.

"Okay girls, ready?!" Sakshi takes a deep breath. The two of them nod in unison. "Okay hold the planchette with your finger"

The three girls held the planchette and closed their eyes.

"Any holy spirit please contact us!" Sakshi chants, and the other two girls repeat her words.

They start moving the planchette in a circular motion. The planchette was moving slowly under their control for approximately ten minutes until one candle began to flicker rapidly. The fans are off; windows are closed so it kind of is absurd for the candle to suddenly flicker like this. They felt something odd and opened their eyes. The four candles start to flicker as if some strong wind is forcing them to blow out.

"Sakshi!" Preeti whispers, "Why are the candles doing disco, ya?" her nasal voice squeaks as her eyebrows twitch in fright.

"I don't know yar!" She whispers, "Is there any spirit that wants to contact us, please give us a sign!" She calls out loudly. The planchette starts to randomly move around the board.

"Sakshi? Are you doing this?" Archana furrows her eyebrows, suspiciously eying that the planchette that was going around a few seconds ago is now randomly forming an infinity or a horizontal 8 sign over and over.

Sakshi shakes her head.

Preeti suddenly freaks out, "Yar let's not play na, I am having a bad feeling about this!"

"Fattu!" Archana groans, "I think we are being too scared, let's not freak out and call Michael Jackson!"

The planchette starts roaming around the board faster now. They all could feel some spark as the planchette started to glow hot due to the friction.

Scared, they take their fingers out. As they take their fingers away. The planchette hasn't stopped moving and going due to the friction caused by the board the sparks are forming. one of the candles falls on the floor; lighting up the board. They look scared and huddle away from the board.

"Omygod! Sakshi, what is going on?" Preeti shouts.

"don't shout!" Sakshi and Archana warn as they run to the other side of the room.

"oh freak, the hell gate is open!" Preeti starts to weep.

"Shut up Preeti! Go bring some water and throw it on the board before the room burns down!" Archana wails.

As they watch in horror the board starts burning with high flames. The window of their room breaks open as sudden lighting strikes from the window on the flaming board. The lights of the room go out. The girls start to scream at the top of their lungs, as they see someone standing where the fire was a few moments ago. A tall figure emerges out of the white light that came through the window. Sakshi, Preeti and Archana were petrified to the core.

The bright light came out of the enormously tall figure. It didn't look like a ghost but they were sure it was some spirit.

Everything happened so fast that they couldn't see when suddenly the lights of the room were back on. The girls, who were hiding behind the couch peek out to see a tall young man, looking around the room. He looked around and spotted the three girls who were frightened to the core, behind some strange-looking cushiony chair.

The man looked apprehensively at them, thinking if he was in some sort of dream or something. He squints his eyes to understand and see but his body begins to give up on his conscious mind; his big eyes shoot up and his tall body hits to the ground. The girls scream as they see the man hit the floor unconsciously. Running out of the room to their balcony they shut the door of the room that was adjacent to their balcony to not let the 'entity' out.

The girls start to shush each other as they don't want to wake the warden ma'am.

"Tum dono ko maine bola tha! This is a bad idea! Ouija board is dangerous!" Preeti whimpers.

"Oh shut up!" Archana pants, "Yeh koi bhoot nehi hai! Ouija sessions are all fake!"

"I don't know, mujhe dar lag rha hai!" Sakshi cries. "warden maam ko bula yar!"

"Are you mad? We will get rusticated for sure! If not possessed!" Archana groans.

"what are we going to do then?" Sakshi asks,

"Ander chalte he!" Archana suggests, "I think it has gone!"

"no way! I am sure he will eat us!" Preeti panics.

"Shut up Preeti!" both the girls scold.

After a few more moments of bickering the three girls agree to gather some courage and go inside the room to see what just happened.

Huddling together they timidly tip-toe inside, hoping to not see anyone. To their dismay, the strange-looking man was still there, lying unconscious on the floor of their room.

Already freaked to the core, they had no other option but to understand the situation. The girls slowly surround the man. They lean in to see and study the intruder. To their surprise, the man did not look at them like any ghost. Nothing spooky. Rather he looked too divine and beautiful for an average human. His huge body and innocent young face with long luscious hair and striking appearance. his eyelashes were big enough to give supermodels complexities. His attire though didn't look real. Rather it looked like he was some sort of king. Silk white dhoti and an ample amount of gold jewellery all over him. A white silk shawl covering his rather bare upper body.

His feet were naked, and he had earrings that were studded with big pearls. He is breathing normally; chest rising up and down which only indicates, he is a human.

Archana and Sakshi take out cricket bats and broomsticks to protect themselves. They nod at each other before going over to the man.

Preeti the frightened soul, decided to retreat herself to the other corner of the room while her roomies investigated.

"Sakshi!" Archana whispers, gulping the lump down her throat, "Yeh bhoot to nehi lag raha, bro?"

Sakshi shook her head as she tilted her head to study if the ornaments the man wore were real or fake.

"to yeh kaun he?" Archana asks.

"Michael Jackson?" Sakshi shrugs, twitching a smirk.

Archana stares at her, "It's not funny!"

Sakshi clears her throat, "Let's dig," saying this she timidly takes her cricket bat and nudges the man's left arm. The armlet the man was wearing clinks as the person begins to stir gradually. The girls gasped loudly and inches away from him. Preeti takes a cushion, covering her eyes as she trembles in fear.

The man groans loudly before opening his eyes. Archana and Sakshi gulp as they look at each other.

The man slowly supports himself over his elbows as he raises his head to look over at the girls.

He opened his mouth to say something, but his voice was hoarse. He starts to cough. The girls, though terrified to the core, felt the need to help him.

"Archana!" Sakshi mutters her breath, "Just give him some damn water!"

"pagal he kya? Bhoot he woh!"

"bhoots don't cough! Retard!"

Archana rolls her eyes before going over to the fridge; getting a bottle.

She comes back and hands the bottle to the man. He looks at the bottle strangely.

"Yeh kya hai, devi?" That man couldn't look straight out at Archana she was wearing shorts.

"Devi? Dude quit your acting and drink up!" she hisses. The man looked confused for a second.

"Ap mujhse kya keh rahi he?"

Archana groans, "Oh god! Kya mazzak hai!" she thrusts the bottle onto his lap and plops on the bed. Sakshi didn't look convinced enough to let her guard down, yet. "who are you?" She rather asks.

Archana rolls her eyes. Whereas Preeti finally felt a little confident and scooted beside Sakshi, still covered behind her.

"Mujhe shama karein, par ap kya keh rahi he mujhe kuch gyaat nehi!" the man carefully explains. His voice was soft the words were rolled out slowly making it sound melodious.

Archana's eyebrows twitched as a thought came to her mind.

"Aha! Got you! Tum Sam ho na? Mere ex-boyfriend Danny ka bhai!" she sprinted next to her friends as she looked smugly at him.

Archana begins to laugh hysterically. Sakshi and Preeti looked confused. The man looked horrified again; he might pass out again thinking these girls were Rakshasis.

"Seriously!?" Archana starts to chuckle. "I can't believe this!"

"Archana?" Sakshi begin, "Tu kya keh rahi he?"

"Dude, he is an imposter, zaroor koi dare mili he mere ex ko...tabhi apne bhai ko bheja hai!"

The man gulps, nervously, finally comprehending a word out of all the words spoken by the 'rakshasi'.

"Bhai... Bhrata Bheem...Ap unki baat kar rahe he?

The girls look at him, "Bhrata bheem?"

"ji, main unka anuj hoon!"

"Archana, tere ex ka naam Bheem hai?" Sakshi asks, innocently.

"Are you stupid? Yeh bhi koi naam he kya aj ke time me! Yeh to Mahabharata-"

The three girls did a retake this time.

"ek minute," Archana looked carefully at him, "ttum kon ho?"

"Main Pandu putra Arjun!" the man rolls his name carefully.

The girls blinked at him before bursting out laughing.

The man was sure these girls were not humans.

"Seriously, ram leela to dushere me hote hai, abhi to April ka mahina he!" Preeti giggles.

"Ap kanyao ko main kis prakar se uphas karne wala lag rha hoon?" the man mutters.

"Seriously, tum ab acting band karo! Or btao kitne ki shart lagi?" Sakshi held her hands over her hips.

He hits his palms over his temples, taking a deep breath.

"Main narayan ki saugandh khake keh raha hoon ap teeno se, main uphas nehi kar rha!?"

Archana rolls her eyes, "or hum manle? Tumhe pata bhi hai tum kya keh rahe ho?"

He shakes his head.

"dude, this is 2023. Tum dwapar yug se kalyug kaise aye?"

The man's eyes widen as he jumps up to stand, startling the three. Sakshi and Preeti take the abandoned weapons (bat and brooms) out. Again!

"AP ap kya keh rahe hai?" he looked agitated. "Main kalyug me kaise agaya? Main to guru dronacharya ke ashram..." then he starts to think something. Whereas the three girls start to think the man is some sort of crackhead.

He gasps. "Mujhe ashram jana hai!" he looked baffled and scared.

"Abe konsa ashram?!" Archana looked frustrated.

"humare guru, guru Dronacharya! Unka ashram!"

"Dude, yeh kya bol raha hai! This is Gurgaon...not Guru Ka Ashram!" Archana looked frustrated.

Sakshi furrowed her brows, "Ap kya sach me Arjun ho?"

"Sakshi, girl, he is freaking lying!" Archana grumbles.

"Apko main kaise vishwas dilau, ap mujhse dhanur vidyao se sambandhit prashn puchiye...mujhe shastra vidyao se sambandhit bhi prashn puchiye! Main apko siddh kar dunga main hi Arjun hu!"

He looked dead serious and genuine. The girls were in dilemma. Archana was not; she still thought was some sort of imposter doing some stupid prank with good special effects.

Sakshi gulped, "Ap please pani peejie!" she handed the water bottle to him.

Archana looked unconvincingly at him.

He was confused, "kya yeh jal hai?"

The girls nod.

He smiled, confused still. He looked strangely at the bottle; smashed the bottle with his hand to open it and started drinking. The girls's jaws almost hit the floor.

"Abe, cap kholke pina tha!" Archana face palmed.
