Chapter 2: Recognition

"H-Holy shit… I-I can't believe we actually did that…" Jaune whispered, the fear and realization finally hitting him head on. The blonde had managed to convince his friends to agree to perhaps the craziest thing he'd ever thought of… and he'd cheated his way into Beacon, so that bar was set pretty high!

After their 'debut' during dinner, the five boys had managed to sneak away from the cafeteria. Sun's clones had helped keep the rest of the student body locked in the room from rushing them, in what Jaune could only guess was retribution for their terrible performance and disturbing dinner without any warning.

They had barricaded the door to Sun and Neptune's room, it was the only place Jaune would be welcome that nobody would think to look for him… Jaune had been quite confident in the decision… until he recalled that his peers would probably want revenge against Sun and Neptune too, for being a part of the spectacle.

The blonde leader of Team JNPR sat on one of the beds, pondering how best to apologize to his friends for making them go along with something so absolutely-

"That was amazing!" the blonde monkey Faunus yelled in excitement. He stood in the middle of the room, his arms raised in triumph.

'Amazing?' Jaune was left dumbfounded. He stared at the Faunus with the brilliant smile on his face, he seemed even more chipper than normal.

"I have to agree with Sun on this… that was substantially better than I thought it would be…" Ren cut in, standing next to his team leader. He appeared to be thinking about something, a barely visible smile upon his face. The last time the knight had seen this particular expression on his friend, Ren had been trying to convince Jaune to try one of the noirette's infamous health drinks.

Neptune sat down on the bed next to Jaune. He smirked at the boy, nodding in agreement with the two.

Jaune looked to the last member of their new group, in the hope that he wasn't the only sensible one around. Mercury was leaning against the far wall, an odd look on his face… As if he was considering something very important, most likely their performance a few minutes ago.

"M-Mercury?" Jaune managed to choke out.

The boy simply glanced to the side, before he opened his mouth; "I can't believe I'm about to say this… but that was pretty cool…" he admitted, his stoic voice betraying nothing.

'Are they serious?' Jaune couldn't help but wonder if perhaps it hadn't been a complete failure after all.

"I know, right?! We just went out there and killed it!" Sun proceeded to imitate the way they'd danced back there, putting his right hand close to his face- like he was holding an invisible microphone.

Jaune couldn't believe that they'd all managed to follow his movements, without fail! Sun, Neptune, and Ren had managed to copy him to the letter! …and Mercury was simply crazy, his footwork was AMAZING!

Jaune had enjoyed years of practice, dancing with his sisters, but they had followed his steps as simple as that- Well, they were huntsmen-in-training, after all!

The knight was about to add his own comment, when a furious knocking at the door snapped the group from their talk.

Sun moved to open the door. It WAS his room, after all… The Faunus readied himself to face the consequences of their actions, possibly detention (with more punishment to come after). But it was all going to be worth it, if it helped out his new friend!

Sun glanced back to his bandmates, when they all nodded, he opened the door. The second he did so the door slammed open, nearly hitting him, someone walked inside in a hurry.

"Close it! Quickly!" Sage shouted, darting inside with Scarlet right behind him.

Both teens slammed the door shut, leaning against it for good measure, before signing in relief.

"Um… what's up, guys?" Sun asked, genuinely worried by his teammates' behavior. "Don't tell me that you both had dates with two different girls, at the same time…" the blonde teen prompted, one eyebrow raised.

Sage was the first to glance up at his team leader, a bit of anger on his face. "Wha- do we look like Neptune to you?" the stern boy shot back, glaring at his friend.

"Hey! I'm not that bad… right?" the blue-haired boy interjected, his voice weakening as he spoke.

"Never mind that!" Scarlet cut them off, staring towards Jaune. "You! What did you do?!" It came across as more of a statement, than a question.

"M-Me?" The blonde Arc wasn't sure how to respond to the angry pretty-boy, but an odd sound coming from the hallway interrupted his thoughts on the matter. It sounded like an army marching off to war, or something similar.

"Crap, they found us!" Sage cursed, bracing himself against the door to keep the enemy at bay.

"To be fair, our room is pretty well known to most of the students… the girls, mostly…" Neptune felt the need to add with a smirk, the rest of his team glaring at him.

From behind the door, the teens could hear a few dozen hands pounding on the metal that separated them from the hall.

"There's no time to waste, you guys need to get out of here!" Sage bellowed, he struggled to hold the back tide. "What are you waiting for!? Just get out of the window, or-" Before he could finish his warning, the door he was leaning on flew off its hinges… and it took the boy with it.

"Sage!" Scarlet moved to help his partner up, when someone walked right in and stepped on the door that was pinning the boy to the floor.

"Well… looks like I got the scoop before anyone else did!" crowed a confident, familiar voice.

"Wait… you're Coco, right?" Neptune asked, staring at one of the most well-known girls in Beacon (and someone he was still trying to get a date with).

Said fashionista strolled into the room, a big smile on her face. Right behind her was a Faunus girl that Jaune instantly recognized as her teammate.

"Oh, hey Velvet… what are you guys doing here?" the blonde band leader asked.

His casual tone spurred both girls to stare at him, Coco moved closer. "Ah, so you're the famous Jaune I've been hearing so much about… Funny, Bun never mentioned how cute you are in person…" the older girl teased, a smirk upon her face.

"What?" he replied, the girl moving even closer to him.

Before Coco was able to touch Jaune she was suddenly pushed to the side, her teammate moving to stand in front of the knight. "Just ignore her Jaune… if I can call you that?" Velvet squeaked, a bit of red on her cheeks, she pulled out her scroll. "Now, if I could just talk to you for a few moments…?"

The rest of the people in the room simply stared at the scene before them in shock… then, to what was left of the door.

"Um… okay? But, why do you sound so formal?" the blonde teen questioned, obliviously ignoring everything else in the room. "Also… I think you crushed Sage over there-" Jaune pointed at the broken door she'd been standing on moments earlier.

"He's fine!" Velvet insisted, moving even closer to the boy. "Now, what do you have to say to your fans?" she prompted, her eyes shining with glee.

"Um… my what? Velvet, what are you-" the young Arc began, cutting off upon finally noticing why the rest of the people in the room had been so deathly quiet. His eyes widened, when he noticed the sheer number of students standing in the hallway. The second he'd spotted them… they started screaming.

"I love you, Jaune!" shouted a redheaded girl.

"I'LL be your Weiss!" offered a blonde, even louder.

"You light my fire!" declared a purple-haired girl.

Soon the hallway became a mosh-pit of yells and screams, all mixed together.

Jaune stared in disbelief at what was happening, Velvet pushed her scroll even closer to his face.

"So… what's it like to be famous?" the rabbit Faunus asked, smiling all the while.

'I'm famous?!' the blonde boy yelped silently.

X-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-X

The white-haired girl had been too shocked to stop that accursed Arc from embarrassing her in the cafeteria. She'd only snapped out of her funk when he'd finished his so-called singing, preparing to rush towards him and end his stupidity; once and for all, for the good of Remnant! …only to be stopped by the rest of the student body, who had cheered and chased after him. 'Idiots… all of them!'

Since she'd been delayed, Weiss had chosen to rush to her room and grab her weapon. She'd literally run inside his room… only to find it completely empty (besides a few, stray students that had attempted to find him as well).

'Damn it! So, he isn't hiding HERE…' She took a long, shaky breath before sitting on one of the beds inside JNPR's room. 'Whatever… he'll have to come back here, at some point… And when he does…' She smiled menacingly, inspecting the tip of her weapon. Weiss' rapier was sharp enough to kill a Grimm in a single hit.

And that blonde IDIOT was less sturdy than any Grimm SHE'D ever seen… even if he was louder and more obnoxious than anything else in all of Remnant!

Before she was able to descend any further into her grim fantasy, her scroll suddenly rang. The sound snapped her from her thoughts and, with a short huff, she glanced at the caller id and answered.

"Miss Schnee, do you have a moment to talk?" asked the familiar voice of her manager.

"Hello Jorge… unless it is important, I'm afraid that I am going to be a bit busy for the immediate future…" Weiss answered. She'd already vowed that the idiot wouldn't be able to sing (or even talk) ever again. This time, not even Pyrrha (or Ruby) would stop her!

"I'm afraid it IS important, very much so!" her manager insisted, Weiss heard something playing in the background.

It made her blood boil, it was Jaune's voice… singing that accursed song.

"How did you-" she hissed, before Jorge cut her off.

"Know about it?" he asked, before continuing. "This video was uploaded by some of the students present… To tell you the truth, I don't recall ever seeing so many people interested this quickly since… well… ever, really!" The man sounded so excited, far too much for Weiss' tastes!

"Really now?" she replied calmly, her hand tightening around the small device so much it began shaking.

"Definitely! I was wondering if you could perhaps introduce that young man to me?" he requested, a pleasant smile on his face. "I might have a business opportunity for him-"

Weiss instantly hung up the call, throwing her scroll away. It hit the wall- but (sadly) didn't shatter into a thousand pieces, as she'd hoped it would. Those things were WAY too sturdy! …although that was probably the point, considering it was carried into battle against monsters.

She sighed before moving from her spot, picking the small device up off the carpet. She opened her browser, searching for the video her manager had spoken of… It didn't take long, she'd already found several of them. All captured from different angles, clearly by the students who'd been inside the cafeteria at the time. They must have chosen to use their scroll cameras to light up the dark room… before the insanity had begun in earnest.

"Birth of a Star?" Weiss whispered, reading the video's title. It had been uploaded by someone named 'Copy-Bun', not that she recognized who that was.

Scrolling down, she started reading some of the comments… there were WAY too many of them.

'Where the hell is this?! I need to go there, now!'

'OMO! I'm in love!'

'Instant fan, right here!'

'Holy shit, is this Beacon?'

'Don't care where, but I need to be there for the next show!'

'Can confirm this is footage from Beacon Academy! People on the Beacon forums are saying this was a group of freshmen that took over the cafeteria and gave a surprise performance! I'll leave a link, if you want to check out the discussion.'

'The name Weiss sounds familiar, for some reason… anyone know who that is?'

'I'm pretty sure it's Weiss Schnee…'

'The singer? I heard she quit to become a huntress, or something… That, or she lost her talent.'

'LOL! With a performance like this, it's no wonder she gave up! She probably had to pay to even STAY famous!'

Weiss's eyes narrowed in anger as she kept reading the comments, most of them were from someone called 'Cool-trumpet'. He kept calling her talent-less… and worse.

"This is all that idiot's fault! I should have broken that stupid guitar on his face, the first time he tried to pull this stunt!" The more she kept thinking about Jaune, the more her anger grew. …and what was all this nonsense about having no talent?! She was, and still is, a GREAT singer! Her reasons for quitting were her own! Who would have the GALL to peddle such nonsense!?

"I'll show them… I'll show them all!" the small girl declared in anger.

A few minutes later, the rest of the members of Team RWBY had returned to their dorm room. The first ones had been Yang, with Blake next to her. A few seconds later their team leader entered, having been lagging behind. She appeared busy, checking her scroll for something.

"Hey, Weiss Cream! Did you have a nice meltdown, while we were away?" the blonde berserker teased, her smirk wide.

"I have no idea what you mean…" the white-haired teen answered, doing her best to remain as calm as she could. Weiss was better than someone who would snap at the smallest thing… even if it WAS Yang.

"I'm sure you don't…" Yang drawled, seemingly unwilling to buy her excuse. At least, if her expression was anything to go by.

Ruby walked by her sister and teammates, simply climbing up to her bed and looking at her scroll.

"Did you find him?" Blake asked, staring at Weiss.

"Find who?" the heiress responded neutrally, knowing full well who she'd meant.

"Vomit Boy, obviously… Don't think I didn't notice how you rushed out, when the performance ended…" Yang shot back with a shit-eating grin.

"I was only going to congratulate him. …and no, I haven't found him yet… there were too many in my way…" the small girl hissed.

Yang shrugged. "Well, I wouldn't worry about it too much… I mean, it was cool and all… but you'll get your chance to 'congratulate' him when he shows up. I mean, his room is LITERALLY right in across from ours!" She pointed her thumb behind her, to emphasize her statement.

The boxer had a point, but (sadly) Arc hadn't returned yet. His room was surrounded by his so-called 'fans', though they slowly started to disperse as the seconds ticked away. 'Idiots, all of them…'

Suddenly, there was a knock on their door. Weiss jumped, reaching for her weapon. Yang opened the door, staring at their guests in surprise.

"Hey guys, what's up?!" the blonde girl asked , Pyrrha and Nora entered the room.

"Have you girls see Jaune, or Ren?" the redheaded spartan asked in worry, glancing around.

'Ah yes… Ren ALSO played a part in this vile scheme…' Weiss vowed that she'd make him suffer as much as the blonde idiot did, or maybe Weiss would just sick Nora on him.

"No, the last time was in the cafeteria during their little show…" Blake admitted. She found herself very interested in the two girls of Team JNPR, going as far to put the book she'd been reading down. "Didn't the two of you know about the show beforehand?" the Faunus asked.

"No, we didn't! If I did, then we TOTALLY would have made some signs and banners for our boys!" Nora shouted, honest as always. Her response proved that it had only been the boys who were responsible for the… atrocity. They really WERE idiots…

That… that gave Weiss an IDEA.

"You know…" the heiress began, "I'm honestly surprised you two are alright with this…"

"Of course we are! Ren and our fearless leader were so awesome!" the orangette declared.

"Y-Yes…" Weiss nearly sneered. "They sure were… But, what I meant was that I'm surprised you two aren't worried about this 'band' of theirs…" The two girls looked confused, Weiss elaborated. "I mean… you've seen the reaction of the other students… especially the GIRLS~"

Both Pyrrha and Nora glanced at each other, now a bit worried at the prospect.

"I can only imagine what those other women might do… Follow them around, ask for their autograph… Honesty, I think I even overheard some of them talking about asking them out…" Weiss lied. While she'd made most of that up, if nothing was done, it was only a matter of time.

"W-WHAT?!" both girls bellowed in shock and (in Nora's case) anger.

"Oh my, I'm only stating the obvious here… I can only imagine what the boys will say, when so MANY different girls want to… get to know them a little better…" the white-haired girl knew that she had the two teammates exactly where she wanted them.

"Nora needs to break some legs… starting now!" shouted the girl, ready to head back to her room and grab her hammer. She had a furious look upon her face, one that promised pain to anyone in her path.

Pyrrha simply looked panicked, it was no secret that the champion had VERY strong feelings for her partner. If only she had acted on them by now, perhaps this whole thing would never have happened…

Weiss paused a second, before continuing to guide her friends along. "I mean… it's not like you can simply tell them to STOP… That would be so untactful for a teammate- no, for a friend to say…"

Both Nora and Pyrrha glanced at one another in clear worry. On the one hand, if they didn't then their male teammates would become wildly popular and be taken away… However, on the other hand, they didn't want to earn their ire for being selfish.

"It really is a shame, that they don't understand what it feels like… If the two of you formed a band of your own and showed them… made them jealous…" The white-haired teen smiled at them. "You know, now that I think about it… I was considering resuming my singing career…"

Partway through her sentence the two girls gazes instantly shot to Weiss, their eyes nearly bugging out. "Can you help us?" Pyrrha asked, Nora nodded quickly.

Weiss simply smirked, 'hook, line and sinker!' She nodded faintly. "Well… I suppose I could assist you. I was planning on simply doing this on my own, but if you insist…". The heiress calmed the two girls down, ordering them to make sure their room was clear so they could all have a meeting there. However before she was able to follow the two girls, the white-haired teen was stopped by the teammates words.

"Damn Weiss-cream… never knew you could be so manipulative… I'm kinda impressed" the blonde berserker of her team chided.

Weiss had been so focused on getting Pyrrha and Nora on her side, she'd forgotten that the rest of her team had been around to hear the 'sales-pitch'. "I have no idea what you mean… all I did was offer to lend a hand to two of my friends. I'm certain you would have done the same, if you had my experience on the matter."

"Right… and you riling up both of them was… what? A public service?" the blonde boxer asked, her no-nonsense tone implying she wasn't buying any of her teammate's excuses.

"I beg your pardon? None of what I said was a lie… Besides, you've seen how the rest of our classmates responded to that little performance… It really IS only a matter of time before some poor fool asks Arc out" the heiress reasoned, making it clear that she had technically told the truth.

"Sure, whatever… But still, why make it seem like it was such a big deal? I mean, what's the harm?" Yang challenged, shrugging at Weiss taking this so far.

"Oh? So you mean to tell me that if RUBY was interested in them, it wouldn't bother you at all?" Icy blue eyes stared at lilac colored ones, daring her to argue.

Yang simply shrugged, wearing her usual (cocky) smile. "Weiss-cream… I think you are taking this WAY too personally-"

The smaller girl strode past the blonde boxer, now standing next to her team leader's bed. "Ruby, could you please help me talk some sense into this sister of yours!" Weiss called out, only a few feet away from the reaper.

Ruby didn't answer, it didn't even look like she was a part of their conversion. 'Was she even listening to us at all?' Weiss addressed her partner once more… only to see the scythe user busy with her scroll, giving it her utmost attention.

Even Yang wandered closer in wonder, what could be so interesting that it was keeping her sister occupied? "Ruby, what's up?" The blonde noticed that the girl had her earbuds in, smiling at her scroll's screen.

Without a second thought, Yang grabbed the wire and yanked it out. She'd meant to pull one of the earphones out and grab her attention.

The result was that, as soon she pulled it, the connector that was attached to the scroll popped loose- the device instantly returned to speaker mode.

"Tell Me Weiss!" the all too familiar voice of Jaune Arc echoed in the room on full volume, as if the boy was right in the dorm with them.

"Wha- YANG!" Ruby shouted, finally noticing what had happened. She instantly tried to stop the video- or, at the very least, silence the device. After a few seconds of fiddling, the scroll fell quiet. The small reaper was pouting intensely, staring down at her sister. "What gives, Yang?! If you wanted something, you could have just touched my hand or poked me! You don't need to just-just… do that!"

Ruby was getting a bit too upset, for something so small. Yang recalled that the only times that her little sister had gotten so annoyed in the past was if there was some issue with her so-called 'baby', or anything that caused her cookies to vanish.

"What's the big deal? Anyways, me and Weiss here wanted to ask you something-" the blonde started to say, hoping to help her sister's bad mood dissipate by giving Ruby something to do.

Before she was able to ask anything, Weiss grabbed Yang's arm and pulled her away. "Just ignore her Ruby, go back to your scroll…"

The ice queen closed the door, both girls having exited the room. "What was that about, Weiss? I thought that you wanted to check for yourself" Yang asked in annoyance, unconsciously mimicking her sister's tone.

"I believe I already proved my point just now.." Yang glanced back at the now-closed door to their room. "You saw, firsthand, just how angry Ruby was when you interrupted her time with Jaune's band…" Weiss argued. In reality, it had been a stroke of luck that her partner had been listening to HIS 'song'. In actuality, the heiress had only wanted to ask Ruby something… but this? What an incredible stroke of good fortune, MUCH better for proving her right!

"C-Come on… you can't be serious Weiss-cream, she was just angry that I pulled it-" Yang tried to justify.

Weiss didn't give her a chance to calm down. "I see your point… then I suppose the only way to make sure is to simply wait and see…" The small girl looked away. "I do hope that you're right about that… I wouldn't know what I'D do, if I found out that MY sister had some silly crush on Jaune- of all people…"

The white-haired girl simply moved across the hall, entering JNPR's dorm room after a few knocks on their door. Yang being successfully dealt with was the only thing left, to make her plan a reality.

Both female members of Team JNPR sat on their respective beds, talking to one another, falling quiet the second Weiss entered the room.

"I take it that you haven't change your minds in the meantime?" she asked, the two stared at Weiss for a few moments before the redhead replied.

"What took you?" Pyrrha asked, a bit of suspicion in her voice.

Weiss had to fight to keep the smirk off her face. "I was simply demonstrating that what I feared, was starting to happen…" She noticed their confused expressions. "Ruby has already been infected, becoming a… fan. She even snapped at her sister over it…" Weiss explained, her tone carefully calculated, she watched her friend's worried faces. 'Just a little more, to make sure…' The heiress shrugged. "I wonder if ANYONE can hold out, when Ruby flashes them her puppy-dog eyes… With her being their friend… it would probably prove too much for ANYONE to handle…"

It was the crucial argument that seemed to REALLY hammer her point across. Just then, the door opened once more. Yang stood at the entrance, her face serious. She stalked closer, "tell me the plan…" she growled.

And that's done!

Don't forget to tell me what you think!
