Hey everyone!
first off to all of you who commented! Thank you all!

Hi everybody,
It's been a while since my last update. I just wanted to inform you that I am still writing even though in the last few months I have not been able to concentrate much due to the war and the situation in my country. It's hard to find the time to just sit down and write something happy with everything going on outside that has been so awful.
I have already accepted that the situation will not improve in the near future and am simply writing to try and get something good out of these bad times.
I will continue to update as much as I can and try to respond to everyone who sent me messages and knows the situation from my side.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new chapter.

Chapter 4: A New Band?
Jaune felt a bit uncomfortable with the odd looks he was getting, sitting in the cafeteria had never been so alien to him. Oh well, considering what had happened recently, it was pretty much guaranteed.
It was already dinner time, a few hours after both his interview and the time he'd spent with Ruby and Ren.
Next to the blonde Arc was his best friend… and newest fan. Ruby kept gushing about how awesome it was to have a famous best friend, but Jaune wasn't sure if Weiss felt similarly. After all, the white-haired heiress was a literal celebrity herself.
On his other side sat his male teammate Ren, who for once was enjoying a brief spell of peace and quiet the likes of which he hadn't seen in years. Obviously, he cared deeply about his orangette childhood friend. But every now and then, Ren would appreciate not having to listen to nutty dreams and demands for pancakes. He really ought to thank Jaune for his crazy idea at some point. 'So, this is what having male friends is like…'
On the other side of the table was a smiling Sun, who was simply hanging out with his unofficial 'team'. Next to him his best friend Neptune, who was busy chatting with some girl that had approached him. Everything was pretty much normal, as far as he was concerned.
The only member of their band who wasn't present was Mercury, who was currently busy with his team. Jaune recalled that he'd been the only one to keep his cool after their first performance.
The stray thought reminded him of what Ruby had asked not two days ago. 'When is your next performance?' Jaune hadn't been sure of what to say at the time, but he knew for a fact that the rest of his band had been really into it. Not to mention the people online Ruby had showed him, who were also eagerly waiting for the next big show.
Now… how was he going to admit to them that he hadn't really planned that far ahead? Jaune was also considering giving up on Weiss, maybe trying to date someone else if the whole song thing didn't work out.
He was reluctant to simply throw in the towel on the first girl he'd ever really liked… Recalling his dad always telling him and his sisters that an Arc never gave up, no matter what, only annoyed him more.
But at this point, Jaune was just dragging everyone around him into his silly antics. He was about to say something, just to get it off his chest, when his thoughts were cut off.
Suddenly the lights powered down completely, the area now illuminated solely by the broken moon. A large, glowing white glyph materialized above the center of the room before a huge block of ice appeared above the tables. The students underneath it scurried away, trying to avoid getting squashed, as the block slowly descended before landing with a loud thud that shook the cafeteria.
Everyone fell quiet, only a few confused murmurs drifting about. Someone started running at the ice, a blonde girl who jumped as high as she could. Releasing a loud battle cry, and with her gauntlets armed, she punched the center of the ice and made the whole thing explode.
The resulting blast covered the entire room with white mist and small shards, everyone turning away to protect their eyes. After a few moments the mist began to fade, the crowd noticing a stage had replaced the block of ice. The students dared hope as faint music started to play.
Almost the entire student body rushed to find the best seats they could, before pulling out their scrolls and hitting record.
Ruby gushed as she pulled on Jaune's arm. "OMO, are you preforming right now?!" the small reaper asked, jumping up and down, clearly too excited to think.
"Ruby… you can see all of us here… So, unless our missing Mercury is performing solo, it's not us…" Jaune explained, the obvious question occurring to him. 'If it's not us… then who-' his silent question was cut short as everyone could now see a small silhouette in the middle of the stage.
When the last of the mist cleared the shadow was revealed to be Weiss, although she looked different than her usual bland white self- completely different. This new Weiss was dressed in all black, with ripped black stockings, a few rings, earrings, as well as a black tiara with golden tips perched upon her head. She wore a short, dark skirt almost identical to Ruby's that seemed to imply everything. The most striking change however was her jet-black hair.
She let their stunned looks linger for a few seconds, before she opened her eyes and stared ahead, her lips parted.
"Finally… you've given me… a reason to be strong…" her voice echoed in the room, carrying her words to everyone. "And we'll stand… hand in hand…" her voice started to pick up both in volume and intensity. "…till the end!" she finally yelled as loudly as she could, as booming guitar music began.
A spotlight cut in behind Weiss, illuminating the busty blonde boxer of Team RWBY. Yang was also dressed in black, wearing ripped jeans and a low hanging metal belt, as well as spiked bracers on her arms. Her hair, still just as vibrantly blonde and untamed, swayed from side to side as she played on her guitar.
Seconds later another guitar cut in, an additional spotlight shining upon Pyrrha in a gothic dress paired with long black stocking. Her fiery red hair was set in a braid over one shoulder, adorned with gold all over it.
As soon as the redheaded Spartan started playing, a busty orangette girl appeared behind the three others busily smacking a set of drums, adding herself to the mix. Nora was wearing a mix of black and pink clothing, a small red heart on her chest.
The music continued, all four girls playing in perfect harmony, as Weiss continued singing. "Tell me why! Tell me why! Tell me why! Tell me why! I DON'T NEED YOU!" she sang even louder than before, all while pacing the stage and drinking in all the shocked faces staring at her.
The girl kept singing until the song came to its end, Pyrrha and Yang playing in sync.
The cafeteria remained silent for a moment, before it erupted into loud cheers. Weiss simply looked over the crowd, focusing on a certain location, before turning around and walking away. All the while Yang and Nora waved to the roaring students, sporting big smiles.
Ren glanced around alongside the rest of his bandmates, they looked at the surprise concert and then to each other. Only now did they notice that their founding member, Jaune, was gone.
'This can't be good…' Ren mused.
X-=-=-=-=-=-=-X
Ren had made his way to their team's dorm, aiming to find his team leader. Joining him was Sun, as both Ruby and Neptune had remained in the cafeteria.
Ruby had opted to stay behind to talk to both her sister and her partner, hoping to get some answers. Neptune had simply rushed over to congratulate the ex-white-haired heiress on her stellar performance… Sun would have words with his partner later.
"So, what do think Jaune will do?" the blonde Faunus asked, walking next to Ren.
"I'm not sure… I can only hope it won't be something drastic…" the pink-eyed boy responded.
Sun couldn't help but ponder how his new friend would react. Had he run to his room to work on another song? Did he go there to cry in response to the scathing lyrics of the Ice Queen's song? 'She did shout "I don't need you" really loudly, that's pretty harsh-' His thoughts cut off as they entered the room to find Jaune sitting on his bed, his back to the door.
Sun, being the ray of sunshine and total bro he was, instantly approached the leader of Team JNPR. "Jaune, I'm sorry about Weiss… But don't you worry about a thing, we're all here for you… Maybe we can even help you find a different-" he cut off when the sitting blonde turned to face him.
"Worry about what?" the young Arc asked, his friends staring at him.
"I knew it…" Ren muttered, one hand moving up to grab the bridge of his nose.
The blonde Arc was wearing a headband with the Schnee logo, as well as a shirt with 'Weiss Love' splattered on it.
"Jaune… my man… bro… dude… what the hell are you doing?" the blonde Faunus asked, clearly both confused and concerned.
"What does it look like? I'm going to show Weiss my support! So, if you'll excuse me…" Jaune was about to exit the room when two hands stopped him from touching the door handle.
"You can't be serious…" Sun moaned, Ren was just happy he didn't need to be the one to say it out loud for once.
"Why not?" Jaune asked, sounding confused. "My whole goal was to woo Weiss… so I'm going to go impress her-"
"Impress? You think this…" Sun pointed to his shirt, "is going to impress her?" The other blonde put an arm around Jaune's shoulder, pulling him in. "Listen… don't you think it's odd that Weiss completely stopped preforming ever since she came here?"
Ren's eyes opened wide. While he understood where Sun was coming from, he was worried that the blonde Faunus would say something to hurt his team leader. But if this was his angle, then at least it would save him a lot of headaches later.
"Because she wanted to be a huntress, obviously…" the young Arc responded.
"Exactly! You're right on that man… but then why did she do that whole gig just now? All those outfits, the stage…?" the blonde Faunus prompted.
"Not to mention that she somehow roped Pyrrha and Nora into it… and performed in the very same place we did…" Ren added, understanding where Sun was going with this.
Jaune seemed conflicted for a moment, letting his two friends talk.
"She wanted to challenge us… to challenge you…" Sun explained.
"To challenge m-me? Why? She's already so amazing and-" he was about to go off on another annoying speech concerning Weiss' many virtues when Ren cut him off.
He'd already had the joy of listening to it before, countless times… he'll be damned if he listened to it again. "She wanted to show you what she's interested in… Weiss doesn't need another fan, just another faceless person in the crowd… she wanted someone to challenge her…" Ren would have felt bad about lying to his friend, if it didn't save him a lot of frustration in the future.
"So… that's what I need to do?" The blonde teen moved to his drawer, pulling off the headband before putting it away. His eyes shot up to meet the gaze of his bandmates. "Let's do this!" he shouted, filled with fresh determination.
X-=-=-=-X
'Now, all I need to do is wait…' Weiss mused with a smug smile, sitting on her bed after their debut performance. It had obviously been a one-time thing, so it was perfectly fine to go all out. All the makeup and outfits had been kind of a hassle, not to mention her hair, but it would all be worth it in the long run. Now… if only her team leader would stop glaring at her.
"What were you thinking, Wiess?" Ruby finally growled, giving her a mean look.
"I'm not really sure what you're talking about…" the ex-white-haired heiress replied calmly. She wasn't about to tell the child her true motives, how utterly humiliated that idiot had made her feel… And what he'd sang about her? Utterly idiotic!
"I can't believe you did this… just what were you thinking?!" Ruby seemed to grow even angrier.
'Damn… did she really figure it out so soon?' Was her team leader actually clever enough to-
"I can't believe it, you guys performed without me?! I thought we were a team!" the small reaper wailed angrily.
Weiss wanted to facepalm, 'never mind…'
"Come on Ruby… what's the big deal?" her blonde sister asked with a huff. It seemed to Weiss that Yang wasn't all that full of energy, not if one little concert was enough to tire her out. "Did you not see us out there? We kicked ass!"
That seemed to annoy Ruby even more, "that's even worse! You didn't think to include me in it?! I thought we were a team! I'm the leader of the team, why was I the last to know!" The small girl stomped on the ground in anger.
"Oh, come on sis… we didn't include Blake either…" Yang tried to calm her sister down, only for Ruby to scoff and fold her arms.
"Please… like Blake could even go up on stage… She'd probably run off the second anyone looked her way…" Ruby growled none too quietly.
Behind her, the black-haired Faunus dropped her book wearing a shocked and somewhat betrayed expression. She was surprised to hear this sort of accusation from Ruby, of all people.
'I'm not that bad… right?' the girl kept wondering. If Ruby was saying it, then-
"It doesn't matter…" Weiss suddenly declared, getting up from her bed. "Look Ruby, I hate to tell you this-" she really didn't, "-but you're not really the type of person to go on stage in front of people…" The heiress knew she had her leader, as that was one of her biggest faults. "Can you honestly tell me that you'd be alright with going up on stage with us? Singing, or playing?"
Ruby looked away, "you still could have told me…"
"Don't worry Ruby… I doubt we'll do anything like that again…" Weiss soothed with a triumphant smile. Her masterful plan to prove to everyone that she was better than that idiot was done. Now all Weiss had to do was wait for him to quit his band and come crawling back, so she could kick him while he was down!
"What do you mean?" the small reaper asked with a confused look.
Weiss was about to explain the whole point of her little performance to her leader when the door to Team RWBY's room burst open, an orange-haired girl walking in with a redhead at her side. 'Already here? They probably want to tell me that they talked to Arc…' Weiss guessed. It wouldn't be a surprise if both girls had come to tell her about it, as the idiot was their leader.
Honestly… what was the headmaster thinking?
"Nora… that's a door, you could have knocked…" Yang chided, not really sure why she was bothering with Nora of all people.
The girl waved it off, "we might have a problem…"
Weiss's palm met her face, she sighed quietly. "Of course there is… What happened, did people not like it?" The heiress was sure they had, both from the cheering as well as checking online after they were done. Sure, some people were clearly biased because Weiss was a Schnee, but she didn't pay them too much attention.
"Oh no… they loved it…" Pyrrha assured. "It's more like what happened because of it…" She pulled out her scroll, turning it to face the rest of Team RWBY.
X-=-=-=-=-X
The scroll showed a small, makeshift studio with a familiar looking news anchor wearing a crisp looking suit smiling brightly at the camera.
"Good afternoon Vale, I'm Lisa Lavender here in Beacon once more with the members of the hottest boy band in Vale…" The older woman gestured towards the band members sitting in front of her. "I'm here to report on the sudden show given by what looked to be a girl band that just sprung up out of nowhere. They seem to be led by the once popular singer Weiss Schnee, who had decided to become a huntress in training…" the woman explained to the camera pointed at her, absolutely loving the scoop she was getting, before turning to one of her guests. "Here with me are the members of the boy band- led by the Jaune Arc, renowned for his own famous song…"
Jaune seemed less nervous than he was during his first interview. Next to him sat the rest of his bandmates, except for Mercury.
"Thanks for having us again, Lisa…" Jaune responded, Ren nodding next to him.
Sun simply smiled at his blonde friend, valiantly holding himself back from smacking Neptune (who was staring at the camera as if trying to see all the girls watching on the other side).
Lisa smiled pleasantly. "My, how polite for someone so famous… It's good to see that all that sudden success hasn't gone to your head, you wouldn't believe how often that happens…" Lisa joked.
Sun was elbowing Neptune, without much in the way of success.
An embarrassed Jaune just glanced to the side, scratching the back of his neck. "I'm not sure about this whole famous thing, sounds like a bit of an exaggeration to me… But we did hear a few people calling us that, like my friend Velvet told me after the performance- oh!" Jaune suddenly seemed to remember something, he stared directly at the camera and waved. "Hey Velvet!"
"Oh dear… a different woman now? Should we expect a song about her?" Lisa asked in a saucy tone. Anything she could do to get a big scoop, and drama was an instant hit for her viewers.
Jaune simply smiled. "Nah… I wouldn't want to embarrass her, Velvet was actually the first one to interview us in Beacon. Without her, I might've thought that we were terrible!" he explained in a rather animated manner.
"The one who interviewed you first? You mean the young huntress in training who gave us your first pictures?" the older woman asked, recalling a brown-haired, long-eared, bunny Faunus who had contacted her with the first details.
It had honestly made Lisa's job way easier in getting this interview, maybe the teen could still be helpful. "I see… I might have to talk to this young lady and see if she's interested in being a parttime reporter…" Lisa watched the blonde's face light up. "And speaking of your first show, a lot of people were surprised- no, shocked that a new band rose up right after yours did…"
"Yeah, they're not the only ones… Guess I know how everyone felt when we performed the first time…" Jaune answered honestly.
Lisa took a moment to stare at the open and innocent boy, a small grin sprouting up on her face. "I bet… And to see Weiss Schnee, of all people, on that stage must have been a shock to you, right?"
Jaune nodded, "it was… I was honestly amazed at how good she was…"
"You were?" Lisa asked, slightly confused, her curiosity taking hold. "But she used to perform all over Remnant… I believe she even performed once in Vale, immediately before entering Beacon." The older woman noted the blonde's look of surprise. "You didn't know?"
Jaune shook his head. "Not really… I never really listened to any of her music before. I probably heard it here and there, but I never really made the connection… I had no idea who she was before Beacon…"
"So, if you didn't even know her before… how did you get to this point?"
Jaune glanced away, embarrassed once more, before his gaze drifted back to the reporter's. "It was just that I saw her for the first time… I-I just…" the blonde tried to explain when Lisa cut him off. Both to spare him the embarrassment and to save her female viewers the disappointment, she wasn't sure which was more important.
"I see… Then you must have congratulated her for such a marvelous performance, right?"
"I wanted to, but she… Well, all of them were amazing and the other students sorta beat me to it-" Jaune started to explain, before someone next to him broke in.
"We remembered how many people wanted to congratulate us after our performance, so we figured we'd do it afterwards… Two of their members are our teammates, after all… Both of our partners, actually…" Ren explained, he and Sun both vowing to save Jaune and make sure he didn't say anything he shouldn't.
"Oh my… Both your partners, you say? Wouldn't that make things awkward?" Lisa asked, loving every minute of what she now had the exclusive to.
Jaune simply waved such concerns off with a charming laugh. "No way, Pyrrha and Nora are awesome! Besides… it's not like this is a contest…" the young Arc assured.
X-=-=-=-=-=-X
Back inside Team RWBY's dorm room, the girls could only stare at the screen entertaining various different thoughts.
Pyrrha and Nora couldn't help but blush and smile at the words of their partners, each of them thinking fondly of their not-so-secret crushes…
Ruby had stars in her eyes at seeing her best and first friend in Beacon being awesome once more, showing everyone what she'd seen the first time around. Anyone using a classic sword and shield combo like a true knight was definitely a good person!
Next to Ruby was her blonde sister, smiling at the Arc on the screen. Yang glanced at her little sister and her smile turned into a frown, she definitely needed to keep an eye on her little (and very impressionable) sister.
Blake was staring at the screen, a pleased smile on her face. She recalled the girl Jaune had waved to… a Faunus second year who'd somehow been harassed by the resident bully of their year. Jaune had rushed in to help, and only because it'd been the right thing to do. It was good to know that there were people outside her team who weren't racist.
Last but not least, the formerly white-haired heiress couldn't keep her eyes off the video, her eyes boring holes into the absolutely idiotic face of the annoying blonde onscreen. Weiss felt her fists tighten with almost uncontrollable anger, her blood starting to boil. 'How dare he! No contest?! I'll show him!' the girl swore
