"Did you just say that you're moving back home and opening up your bar in Mystic Falls?" Elena asked, still processing everything Damon was telling her. "Why? According to Stefan, you weren't coming back, and according to your little note, you left me, you said that you couldn't do this anymore. So, why now? After all this time?"

"The truth?" Damon asked as Elena nodded her head. "The truth is, I was never really happy in New Orleans. For the past five years, I tried to be. But I wasn't, and I realized that the only thing that would truly make me happy is being with you." Damon said softly as he stepped closer to her.

"Damon..." Elena started to say when he placed both hands against her face as she stared up at him.

" I didn't just come back to open my bar. I came back for you. For us, because I still love you Elena and I know that you still love me." Damon looks into her eyes for a moment before his eyes land on her lips. Without hesitation, Damon leans down and kisses her deeply and passionately. As he continued to kiss Elena with so much passion, Damon could feel everything inside of him starting to open again. All his feelings he ever had towards Elena, that he kept buried inside for five years, came back to the surface.

The moment Elena felt Damon's mouth against hers, instead of kissing him back, she lifted her hands up and pushed him off of her, then slapped him across the face. Shaking her head and without saying a word, Elena stepped back into her house and slammed the door in his face.

Elena suddenly jumped a little when the sound of her intercom interrupted her thoughts of Damon and their conversation last night. Which is a good thing because, the last thing Elena wants to do is keep thinking about Damon Salvatore. She doesn't even want to think about the kiss that he planted on her. But it's not that easy, since she could still feel her lips tingling from that kiss. Of course, Elena wanted to kiss him back. But the night of him walking away from her started to flood back, so her first instinct was to push him away and slam the door in his face. Maybe the slap was a little too much, but he kinda deserved it.

There's no question in Elena's mind; she already knew who gave Damon her address. She knows that it had to be her mother who gave Damon her address, since she's the one who's been pushing Elena to talk to Damon about Bella. The next time Elena pays her mom a visit, she's going to have a lot of explaining to do. Elena loves her mom. She just wished that her mom wouldn't push so hard.

When the intercom buzzed again, Elena sighed softly as she reached over and hit the button. "What is it, Davina?" She asked as she closed her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose for a moment.

"Your 10:30 appointment is here," Davina reminds her.

Elena dropped her hands and looked over at the time, realizing it was already 10:30. "Oh my god, I completely forgot all about them. Please send Mrs. Mikelson in, thank you, Davina." Elena said as she removed her hand from the intercom. Elena was so distracted by Damon and what happened last night that she had forgotten that Cami would be coming in to discuss her son's heart surgery, which Elena would be performing in a few days.

"You what?!" Caroline asked in shock as she heard what Damon just told her and Stefan. This morning, as soon as Damon woke up and joined everyone in the kitchen for breakfast, Stefan asked Damon how it went with Elena last night, as he knew that Damon had gone to see her. And Damon blurts out that he kissed Elena.

"Come on, Blondie. Don't make me repeat it." Damon said, shaking his head as he took another drink of his coffee before setting his cup down. He then took another bite of his hash browns.

"I heard you the first time, Damon. I'm just trying to figure out how you went from just talking to Elena to making out with her. Because we both thought that was all you were going to do—talk to her—and that was it. The last thing we expect is for you to kiss Elena." Caroline said, shaking her head.

" Well believe it or not Caroline, I actually did talk to her. I was telling her how I was planning on opening my bar soon here in Mystic Falls and that she's the main reason why I came back. Next thing I knew, I was kissing her." Damon could still feel her soft lips against his and he couldn't wait to feel them again.

"So, what happened?" Stefan asked as he took a sip of his coffee.

Damon sighs with a chuckle. "Well, Elena pushed me off of her, slapped me across the face hard, I might add, and slammed the door in my face." Of course, that wasn't the response that Damon was hoping for, but he did kinda expect it, though.

Caroline couldn't help but snort a little laugh. "I hate to say it, Damon, but you deserved that slap, and you know it," she said sternly, looking at him.

Damon rolled his eyes a little as he shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever." He said as he took another drink of his coffee that was still semi-warm. "Just you two wait and see, Elena will come back to me." He added with a smirk.

Caroline raised her brow for a minute. "What makes you think that she'll actually come back to you?"

"I know she will. Elena loves me just as much as I love her." Damon said with determination as he gave Caroline another smirk and winked at her.

Caroline scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Damon, I really hate to be the one who has to tell you this, but Elena has a fiancé. Sorry, buddy." Caroline said as she shrugged her shoulders slightly and got up from the table, walking out of the kitchen to head upstairs and check on the kids.

"Is Elena getting married?" Damon asked Stefan as soon as Caroline left the kitchen.

"Not exactly."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Damon asked in confusion.

Stefan sighs as he sets his cup down. "It means that she hasn't really given him an answer yet."

Damon exhaled in relief as he was very happy to know that Elena wasn't actually engaged and he still had a chance to get her back. "That's good to know. Very good to know, little brother." Damon said with a chuckle as he finished his coffee and breakfast.

Matt was in his office, sitting behind his desk, going through his case files when he heard a knock coming from his office door. "It's open," Matt called out as he kept his eyes on his files.

Enzo walked in and closed the door behind him. "Just wanted to let you know that we were able to make the arrest and we got the guy in custody." Enzo said as he sat behind Matt's desk.

Matt nodded his head while he closed his file. "Good job, deputy," Matt said as he took a sip of his coffee before setting it back down on his desk.

Enzo nodded his head, thanking him. "So, has Elena let you back in yet? Or are you still sleeping on Lockwood's couch?" He asked with a smirk and a small chuckle.

Matt exhaled heavily, shaking his head. "Not yet, and yes, I am still sleeping on his couch." Matt would love more than anything to get back into the house. He will do anything for Elena. But he won't push her, since it's her decision to make.

"I didn't want to say anything, but there's a new bar opening up soon."

Matt shrugged his shoulders slightly. "So? There's always a new bar opening up. What's your point?" He asked, as he really didn't see what the big deal was or why Enzo was sharing this information with him.

" True there is. But this bar is called Salvatore's Bar, which means Elena's ex is back in town." Enzo answered, as he wanted to let Matt know that Damon is back in Mystic Falls.

Once again, Matt just brushed it off. "It's been over between them for five years now. Besides, even if Damon is back in town, it won't change anything between us. I mean, Elena is over the guy, and she'll never really leave me for him."

Enzo shrugged his shoulders as he stood up and headed for the door. "Well, I hope you're right. But if I were you, Mate, I would keep an eye on Damon." Enzo said in a warning as he opened the door and walked out of Matt's office before heading back to his desk.

Matt sighed deeply as he quickly got up from his desk, grabbed his jacket, and walked out of his office and out of the police station. He got behind the wheel, started up the engine, and drove off towards the Whitmore hospital to talk to Elena. Matt really hoped that Enzo was wrong and that he only thought that Damon Salvatore was back in town. But he wouldn't know the real answer until he talked to Elena.
