A/N: This is a reimagining of a story that I wrote in 2011 titled "My Wizard Boyfriend"

Ivy Wentz froze in the crowded hallway of South High, her stance blocking Teddy Duncan's way.

"Ivy, what are you doing?" Teddy groaned as scores of kids pushed their way past her and her best friend, occasionally knocking them into one another.

But Ivy was unfazed by Teddy's question. Her eyes were transfixed on something in the distance; or rather, someone.

"Oh my God…"

"Ivy, what's wrong? What is it?"

"I…"

"Ivy, are you okay? You look… weird…"

Ivy's hand flew to her chest. "Oh my God… over there. The most gorgeous guy I've ever seen…"

Teddy's gaze followed her friend's across the hallway, landing on a tall dark-skinned boy, wearing a green sweater and torn, faded jeans.

"Who, him?"

"Yes…" Ivy sighed. "Derek Livingston."

Teddy looked this Derek Livingston up and down. "What's so great about him?"

Ivy's hands went to her hips. "Girl, are you blind? Look at him! He's gorgeous!"

Teddy shrugged. "I guess…"

Ivy's dreamy look disappeared, replaced with one of clear annoyance. "Girl, why are you such a drag?"

Teddy's jaw dropped. How dare Ivy say such a thing? Even if it was… sometimes true.

"I am not a drag! Not today, anyway."

"I beg to differ! How can you think that Derek Livingston isn't gorgeous? Oh wait, let me guess. You're still hung up on Spencer, right?"

Teddy's face flushed and she swallowed hard. "No…"

"You're lying. When are you going to get over him?"

"W-what? I am over him! I've… moved on!"

Ivy led their way through the crowded hallway until they came to their lockers. With one flick of her wrist, she opened Teddy's locker and pushed the door outward, displaying

a very prominent item.

"So why is his picture still in here?"

Teddy carefully removed the worn picture of her handsome ex-boyfriend (the picture that, until that moment, was securely fastened with scads of scotch tape) and laughed

nervously. "This? Oh, well this is…"

"Pathetic." Ivy finished. "Why can't you get over him?"

"Well, what makes you think that I'm not?"

Ivy grabbed the picture from Teddy's hand, causing a strange feeling to fill Teddy's chest. It was not unlike the feeling she'd experienced when her relationship with Spencer

had been ripped apart.

"This picture, for one thing…"

"I'm over him! I really am!" Teddy protested.

Ivy held up the picture of Spencer. "Oh really? Well, if that's true, then you won't mind if I do this!"

To Teddy's horror, Ivy ripped Spencer's picture into pieces and ceremoniously let them float to the ground.

"Ivy, how could you?" Teddy shrieked. Her insides were trembling and she was dangerously close to tears. But she refused to let Ivy see her cry. That would definitely prove

that she wasn't over Spencer. And of course she was. She no longer had feelings for him and she certainly didn't love him.

"I'm proving a point!" Ivy declared. She flipped her head around just as the bell rang. "Bye, Teddy!"

"I am over him! I swear!" Teddy yelled. Ivy, however, was nowhere to be seen.

With a sigh, Teddy stooped down to pick up the pieces of Spencer's picture. She was going to need a lot more scotch tape.

In an effort to avoid Ivy at all costs, Teddy took the long way home, grateful when she came to her favorite park. It was peaceful and the beautiful scenery would help to take

her mind off of Spencer.

Darn that Ivy! If her best friend hadn't brought up her ex-boyfriend, Teddy wouldn't have been thinking about him at all! Well, not in class, anyway.

So what if he'd broken her heart twice? Guys did that sort of thing all the time. And besides, Spencer had apologized. Well, the first time, at least. Sure, the second time was

much worse and they were destined never to be together again, but there was always a chance that things could return to normal; maybe even better than normal.

When she reached the park, she removed the plastic bag containing the pieces of Spencer's picture and stared at them for the millionth time. It didn't look so bad. She could

fix it, no problem. She'd just need a lot of scotch tape. It might take a long time but she'd eventually tape it all together. Sure, there would be faded lines and worn edges

when it was whole again, but she'd just use her imagination.

She didn't need to close her eyes to imagine Spencer's handsome face, his dark, piercing eyes, his beautiful smile, the way her heart did a somersault in her chest whenever

they were together and when-

"Oof!"

Feeling light-headed, Teddy suddenly realized that she'd run into someone, quite literally. Flushed with humiliation, she did her best to avoid the gaze of the unfortunate

person.

"Oh God, I'm so sorry!" She stammered.

This was Ivy's fault. If it weren't for her, none of this would have happened. Teddy would have walked home the normal way and-

"It's all right. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm-." She looked up and locked eyes with a slender, dark haired boy who was almost as handsome as Spencer. Maybe even more handsome.

Her heart beat wildly beneath her chest and she was suddenly aware that taking a shortcut through the park might not have been such a good idea. In fact, it may have been

a very bad idea.

The boy was staring at her; a strange look in his eyes.

Slowly she began to back away. "W-why are you looking at me like that?"

The boy smiled and moved closer.

Teddy wanted to scream in terror, but when she opened her mouth, words came instead. "W-what's wrong?"

"I can't believe it!"

"You can't believe what?"

"I-I thought I'd never see you again! Juliet, you're even more beautiful than I remembered. And I could never forget you."

Once more, Teddy's cheeks flushed and she smiled. "Oh, well, thank you, but my name isn't-."

The boy moved even closer and suddenly she was locked in his embrace.

She knew that she should scream and run for her life, but she felt strangely safe. Being in his arms was so comforting, and yet very weird.

Who was this guy?

"Oh, Juliet…."

"W-why do you keep calling me that? I told you, my name is-." She stopped, knowing full well that things could go from bad to worse if she told this strange boy her name;

even if his embrace did make her feel safe and warm.

Before she realized what was happening, he was kissing her.

When he drew back, her mouth burned from the touch of his lips on hers. It was unlike any kiss she'd ever experienced.

He stared into her eyes and brushed a lock of hair from her forehead.

Reluctantly she struggled to free herself from his arms. "I-I really should go."

"Can I see you later?"

"Um, I don't… goodbye!"

Teddy turned and ran out of the park as quickly as she could, stopping to hide behind a large oak tree. A few minutes later she peered out from behind the tree's enormous

trunk, praying that no one had seen her.

In the distance she could see the boy still standing in the same spot, staring into space.

When the boy finally disappeared (seemingly right before her eyes… how was that possible?), she put her fingers to her lips, unable to stop thinking about that incredible kiss.

She floated out of the park in a daze, stopping only to toss the baggie containing the pieces of Spencer's picture into a nearby recycle bin.
