A/N: More of this AU because why not? Actually, this is based off of my past run of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship: Reverse of Arcadia. As I played, I couldn't help but think of Ren's reactions. I've also been working a bit more on this AU. I decided that Eric, Jazz, AJ, and Ellis are also with him. And I can't remember what deck Ren was using when this scene was inspired (been a while), but I can kind of remember the effect as it goes back to the hand after the user's turn. I thought it was the structure deck Rise of the Dragon Lords, but I couldn't find the card, so if anyone knows what the card is called, let me know! I will say this card isn't at all in the deck Ren uses now, so I guess we can say this was a beta test with this short, huh?
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. That goes to the respective owner. I only claim my OC(s).

Accident Prone
(Ren's POV)
"Okay, going to tribute summon this bad boy," I said, placing the card down.
"You sure you want to use that monster?" Yusei mused.
"Yes! I just want to do some amount of damage before he goes right back to my hand. I'm not going to regret it at all."
"All right, it's your call."
"I'm going to start the attack on Quillbolt Hedgehog, and-"
"Aaand, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow."
"F**k! And he goes back into my hand at the end of turn, leaving me wide opened." I leaned back in the chair, covering my eyes. "Fine, get it over with."
"Okay. I attack with Quillbolt Hedgehog first." I groaned. "Then Speed Warrior." Another groan, pushing my chair on the two back legs. "Then Junk Synchron." A third groan. "And finally-"
"Gah!" I lost my balance and fell backwards onto the floor.
Yusei shot up from his chair. "Ren, are you okay?!"
"Yeah, did I lose yet?"
He checked the Life Point damage on the sheet beside the cards. "Yeah, you lost the last of your Life Points." I let out a long groan, both from the loss and the hit to my head.
Not Useless
(Ren's POV)
I grunted, setting the box of parts down as I took a breather. I was helping Ellis move a few things around the shop. The Enforcers were planning to head out to fight against Team Dirty Works, so there wasn't much point to be out for the day. So instead, I stayed at home to help my older siblings. Though, I still couldn't shake the strange feeling I had. Like something bad was going to happen.
"What's up, sport?" I heard Ellis ask me.
"Nothin'," I replied.
"Doesn't sound like nothing." He set his box down and sat down next to where I was pouting. "Come on, spill. What's eating ya?"
I sighed. "I've been having this funny feeling since hearing where Yusei and the others are heading next, but I know that I wouldn't be of much use 'cause I'm crap at dueling. I want to help out, but how? I'm just useless."
"Hey now, you're not useless. You've helped plenty of times."
"Yeah? Name one thing I did that helped."
"Well, I know that Crow appreciates you helping with the kids he watches over. You've helped Kalin find some good lookout points. Jack...ah, well, I don't think he really wants any kind of help. Too hard-headed."
"Pff."
"And I know that Yusei really likes having you to talk with while he's working. So see? Who cares about dueling skill when you've got other areas of expertise."
"I...I guess you're right, El."
"Hey, you know I'm right." He started ruffling my hair.
"Stop stop! Not the hair!" I yelled with a bit of laughter, trying to push his arm away. We both had a good chuckle when the door opened.
"Hey, you opened?" one of the people asked.
"Yeah, of course! Come on in." Ellis got up from his seat to help the newcomers.
I hoisted myself up off the ground, grabbing the box I had set down and putting it on the table. I started putting the items away when I overheard the conversation. "Yeah, we're staying away from that current turf battle. I hear that Dirty Works group had prepared for the Enforcers by setting up some nasty traps. Hate to be them right about now."
Immediately, my body went into autopilot as I ran from the table to my room, grabbed my deck and Duel Disk, and sped right out. I heard Ellis call behind me, but I was too focused on getting to the hideout before that bad feeling became a reality.
Don't be too late, don't be too late! I chanted in my head as I neared the building. I practically kicked the doors open, scanning the area. I don't see anyone. I gulped and hurried further in. Those fried Duel Disks on the ground means that they're already in deep enough. Please let it not be too late to do something.
I entered a big open room. I spotted Yusei not too far from the entrance, looking around for another duel gang member. No sooner had I spotted him when I heard a creak from above. I sprinted forward, yelling, "Yusei, watch out!"
(Yusei's POV)
"Re-" I couldn't finish my sentence before I felt another body slam into mine, sending us both skidding onto the ground. A crash sounded right where I stood. Pushing myself up, I saw a pile of debris that was close to crushing me.
Ren groaned, pushing himself up. "I'm gonna feel that in the morning," he mumbled.
"Ren, how did you..?"
"A couple of people came into Ellis's shop, talking about how Dirty Works rigged the place. I've had this bad feeling all day, and I couldn't just sit by and let something happen to any of you guys." He looked down as he said the last bit.
I placed a hand on his shoulder, causing him to look up at me. I smiled. "Thanks, Ren."
He blushed a bit. "Aw, it's nothin'. Besides, can't have you going into the duel arena up in the sky until you show me how to make my own personal Duel Disk."
I chuckled at that. "Well, guess I better be careful from now on."
"Ah shit, looks like the trap didn't do its job," new voices said. We looked to see two of the Dirty Works members readying their Duel Disks. "Oh well. We'll just have to do it the hard way."
Ren and I stood up. "Mind joining me for a Tag Duel?" I asked Ren.
"Normally I'd decline, but these bastards are pissing me off too much for me to back down," he replied. He put in his Deck, activating his Duel Disk. "Let's kick their asses."
I nodded. "Game on!"
(A Few Moments Later, Ren's POV)
"I activate my trap, Reinforcements! Increasing Junk Warrior's attack by 500! Go for it, Yusei!" I shouted.
"Junk Warrior, end this!" Yusei added. The last attack sent both of our opponents' Life Points down to zero.
"Yes! Take that, bozos!" I flipped the double bird, causing Yusei to shake his head.
"You were doing so well."
"Shut up."
"Hey, Yusei, you okay down—what the hell happened?!" we heard Kalin shout. We turned to see him, Jack, and Crow.
"Hey, guys," I greeted.
"Ren? What are you doing here?" Crow asked.
"Oh, uh-"
"Ren had a bad feeling and saved me from getting crushed by one of the traps," Yusei explained.
"What?! Those bastards!" Jack growled.
"Should have known they'd play dirty. Anyway, leader's taken care of, so we've got this turf battle in the bag," Kalin said.
"Good. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'm gonna pass out 'cause I just remembered I ran all the way here from Ellis's shop. Night night," I said, falling forward and blacking out, barely feeling someone catching me before I hit the ground.
A/N: Well, originally this was only one short, but it was too short, so I added another after the original one just to add an actual small shipping moment. And yeah, first time I dueled against Yusei, he took me out without even Synchro Summoning because I had a brain fart and forgot about Scrap-Iron Scarecrow. XD I said I was a noob. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have to brainstorm a few new shorts as I sort of caught up with the ones I started (minus one that I finished months ago that I decided to drop to an AU and two from the 30 day OTP challenge...even though I don't see any of my canon/OC as my OTPs, but I felt like it could give me some ideas for more shorts). I've got one in my head of just a bunch of cheesy pick-up lines, but I only have two in mind. So we'll see if I can get that one down at all. Bye for now!
