A/N: Geez, at this point why bother trying to come up with these on my own when my dreams make better stories? X'D Yeah, this came from a dream though wasn't quite with Ren and Yusei. It was kind of like I was watching a movie with other characters? And there was also one scene where I guess a secondary antagonist that was secretly working in with the good guys proclaimed about wanting to unleash the ultimate evil and everyone stood around and was like, "Okay, whatever dude." This is still in early stages and I'm trying to come up with ideas as we speak. From what I could kind of see, main guy was a half-vampire (so that will be what Yusei is in this) and the organization he was tied with was a mix of what was shown in the likes of Hellboy and Hellsing where they fought supernatural creatures. This scene kind of cropped up with the idea of doing this as another AU story, though the scene may not be one to one recreated once I get to writing this. Also, might toy around with not having it be swapped around with first person perspectives as it might end up being too confusing in the end. Anyway, enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. That goes to the respective owners. I only claim my OCs.
Supernatural AU- Heart to Heart:
(Ren's POV)
"Delivery of blood packets," I stated, opening the door. The room was a bit empty, and the coffin's lid was ajar, meaning he was up. I could also hear some metal clinking.
"Fridge's in the same place," came Yusei's reply. At least he actually got out of the coffin. Must have kept catching him inside all the other times, I thought as I wheeled the trolley up to the refrigerator. I opened it and started stocking the packets into their place.
Guess got to be thankful he's started drinking again. Higher-ups were starting to think we would lose our local half-vampire at the rate he was fasting. Then again, they weren't really concerned with the why of it but more of losing their best hunter. I guess compared to the human soldiers here, losing a supernatural being is more risky, but he's still got feelings. He isn't a machine. I finished putting the packets away, closing the door and replacing the storage box's lid.
I glanced over at the door leading to his workshop, knowing he was working on one of his projects in there. Outside of the missions (or rather, the ones I can't negotiate the bosses from sending him on), he wasn't coming out of his room. The times I checked in on request of Jack and Crow, Yusei was in his coffin. Come on, this has been going on for almost a year. You gotta say something, man! I told myself, taking a deep breath in. I started walking to his workshop door.
As I got to the door and pulled my hand up to knock, the power tool sound on the other side stopped and Yusei called out. "What is it?"
I had to keep from yelling out loud. Shit, I always forget about his heightened senses. "Oh, uh, I thought we could talk?"
"Is it about the upcoming mission?" I heard things being shuffled around in there. He was probably putting things away to come out.
"Ah, no. Not about that. I thought we...could talk about what happened? On that mission."
There was a pause from the other side. I knew if I didn't continue, he might try to change the subject again. "I uh...what I meant to say was...I-I know I have no clue what you're going through. Well, like, literally because that's never happened to me—losing a loved one like that and all, but I just-" Oh my God, I'm rambling. Stop rambling, you idiot!
"...my kind doesn't age like humans, Ren. Once you reach adulthood, you can go decades without aging a day on the surface. We outlive almost everyone in this organization, and no ordinary human can handle the things we face on missions without losing their life. How many times can someone take it before it gets to be too much and they stop?"
I kept quiet at that. Yusei had been a part of this place even before I had signed up, and God knows how long ago that had been when he joined. I highly doubt that even the current head was around when that happened. There wasn't much I could respond very quickly, so I turned around to head back to the trolley only to stop. I ran a hand through my hair, sighing and gathering my thoughts together, and turned back to the door.
"Look, I didn't know her as well as you did, but...I don't think she would want you withering away in the dark like this. She'd want you to be happy, even if she wasn't a part of your long life anymore."
The room got quiet again. I got to the trolley, starting to push it out. I had a few more stops before I could head back to my apartment. The sooner I get it done, the sooner I can rest before this big mission.
A/N: So...not much to go on at the moment and I still need to brainstorm titles for it. I'm thinking that the 'she' Ren is referring to will be my first YGO 5D's OC Aurora as I do have plans for Akiza appearing (and I'm not quite that evil...well, not entirely). And as I said, this might not become a word to word recreation when it gets to that in the story. Until next time (I'm trying to get back to writing; just been having a bad writer's block and wanting to rewrite some beginning chapters in the HTTYD crossover Dragons' Souls, so hoping I can get back into the groove).
