A/N: Okay, last one for the time being. Might have to start an actual full on series over on AO3 of this (can't do it here because...well, reasons XD). And I figure with how much it left on a bit of a cliffhanger last time, might as well resolve it now. Again, kind of something I wish was included but still enjoy the series regardless (I mean, kinda have all the songs stuck in my head and just added to a bunch of playlists, so that should be a hint of how much I enjoyed the series).
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's nor any other Yu-Gi-Oh! related character mentioned. That goes to the respective owner(s). I only claim OCs. Also, the AU was greatly inspired by Vivziepop's series Hazbin Hotel. Check it out! (Be warned, it's an adult animated musical, so no kids should be watching that.) Oh, guess that also includes spoilers for Vaggie's story (but the series has been out for a few months so the secret's been out a while).
Crossover AU (Hazbin Hotel) Talk to Me 2:
(Ren's POV)
The whole day had just been one roller-coaster after another. Yami had taken me to see his friend from Cannibal Town to get more fighters for the upcoming conflict. After a blow up after the build up of emotions from the reveal back in Heaven, I got a sit down with his friend over what was really going on in my head. They gave me a different perspective, with how the hotel was all about redemption, and perhaps that's what Yusei was looking for too since he used to take part in the exterminations as an exorcist angel. Plus, actions spoke louder than words, and all he's been doing was supporting and helping with trying to redeem the damned down here.
But of course, I didn't want to try and do a new big talk around a bunch of people after getting reinforcements and Yusei getting the weapons, so in my own fashion I stopped him from starting with a gift from the town and also commenting on the wings (which, holy shit, they can grow back?!). I already felt bad for blowing up in front of the whole hotel about the reveal. I wasn't going to do it again. I want it to be one-on-one rather than a giant show. Again.
The only problem now was getting some alone time to even talk. Since we only have one month until the attack, we've got to make sure the place is ready to withstand such damage as well as start training everyone. Thankfully, everyone in the hotel stayed and were going to help defend this place too, so that lessened some of it. Besides, I was the one that started the confrontation when we got back, so I got to be the one to extend the olive branch so to speak.
"Okay, Blaze. Light. Get this to Yusei, all right guys?" I said, handing over the note. They both nodded and flew off into the hotel while I shut the bedroom door behind me. I let out a breath as I tried to think over how to start the conversation. Okay okay, no need to make it a big deal. Just remember what you always say. "It starts with sor-" The door creaking open broke my thoughts.
"Hey, Ren, what did you-" I didn't even let Yusei finish his greeting before I threw myself and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have yelled at you like that and I was being so insensitive of your feelings over everything and should have-" I was falling over all my words so much that I'm pretty sure that even a caffeinated squirrel couldn't keep up with it all.
"Whoa whoa, Ren. Slow down. You're speaking way too fast." He put his hands on my shoulder and pulled me off to stand in front of him. "Now, what was it you wanted to say?"
I took a deep breath in. "I'm sorry. I-I shouldn't have put you so on the spot about...that, and I should have been more aware of your feelings. I feel like such a hypocrite..."
"No, I should have told you from the start, then you wouldn't have gotten so blind-sided by the truth. I was just ashamed of what I had done to your people that it never seemed to be the right time to do a reveal. I figured, why tell if I can just make it up by helping you redeem the sinners? At least then, I'd be able to work up to telling you sooner."
"I guess we both screwed up in the communications department, huh?"
"Yeah."
"Oh, right, what did you learn about...killing an angel?"
"Well...the simple answer was...angelic weapons."
I blinked, confused. "Wait, what? Like...the spears they use? Those angelic weapons?"
"Yeah. I was shocked, too, but I guess it makes sense that the same thing they use to kill sinners would work too."
"But...wait a minute...wasn't what you got injured with..?"
"Yeah, that. Honestly, I figured that since I obviously made a 'mistake' which angels don't do...I guessed that I was no longer an angel and that was why Silas was able to hurt me so bad. But my blood always stayed the same despite that. I thought, maybe it hadn't set in. Or it took years being in Hell before my blood looked like everyone else's, but no. It stayed the same. Guess that should have been the first clue."
"...so...the mistake that made you lose your status...what was it?"
"Well, I...I let a sinner go instead of killing them."
"Wait what?!"
"I know, I know. I was an exorcist so why this one, but...they were a kid and it...something in me thought that this was wrong, so I let them go. I thought that it was just going to be my secret, but Silas caught me and...well..." He tapped the 'x' scar on his eye. "..punished me for that."
"But you were showing mercy! Shouldn't that be a part of being an angel?"
"I think you've seen how Silas and Bakura are like, mercy has no room inside an exorcist. We've had it pounded into our heads that the sinners deserve this, that they made their choices while alive and should be killed again to make sure the numbers don't get too high."
"And yet they don't even know what gets you into Heaven. Well, we're going to show them that we're not going to take this laying down anymore. If they won't hear us out through words, then maybe actions will show it! We'll stop the Extermination and show that we're willing to help each other out!" I balled up my fist, pounding it against my chest at the last statement.
Yusei chuckled lightly. "Well, no matter what happens, I'll stay by your side through it all." He took my fist from my chest, holding it between his.
A knock on the door broke the moment. "Prince Ren, your presence is required on the training field," Yami's voice spoke from the other side.
"Oh, uh, we'll be there in a minute!" Right, still only have this month to prepare, so need to focus on getting ready. I grabbed Yusei's hand, leading him out. "Come on, got to have our resident angel teach everyone how they operate."
"You got it."
A/N: Whew! Didn't know if I was going to end up rambling or what. XD I actually had a bit of a picture made by R-FakonWolf over on dA where they're doing a series that shows when Vaggie first joins the hotel (probably leading up to when the series begins) and it shows how they think everything went along with other possible headcanons involving Vaggie as an exorcist angel. I highly recommend checking their stuff out!
Also, I do have a different idea for how the final battle goes down, since an idea came in on what if some of the energy/magic/whatever could have affected an angel. Like, perhaps having a special form they take when push came to shove. Obviously, just going to be a part of the crossover AU and will probably have to make it its own thing over on AO3. And I also had an idea with this having a few other interruptions before Yusei got to Ren's room (which I left out as I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make it work or write it funnily enough; plus still figuring out characters for the Hazbin Hotel roles). I got the idea for the Angel Dust and Husker roles, the former being played by my OC AJ and the other being another OC but I forgot her name. ^^' This happens a lot, you get to a certain number and unless you write it down you forget their existence until you need them. X'D I'm sure it's somewhere written down, she's a part of a YGO/PKMN crossover AU I came up with a long time ago. Anyway, see you in the next oneshot!
