Chapter 1

It was a beautiful day in the countryside in the small town of Kamikochi. The town itself had a very good view of the mountains and had a very beautiful lake. Kamikochi was the type of place many people would come to for peace and relaxation. Or perhaps living a simple life like raising a family.

Up over on the alluvial hills of the small town was where the Fullbuster family lived. The couples were named Gray Fullbuster and Juvia Lockser Fullbuster.

Up in the attic, Gray was working on the model of the entire small community of Kamikochi. He had been working on it for the past 7 months. And after all that hard work he pulled to make the models, he was close to finishing it up.

While he worked on finishing painting the car models, he happened to notice something crawling on the replica of their fancy 3 story house. It was a spider, a Daddy Longlegs. Gray took the spider in his hands and looked at the small arachnid, admiring the small creature.

"Hey, little guy, what are you doing here?" Gray said, talking to the spider. "As much as I don't mind you being here, you're going to have to take your business outside. My wife isn't really a fan of spiders."

Gray carries the spider to the window and throws it outside. He was sure the spider would be okay, knowing a fall like that wouldn't exactly kill it. Once he had taken care of the spider, Gray went back to work on the model. He took a small sign that he tried to paint in small lettering, which was the name of the grocery store in the town.

Once he was done, Gray was caught by surprise when he saw his wife standing right behind him. She looked at the model of the town Gray had created. As she smiled, impressed by the model, there was a bit of sadness to her. This was due to the fact that her and Gray did not have children, something she yearned for.

"So how's it coming along, dear?" Juvia asked. "Is it finished yet?"

"Well, not yet," Gray answered. "She needs a few touches here and there and she should be finished."

"Before you do that, I have something for you," Juvia said with a smile, pulling out a present.

Gray smiled back, shaking the box and said, "I wonder what this could be?" He unwrapped the present and was surprised by the gift Juvia gave him. "A new engine for my motorcycle. I've been meaning to replace that old engine. And you got the latest model. Where'd you get this?"

"My friend Laki helped out," Juvia explained. "We knew you never could find the right engine for your motorcycle and we were traveling in the city where there was this vehicle auction. Anyhow, happy vacation."

"Speaking of presents, here's yours," Gray said, handing Juvia a small box that was gift wrapped.

Juvia unwrapped her gift and saw it was a small white leather box. She opened it and saw it was a silver necklace and it had her name hanging down from the necklace. "Oh, Gray, it's beautiful." She kisses her husband.

"And by tomorrow, we'll be spending the next couple of weeks at home on vacation," Gray said, excited that he gets to spend the next two weeks at home, with him and Juvia and no one else.

Juvia grinned and replied, "Why not start now?" She grabbed Gray by the grip of his shirt as they laid on the couch. Juvia laughed as did Gray as she pulled him closer and they kissed once more.

But before anything could happen, there was a buzz at the doorbell. They sighed in frustration that someone came to ruin their moment. In unison, they both shouted, "No one's home!" However, that alone wasn't enough to make the person at the door go away and buzz the doorbell again.

They both decided to see who it was. Looking out the attic window, the person at the door was worse than they imagined. It was a young woman with long pink hair in a woman's suit. She was the local realtor and Juvia's friend, Meredy.

It's not that Grauy and Juvia couldn't stand Meredy, but she had a bad habit of trying to sell their house to anyone who offered the right price. Though Meredy meant well and only wanted to help with the couple's financial problems, Gray and Juvia insisted they could handle their own problems.

Juvia sighed. "Oh, no. Not Meredy."

"Hey, I dealt with her last time," Gray tells Juvia. "You try talking to her."

"Thank you for volunteering me, dear" Juvia replied with sarcasm.

The both of them headed downstairs. The house they live in was an old fashioned quality victorian-like house. Gray headed down the basement to work on his motorcycle while Juvia headed into the kitchen to answer the door where Meredy was waiting.

Meredy smiled wildly at Juvia. "Hi, Juvia. I'm glad I caught you. I heard you were on vacation."

"Well, we were barely getting started on our vacation before you interrupted us," Juvia smiled back, trying her best not to be rude.

"Oh, well, I didn't mean to interrupt, but I have some news you might be interested in hearing," said Meredy. "This is an offer you can't say no to. I was given an offer of $350,000 dollars."

"Meredy, please, I already told you, we're not selling the house," Juvia told her. "Not for any amount of money."

"You really should consider this, Juvia," Meredy insisted. "This could really solve your financial troubles. This offer came from a rich man in Osaka, who only saw a photograph. He's interested in coming here for some peace and quiet with his family. Apparently, city life is a bit stressful for him."

"As much as I would like to help with his stress, he's going to have to take it elsewhere," said Juvia.

Meredy sighed and figured there was no convincing Juvia. "Are you sure about this? With that kind of money, you could afford a much better house."

"Like I told you before, Meredy, we have everything we need," Juvia insisted. "Our business is concluded and Gray and I would like to be alone."

"Well, if you insist," Meredy said. "I'll see you on Thanksgiving?"

"Definitely," Juvia replied, as she showed Meredy out the door and went to clean the dishes in the kitchen.

Down in the basement, Gray is humming happily as he gets ready to take out the old engine to his motorcycle and install the new one. He turns on the radio, listening to an old heavy metal music from the 80's.

The minute Gray was about to get started on the engine, he spotted another problem. Looking very closely where the chain was to the motorcycle, he saw how rusty it was. He shook his head. He hated it when one problem led to another.

Turning off the radio, he called out to Juvia. "Hey, Juvia, I need you to come with me to the store."

"What for?" Juvia asked, as she was cleaning dishes.

"I gotta replace the chain to my motorcycle," Gray explained. "It's starting to get rusty."

"Okay, but let's hurry back," Juvia said. "You just run in and get what you need."

Juvia put her shoes on as she and Gray went outside to the car to head down to Gray's auto store.
