Chapter 5
By now you and Newt have finished your breakfast and you start to walk around again. A boy you haven't seen yet walks up to the two of you and says, "Newt, Alby needs you."
"Alright," he turns to you and says, "I'll be back as soon as I can, I'll come find you."
Newt runs off and you're left there with the other boy. You both stand there for a while, awkwardly, and you're about to leave and start exploring, when he sticks his hand out and says, "Hi, I'm Thomas."
"Y/N," you say shaking his hand.
"Nice to meet you." He smiles a bit and you can tell that he's nervous.
"So you were the Greenie before me?"
"Yep," he nods his head and looks at the ground.
"Well," you say as you start to walk away, "nice to meet you, Thomas, I guess I'll see you around."
"Yeah."
You turn and leave. You start walking around and eventually come to the forest where you had tried to hide from the boys when you'd first come up in the box. Newt had called it the Deadheads. You go in and start exploring. You find a pond and feel the cool water. The deeper into the forest you go the less light gets through from the sky above. You hear a noise and whip your head in the direction that it had come from. You hear more scuttling and see a red light. You almost go to follow it when a voice from behind you says, "That's a Beetleblade."
Your heart jumps when you turn to see Gally standing behind you. He has an evil looking smile as he walks up to you. You start running and you hear him crashing through the brush behind you. You turn around and see that he's gaining on you. You keep running, going deeper into the forest. The plants grow thicker and it's nearly too dark to see. You don't bother being careful anymore, thin branches slap your face while twigs and thorns pull at your clothes and draw blood. You're too busy concentrating on running to see that there's a wall in front of you covered in thick ivy. You run straight into it and fall on your back hard enough to knock the air out of you. As you lay there, groaning and trying to catch your breath, you're looking up at a patch of sky. Enough light comes through for you to see as Gally gets to where you are and looks down at your face. You have a big headache and you can feel yourself start losing consciousness. Gally laughs and smiles, "Oh, you're going to wish you'd never come to the Maze."
He sneers and then everything goes black.
