AN: Hey guys, I made it another chapter just in time. I'm sorry if it didn't come out on Friday your time. I live in Hawaii so the time difference is noticeable compared to most places. Enjoy! And please review.

Chapter 8

You tip toe backwards, trying not to make a sound, but the Griever turns around anyway. You freeze again, maybe it won't see you if you don't move. But it comes closer. Its movement is strange, it curls itself into a ball and rolls forward with a whirr, it only goes a few feet before it stops and there's a clicking sound. One of its multiple appendages has a flashlight that roams around. You consider just turning around and running, but the Griever would definitely see you then. You push yourself against the wall and try to bury yourself under the ivy. It doesn't work.

The light beam lands on you and the Griever starts moving closer again, only this time it's faster. You take off running in the direction you came. You don't want to get lost so you keep trying to keep track of which direction you're going. You look over your shoulder, the Griever is right behind you, getting closer each second. You are growing tired but the Griever seems unfazed. You turn a corner and stop.

Ahead of you is a wall, a dead end. Turning around, you see the Griever blocking your way out. It comes closer with its whirr, click, click. You quickly come up with a plan. Not a good one, but it's better than nothing. While the Griever whirrs and rolls forward, you run to the side, trying to get around it and run away. You're not quick enough, the Griever turns around and grabs you with a claw-like appendage. It holds you in the air and seems to be studying you. You kick at it and try to pry the claw off of you, but it's all futile.

One of its appendages comes closer to you. At the end is what looks like an automated syringe. You squirm and try to keep it away from you, you're afraid of what might happen if it injects you. You recall Newt telling you about people going through the Changing after getting stung by a Griever. No, you think, already seeming to give up and accept the fact that you are either going to die or go through horrible pain. Most likely both. I haven't even been here a day! You scream in your mind.

You are helpless, and even after all your struggling, you can't keep the syringe from coming right up against your neck. You squeeze your eyes shut and wait for the pain that was sure to come. But for some reason it stops. You feel the syringe move away and you feel your neck, expecting it to be bleeding or at least sore. But there's nothing. You barely have enough time to be thoroughly confused before the claw holding you up suddenly lets go. You fall to ground, higher than you thought it was. You land on your back and hit your head on the ground. Your vision starts going black as you can somewhat see the Griever whirr and click away. It goes completely black and you fall unconscious.

When you wake up, it's still kind of dark. But not pitch black, middle of the night dark. More like dusk. You wonder if the Glade gets sunrises or sunsets. You shrug the thought away.

Standing up, you look around. You're in the same place that you were before you passed out but you realise you don't remember which way you had come from. You decide to just choose a direction and start walking, hopefully you can find a way out or survive until the Doors open and you can get back to the Glade. While you wander, you keep track of the turns you were taking, just in case, who knows? You dwell on the fact that the Griever had just let you go, it hadn't even hurt you as far as you could tell. You're so deep in thought that when you turn a corner you don't notice that there's someone else until you run right into them.

"Ow, shuck! You Slinthead!"
"Wha-? Oh, Minho! Yes, Minho!"
You jump up and down and hug Minho, crying from sheer joy.
"Y/N? You're alive? No one could find you, everyone thought you were dead. Have you been in here the whole night?"
You nod and he hugs you, rubbing your back as he tries to calm you down, "It's okay, you're okay. Newt has been worried out of his mind. Let's get you back to the Glade."
You nod again and follow him out of the maze.
