"Pace please…" Joey pleaded through the phone, when he didn't pick up, she sighed. "Fine! Just please call me back."

"Are you ever going to talk to her?" Doug lectured his brother who lay on his couch in his boxers and a wifebeater.

"I already know what she has to say." Pacey growled folding his arms tighter against his chest.

"What? That she loves you?" Doug balked throwing his dish drying rag at his brother.

Pacey snatched the towel that landed on his hip and shot up on the couch. "You don't get it Doug."

Doug exhaled sitting on the arm of the couch, looking at his brother in concern. "Then explain it to me."

Pacey lay his head back against the couch letting out a breath. "Since I was diagnosed everyone has treated me with kid gloves coddling my every move. The boat was supposed to be my escape from all of that."

"And because Joey cares you're going to blacklist her?"

"No…" Pacey hissed in frustration sitting up once more rubbing a tired hand across his forehead. "…but I thought she was coming with me because she cared…because she loves me."

"She does loves you Pacey…she loves you so much that she's afraid to lose you." Doug explained sitting next to him on his couch.

"She's not gonna lose me." The younger Witter whimpered weakly, but Doug could tell he was coming around.

"But there's no guarantee Pace…" Doug bit his lip placing a hand on his brother's knee. "You could die in a freak accident next week…or from your cancer years down the road." Doug sighed, turning to Pacey, his expression serious. "We aren't trying to coddle you…we love you."

Pacey could see the sincerity in his brother's eyes, no hate or indignation in sight. "I love you too Dougie."

Bessie's eyes doubled seeing her visitor stepping up her lawn as she pulled groceries out of the truck. "Pacey…it's been a bit."

"Yeah…" Pacey tried to smile but it came across as pained. "Do you need help?"

"Thanks." Bessie smiled shoving two bags into his arms, grabbing the last bag she slammed the door shut pushing him into the house. Once the bags were on the counter, she whispered pointing down the hall. "She's in her room."

Pacey nodded in thanks before turning and walking down the hall. Reaching Joey's door, he pulled in a breath before knocking gently on the door.

"What Bessie?" The sadness in her tone made him cringe as he gently pushed the door open. Finding Joey under her comforter curled around a pillow, her cheeks tearstained, making his heart break.

"Its not Bessie." Joey's head lifted her eyes wide as she sat up.

"Pace…what are you doing here?"

Pacey offered a half smile taking a few tentative steps into the room, taking a spot on the other end of the bed. "I'm sorry Jo." Her responding doe eyes melted him into goo. "I love you Josephine and I'm sorry for how I reacted…"

Joey cut him off jutting across her bed catching his head between her hands, her lips devouring his. Sliding across his lap she gave in to one more deep kiss before pulling back panting. "I love you Pace…so much and I'm sorry that part of me wants to go with you to keep an eye on you but I love you and I can't be without you."

Pacey sighed pressing his forehead into hers. "I can't be without you either…I was afraid I'd lost you and then Doug kicked my ass."

"Smart brother." Joey remarked with a snicker running her nose gently across his pressing little kisses around his mouth moving down to his neck.

"Jo…" He groaned, turning his head to the side fighting off her wandering hands. "Bessie is just outside the door."

"I can be quiet." Joey promised with a coy grin but they both stopped as Bessie bellowed from the other side of the door.

"Save it for the boat you two."

"Told you." Pacey tattled with a chuckle but pulled her closer burying his face in her neck.

"I know were a week behind but were still going on the boat, right?" Joey sighed pressing closer her hands combing through his unruly hair.

Pulling back Pacey grinned squeezing her hips. "We can set sail tomorrow."

"Good." Joey grinned pressing her lips into his, knocking him back on the bed with a giggle.
