"Please Pop already said its okay…but he won't let me go unless you're okay with it too."
Doug sighed placing his thumbs in his work pants, his radio and name tag jostling with the movement. "Where are you going?"
Pacey smiled clapping his hands together enthusiastically. "Down to the Keys with the boat for the summer."
"And what would you be doing?"
"Sailing, swimming, working…getting out of Capeside." When Doug's face took on a look of skepticism, Pacey let out a breath. "After everything with my Leukemia…I just want to feel normal again."
Doug took in his brother's hopeful somber look making him sigh again. "Ok but you need to check in at least twice a week…and if you start feeling sick again you call right away."
"Oh, thank you, thank you." Pacey squeaked pulling his brother into a hug.
Across town Joey sat at her table with her sister on one side and Bodie on the other, her hands clasped together as she pleaded. "Please let me go."
Bessie gnaw on her lip letting out a puff of air as her eyes met her fiancé.
"Please I don't want Pacey to go alone…I'm afraid he'll relapse and on his own…"
"Ok." Bessie cut her off with a smile squeezing her shoulder. "But you have to keep in contact every weekend and if things get bad call us immediately."
"Oh, I will." Joey breathed looking between the two who she had grown to think of as parents. "I'm scared…that something is going to happen and I'm gonna lose him like we lost mom…"
Bessie smiled sadly shifting closer, pulling Joey into a side hug as tears breached their eyes. "I would love to guarantee that nothing would happen to Pacey…but I can't. We just have to keep our eyes peeled…always preparing for the worst but hoping for the best."
Joey nodded morosely, burying her head deeper into her sister's chest. "I know."
