Chapter Two-hundred and ninety-five: Assault on Giant

After having The Jelly-Filled Donut change course from Alfornana, Dawn saw the Asado Desert come within view. She couldn't see either of the rumored Titan Pokémon that were reported to be in the desert, but she figured that since there were TWO this time, it shouldn't take long before at least one of them popped up. There was also one other factor involved in the combat against the rather sizable Pokémon running on the mojo of Herba Mysticas.

Arven, a student of Naranja Academy and a friend of Rimu's. Arven has also since become a known acquaintance of Dawn and her crew, someone who they can trust at least to an extent. At the very least, they can count on Arven to be involved if rumors of Titan Pokémon pop up, given that those giant Pokémon have proven to be signs that Herba Mysticas are located within the vicinity. Arven by no means will stop in his quest for those most special of herbs.

The flying ship landed near a tower that looked like it was leaning to the point it may fall over and be swallowed up by the sands of the Asado Desert; it looked like it was sinking in already. "Okay, so we are potentially dealing with two Titan Pokémon this time," Dawn began as she addressed Kenny and Trip, "We are going to have to go with the plan of having one of us tackle one of the Titan Pokémon alone while the other two tag teams the other Titan Pokémon."

"It may be wise to keep an eye out for our bud on a doggo saving quest," Kenny said, "He's bound to be in the area, especially since he said the last time we saw him that he'd check the Asado Desert out because of the hunch that I gave him."

Trip looked around the Asado Desert, saw that night had just settled. "...To our advantage, night has fallen on the desert," Trip said, "Deserts typically tend to be cooler at night, so we aren't gonna be as hot and sweaty as we'd be otherwise."

"If we're lucky, we may be able to resolve things here, make our way to Alfornada, and arrive before morning breaks," Dawn remarked, "Heath before he clocked out for a nap said he wanted to try to get things done here as quickly as possible."

Looking around, Kenny said, "Well first we need to fly around to try and find the Titan Pokémon. And I don't think we can use the ship for it since we have to land first."

"Not to mention how the Titan Pokémon may actually attack The Jelly-Filled Donut if it gets close enough," Trip pointed out, "I say we get out our big name legendaries, hop on, and ride around until we see two big boys both resembling Donphans."

Dawn nodded once in agreement. The reported Titan Pokémon, despite both resembling Donphans, are according to details gleaned not actually Donphans, but rather Paradox Pokémon that resemble Donphans. Great Tusk, one of the Paradox Pokémon listed as a Past Paradox Pokémon, and Iron Treads, one of the Paradox Pokémon listed as a Future Paradox Pokémon. Assuming that what all word the heroes have on the subject is true, they were about to have their first go against fighting Paradox Pokémon.

Getting vibes that the Paradox Pokémon of Paldea are comparable to the Ultra Beasts that the heroes and their friends dealt with back in Alola, Dawn and the boys called out Tsukune, Black, and Deelia to hop on and fly off to go over Asado Desert to search for the Titan Paradox Pokémon.

However, before they got away from the ship at all, Dawn and the boys took pause when they heard the familiar voice of Arven call out. "Oi! Dawn and crew!" Arven called as loud as he could, making the reborn trainers turn their attention to see him come running up to them as quickly as possible. They also saw that he was limping a bit, instantly setting alarms off in Dawn's head.

When he finally reached the reborn trainers, Arven fell forward a bit, only to be caught by Dawn's named Palkia who held a hand out for Arven to fall into. "Arven, you okay?" Dawn asked, "I saw you limping as you came over to us. Are you hurt?"

"I sprained my ankle a bit, nothing involving hostile wild Pokémon if that's what you're worried about," Arven said. His tone and expression shifted to grim annoyance before saying, "Pokémon aren't involved unless you count me fleeing from a giant robotic Donphan, me fleeing from is when I sprained my ankle. It's settling down since the incident happened a while ago, but it's still got me going at a Magcargo's pace."

"Robotic Donphan?" Dawn said, "Hmm, according to the notes you let my crew and I take from your parents' lab, it must have been an Iron Treads you fled from."

Nodding once, Arven went on, "And a giant version of the other kind of Paradox Donphan, that primeval looking thing that looks like the kind of beast my mom would love to study, proceeded to get into a fight with the robotic looking giant Donphan from the future which would very well be the wet dream of my dad's research." Nodding once, Arven went on, "I suspect that the two gigantic Paradox Donphans getting into a scrape against one another distracted the both of them for long enough to let me get away."

"I don't suppose you can tell us where the Titan Paradox Pokémon are located, can you?" Trip asked.

"After we get you aboard The Jelly-Filled Donut so that John can take a look at your sprained ankle and maybe examine your Pokémon as well if need be," Dawn added.

"...Aside from how my buddy Mabosstiff is still down with what's got him down, my Pokémon are all fine," Arven said, "They may like some food right now given what stores of food I have on hand right now are running low." Chuckling in amusement, Dawn as she and the boys got off of their legendary dragons chuckled and proceeded to help Arven aboard The Jelly-Filled Donut after Tsukune and the other dragons were recalled.

A few moments later, after Arven's ankle was treated and he and his Pokémon ate, Dawn asked, "So Arven, where are the Titan Great Tusk and Titan Iron Treads at now?"

Arven pulled out a map of the Asado Desert and looked at it for a moment before pointing to a wide open area on the one far end of the desert. "Here," Arven said, "They're fighting one another for some odd reason or another that I for the life of me cannot figure out. Maybe they recognize each other as coming from the distant past and distant future respectively?"

Looking to Arven, Leona said, "Those special Donphans... these Paradox Pokémon... do they really come from different time periods?"

Gently shaking his head, Arven said, "Who knows? Although when I was younger, I remember hearing my parents speak of a one way time machine..."

"A time machine?!" the members of Dawn's crew who were present exclaimed in unison.

Nodding once, Arven said, "One way time machine. According to what my parents said, it can both take a Pokémon from the distant past and bring it to our time, or take a Pokémon from the distant future and bring it to our time. Either a Past Paradox is dragged from its time into what would be the future for it, or a Future Paradox is dragged from its time into what would be the past for it. Last I heard, there's no way it'd work for sending humans through time."

The reborn trainers wisely decided to not bring up how Trip's named Dialga can work around that restriction quite easily. "So only the Paradox Pokémon can go through time via this one way time machine that your parents have," Trip said.

"Actually, Pokéballs are sent through time, catch the Paradox Pokémon, then are dragged back to the present time here," Arven said, "It's too dangerous for the Paradox Pokémon's health and well-being to be transported through time in and of itself. But if caught in a Pokéball and transported while in said Pokéball, it's perfectly safe. It's as safe and assured as having a Pokémon Professor at a lab send you your Pokémon kept at said lab."

"So all of the Paradox Pokémon are actually already caught when they arrive in our time," Dawn said.

"Caught in their time, brought to our time, and then released into the wild in Area Zero," Arven clarified, "All as part of the research my parents were doing. It was rather expensive from what I had gotten on the subject, mostly because the type of Pokéball my parents decided to use to fetch the Paradox Pokémon from their times just so happened to be Master Balls. I got it they worked out some manner of deal with a Pokéball Factory in the Kalos region for this."

Gesturing to the area of the Asado Desert map Arven pointed out, Kenny said, "Among which are the Great Tusk and Iron Treads that are now on Titan mojo and having a Kaiju battle against each other in the desert."

Nodding once, Arven said, "Yeah, exactly. But those two monsters being out in the wild outside of Area Zero... it should be impossible. The fact that they are here means that they somehow got out of Area Zero on their own. It's bad enough how much they rule uncontested in the wilds of Area Zero. Just imagine how much damage they can cause to Paldea if enough of them are able to do what Great Tusk and Iron Treads did and escape Area Zero."

Dawn's eyes widened with appropriate alarm. "...So many high powered Pokémon, all of which are from different periods of time, could ravage Paldea's ecosystem, due to all of them being elements that the way things are today are NOT equipped to handle."

Nodding in agreement, Arven said, "Great Tusk and Iron Treads have to be defeated and, if possible, caught if only to keep them contained. There also has to be an effort done to look into how Great Tusk and Iron Treads got out of Area Zero and, once the reason is uncovered, plugged up if possible so as to keep more Paradox Pokémon from getting out. My buddy Mabosstiff was hurt the way that he was by a Great Tusk."

"So that's how your doggo was hurt," Kenny said.

Arven gave a single nod of confirmation. "Yeah. And it happened because the Great Tusk saw me and instantly got aggressive despite me not doing anything besides have food on hand. If one of the Pokémon of our time is hurt that bad by a Paradox Pokémon, just imagine how bad it would be if a whole load of Paradox Pokémon get out of Area Zero and spread all over Paldea, getting aggressive on both the Pokémon of our time AND the humans who call Paldea home!"

Mina gulped nervously. "It could potentially spell the end of Paldea, the end of an entire region." Hearing that bit from Mina stirred Dawn's memory, reminded her of the reason why Arceus had seen fit to make itself available for capture as part of the efforts to put a stop to Team Scorn's efforts. It would be a nightmare if Team Scorn not only learned of the Paradox Pokémon, but got enough info on them to figure out how to use them to their advantage.

Looking to Arven, Dawn asked, "How many people outside of the lot of us here know about the Paradox Pokémon?"

"Just my parents but that's because they research them," Arven said, "I also vented to my bud Rimu about them, and all he said was that the Paradox Pokémon better not get out of Area Zero."

"So my worthy adversary from the World Coronation Series also knows of the Paradox Pokémon," Kenny said, "We'll need to talk to him in private as soon as we can to figure out who all else may have and idea on the Paradox Pokémon. This is dangerous info that has to be plugged so as to keep it from leaking out and reaching the ears of Team Scorn."

The heroes all nodded in agreement before they got ready to deal with two Titan Paradox Pokémon at once. The effort would be seeing Dawn, Kenny, and Trip take Arven with them to help lead them to where the Titan Great Tusk and Titan Iron Treads were having a kaiju battle against one another, then the reborn trainers would do what they do best before the Titans go down and Arven is able to collect Herba Mystica number four to heal his Mabosstiff.

They would fly on legendary dragons as Arven pointed the way, and said dragons would also have to do a lot of the fighting. But Dawn was confident that they will be able to win here, even though the fact that there's TWO Titans this time meant that she and the boys will have to divvy up their forces in order to address everything. When Arven said that he was ready, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip left The Jelly-Filled Donut with him, got on their dragons, and flew off into the Asado Desert.

...

As the heroes flew, Dawn with Arven leading the group as Arven pointed the way, Dawn said, "So according to the notes that Arven let us take, the typings of Great Tusk and Iron Treads were reasoned to be ground fighting and ground steel respectively."

"I can handle Great Tusk alone," Kenny volunteered, "In addition to Black, I also have Zamasu on hand. We can take Great Tusk."

"Deelia here knows Earth Power which is super effective on a dual ground steel type," Trip said, "And Tsukune still knows Flamethrower, right?" Dawn nodded once in confirmation. "Good, then you and I can tag team Iron Treads."

"You guys sound like you're sure you're gonna win here," Arven remarked, sounding at least a little bit impressed.

Shrugging, Dawn said, "We've seen a lot. Also if you'll recall, this isn't the first time we've dealt with Titan Pokémon."

"But this is two Titans at once," Arven said, "And both are Paradox Pokémon. Strange and powerful dangerous Pokémon that are from time periods so far from our own that they might as well be alien beings from another world."

Shrugging, Kenny said, "We've dealt with Ultra Beasts in the Alola region. I'm pretty sure that these Paradox Pokémon aren't gonna catch us off guard."

Eventually, after enough flying, the heroes spotted a large burst of sand kick up in an area of the Asado Desert straight ahead. Looking forward, the heroes saw two gargantuan and oddly looking Donphans fighting one another. One looked like a primeval savage beast, and one looked like a high tech robot. Regardless, both were fighting one another as if they were plain ol' normal Donphans that were fighting one another for some odd reason.

Gesturing forward, Dawn asked, "Is that them?"

Nodding once while gulping nervously, Arven replied, "Yeah, that's them, alright."

Looking down, Trip saw that a rather large swarm of wild Cacnea was fleeing from the area where the Titan Great Tusk and Titan Iron Treads were having their kaiju battle. "Those Cacnea seem to have the right idea," Trip remarked.

Dawn spotted an open space of area between the fleeing Cacnea horde and the kaiju battle of Titan Paradox Pokémon. "Let's land right there," Dawn said as she pointed out the open space, "As well as let those Cacnea know we're here to stop the Titan Paradox Pokémon. That ought to endear us to them and at least convince them that we mean no harm."

Following Dawn's lead, the others all landed in the area she had pointed out, and Kenny as he got off of Black called out Zamasu to back Black up against the Titan Great Tusk. "Yo, Cacneas!" Arven called out, "Let my buds here and I deal with these big ones, alright? Don't worry, all of you are going to be safe!"

Some of the Cacneas turned around to face Arven and the reborn trainers, and saw that they were already fighting the gigantic and odd looking Donphans. During the fighting, Black who was in its Origin Forme cried out a bit as it reverted back out of Origin Forme but was still drawing the full power boost from the Griseous Orb. Kenny scoffed, recalled how he was warned that the mojo that the Griseous Orb got from its Core counterpart would eventually wear out.

But Black was still getting the full power boost that the Griseous Orb gave, and that plus Zamasu laying down hurt with Prismatic Laser allowed enough damage to be dealt to defeat the Titan Great Tusk. Similarly, Earth Powers from Deelia and Flamethrowers from Tsukune allowed the Berlitz siblings to take down the Titan Iron Treads. As the two Titan Paradox Pokémon struggled to get back up, the wild Cacneas looked on at the humans in awe.

Eventually, the Titan Great Tusk and Titan Iron Treads both got up with defiant roars before running off to a cliff side wall that overlooked the Asado Desert. They broke the wall as the heroes rushed in to continue the fight, and in the cave in the wall that was made, Arven spotted a familiar sparkling item there. "It's the Herba Mystica!" Arven said, "But with two Titan Pokémon, and both of them also being Paradox Pokémon, all of it is bound to be eaten up!"

Seeing the two Titan Paradox Pokémon instantly get into a fight with one another over the Herba Mystica while the item itself just sat there, Dawn said, "It looks like they're fighting to determine who gets it. We can take them out while they're fighting."

"They're exhausted already from first fighting each other and then us," Trip reasoned, "This ought to be in the bag for us." Indeed, Trip just had Deelia use Earth Power on the Titan Iron Treads while the Titan Great Tusk ate a Prismatic Laser from Zamasu. Both of them ended up going down, and the mojo that made them kaiju sized wore off, returning them to their base sizes that were still big but now more reasonable for Pokémon as a whole.

...At least, the reborn trainers were going to assume that the sizes that Great Tusk and Iron Treads were at now were reasonable for their species. They had only the notes on the Paradox Pokémon from Arven's parents' lab to go off of for any real information currently available on all of the Paradox Pokémon, and even then a fair chunk of said information is still speculation and theory at best. Having actual Paradox Pokémon in the flesh right in front of them was going to be the only real way to get any advancing done on research into the Paradox Pokémon.

Luckily for Dawn, Kenny, and Trip, they had a pair of Paradox Pokémon right there, knocked out and primed for capture. It was Kenny who ended up catching Great Tusk, whereas Trip was the one who had ended up catching Iron Treads. The two boys did this as Arven, with single minded focus, made his way to the cave that the two Paradox Pokémon, while large and wild, broke into the side of the area surrounding Asado Desert. Arven hobbled over with some difficulty, considering the fact that he still had a wrap around his ankle due to spraining said ankle.

Seeing the boys all achieve major steps, Dawn remarked with wry amusement, "Well now, it seems that I'm the only one out of us four here to walk away from dealing with the Titan Paradox Pokémon here empty handed."

"Don't worry, Dawn," Arven said as he hobbled back over, Herba Mystica number four in hand, "There's a Titan Badge in store for you for this!" This was the first time that Arven recovered a Herba Mystica without a Titan Pokémon helping itself to any of it first; no doubt due to how the two Titan Pokémon that were involved this time got into a bit of a spat over it before either of them could have gotten a taste.

As Dawn nodded once in understanding, she felt something nudge into the back of her left leg. This was followed by the nervous sounding cry of a wild Cacnea. Dawn turned to look and saw that a wild Cacnea was hugging her left leg around the lower part, its nervous and scared cry denoting how it saw seeking comfort from the humans who defeated the giant Pokémon. However, what was surprising about the wild Cacnea that sought assurance and comfort from Dawn was the fact that it is a shiny Cacnea.

"Well I'll be, Dawn!" Trip exclaimed, "A wild shiny Cacnea has taken a liking to you!"

Dawn was likewise surprised, considering how Kenny is the one with shiny luck. Still, Dawn was able to get Cacnea to let her go so she could pick it up. "Don't worry, little one," Dawn said, "The big scary Donphans are dealt with and will no longer terrorise innocent Pokémon." Cacnea gave a exclaiming cry of relief and immediately moved to try to hug Dawn, but she wisely held it back and kept it from actually hugging her.

It does not do a person well at all if they're hugged by a cactus.

...

Victorious once more, the heroes and Arven made their way back to The Jelly-Filled Donut, where they had a late night meal. During the preparation of which, Dawn, Kenny, and Trip occupied themselves with updating their work in completing the Paldea Pokédex by jotting down how they had caught two Paradox Pokémon. Dawn was also delighted as she was able to catch the shiny Cacnea that grew attached to her. It's a boy who she named Scarecrow.

It was as Trip and Kenny had finished jotting down initial notes on Franky and Manny (Trip's Iron Treads and Kenny's Great Tusk respectively) that they and Dawn were called out to eat. When they arrived out on the deck of The Jelly-Filled Donut, they saw that Sho had gotten out the folding tables and folding chairs he keeps taking from Team Star bases. "See? I told you I had an idea going with me taking the folding tables and folding chairs," Sho said.

"Oh and Dawn, this is for you," Arven said as he handed her a Titan Badge; similar to the Gym and Team Star Badges, but with the symbol for the ground type.

Pocketing the Titan Badge as she intended to put it away later, Dawn asked, "Now let me ask you a rather important question, Arven. Has your Mabosstiff eaten yet?"

Arven could tell that Dawn was asking about if it had a sandwich made with the latest Herba Mystica that Arven had gotten. As none of the Herba Mystica from this time around was eaten by any Titan Pokémon, there was more than usual, so there was plenty of super nutrients for Arven to feed to his doggo. "Oh yeah," Arven said, "Mabosstiff had a good helping of sandwich made with the Herba Mystica I got this time!"

"If I recall correctly," Mina spoke up, "There's only one last Herba Mystica for you to obtain. Then after you get it, it'll be a snap to see Mabosstiff fully recover."

Nodding once in agreement, Arven said, "That is the dream, yeah." Turning to look at Dawn, Arven went on, "Anyway Dawn, you're really lucky! You got a shiny Cacnea."

"Technically it's Dawn's third shiny Pokémon," Kenny said, "Her first was a Makuhita she had since evolved into Hariyama, and her second is a Nymble she evolved into Lokix." Looking to where Dawn's named shiny Cacnea stood close by her, Kenny went on, "And if I recall correctly, Cacnea evolves into Cacturne."

As Dawn looked to Scarecrow, Arven asked, "So where are you guys off to next in your adventure across Paldea? Because if you don't mind, I'd like to tag along as my ankle will limit my mobility until the sprain heals enough."

"Our next stop is Alfornada," Dawn explained, "That's where the next gym for Kenny, Trip, and myself to challenge is located."

Arven nodded once in understanding. "The gym leader over in Alfornada is actually an old friend of the Physical Education teacher over at Naranja Academy. If I recall correctly, their history involves a bet they made with one another which the gym leader, Tulip, won because said bet involved a battle and whereas Tulip uses psychic type Pokémon, the P.E. teacher uses fighting type Pokémon. I don't know what the wager of the bet was, however."

Kenny scoffed. "Of course, of COURSE the psychic user beats the fighting user in order to win a bet! The odds were way too stacked in her favor! Couldn't they have agreed on a more fair and balanced method of settling the bet where both sides had a fair and equal chance of winning?"

Shrugging, Arven said, "I don't know what to say. Although I did get it that it was Tulip who insisted on the battle to settle the be-"

"And it's the person who was at a blatant type advantage who insisted on the battle to settle the bet!" Kenny exclaimed, "I knew it! Psychic type gym leaders are full of what Tauros leave behind out on grassy fields!"

Arven looked confused at Kenny, before Dawn chimed in, "Kenny... has had a history of not trusting gym leaders who specialize in psychic type Pokémon, mostly because they tend to have psychic powers that most folks have no way to counter or otherwise defend against."

Nodding once in understanding, Arven said, "I see." Given that all other topics of business had been settled, the crew of The Jelly-Filled Donut decided to take off for the area of Alfornada. This time, they were bringing Arven along because his mobility was limited due to his sprained ankle, and he needed to let it rest until it was well enough so that he could continue his Treasure Hunt quest to find all five of the Herba Mysticas.

He had already found four, so there was only one left. Arven was close. Mabosstiff was close to recovering in full.

After a short flight, The Jelly-Filled Donut landed in an open space outside of the one entrance to Alfornada located closest to the local Pokémon Center. Moreover, they were now within the area of South Province Area Six, and as such they went about trying to find new Pokémon to catch and help bring the goal of completing the Paldea Pokédex to completion.

However, searching the land near Alfornada, the heroes came up dry when it came to new species of Pokémon to find and catch. Dawn, taking a break, sat down on a large rock to catch her breath. Dawn, as her named Infernape Chi-Chi sat next to her, took her asthma inhaler out and used it. Dawn was still beyond annoyed and beyond pissed that her asthma had isekai'd its way back to her. Dawn would of been happy to have never seen her old friend asthma ever again.

Putting her inhaler away, Dawn said, "Well I'm not seeing much of anything around here, Chi-Chi. I say we head back to the ship and wait for the sun to rise." Looking up into the still dark sky, Dawn went on, "Maybe there are new species of Pokémon for us to find in this area, but they don't come out at night. We can try later in the morning once the sun has ris-"

"Banette!"

Dawn stopped short when she and Chi-Chi heard a wild Banette cry out. The two girls then saw a wild Banette come hopping on over to them. What really caught Dawn's attention about this was the fact that the wild Banette, same as Scarecrow who Dawn had caught no more than an hour prior, is a shiny. "...A shiny Banette," Dawn remarked quietly to herself as the wild shiny Banette was still on its way over, "Does Paldea have better odds of trainers finding shiny Pokémon in the wild?"

Within a few moments, the wild shiny Banette had reached Dawn and Chi-Chi. Very obviously, it was not hostile towards the girls; it instead was acting like a friendly and curious young child. Dawn, still a tad annoyed that she's the only one between her, Kenny, and Trip to have not caught a Paradox Pokémon yet, wanted to try and gain some form of compensation for it, and figured that catching a shiny Pokémon or two was a step in the right direction.

Dawn was also amazed that Banette here, if she does catch it, will be the third shiny Pokémon she's caught in Paldea, fourth shiny overall. Either Kenny's luck for shiny Pokémon was rubbing off on her or Paldea really DID have better odds for shiny Pokémon somehow. Regardless, Dawn wanted to see if she could catch the wild shiny Banette. Dawn first wanted to try the diplomatic approach with the shiny Banette before she decided to have Chi-Chi beat it down for capture.

As such, Dawn took out an individually wrapped cinnamon roll snack. Even before Dawn had been able to open it, the wild shiny Banette hopped up and down in excitement for the sweet snack. Dawn could tell that Banette came over because it thought Dawn would be able to feed it. Smiling in amusement, Dawn opened the snack's packaging and took the snack out, tearing off a chunk before offering it to Banette.

The wild shiny Banette snatched up the cinnamon roll chunk and popped it into its mouth, and was instantly delighted with the taste of it. Banette then immediately tried jumping for the rest of the cinnamon roll, making Dawn chuckle in amusement. "Easy, easy," Dawn said, "I'll give you the rest, you just need to be patient." The wild shiny Banette settled down and just stood there as Dawn fed it the rest of the cinnamon roll snack, one chunk at a time.

When Dawn came back to where The Jelly-Filled Donut was parked, the crew was not expecting her to come back with a new shiny Pokémon. But there the shiny Banette was, sitting next to Dawn as the two of them sat at a table in a kitchen area. As it turned out, the shiny Banette was female and, due to her fondness of cinnamon rolls, Dawn after catching her decided to name her roll. "The odds of finding wild shiny Pokémon in Paldea seem to be absurd," Kenny remarked.

"I had read it in Dawn's copy of the book Paranoia's Price," Trip began, "For those not aware it's more or less a journal denoting the day to day life of a girl who lived in the Hisuian period of Sinnoh's past. Anyway, it was noted in Paranoia's Price that shiny Pokémon were somewhat easy to find, at least if compared to the odds of finding a wild shiny Pokémon in modern day Sinnoh. Researchers are still trying to figure out why shiny Pokémon in the wild in Sinnoh are now significantly harder to find than they were during the Hisuian period."

Folding her arms over her chest, Dawn remarked, "Technically it's not a step in the direction of the goal that we were set on by Jacq, but you've got to admit that there is nothing wrong with catching a shiny Pokémon."

Nodding once, Kenny said, "Man, if this knowledge was available sooner, we could of used it back when Team Scorn was still jonseing for a wild shiny Pokémon. It could have saved us a whole lot of trouble back when we were still in Unova gathering the gym badges over there if we were able to send Team Scorn shiny hunting here in Paldea."

After recalling Roll, Dawn stretched her arms into the air. "Well I don't know about you guys, but I need to sack out for a bit. I wanna catch some rest."

"Yeah, we've been up a fair portion of the night," Sho agreed.

Rhyanna stretched and let out a yawn. "I wanna pack it in too." It was a general consensus that all of the crewmembers of The Jelly-Filled Donut wanted to get some shut eye, and there was still a good few hours or so before anything worthwhile in Alfornada would be open for business for the day, so they all decided to call it a (late) night and get what sleep that they could. In the morning, Dawn and the boys would look into finding Tulip so that they could challenge her.

She would be yet another psychic type gym leader, but all reports on her say that Tulip is just a normal model and make-up spokeswoman who just so happens to use psychic type Pokémon, so no psychic powers unless you figure the tiny little wings all over her outfit moving on their own is a result of psychic powers. Yes, Tulip was shaping up to be the first psychic type Pokémon user who's a gym leader that won't have any, as Kenny puts it, cheat psychic powers.

...

Meanwhile in Alfornada, in a kitchenette in an apartment somewhere, Tulip the gym leader was sitting down to coffee with two of the teachers who work over at Naranja Academy; her old friend Dendra the P.E. teacher, and Raifort the History teacher. "Thanks for agreeing to see me, Raifart," Tulip said, her tone and expression looking serious and denoting that she's scared, "Dendra tells me that you're knowledgeable enough about what I've seen in my dreams to help me."

"No problem," Raifort replied, "And it's pronounced Raifort, not Raifart."

Looking curious, Tulip said, "Dendra told me it's Raifart."

Chuckling a bit, Dendra said, "Sorry, I couldn't resist a joke."

Rolling her eyes dryly, Raifort said, "Whatever. Now, what's this dream about and how am I able to help with it?"

Shuddering a bit, Tulip said, "I... I see four Pokémon of dark power break out of where they've been sealed away. A snow cold white hunting feline with sword like saber teeth. An earthen bovine with a large cracked bowl on its head. A big snail made of foliage and its shell made of wooden slabs. A small fish made of fire and it has curved beads for eyes."

Raifort's eyes widened a bit out of surprised recognition. "The Treasures of Ruin." Leaning forward, Raifort went on, "How soon do you figure from your dreams that The Treasures of Ruin break out of where they are sealed?"

"Soon," Tulip said, "Their emerging will be signaled by a flying donut. Those who manage the flying donut will in instrumental in dealing with the Pokémon of dark power." Looking to Dendra and Raifort, Tulip asked, "What do you girls think? Will the flying donut I foresaw in my dream come in and deal with the Pokémon of dark power?"

Sitting back in her seat, Dendra wore a look of consideration on her face. "...The flying ship that showed up at Naranja Academy a short while ago, the flying ship owned by Sinnoh Champion Dawn Berlitz and her crew. It's called The Jelly-Filled Donut if what I recall is correct. Dawn and her crew are still in Paldea last I heard."

Raifort nodded in confirmation. "I got it from Rimu and Penny that Dawn and two of her friends are seeking out the gyms of Paldea to challenge the gym leaders there. At least when they aren't busy being saddled with work by Chairwoman Geeta to help clear away the Team Star bases. That being said, Dawn and her company will be seeking you out, Tulip. Assuming they haven't done so already."

Gently shaking her head, Tulip replied, "No, I haven't been challenged by Dawn or male friends of hers yet. You think that-"

Tulip was cut off when there was a knock at the front door, so she went to answer it. To her surprise, it was a geeky but cute chubby Psychic girl. "Umm, miss Tulip," the Psychic girl began, "There's been a report of a flying ship being seen parked on the ground just outside of Alfornada, near the local Pokémon Center. The name of the flying ship has been identified as The Jelly-Filled Donut." Looking confused, the Psychic girl asked, "What do we do?"

A look of determination appeared on Tulip's face. "...Seek out the heroes who had come to us and beseech them to lend us aid."

This chapter sees the heroes deal with the Titan Pokémon of Asado Desert, although here they deal with both Titan Great Tusk AND Titan Iron Treads, netting them two new Pokémon at once, as well as their first Paradox Pokémon. It's Kenny and Trip respectively who end up catching Great Tusk and Iron Treads, leaving Dawn out in the cold. I also included a bit on the Griseous Orb losing its mojo to let Giratina assume its Origine Forme to show how the Griseous Orb no longer does that in gen nine, although it does still provide the power up.

But as luck would have it, she ends up catching not one but two shiny Pokémon, Cacnea and Banette. This is a reference to how it's easier to find wild shiny Pokémon in the gen nine games. It isn't exactly difficult to find a shiny in gen nine. You would be surprised to hear how many shinies I've caught ever since I started playing gen nine.

But I digress. After the crew settles near Alfornada so they could tackle challenging Tulip in the morning, Tulip herself has a meeting with her friend Dendra and Dendra's co-worker Raifort about dreams that she (Tulip) has been having that foretell the releasing of The Treasures of Ruin from their seals, and how it's figured Dawn and company can stop them from raising a stink.

How this will end up going is something that you'll have to wait to see how it'll go, as it'll be covered in the next chapter. Until then, take care.
