Tropius: The fruit bearing flyer from the wilds of Hoenn

Height: 6'07"/2.0m

Weight: 220.5 lbs./100.0 kg

Type: Grass/Flying

Number in Native PokéDex: #357

Part 1: Habitats and Appearance

Tropius are large, quadruped Pokémon with green foliage and wings with 3 banana like fruits beneath their jaws. Tropius are native to the Hoenn Region, but are widespread, with habitats existing in Unova, Aloha, and Paldea. Tropius are often found located near tropical bodies of water, whether that be rivers or lakes.

Part 2: Behavior

Tropius are not known to have any other forms or pre-evolutions and live solely in small groups near bodies of water. Noted as being very docile, they are sometimes known to share the fruit around their necks with small children and other Pokémon. Tropius are also not noted to be active fighters in the wild, preferring instead to flee when danger approaches.

Part 3: Life Cycle

Tropius, as stated before, does not have any other forms or pre-evolutions. The hatch straight out of eggs guarded by 2 parents, and the only notable part of newly hatched Tropius are their lack of fully formed wings and smaller size than an average adult Tropius. Tropius will begin to grow at around 12 weeks (about 3 months) of age and will reach full maturity after around 2 years. Tropius, at this point, will go out on their own and attempt to find a mate.

Part 4: Diet

Tropius are herbivorous, notably preferring bananas that are similar in shape and size to the fruits that grow around their necks. However, younger Tropius will often feed on the fruit growing around their parents' necks, leading to their bodies absorbing the nutrients to grow their own neck fruit. Tropius' long necks are also theorized to be a adaptation making it easier to consume food on large trees.

Trivia:

Tropius are around the same size as Venusaur, a Kantonian Pokémon.

Tropius fruit grows to its full extent two times a year.

Tropius can seemingly undergo a small form of photosynthesis, replenishing itself when regular food is not available.
