Brooklyn himself was rather stunned at what he heard, feeling stock still while that little Pokemon clung to his leg even further like a leech, continuing to repeat its name.

"A-Are you for real dude? A Pokèmon?! This is nuts! It is only a game!" Shouted Brooklyn, his eyes suddenly starting to glow bright like they normally did whenever he got angry. Lexington held out his hands for defense.

"Just hear what I have to say. I think that this little guy came to this world somehow, though not sure what caused him to arrive in ours. But maybe, this… this is your chance to find a new destiny for yourself bro like how many of us had found ours. A Pokèmon trainer."

That made the red gargoyle's world to crash down around him. This wasn't real. It wasn't real! But that little Pokèmon beast was still clinging to his leg, nuzzling him. "I just… don't know how to feel about all this. I don't know about this stuff like you do. What is this Pokèmon again?" Brooklyn questioned, finally prying the dragon thing off of his leg, holding it up by the scruff of its neck.

Lexington grinned in a humorous manner. "Why it is a Charmander, one of the starter Pokèmon in the Kanto region, Palet Town. The Charmander really seems to like you Brook."

Brooklyn simply looked at the 'Charmander' with a raised brow, wondering what kinds of 'powers' this thing could have. "And what makes him so special?" He asked while the Pokèmon repeated it's name.

He soon got his answer as Charmander suddenly let loose one of its fireblasts, nearly singing the hairs on his head, making Brooklyn yelp aloud, dropping Charmander by accident, the others and Elisa to dodge the flames as well. Charmander finally stopped blasting, giving Brooklyn a smile while Brooklyn coughed from the smoke.

Lexington shrugged. "It mostly has a flamethrower attack but other attacks as well. And if trained properly, it could metamorph into Charmeleon, then the big dragon Charizard." He explained, Brooklyn staring down at Charmander, amazed he could soon one day be bigger than him.

"You for sure he wants me as his 'trainer' when I know nothing balls about Pokèmon? And how can I leave the clan with the Quarrymen on the loose?"

Goliath stroked his chin for a while before having a thought. "It could give us great reinforcements to face against Castaway and his men to end their Hunt once and for all with these little ones by our side. And Brooklyn, being in charge of these 'Pokèmon' can have you be able to learn more stratistics when it come to planning attacks. Maybe, this Pokèmon training will be good for you."

Brooklyn swallowed while Charmander returned to hugging his leg again. "But… but… I don't wanna leave the clan. Don't you all need me?" He asked in a saddened voice. Hudson took Brooklyn's hand. "Think of this as a learning experience for ye, a way to visit a brand new world. We will all be here when you return."

The younger youth then thought for a time when he asked Goliath when he would get his own world tour. A small light then brightened. Having his own adventures, without Goliath hanging over his head expecting him to be perfect in the clan all the time? It sounded nice, even if he was going to be alone all the time.

"Suppose you're right guys. But, where would I start? How would I get there? And—." Brooklyn started pestering until suddenly Puck showed up in front of them.

Puck smiled when seeing the Charmander. "Seems someone's got a little companion as well as a destiny. I can bring you to that destiny in the Kanto region, where nearly every trainer begins. But first, a gift since most battles are in the day."

Tilting his head, Brooklyn noticed Puck pulling out some kind of bracelet, handing it over to him. "This bracelet will keep you from turning to stone during the day only when necessary. You will need it whenever encountering the big battles."

Brooklyn's eyes rounded, taking it and putting it on. He felt a small buzz on his bracelet before it was gone. "Lex, is there anybody important to meet there for anything? I recall those red balls that show up in the series, sealing Pokèmon inside."

Lex nodded. "That would be Professor Oak. He is in Pallet town which is where you will be in."

Swishing his tail, Brooklyn nodded too before soon going to hug everyone around him along with Elsa after they got him ready with food and whatever else he needed. This was the difficult part, saying goodbye.

Puck flew around Brooklyn. "If you're done with those goodbyes, we should get you out there." He informed, Brooklyn saying he was ready, turning to the others.

"Please… don't forget me." Brooklyn said with sad tears in his eyes, waving to his clan. Angela and Elisa both had tears as well, Bronx whining and his brothers all nodding. Puck soon got the magic spell ready, waving magic around Brooklyn and saying a spell in fay language.

Brooklyn held onto his Charmander, watching the remaining figures of his family disappear, Charmander squeaking its name up at him as soon; he appeared in a grassy field by a road which led to Pallet Town.

"That was quick." Brooklyn mumbled to himself, gazing down at Charmander. "Char Char!" It squeaked again, looking rather happy to be back in his own world. Brooklyn rolled his eyes. "Glad your happy but I gotta get to what Lexington called 'Pallet Town'."

Suddenly the Charmander caught a scent on its nose, quickly waddling off following the smell. Brooklyn quickly ran after it. "Hey little guy, wait up!" He called out, wondering if somehow the creature knew where Pallet Town was which kind of amazed him, hoping Charmander wouldn't get him lost.

The unlikely pair wandered through the field for a while until soon above a hill, Charmander stopped in its tracks, hopping up and down in its excitement. "Char!" It squeaked over and over again, pointing and waving its flame tail. Brooklyn felt tired, but once he got to where the Charmander was, his eyes rounded.

For down below was indeed a town, but was it the one he was looking for? Brooklyn couldn't help the smile on his beak before petting the little guy. "Let's hope you're right about this town. But do you know where the Pokemon center is?" Charmander nodded as he wanted to get going, though Brooklyn didn't think he desired to have humans see him yet other than the Professor he was supposed to meet. "I think… I need to be stone for a bit to catch my strength first for a little," Brooklyn said, adjusting his bracelet to have him change for a while.

Charmander tilted his head before understanding as Brooklyn found a tree to turn to stone near so hopefully nobody would find him. The Pokemon's eyes widened when seeing his master turning to stone for the first time before eventually curling up around the statue to sleep as well.

….

Later in early evening, the bracelet around Brooklyn's wrist beeped which caused his body to crack, and he roared when coming out of his stone skin. Charmander squeaked from what happened, seeing that his gargoyle master was now awake again. Brooklyn stretched before giving the little creature a small grin. "Just what we gargoyles are famous for. But now is the time we got moving, huh? We mostly need to be invisible in the town."

Charmander agreed, hopping onto Brooklyn's back suddenly who grunted a little from how heavy he was but was willing to carry him. Brooklyn ran on all fours down the hill and quietly crept through the shadows, hoping not to wake up anybody in the town until soon he reached what looked like the Pokemon center.

"Finally," Brooklyn muttered to himself as he stood up, ringing the doorbell.

Inside Professor Oak was contemplating of whether it was right of him to give that Ash boy a new Pikachu until he heard the doorbell ring, startling him. "Whoever it is, I have no time to deal with you after the challenge of getting these youngsters their first Pokemon!" He shouted, standing up. The bell rang more and Oak knew he had no choice.

He walked to the doorway and looked out the window, eyes widening when seeing someone pretty unusual outside, opening the door. Brooklyn's ears were flat at meeting this new strange human who wore a white lab coat like Sevarius did though he seemed not as mean.

The professor eyed Brooklyn suspiciously. "And what sort of Pokemon rings my doorbell? You're not like any I've ever seen!" He inspected Brooklyn more closely but he backed away, shaking his head. "I'm no Pokemon, I'm a gargoyle. I've-I've come here to become a trainer. My name is Brooklyn." Brooklyn said in a shy voice, looking down feeling embarrassed at saying this line.

Professor Oak was stunned to say the least, having heard of gargoyles but one actually desiring to be a Pokemon trainer was unheard of until he spotted what looked like a Charmander riding the gargoyle's shoulders. "Char Char!" It squeaked, tilting its head at Professor Oak who soon smiled. "I suppose I have room for one more trainer, but you don't seem to be from around here."

Brooklyn shook his head as Professor Oak led him inside. "Suppose you can say that. Not from this world, but I found this little guy wandering around in my town of New York and saved his life."

The human gazed at Brooklyn knowingly. "Some say a Pokemon is totally loyal to those who save their life. That Charmander of yours will stay by your side until the end of your journey, though he needs a Pokeball to reside in whenever he is tired. Follow me."

Brooklyn walked with Oak to a room where he saw a table where three Pokeballs sat there open already. Professor Oak noticed him looking. "Three kids came to collect their Pokemon pretty much before you came along which I say is nice and punctual, though one may end up being late I predict."

Just hearing that stunned Brooklyn slightly. "Kids are allowed to have Pokemon?" He asked, since he himself was hardly a follower of this franchise he forgot that ten year olds are able to get their Pokemon license. Oak nodded. "It is tradition for a child to start as early as 10, to gain the knowledge while young, otherwise you're the rare case. How old may you be?" He questioned while pulling out some equipment.

Brooklyn shuffled his feet. "I'm 38 in gargoyle years which I suppose makes me 19 in human years."

Professor Oak was stunned. "How extraordinary! I have read of beings like you but never saw any of them in Pallet Town or other regions. Guess you being 19 still makes you qualified. Here you are."

He handed Brooklyn a strange red device along with at least 20 Pokeballs in a small bag. Brooklyn looked over it. "What is this thing?"

"That is your Pokedex which can tell you about every Pokemon in existence. Very handy. And as for your Pokeballs you will need those. Use one for Charmander and see if he goes in. Since Charmander is a level 5 Pokemon he already knows Flamethrower."

Brooklyn took the Pokeball in his hand which felt small at first then suddenly grew to fit, making him blink a little. Glancing at Charmander, he pointed the Pokeball at him. "Uhhh… Charmander? You can go in your Pokeball now." He said, feeling awkward again. Charmander squeaked, hopping up and down as a red laser came from the Pokeball, calling Charmander in. The Pokeball blinked then went still.

Professor Oak clapped. "How great for your first try! Now, the first stop you must head to is Viridian City to get your Pokemon checked in at their Center. I'm sure you're still up for this?"

Brooklyn couldn't help the swallow in his throat but did his best to look brave. "I think so. Back home I love my clan but guess they decided I needed to have my own adventure. This could be a chance to prove my worth some more." He said, a little smile on his face, kind of beginning to like Professor Oak.

Oak nodded, holding out his hand. "Then good luck to you. I wish you good fortune on your journey and hoping we meet again." He felt the gargoyle shake his hand, putting his supplies in his bag then heading out the door, now on his long Pokemon journey, wherever it may lead him to. But with Charmander by his side, Brooklyn knew at least he wouldn't be alone.

And so begins Brooklyn's quest through the Kanto region! What Pokemon will he catch first?
