This shouldn't have happened, his little girl should still be okay. She just went out into the forest to play, like she always does. There weren't supposed to be any dangerous animals in Gravesfield, he made sure of it when they moved here. He was supposed to protect her. But as the reality of Luz's mangled body and terminal diagnosis began to set in, his despair gave way for determination.

He turned to a barely coherent Camila besides him. "We can rebuild her." And so he stood up, and left. He had no time to waste.

He entered his lab, and turned on the lights. Components were strewn about the workplace, frustration set in. He threw aside half-completed projects and useless gadgets.

He spent hours in the lab, trying and retrying various designs and ideas. Time ticked by fast, and with each lost minute, each lost second, his little light came closer to fading. Determination turned back to fear and despair as his phone got bombarded by texts from his wife, desperately begging him to come back, to be by their sides while their daughter departed this plane.

But he couldn't give up, and he didn't. He sped up, using various components and half-completed prototypes strewn about his lab. Finally, after carefully placing the final component into the power core, his work is completed. Regenerative skin, hydraulic heat dissipation, microfibre muscles, programable keratin printers. A synthetic body, the perfect android.

Now all that was left to do was upload the software. With minutes to spare, he returned to the hospital.

Luz's vitals were crashing. The data cables were connected, the upload was in progress. Just before it finishes, Luz flatlines. He checks his screen, upload successful.

Luz woke up, and attempted to sit up. She's a little wonky, but she managed. She looked around confused and scared. White walls, harsh lights, sterile sheets.

Instantly her papi is at her side. "Papa? Where are-" But he interrupts her, he says it's okay. He said she just had a little tumble in the forest, but that it's all okay now. She'sokay now. And who was she to question her fearless dad? He wouldn't lie to her about that.

Eight years later

It had been a long and tiring day, breaking into conformatorium, fighting Belos, blowing up the portal... But in the end they had won! Belos was defeated and Eda had been rescued! Even Lilith had changed to their side. She'd shared the curse and turned Eda back, it was all going to be okay!

Luz ran up to Eda and hugged her tight.

"Luz, you're injured!" Eda gasped, now back in witch form.

"Oh, right, I forgot, it doesn't even hu-" she freezes as she sees her wounded arm. There, underneath her skin, where her flesh and bones should be. There are metal plates, wires, tubes and hydraulic pumps.

Her heart rate increases as she struggles to process what she's seeing. The exposed tubes in her arm pump out more and more brown-redish liquid rhythmically with each beat of her heart.

She faintly registers Eda gently guiding her to the sofa inside and King worriedly tugging on her hoody before her world goes black.
