Tony DiNozzo is counting down the hours until he can go home and drown his liver in a few bottles of beer and pizza while watching Magnum P.I. Today has been extremely quiet, something they would normally relish in but not today. No, today all of Team Gibbs on MCRT are itching for a case, something that can make them run around. It's only 1030 and it feels like the end of the day is days away.
The elevator doors ding open but the SFA ignores it and carries on with his paperwork, his headphones over his ears as he works. The paperwork piled all around him will at least take up the majority of the day, and will hopefully keep the memories at bay until he gets home when he's alone.
Gibbs' phone rings on his desk and the three agents heads snap up at the boss, looking at him like puppies, hoping that it's dispatch, telling him of a new case and they need them. Gibbs only nods and hangs up and places the phone back in its cradle, standing up. The rest of the team follow him, their gear already in their hands.
"Sit," the silver haired agent says, ordering them to sit, like dogs who are getting too excited. "it was the director. She needs me in her office." Gibbs says with a smirk before he runs up the steps towards the directors office, hearing the groans coming from his agents.
Gibbs barges into Jen's office with a smirk on his face ready to tell her about the team which quickly falls off his face when he sees who she's with:
Jeanne Benoit, the Frogs daughter.
With a four month old daughter on her lap who is playing with a stuffed grey elephant.
He comes to a realisation as he looks into the little girl's eyes.
He glares at the woman who caused his SFA so much pain. "Miss Benoit, what are you doing here?" He asks the young woman who shifts her daughter when she starts fussing.
"I was just coming to tell Director Shepard that I'm sorry for what my father did to her own and for accusing Tony of murdering him. And I want to see him if you are not working on a case." She says, Gibbs sighs. He doesn't want Tony to see the woman that broke his heart but his SFA does have a right to see Jeanne if he wants to.
"I'll ask him to come up but you can't force him, because if you do, he'll bolt and shut down." Gibbs tells Jeanne who nods her head. "I'm never going to force him into anything, agent Gibbs. I just want him to know how sorry I am for accusing him of murder." Gibbs doesn't know what to say so he doesn't say anything.
"Did you get off the elevator thirty minutes ago?" He asks, remember hearing the doors open but didn't look up to see who was stepping out. Jeanne smiles slightly at him. "Yes, it was. Tony had his headphones on and was engrossed in paperwork, I wasn't surprised when he didn't look up." She laughs when her daughter babbles and hits her in the face with her toy. "Aw, I think it's nap time for little girls." Jeanne says with a smile to the yawning little girl.
His heart hurts when he sees a little girl with a little head of red hair being rocked to sleep in her mothers arms. He meets Jen's green eyes and gives her a small smile when he sees the 'are you okay?' question shining in her eyes.
"I'll bring Tony up for you, Miss Benoit." He tells the woman who is fastening her sleeping daughter in her car seat and covering her with a pink blanket. "Thank you, agent Gibbs." Jeanne says, straightening up and putting all the toys that had fallen to the ground back into a bag.
Gibbs closes the directors door and leans against it, ignoring the looks Cynthia is sending him. He doesn't know how Tony will react to everything that he'll see in the director's office.
He walks out on to the catwalk just as the elevator doors open and three people exit, one of them has a box tucked underneath his arm, they walk over to his part of the squad room, towards DiNozzo's desk.
This can't be good. The Lead agent thinks when he sees the faces of the three men.
