The first thing that hit me when I woke up was the sensation of absolute nothingness. No defining shapes, no sounds, just a void that seemed to swallow my very existence whole.
"Well, this is weird." I quipped, a frown forming on my lips. Shouldn't I be freaking out right now? I mean, waking up in the middle of nowhere isn't exactly a normal occurrence, right?
I glanced around, or at least attempted to. But there was nothing to see. Just an endless expanse of darkness stretching out in every direction.
So, where the heck am I? I mused to myself, feeling a twinge of panic creeping up. This was not on my list of places to visit.
Physics decided to take a holiday too. I mean, I should be plummeting to my doom right about now, but nope, nothing. I'm just floating here, defying gravity like it's no big deal.
In a futile attempt to break the silence, I shouted into the abyss. "ANYBODY HOME?"
Predictably, my cries were met with nothing but echoing silence. The void seemed to mock my feeble attempts at communication, bouncing my voice back at me.
Great. Stuck in the middle of literal nowhere with no GPS and no idea how I got there. Talk about a vacation gone wrong. I grumbled to myself, frustration bubbling up.
Am I in some sort of limbo? Wait, what even is limbo? With each question came another, and soon enough, I was more bored than worried.
As I mulled over my predicament, a weird realization dawned on me – I couldn't remember who I was. It was like someone hit the reset button on my brain, leaving behind only a void to match my surroundings.
Confusion mingled with curiosity as I pondered my identity. Who am I? What's my deal? These questions danced around my head, taunting me to find answers.
But how do you search for something when you don't even know what you're looking for? I sighed, frustration mounting as memories slipped through my fingers like water.
Taking a peek down at my attire, I couldn't help but scoff. Black shirt, black pants, black shoes – talk about being plain. Clearly, my past self had a thing for the color black.
"Does it even matter? I'm a nobody." I waved off my existential crisis, deciding to focus on the more pressing matter at hand – giving myself a name.
Names are supposed to mean something, but since I am the only inhabitant of Nowheresville, there's no one around to call me anything. Giving myself a name just seems pointless.
Still, I found myself playing around with random sounds, letting weird words pop into my head. They were just a bunch of jumbled syllables that didn't really mean anything, but somehow, they felt right.
Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and uttered a random word that would be my name. "Fildde."
"Ehh, that sounded better in m-"
Before I could finish, the darkness around me faded away, replaced by blinding light.
